So, I have never had this happen on other phones, and this is the first time it happened on my N5. I was standing in line at the bank, I had just put my phone in my back pocket while I was standing there, and I heard some music, and thought to myself "That's strange, I was just listening to this song" then I noticed it was coming from my back pocket. My music had started playing, and the last time I was listening to music on the actual phone was last night.
Has anyone had this happen?
Never had that happen to me before. Do you have any mods installed (Xposed or something) that would start an action when long pressing a volume button or anything like that?
By the way, I see you are from Stockton. I'm from Lodi. lol

Hey Neighbor. LOL
Yeah I have gravitybox installed, but no settings that look like they would cause that. and I just tried holding the volume buttons, and nothing, I do have it set to skip tracks, but that's it.

The only thing I can think that would do that is if you had the music controls on the lockscreen still, which I think happens if you stop the music on the lockscreen and dont unlock the phone. Then maybe the button might have been pushed to turn the screen on and the play button was pressed. But you said it was the night before that you were listening to it so I don't know.

I think the title says it all. I would like shoot a long video in a fixed position, keeping the screen on is a real battery killer.
Cheers John
have you tried using a screen-off app tied to a hard button?
Yep, tried BlackMe 1.3 but that kills the camera from working. The camera doesn't seem to like working in the background. Tried just turning the screen off with the power button, hoping it would be like Mp3 players that keeps playing music.
Associate blackme to the center Dpad button, if you havent already.
Reason I suggest that, is so you can keep the camera/videorecorder in the foreground, and just hit that button to shut the screen off.
Obviously sometimes programs dont like working when the screen is off so idk if that will work.. but worth a try if you havent already (hard to tell from your response).;
If it does not, you would need a seperate video recording program that lets it record with the screen off. Dont know if those are available.
(also, hitting the power button is much different from blanking the screen .. so im not surprised the power button didnt work.)

Has anyone figured out a solution, yet? I've been wondering this since I got the phone...
Me want this too! Been searching for quite sometime but no luck. Come in handy if we want to take pic or vid discreetly, ehm..
Is there a way to at least "freeze" the option to power off?
Here's a bit of backstory, so you won't think I'm insane: My phone is the only alarm I have, and I'm prone to just turning off my phone when it goes off. So if I can't shut down my phone, then I have the perfect alarm. (And I already taped the battery cover you clever sneak)
Does anyone know if this can be done? Or if it has been done?
Get another alarm
Well, putting the option in the menu to reboot is made by modifying framework_res.apk. So you could probably do that also (I'm not really about this. Just guessing.). If you're asking to TOTALLY disable shutdown (like when long pressing the power button) I have no idea how to do that, unless there is a way to hijack that physical button.
My real suggestion would be to use Gentle Alarm. I had the same problem as you have, tried Gentle Alarm and haven't had the same problem since. Plus, I wake up feeling I had a good night's sleep.

its not possible without physically disabling the power button itself making the button inoperable but in turn you wont be able to wake from sleep or faded screen.
I think you need to just get yourself about 3 alarm clocks....or lay off the boos at night
Try the app button remapper, its on the market but I think it was also released for free on the internet

i've got my sensation for a while and its good so far, except i encountered a problem occasionally. once a while i would find my phone not generating any sound at all, no notification sound, no music, speaking simply not functioning. and at that state when i press the volume button, it shows up as "media volume" instead of "ringer volume", even i am in the home screen. couldn't fix it turning off and on the phoen again, had to reboot it to fix it.
anyone got the same problem? how do you guys fix it?
I've encountered this a couple of times already. don't know a fix besides restarting the phone. next time it happens I'm going to make a phone call to see if that'll kick it back in to gear.
Are you using the Talkin Tom Cat app? It will stop your phone from making any sounds and I've just checked that when pressing the volume buttons, media volume shows up even on the homescreen, just like you said.
no im not..it still happens..
I found a solution to fix this...plug in the headphone and turn on and off the fm radio...still kinda annoying though
any other known solutions?

My focus got wet & now only my volume down button kinda works... I use my headset to turn my volume up & down now... Is it a way to do this through the os without the hardware buttons? If not nodo... Mango?
I also wanted to know this, my buttons work fine but is there no on screen volume? and can you only fast forward and rewind by holding the forward and back arrows in zune?
Doesn't make since how many features that were in a old 2002 pocket pc's aren't in 2011 wp7....

The same exact thing happened to me. Except it was beer, and only the volume down worked.
But couple of weeks ago I started hard pressing the up button and suddenly it started working even though its kinda stiff. This was after being like this for 6 months! It was a miracle.
Hi guys,
there is a propram in the market place called media volume setting will do the job for you
Thanks for the help! But... that app no longer works with nodo or mango... Any other suggestions?

You have unlocked device?
I have a program that will set the volume at 25. I will upload it a bit later. I made it for my girlfriends phone that has a broken volume up button. Only problem is that adjusting volume from the registry requires a reboot to pick up the new setting. I am working on one for in call volume also.

I had a htc hd2 an unlocked it easy but i am having trouble with my focus.... Any easy methods?
I don't know if you still need to know this, since the thread is a couple months old, or if it will be helpful to anyone, but I had this exact same problem (except it was the condensation from a Subway cup), and recently came across an interesting solution.
There is a Trivia game you can download for free from the Marketplace called "Disney_Quiz" (screenshots included so you can make sure its the right one.) that will automatically turn the volume all the way up for you to 30/30.
I didn't do anything remotely special to make the volume turn up auto, I just fiddled a bit with the buttons in the game, clicked this here, clicked that there, tapped the volume down button on the phone a bunch of times, and eventually the volume restores itself to 30/30.
Hope this was of help.
P.S. The game itself sucks, but whenever I accidently turn my phone to silent and the volume drops to 0... it's nice to know I can still turn it back up.
Okay here's the deal I have a Windows phone I change my password but I forgot my password and I I can't hard reset it because my volume up button is broke so I was wondering if there was another way to unlock my Windows phone?
Randomly, my phone started doing weird things when my headset is plugged in. It has never done this before. I have a feeling that this started when I Assigned Buttons that was meant for 3-buttoned headset on to mine with one button.
Every time I set it to control music playback, it randomly plays different music from my music app. And when I set it to control volume level, the volume goes crazy. But I tried headphones with no buttons at all and it doesn't do crazy things.
I have MIUI 11.0.5 and I've tried searching for this problem but I couldn't find a solution. Is there, like, a way to reset the settings for the assigned buttons?
Also, let me ask this, why doesn't my settings doesn't have options for one buttoned headset?

I had the same issue. Turned out it was the issue with the headphone buttons. I just claimed money for the headphones and got refunded in full. If your headphones have warranty, claim it. If not, then there is just one thing you can do, put feviquick on the heaphone button so it can't be pressed at all.
P.S: It might even make the headphones unusable. Proceed with caution.
