Hey all, so, my headphones finally broke after months of intense use (the left headphone doesn't work anymore, but the right one still does).
Does anyone have a cheaper recommendation other than the stock SGS4G headset? I love the thing, but I just wanna see what other possibilities there are. $30 for a headset seems like a pretty generous amount.

I posted this before, but here it is again:

SnuggBuds.
I use these I used them for running to. They have great bass sound.
I purchased the headset from AntonX's post. I'm waiting for them to arrive now. I'll keep you guys posted on whether or not it's comparable to the OEM headset.
Then again, it's shipped from Hong Kong, so I'm guessing it would be authentic Samsung...
On another note, I realize that ALL of my headphones always break from the connector. One of the earbuds always end up failing on me. I'm guessing it's because I don't store them away properly (I just coil it up and put it into my ass pocket). So...how do you guys keep your headphones safe?
I purchased them a month ago too. They are under dust in my bedroom corner. Poor sound, difficult to plug in properly to get the most sound. I dont think this is authentic from samsung. They r just fake.you get what you pay for

Hm, that's strange. I myself found links to these on xda I9000 accessory forum, and people who bought them didn't seem to complain and actually made impression that these were original Samsung OEMs. Well, the ones that came with the phone don't sound that great either, maybe just OK.
I have a pair of these too:
http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HA-FX35-B...DVRI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1310007450&sr=8-1
They are not perfect but quite good for cheap ones.
in terms of sound quality ive always liked skull candy, they last me about 6 months, but i dont know if theyre coming with mics in them
just bought it last monday on sale 7.99 its a good ones

Okay, I just received the five headsets from this guy. They were ALL defective. They are not even close to acceptable, and the answer/end call buttons don't work either.
Wish me luck on returning these to Hong Kong.

I'd recommend something like Skull Candy Mic'd
That model is only $20, and is the same style as the Samsung ones. They feel about the same in comfort, but they definitely sound better with music.

Hrm, that's definitely something I'll look into. How is the call quality on that? For the Samsung OEM headset, it sounds pretty good.
Btw, you can get them from Amazon for cheaper, and Skullcandy still provides warranty for them!
I bought some from the swapmeet and have been working fine for 6 months great sound
Quality and awesome bass

For anyone that may be remotely interested, timesaviour on Ebay (the seller mentioned by AntonX) has the OEM headset for Samsung Galaxy S I9000. All the headsets he sent me didn't seem to work for the SGS4G though (except for one that was actually a SGS4G OEM headset).
Still, he was cool enough to give me a refund for the defective ones.
I'll definitely be checking out the Skullcandy Ink'd Mic'd though. I've generally had great experiences with Skullcandy, and with warranty, why not!
I like the stock Sammys, but the Beats by Dre are phenomenal...although a tad bit costly.

I've always heard they were nothing but the name. They supposedly have poor build quality with a big price tag. Slapping Dr. Dre on it sells itself, lol.

If you get on ebay an search for best buy outlet, they usually have some great deals. I've bought 3 sets of insignia Bluetooth NS-BTHDP behind the head headsets. And they are really good. I paid $20 or less for each set from best buy on ebay. I hate the earbud kind. Oh these insignias were about $120 in stores when I bought them. I don't know how much they would be now. And they give you free shipping on them. So if you like Bluetooth headset id say check that out. And all mine were brand new still in original packaging. Hope this helps out.

Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately, I'm not really a music enthusiast. I just listen to it for boring train rides, walks, etc.
So far, I'm really convinced with the Skullcandy Ink'd Mic'd though. Can't really go wrong for $15 + warranty!
Has anyone tried Thinksound ts02+mic?
Is it me, or do iphone headphones work improperly on the SGS4G?
Specifically, I can't get the button the play/stop/skip track properly. It works sometimes, but very inconsistently.
What are the best in-ear headphones that has a mic and buttons for use while on the phone? I plan on using mostly at the gym. Thanks.
Bump, I would love to know too, thats the only time I really use my pandora.
I use the ear phones with mic from my old samsung epic 4g. There in ear thus canceling outside noise and have good bass boost, heck they sound better than iPhone earphones and as far as noise canceling goes I work as a forklift driver and I can barely hear a thing.
Motorola HT820 Bluetooth - not "in-year" but perfect for gym.
JayBird Freedom JF3
These are pretty much probably the best wireless bluetooth headphones out there. Also it's only $100 dollars. You can get it at Best Buy or the website.

