I just got myself a XIaomi mi3
everything was fine i but two days into use I find myself at the eng of a nagging problem..
the bottom edge of the screen is dim compared to other edges , this is apparent mostly when you are viewing white pages.and the top edge is slightly brighter..im not sure whether i can say it is backlight bleed or not..but when i loaded a full screen black page..there was a bit more light coming out of top and bit less
MY question is this a problem worth replacing the phone..? i can live with this as its not much of a deal breaker for daily use..you dont notice it often
Does it have any impications on the life of LCD , battery life etc?
Here are some pics i tried ,but the camera is poor and i dont think i was really able to capture the issue ..but i you look closely you can see the difference between top and bottom edges [top is left side btw]

no way i would "live" with any problem like that on a phone i just bought. if nothing other than being annoyed it doesnt look like it should, i would be worried constantly that it will get worse or spread.
if it were mine, it would have gone back the second i noticed that.
yeah thanx for the reply man ,which is exactly what im doing..hoping the new device doesnt have issues
Display bleed issue

Does replacement Mi3 have bleeding issue too?
Seems it's a bit common, the replacement does have it but compared to the original one it's far less
You will notice it if you look for it., using the phone for over 2 months
No problems otherwise

I really love my Captivate... but the screen is annoying me. Sitting next to my Evo, the pixellation on the Captivate is EXTREMELY noticeable and makes the phone look like it has a crappier resolution even though its .3inches smaller.
I imagine that I'm just stuck with this? Why would they do this? It makes the phone's display, which is a premium display, look like its cheap!
I've noticed it almost looks like the pentile pixels move around so I wonder if its a software feature and not just the screen or is that just wishful thinking?
man... you have a VERY good eyes... but the cappy screen is VERY good...
I have noticed that too my friend samsung mesmerise or whstever its called look better and less pixely but i guess its just the scrren you csnt do nothing about it

Well I used the Evo for ... well when did it come out, june? So I've used it since then... so its really easy for me to spot the pentile effect on the Captivate.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Captivate... but actually having to zoom in the browser now to read things is not my most favorite thing in the world. On my Evo, I would hardly ever zoom in landscape... and I wouldn't have to with the Captivate either but for the stupid pentile matrix on the display. I don't notice it so much with videos and things (which are absolutely phenomenal), just with white screens or when I'm browsing or holding the phone too close to my face. And the pentiles DO move - I'm guessing this is to prevent the AMOLED burn-in?
pentile = pixelization? or my english is too bad to understand you?
Pentile is different on the pixel level than LCD's. Here's a visual...

Read the picture. It says there's 33% fewer subpixels, therefore less detail in the end (especially with text). The LCD displays have S-AMOLED beat by a pretty good margin with detail. Personally though, I love it because of the contrast ratios and color reproduction. It's the KING of black levels, with 100,000:1 static contrast ratio.
Guess we're just hosed on it... feels like 33% less resolution which is unacceptable...
I have a DroidX and a SGS, the SGS blows away the Droid X screen. But one thing I noticed is with the stock screen protector on it would make text look funny. You should try removing it and see if it helps. It was like my screen protector was reflecting light or something. Switched it out with a universal one and poof all better.
Hi,
I originally posted here:

But my issue has somewhat changed. I realised that the phone was still working, and i could see stuff on the blank screen if i shined a flash light at the screen. This led me to beleive it was the backlight that was broke.
I investigated replacement screens and it seems that there a lot of cheap replica screens out there that have their own issues, and rather than pay full price for a legitimate LG part (around £95) I decided to buy a second hand faulty N5 from eBay that had a working screen (£50). The one I purchased had an issue with its mic, and the screen works perfectly fine.
I placed my motherboard into this phone from ebay, but it became apparent that the same issue was happening. The backlight wasnt working in this other phone.
I placed the motherboard from the phone I bought off ebay and it worked with the screen in my own phone!
So the problem seems to be isolated to this part:

I didnt think the backlight would have anything to do with this, however its the only part I have swapped around. :/
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Same issue?

