Randomly, my phone started doing weird things when my headset is plugged in. It has never done this before. I have a feeling that this started when I Assigned Buttons that was meant for 3-buttoned headset on to mine with one button.
Every time I set it to control music playback, it randomly plays different music from my music app. And when I set it to control volume level, the volume goes crazy. But I tried headphones with no buttons at all and it doesn't do crazy things.
I have MIUI 11.0.5 and I've tried searching for this problem but I couldn't find a solution. Is there, like, a way to reset the settings for the assigned buttons?
Also, let me ask this, why doesn't my settings doesn't have options for one buttoned headset?

I had the same issue. Turned out it was the issue with the headphone buttons. I just claimed money for the headphones and got refunded in full. If your headphones have warranty, claim it. If not, then there is just one thing you can do, put feviquick on the heaphone button so it can't be pressed at all.
P.S: It might even make the headphones unusable. Proceed with caution.

Hi--
I had Inesoft Phone 4.5 on my kaiser, and all of a sudden my volume control (the knob on the side) stopped working. I uninstalled it, but still have the same problem. On every call, incoming and outgoing, the volume goes all the way UP...kinda like I'm perpetually on speakerphone. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? It's about to drive me NUTS! Thanks!

weird.. never heard of this problem.
try installing a different volume control.. and either keep it if it works or uninstall it to see if anything's change
So, I have never had this happen on other phones, and this is the first time it happened on my N5. I was standing in line at the bank, I had just put my phone in my back pocket while I was standing there, and I heard some music, and thought to myself "That's strange, I was just listening to this song" then I noticed it was coming from my back pocket. My music had started playing, and the last time I was listening to music on the actual phone was last night.
Has anyone had this happen?
Never had that happen to me before. Do you have any mods installed (Xposed or something) that would start an action when long pressing a volume button or anything like that?
By the way, I see you are from Stockton. I'm from Lodi. lol

Hey Neighbor. LOL
Yeah I have gravitybox installed, but no settings that look like they would cause that. and I just tried holding the volume buttons, and nothing, I do have it set to skip tracks, but that's it.

The only thing I can think that would do that is if you had the music controls on the lockscreen still, which I think happens if you stop the music on the lockscreen and dont unlock the phone. Then maybe the button might have been pushed to turn the screen on and the play button was pressed. But you said it was the night before that you were listening to it so I don't know.
Hi,
So I've had my M8 for a little while, rooted stock rom. I've been noticing lately that the music sounds kind of muffled and odd when a song starts until I hit the Home button, then it's normal. It does this every time there is a new song playing, happens with both Google Play and Pandora (I didn't try anything else, I only use those 2), and happens with both my Skullcandy headphones and the earbuds that came with the phone, and some other ones that were laying around the house. It doesn't do this when connected to my car with bluetooth though. I haven't done any sound mods or anything. It's driving my crazy!
Thanks!
I've noticed it while playing through my car. I just turn up the volume lol
Changing the volume doesn't do anything for me.
It sounds kind of muffled / mixed poorly (I hear more of the background) until I press the home key.
I have a problem... Speaker phone is shouting in to my ear and I am unable to tune the volume down: it will not react to volume buttons during a call and I could not find any other way to adjust it.
People are "shouting in to my ear and I start talking loud as well... Very frustrating.
Any suggestions?
- Try restarting the phone
Tried that at least once in past 6 months of usage.
- Reflash stock
It is stock.
Anyone else have ideas? How does (and should for me) volume control work on your phones?
- Re-flash stock, because maybe you change something or installed a mod that interfere with the speaker.
I'm so frustrated. I lower the ringtone volume on my phone to a normal, human level. I don't mess with it. Then inevitably my phone rings and the volume is somehow back to super ridiculously freaking loud. What is changing my volumes? I've tried different things to see if I can trigger the change but it seems to happen by itself with no apparent trigger. Am I the only one with this issue? I'm pretty close to building Tasker profiles to put a bandaid on it, but it would be great to know the root cause.
Maybe you have this enabled in dialer settings?
Thanks for your reply. I was really hoping that would be it but strangely I don't even have that setting. I'm on MHA-L29C567B138
UPDATE: This setting cannot be found in the normal phone settings. Searching for "pocket" there returns no results. It's only accessible through the phone dialer, and the 3-dot menu that appears there. When I finally found it, I found it was set to "ON" so I turned it off. We'll see what happens.

Thanks! It got to the point where I just left the thing on vibrate! I've turned this setting off, I'm going to give it a spin tomorrow and hopefully it's successful! Man this things LOUD!??
So after finding and disabling pocket mode, I set my ring volume low. I booted to recovery to clear the cache partition for good measure. Restarted. Volume still low. Charged my phone, had it next to me while sleeping, had it in my pocket, brought it to my desk, and checked the volume. Still low. Fixed? So I thought... Then 2 minutes later it rang LOUD and scared the crap out of me. I literally just checked the volume and it was low, but when the call came in it set itself all the way up. WT actual F?
So then I ran some more tests.
1. I set the ring volume to the lowest before the bottom volume, and turned off he phone screen. Then I called myself from my land line. The call came in with the volume up at about 80%.
I hung up, turned it back down.
2. this time I didn't turn the screen off. Just left it sitting there immediately after lowering the volume. Called the phone and it rang again at about 80% volume.
I FIXED IT!
Turns out when I got the phone and google moved my apps over from my old phone I moved over "Profile Widget", which I used to use in combination with Tasker on my old rooted Note 3 to manage my volumes. I never opened Profile Widget or had it on my desktop, but it was installed because it came along for the ride when google restored my apps from my account. I uninstalled Profile Widget entirely, and now my ringtone volume is respected.
I hope this helps someone else. If it's not "Profile Widget", try opening the "phone manager" app, click on "permissions" , click on "phone", and see what is listed and enabled there. That's how I tracked down what it could be on my device.
I found the solution, the ringtone volume keeps resetting itself to load because the pocketmode is switched on, so basically the concept of pocket mode is the volume goes up anytime the phone is in your pocket or is covered by something so that you don't miss you call.
To turn it off, open the dialer, go to settings, find pocket mode and toggle it off.
To find the dialer just search it in the search bar, the click on the three dots at the bottom of the screen to access the settings.
Thank You.
what is the minimum of the sound ..i cannot put less then 25% in volume setings..but this is same to loud for me
pocekt mode is off ...
