I must be the only one, but I've tried to use Viper several times, and it definitely decreases the sound output on my N5

you have to use your own ears to set it up properly. if you dont do anything, it does nothing.

Thought it did if you weren't using the compatible mode?

When I tried to use Viper4Android, It always show that my driver status is Abnormal. Then if i set to compatibility, it doesn't allow me to play song on Google Music. Gosh ><

There is a flashable zip in this section that works perfectly.

I am hard of hearing i want the phone earpiece louder. That app does what is listed in post #2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...s/mod-headphone-speaker-volume-boost-t2532788.

If you are rooted, use v4a and fauxsound with compatible kernel. The n5 sounds amazing.

That only increases volume of the phone's speaker and headphone jack port. There is no mod that increases in-call volume.

Anyone know how to modify radio to increase ear piece volume?

I just updated my 9020A to 2.3.6 with radio KF1 (stock) and the ear piece volume is excellent nice and loud. The only drawback with the KF1 is that it caps the upload and download speeds. When I use the KB3 radio it unlocks the capped speeds but the drawback is the ear piece volume is not as loud. So my question is anyone capable of modifying the KB3 radio to include the volume levels of KF1 radio?
thanks,
Rob

Would this app boost the bluetooth audio (A2DP) on the SiriusXM app? I listen to Howard 100 and 101 and the audio on my Jawbone Prime is too quiet even at the highest setting. Commercials and other channels are plenty loud. The low volume seems to be specific to the Howard channels....

hmm weird bc im looking at a option in the voodoo app right now that allows you to turn the ear piece up.
You should try DSP Manager. You can control equalizer and manipulate other sound setting (e.g. bass) to increase the volume for Headset, Phone Speaker, and Bluetooth Device.
Download the attachment. If you have Root Explorer (or other file manager), make sure you set to Mount R/O, paste DSPManager.apk to system/app, long press DSPManager.apk, select Permissions, and change Permission to the following:

Reboot your device and you should see DSP Manager on your app drawer.

Volume+ can significantly increase the volume in speaker, headphones as well as blue tooth. All 3 options are separate and can be separately controlled. Check it out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12599609#post12599609
There was a triplet of audio gain values inside the chipset driver for the Nexus One. Check the corresponding driver in Nexus S kernel, you may find the same.
Modifying radio AFAIK has nothing to do with audio volume.

[Q] Does 4.4.1 Fix any of the audio issues ?

im wondering if 4.4.1 fixes any of the audio issues like the hissing during video recordings and low call volume etc....
Speaker is louder for me (notifications, calls, music). Not sure about the headset volume. Havent made note of it yet.

I notice a difference in unlocking the phone, locking it, playing music etc... I've also noticed stronger haptic feedback on top of the camera fixes.

I've noticed the same. I had to go back into Google Keyboard and tone it down because it was too strong for me, in my opinion.
I had no idea google keyboard had settings.
The inline mic recording is improved, but is still at a lower gain than the handset mic.
My speaker for notifications is much louder now, as is my vibration. I Was one of the people who's vibration was so minimal I couldn't always feel it even when it was right against me but, after the 4.4.1 update, it's MUCH stronger.

(HOW TO) Get PowerAmp working on 4.4.x ROMs.

I was playing around with CM11 today, and I was getting a little annoyed that PowerAmp repeatedly locked up between songs so I started to tweak it a bit!
There is no guarantee this will work, but these are the settings I have used to successfully get PowerAmp to work.
First of all, all of this takes place in the audio section under 'settings'.
1.) We are going to go to crossfade, gapless and fade section. Uncheck EVERYTHING. Make sure your settings look like mine below. (I think this is the main culprit).
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2.) Next, we will go to 'advanced tweaks' section. Audio thread priority and audio buffer need to be set to 'normal' and 'auto'. Below are my settings.
3.) Lastly, this is optional but it works for me. I turned OFF equalizer, and tone. I left limit ON, because it seems on CM11 the music gets distorted at high levels. With these my music is pretty crystal clear.
This worked for me, so I figured I'd share my results. Hope it helps at least one person out!
Also my music is currently on my external SD card, not sure of that makes a difference or not in the end result.

Low speaker volume only when someone calls

Hello everyone!
Today I bought Z5 and I already love it! But... someting's wrong.
When I listen to music etc, the volume of the speakers is loud enough.
Though when someone's calling me, the ringtone barely sounds.
When I preview it while selecting it, it sounds loud enough (for a Z phone).
I'm on 32.0.A.6.152.
Do you what's going on?
PS. Sorry for my bad english...
Separate volume controls for media, alarm and ringtone. Check to see if your ringtone volume is all the way up. English is excellent, by the way.

I already repaired it twice via PC Companion and I even installed version .200 customized UK since Customized GR (where I'm from) is stuck on .152
It's always the same.
SMS, e-mails, Music are ok. Only calls. Even when I'm sliding the ring volume to maximum, for like 500msec it sounds loud and suddenly the volume's becoming lower, thought the bar stays to maximum.
I don't believe it's the device's problem, because the speakers are working perfectly on everything else.
I tried PCC and xproof-flashtool, I changed and tried all possible (maybe) settings, but nothing.
Happy New Year everybody!!!
I don't know what happened, but it got fixed by itself.
I didn't do anything. I just left it and went to sleep.
I woke up and tested it and it's working fine!

Good news
Low volume in call
Searched this Low volume in call a lot and found no answer. Then tried uninstalling all apps that had anything to do with volume.
In call audio is ok now after reboot.
I have the same issue, The volume is really really low. Initially it starts okay and then it just decreases so fast. But when I play some music the volume totally fine.
Hope to see a fix in future updates.

It got fixed by itself. Sony said that this is normal.
Just wait some hours.
I didn't get used to it because it's still low. The same low as playing music.

Bluetooth volume

So I was wondering why there is such a huge difference in volume when I switch to BT over my truck speakers? There's been a few times when it would initially start, the volume seemed where it should be and how I like it. Then it switches to a maybe 4-5 notches lower and I have to turn my truck volume to match what it should be. I am not rooted and can't root since this is a Snapdragon variant. So is there. Anything I can do in my settings or a mod or something? I hate this low volume sound when I'm driving.
Thanks
Try settings>sound and vibration>volume
When at volume screen press on the three dots up right side(see pic)
Then press media volume limiter

Then turn it on and set the custom limit all the way to the end of the red line on the dot. That should be max. then you can use the radio volume buttons to raise or low.

I will try a test tomorrow in my own car. But yes you were right. I turn it on and set to max when in the car. When I use ear piece I turn it off so that it will automatically set the limit to where the red li e Starts by default. Tho k that's how it works.
