[Q] Quick boot game? - General Questions and Answers

Hello!
I'm playing a game that I have two accounts for, and have dual booted my phone to accomplish this.
However the time between changing the two accounts (rebooting to other ROM) is quite long, so I wondered if there's any ROM that are exceptionally fast to boot into?
Or is there a way to boot into some void space on the phone and just run that single application? (requires wifi)
EDIT: Forgot to mention; I have an Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505

Try a de-odexed ROM as they are much faster than regular odexed ROMs but remember no matter how good the ROM or the phone is things still take time to boot no matter what

[Q] Noob android question

I'm kinda new to the smart phones, and planning on getting a Samsung Galaxy S 4G. I like the specs on it.
But im so used to typing things with using the buttons on cell phones and using the up and down arrows to scroll.
I demoed the Samsung Galaxy earlier today and you scroll up and down the pages with your finger of course. is there any settings on the OS which is android to put up and down arrow keys on the screen, as well as left or right ?
any download recomendations for it ?
id rather just hold the down arrow key to scroll down then to swipe with my finger.
Also does the GPs built in on the Galaxy get the data from satelite or from the tower from T-mobile ? and do they charge u for the service ?
I am really needing help about my Samsung Galaxy GT-i9000. I've been searching the internet for 8 straight hours and still no go. Perhaps I am not good in searching or simply really not familiar with the situation. I tried searching here, too but it has now taken me a ridiculous amount of time and effort to no avail. Please bear with me. (this is my first post)
I rooted my phone about a week ago (after months of searching I finally did it!) Then it took me a while to flash a new rom. I got Darky's via the ROM downloads using Rom Manager - I was ecstatic! I was happy with it but out of curiosity I wanted to try Cyanogen 7 which, again, I flashed this morning.
I was able to flash Cyanogen 7 but for some reason the Android Market isn't working. So I decided to Restore the previous setting/rom (Darky's) but here is where the problem started.
I am now unable to use my phone. I just turn it on and I am stuck in "Galaxy S GT-I9000) forever. I press up+home+power but just goes back to the same screen. I tried down+home+power and I was just glad it worked. However, I don't know what to do. Based on what I have searched I (still unsure here ok?) might be required to flash a new base rom or kernel - really, all these information overwhelms me.
To experienced users, perhaps I don't know the right questions to ask. All I want is for me to be able to use the phone again. Please help me, 8 hours straight of searching has got me dizzied. How can I get past this screen? There are some information I've come across like flashing a base rom, which I wanted to try, but it asks for information such about my phone (such as whether it is JVx or JVy or JVanything) which I don't have because I cant get in it!
Please guide me? Thank you very much.
......Anyone know ?
Youll get used to it.

You didnt look hard enough...
Sounds like you are on a boot loop.
just download a stock rom from here and flash via Odin. Or install a custom rom via odin.
I personally semi bricked mine during and official update as I didnt remove OCLF before I did it. I just picked a rom off the thread and reflashed. I had no idea what was on there before but if you are putting a custom rom on anyway, I only did it to get rom manager working.
so long as you can get into download ( the yellow triangle) you can recover it easily in Odin.
Odin is a doddle to use aswell. Just follow the guides!
You need to wipe properly before flashing a new rom or restoring. Wipe data, cache and dalvik before restoring next time.
The reason you didn't have the market on CM7 is because you have to flash google apps (gapps) separately. This should have been explained in the thread for CM7 or on the Cyanogenmod site.
You need to read everything before you flash something, or else you'll run into problems.

You'll get used to the scrolling. If you must use other means of scrolling, Dolphin Browser HD has an option to use the volume buttons to scroll up/down the page. I'd try to get used to touch scrolling though, you don't want to wear down your hardware buttons.
The GPS built in is free, and it does use GPS satellites. Be sure to turn GPS off when you're not using it to save battery. The phone should come preloaded with Google Maps/Navigation. If it doesn't, download Google Maps from the market, it includes Google Nav.
For reasons other than navigation where you want to share your location with an app - for example, a weather app that determines your location - you can use mobile networks as a means of location. This way you can keep GPS off unless you need it for directions or navigation.