Was your problem like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jq0buYBFdKc ?
I am having this issue, the brightness is very low and still at maximum, the image is poor. I don't know if buying a new mainboard or a display
Thanks!
Last night while using my phone in the dark, the brightness set down low, I noticed on sites that were darker themed that there is an odd anomaly in my screen. There is a line (that reminds me of a hair, maybe an eyelash) that only shows when the brightness is low. I was able to take a picture of it with my girlfriends G3, though it's much more noticeable when you're using the phone, as it's stationary when you scroll.

This is my first Super AMOLED screen in a while, but I don't remember anything like this before.
If it truly bothers you i'd see if your carrier will exchange it for you. I had a notification light go out and tmobile exchanged it forb $5. You'Lloyd get a refurbished device, but eliminate this issue.

You realize the lights are so bright in store something like this would never show up, right?
Actually, those spots are not considered a defect in Samsung's eyes. The spots are the nature of producing amoled screens. My old PSVita(3g wifi) model are riddled with these ink spots that are only visible on a black background in a very dark environment. Also my s3 and s4 had them. Not all of them has these spots and some are more prevalent than others. It's just the luck of the draw when it comes to this matter.

Hello guys,
I noticed a slight misalignment with my fingerprint scanner on the Pixel 3 White 128 GB. I'm not sure if this is a singular issue or if it affects all other Pixel 3 phones / only this charge. I'm not sure if I should return it / get a new one (bought it today).

Are you sure? I decided to take a magnifying lens. I also heard about this "issue" in a Youtube video about the Pixel 3. It's just a slight line, maybe less than a mm, but it's stil there - on a thousand dollar product.
Or maybe I am wrong. This is something difficult to notice. And only from a certain angle. Maybe you guys can try to reproduce it on your devices?
Maybe only the Clearly White 128 GB charge of the small Pixel 3 is affected. Who knows.
Looks a bit misaligned to me. Mine isn't off center like that, so they're not all that way. Question is if it works ok how OCD are you? Only other thought is if it's not sealed well enough it might allow moisture to get in, but that's the only possible risk I can see if it works well.
I have the same issue on my 128gb white one
same issue on my 64GB not pink @@

Its an optical illusion, as you are looking at shadows through glass. You can see in your second photo, if you remove the "depth" of the shadow layer, the fingerprint sensor sits right in the middle.
Look at the back of your pixel and hold it upside down. Look more normal? Now turn your pixel to the side..any difference?
You can also try looking at it in a semi-dark room. You wont see any shadows, it should look normal.
same issue on my white 64. at first i thought it was just the back glass etching. but it is slightly off center.
Just got my pixel 3 white 64gb and mine is off to the left. Can't un-see now... hopefully the iprating isn't compromised
Just got mine today and same thing, the google expert said nothing wrong. I sent pictures. Same thread on reddit, but i pushed the sensor and it does shift to cover the space, for everyone saying its an optical illusion.
Somewhat related to this, Got a Pixel 3 that had sealing adhesive coming out from top right of the phone. There was not a lot of goo coming out but definitely not acceptable for a $800 phone. It seems the tolerances on Pixel 3 to push them out to market are not great.
Hi everyone
So after 3 years of use, this started happening to my Xiaomi Mi5 yesterday... out of nowhere... wasn't doing anything different... the screen just started showing artifacts...
I opened it up and there was nothing wrong with the flat cable or anything else... tried disconnecting the screen, battery but nothing worked so I guess I need to replace the LCD... I doubt this is software related as it happens during boot as well...
Now the question is where to find a GOOD quality LCD screen... In Aliexpress and Ebay the opinions are totally mixed between "crap" and "worth it" so I really don't know where to get one. Do you guys have any recommendations?

Hey! Cracked the screen on my mi5 and had to replace the LCD too. Bought it from aliexpress. Quality isnt number one but it gets the job done. Though there is some yellowish black tint on the left side as seen in the picture.

i was expecting LGE. original has jde, sharp and even lge. best display panels are from jde, and even sharp are good. lge display comes third, not as good as jde. i havent seen sharp yet, i have compared jde & lge, and they have quality difference. jde was sharp in color.