I picked up a pair of these in-ear headphones and they just sound amazing when being used with voodoo sound. They have awesome bass response. People might complain of not enough treble but that's because these phones are bassy, but honestly, I think its perfect treble compared to the Samsung headphones that came wwith the phone. Oh, did I mention that they are made of wood?? It just adds a nice mellow sound and the neodymium magnets help add that punchy but sweet bass. Anyways, you can get them at Amazon for around 12 bucks( store price is 30) but if your lucky enough, you can find them at Ross for 6. That's how I did it
Sent from my nice little phone... or should I say huge gigantic beast
I saw a whole lot of them at this garage sale this guy was having and he said anything in the box was a 5 bucks. i was kinda iffy on the wood. lol. But now that you mention it, i regret it. LOL... ill keep an eye out for them to try them
Etymotic Hf3's, best in-ear-canal headphones I've ever used. Planning to get ear canal molds made soon for even better fit.
Also the Shure SE210's were good, now they've been updated to the 220 I believe. The Shure SE series are all fantastic. With IEC headphones, the sky is the limit.
Nuforce on amazon is by far the best experience I've had so far. I'll look into these once my current earbuds break! ^_^
Glad we've got some quality audio listeners on this forum! Can't tell you how many threads there were on beats in the Inspire forum. Bleck. I spend my money on sound quality, not trying to look cool and overpay by $200.

Though the nice thing about voodoo sound is it lets me crank out the output level enough to use my AKG 701's without a portable headphone amp (though I would still suggest one if you like your music loud)
Honestly these were some great headphones but the my left phone blew I guess. I actually treated those phones like my baby and then that. Oh well, I'm glad I got to enjoy them a lot. Now to find something else that has large bass and quality. Any recommendations?

The Skullcandy brand is the best crappy headphones I've ever used. They usually have more emphasis on the low end, I have gone through 4 pairs of the black, in-ear Rockin Buds, and the Titans look like a bit better version of the RB. Also, the latest headphones recommendation I made was for the Sennheiser CX-200's, around the 40$ price range and well worth it. better than the Skullcandy's by far, and still in the low price range. The Sennheisers have great bass response. I'm actually using them right now with my dubstep playlist

Decent plastic shells, they've taken a knocking for sure from me. I had so many pairs because my cat keeps chewing through them (little bastard). Ate my shure se210's. I frequently wore these under my helmet while I rode my motorcycle, and theyve been yanked forcefully out of my ears many times with limited pain and no damage to the headphones.

Yes i would definitely recommend the sennheisers. But instead of the cx200, get the cx300-ii. Those are the bassiest of the family. If you really want to get the best around that price though, try to find the Klipsch S4 around 40. Those are cream of the crop for that price in terms of bass.

I used the Senn CX680s ($60 at Best Buy), they were durable and the clip on the volume control was nice for stability on the buds. The sound was okay, not amazing, but they seem to raise in price due to the fact that they can take a beating. They went through the wash and I had to get rid of them.
I got a pair of Klipsch S4's ($90 at Radio Shack) and wouldn't use anything else. The cord is a bit funky, but the sound quality is absolutely amazing for the price. I use only open-air cans on my computer (had Grado SR125s and now Senn HD590s), and I'm really getting fond of what a good pair of earbuds sounds like. Definitely recommend the S4's over any other option out there at the moment, unless you want to spend $300
The S4's should be easily found for around 60 or less on the internet.

I have not experienced any issues with the speakers themselves in any of the pairs that I've used. I also stopped doing things like wrapping my headphones around my device, and I usually use a little headphone case to store them, so I think a lot of that problem comes from wear and tear from doing bad things to your headphones.
I picked up these Bose IE2s up at Best Buy back when I purchased my phone in May. I use these suckers all the time. Incredible highs and lows. The design ensures they stay in my ears. Works wonderfully. Best earbuds I have ever used.

I've been using my Skullcandy that I got for free from T&C. People can even hear me when I'm riding my bike going about 30mph. Anything over that and it gets too windy. Also works well at the shooting range (I use it as ear protection there).
Overall I'm happy with them since they were free, but I've heard a lot more good things about the beats and bose earphones. Ya know, the ones that are actually supposed to noise cancel and stuff lol.

I found these Mee M31P earphones and I've been very impressed with them. The build quality is top-notch, and after a burn-in (I connected them to my old MP3 player and let it play at a loud volume continuously for about 24 hours), the sound quality is just amazing. Even at low volumes, you can still get the full spectrum with all the bass and treble you want. The mic works very well for calls. I lucked out and got them on a Woot-Off for $16, but even the $25 price on Amazon is well worth it. http://www.amazon.com/MEElectronics-M31P-BK-Headphones-Microphone-Smartphones/dp/B004OBZ2UO
I actually got these ”Smokin Buds” skullcandy earphones today, but after looking at the reviews I think I'm just gonna get another pair.
Apparently they break really easily, and I'm not a big fan of that.
I'll be sure to let you know when they break, but so far the sound is awesome. Only problem is that the button seems to push itself at 60+ mph. Irritating.

I like the idea of noise canceling headphones. I rooted and rommed to XMC's Jellybean, I love it (!), maybe I can try some headphones out at Bestbuy or something!
Heh yeah. Really irritating when it changes songs every three seconds by itself. I also don't think it was made to noise cancel, they just fit in my ears really well.
Personally, I think they have excellent sound. Next time I buy earphones, however, I'm going to read reviews first. I swear, if these break...hahaha =D!
What's your price range, OP? I go through a lot of different brands so I can give some insight.

These are going to be about the earbuds only because headsets are big as hell, and I find earbuds more convenient and cleaner looking. More people would probably fit more with earbuds because most people love convenience.
Under 100, but over 50:
Klipsh Image S4i's are really good. Why? Sound is clear, noise-isolated earbuds, and there is a nice 3 button control set up (volume, call/end call, play music, skip music, etc.). Also, the really good thing about the S4's is the microphone. There is an echo-cancelling feature to it which is a definite plus, and the sound quality of the bass is very good. The colorway of these earbuds is very simplistic as the color is finished with black and chrome. Very clean. Only flaw is the way the buttons take you out of applications, but if you press the buttons, wouldn't that mean you needed to call someone?
Klipsh S4A is good too...I like the S4i's better because it's cheaper and it's pretty much the same thing quality wise. However, you can probably find the S4A's for cheap if you look around.
Lady Gaga Heartbeats are good too. Very unique design to it, and the wire on it (the flat one) is pure quality because it's tangle free pretty much. Seems like it would never break. Sound is VERY good. There's a nice case that comes with this too. I think Monster made this... Monster is very high end, so their credibility should say a lot about these earphones. The microphone is alright though. It's clear, but what makes this headset good is the sound it produces.
Shure headsets are definitely some to look into, even with the lower end products. The design is definitely why I would recommend these to anyone. However, Klipsh ****s on this Shure in the under 100's class.
Etymotic Research MC3's are really nice, but not worth the price... It's a balanced headset, but lacks so much compared to the higher ended Etymotic headsets. I just put these here because I've tried this out.
Beats Audio cheap version...overrated /story. lol I love the hype with the Beats. Good brand, but so far, the Klipsh makes the Beats look crappy, and the Klipsh is cheaper.
Under 50:
MEElectronics brand in general. Good stuff for what it is. Can't really say anything. It's under 50 so why not, right? It's good for what it is.
Ultimate...more expensive but overrated.
NuForce NE-7M is a good headset to use. It's simplistic in style. Sound is very close to those that are under 100. This is definitely one of those earpieces that is made for the laid-back chilled out person. I like these a lot.
Skullcandy Ink'd...it's alright too. Lots of flaws. Wire is always tangled, and it looks cheesy. Sound isn't the best either. But it is what it is, and that's why its price reflects upon the headset in itself.
Skullcandy Smoking Buds are nice in design. Sound is good for what it is. It's kind of too loud though and doesn't seem balanced (for example, the high-end frequencies are very noticeable and it's annoying to hear). It's cheap and that's what matters. Also, the wire is very durable. This is my go-to if I needed something right away and my main headset broke (they have this in almost every retail store). Flaw with the Smoking Buds is the button. Microphone is clear, but the button is annoying. Only one button, which means no control settings to really use. It either opens up your music app, shuts down your music app, or makes a speed dial call to the last person you talked to.
Best choice for under 100 in general is the Klipsh. It's compatible with the Android (I would know ), and it allows control (which is what I think most people would want). The sound is pure quality, and the microphone is very clear. It's also durable, nice looking, and simple.
Best choice for under 50, I would go with the NuForce NE-7M. It's about exactly 50 dollars, but the sound is good for what it is, and it would suit most people who are always on the go and aren't able to cough up an extra 20 dollars for some Klipsh earphones. The design is very minimal, but's a good thing because it's a straight-to-the-point type of earphones to use.
Hopefully, this helps.
Thanks! I'll be looking into the Klipsh headphones for my next purchase. You seem to be well versed with earbuds (which I prefer, actually) and it's always good to read opinions.
As someone who rides every day, earbuds have become a commodity. It's the only way to entertain myself on long rides lol.
Thanks Gheng, you've given an excellent place to start, I don't really have any base to start from, I've been using the earbud/mic sets included with a phone. They have always been lacking in some way.
I'm going to look on Amazon for reviews on each of these models you've talked about to develop a matrix. :cyclops:
+1 Klipsch Image S4. I have the normal set of earbuds, and they are amazing. They still sound great even after a year of daily use. But the cable is fairly thin, so take care of them and they will take care of you.

No worries. I usually base my opinions off of actual experience and reviews from highly respected sources. It feels good to usually have almost the exact same opinions as most of these credible sources.

Are you guys with the Klipsch S4is able to have control of songs and calls? I've read random things about ROMs that don't support the functions of multi-button headset controllers? I have the JB rom with the CM 6 kernal (I think).

Both work well on the MyTouch 4g Slide. I prefer the i's over the a's because of the experience I had with both. Plus, it was a bit better in price and sound.

I tried the Klipsh Image S4i's, they were great, but the extra buttons didn't work, just the one for pause/play/answer did. These worked really well, I liked the sound isolating function, I've never had these type of ear buds before, but really like them. I returned them due to the cost.
I'm going to get the MEElectronics M6P-BK Sports version with the sports ear wire. The reviews on Amazon seem to be mostly good.

Look perfect for the job and the inline controls android handsets.

I have some MEElectronics M31P-BK that are really good, the sound quality after burning in for 24 hours is amazing for that price. Has only 1 button but that works to play/pause or accept calls. The sound is actually a little richer, to my ears, than the UrBeats by Monster that I just bought.
They are by far the best headphones I have every had. They even sound better than my Beats by Dre Pros.

It wouldn't take much to sound better than Beats. I haven't personally tried out the M8 earbuds but for what it's worth I heard they're not very good.

They are actually some of the better headphones I have heard.
I won't even compare them to Beats and the people who waste their money on that hyped-up crap.

In that case I'll have to give 'em a try :good:
I actually think they sound pretty good. I'm not the kind of guy that'll spend a lot of $ on ear buds so I can't compare them to high dollar models but I like them.
I was pleasantly surprised when I tried them. I honestly thought bass response was awesome.
Really? I only tried them briefly one time, but I thought they were a little bit tinny, and the cable length was a little too short to use while my phone was in my pocket. And I'm not even super tall, just 6' 1".

Compared to my 6 year old Sony ear buds, the HTC's blow them out of the water. I also have a pair of cheap Philips ear buds and it's not even a fair comparison. I don't have any more modern ear buds to compare the HTC's to so maybe my experience is a little skewed.

I dunno, I've never paid more than like $20-$30 for a pair of buds (I'll occasionally get 1-2 pairs when 1SaleADay or Woot has a decent pair on sale), so my experience is probably skewed as well. Or maybe I've just had really great luck with my sale price buds and wasn't aware...
I've posted elsewhere that I think the included headphones are junk. If you move at all while you wear them, too much noise is transmitted acoustically through the wires and you hear a constant rubbing/thumping sound. Not good for active people. I also find the control button too unreliable. It seems to get randomly triggered when it's not even being pressed. And finally, I don't think they're easily stowable; it's a pain in the butt to get them coiled neatly and another pain in the butt to untangle them.
iPhone earbuds are superior, and I don't even like those . . .

Yeah praise would never have come to mind but LoL'd @that.
As stated above the earbuds make a lot of noise if you move at all c-CONFIRMED wierd in fact that they are so noisy.I can even hear my self breathe more loudly strangest ever I think. they have a little bass and sound alright when you are still definately not for jogging
they re more comfortable than most I have tried that go inside the ears. all in all i think htc should have given the opportunity to buy some really nice head phones for half price as an incentive to customers. I have lots of ideas lol. but anyway they get a 6 out of 9. I dont score over 9 so they score about a 66.6666 % so below C- average I guess but passing. keep in mind I strongly dislike all earbud style earphones. normally a 5 would be the max given score.
I would have to agree. The OEM HTC headphones kick ass. I always used to think that the Samsung OEM headphones were the best I had ever used (compared to Beats by Dre, and the 90$ Skull Candies) and when they would eventually wear out, go looking for another set to buy from someone. They were seriously good ear buds. But I think these HTC ones are even better. And I definetely appreciate the flat cord too. Seeing how I am usually forced to decommision a pair of headphones because they short out. I put them to heavy use. These are great so far, and sound amazing.
I need to try them out then...
I have Dre Beats earbuds that I got with the HTC Rezound. Still using those from like 2.5 years ago.
ByUt I will chime in if I hear a difference. If they are better than beats I will be really impressed.
I have some Beats earbuds myself. I was testing both on my couch and I got confused to which were in my ear.
I also praise Sammy earbuds. Been rocking different pairs of those for years. But yeah, the stock headphones hold their own for sure.

I think the included headphones are weak and subpar. I tried them out and put them right back in the box.

Seriously? Mine isn't good enough. I bought my own headset that will be working fine for me.
The OEM earbuds have great bass, but bass != quality like some people think. The mids and highs are also rather decent, and the overall sound is pleasing... until you hear some of the noise caused by the interference in the wire. The build quality in the materials is what I think drops the score on an otherwise decent speaker. I'd give them a 5 or 6.

These headphones do have a mic built in so if you are trying them on a PC make sure you disable the headphones/MIC in recording devices. that fixed it for me
I think they are pretty great actually