The built in GPS can actually use both sattelites and wireless networks to help get a fix on you location faster. You can choose to disable it in the settings.
Thanks guys! I actually was able to fix it a few hours after I posted here.. I didn't expect you guys to answer that quickly. I just checked back now ;-) I might have checked sooner hadn't I found a way around it.
Anyways, yes it was a boot loop. I remember finding this article saying how to fix it. It said I needed to download some files mainly Darky's and Odin. It was the first time I used Odin so I was really extra careful lol. It (flash) took me 3-4 hours because I was stuck again in boot mode. I did that process maybe around 3 or 4 times. Until now I'm not sure whether or not I completed it or simply flashed the same Darky I had as back up. I pushed too many buttons- can't remember anymore. (not so good in english, I hope I started that clearly. My first custom ROM that I got from ROM Manager is Darky's, then the fix that I attempted to use via Odin is also Darky's )
Anyway, I haven't flashed a new ROM since then. I'm going to spend a little more time with what I have. But knowing me, I probably will in a matter of days ;p
Thanks again!

[Q] N8013 Random Reboots- Requesting Help

Device: Note 10.1 N8013 (Wi-Fi Only Model)
The Problem:
The device randomly reboots itself- it's happened while I was scrolling between pages on the launcher, connecting to a WiFi network, and sometimes even when the device was just sitting on its own.
So far, it's happened on every custom ROM I've tried (Omni, IOKP, IOAP and CM), and even Stock TW flashed via Odin with and without a PIT File.
The duration between reboots is inconsistent, but it's always a full reboot- suddenly back to the Samsung logo and then the ROM logo, beore the system loads up normally.
Probable Causes (my best guesses):
Apps are almost definitely not a cause, because I only install a handful (ES File Explorer, GoldenDict, AnyMemo, Mantano Reader, Skype, Manga Watcher, Opera Browser, MXPlayer, AdAway, Greenify and Helium backup).
***One particular event sticks out to me though: early on when I first got the device, the battery ran out, and I had to leave it as is for 2 weeks, due to some family issues.
My Questions:
1.) How would I go about diagnosing the cause of the random reboots?
2.) Could the extended Battery depletion described above be the cause of my instability issues?
3.) If my current battery is indeed the problem, should I buy a replacement from NewPower99? I am worried that since the Note 10.1 is a 2-year old device, a Li-Ion Battery sitting on a store shelf for such a long duration would be no better than the stock one I have now.
Note: Unfortunately, I waited too long and the tablet is beyond its Warranty Date, so sending it in for repair/replacement is not an option.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I'd really appreciate any help/advice you can give!

Thank you, badralamoudy. It's nice to know I'm not alone with this problem. Two quick follow-ups though:
1.) Which ROM are you using right now?
2.) Have you replaced the battery on your device? If you have, did it fix the random reboot problem?
Thank you for trying to help.

1- omni rom
2- no
my battery is good and still reboot randomly
I used Omega ROM before omni and it was stable
when you flash back to stock. Do you let google play reinstall your apps and data.
My Suggestion is flashing back to the latest Samsung full firmware . Then Do not let google play reinstall your apps or app data..
Install only one at one day See how it does . another the next day and so on
OHH After you flash the new stock firmware . Reboot and do a factory restore .
I have had this issue with my nexus and other devices when i flashed alot. I think its just left over data or something corrupt you are restoring

S5 glitching in and out of monitor mode? or just a patchwork mess?

Im new to all this so pay no attention if its nonsence...
My S5 G900f has a qualcomm snapdragon chipset, that doesn't support monitor mode, which i believe means that it doesnt support packet injections or packet capturing (driver related?)
using the dsploit.apk for things like session hijacking, replacing web page images of a target and using script 'injection' to inject custom java script into a target web page, all sounds like things you'd need monitor mode to do. and if it is then i was able to do it with my S5.
I dont know a lot about coding or how it all fits together and communicates with the hardware, so i may sound completely stupid, but this has done my head in for ages, so why not get it out there.
1. when i attempted to upgrade from my first custom rom, i had a bit of trouble, softbricked my phone and then flashed the two roms in various, alternate, wipe, format and install combinations until it finally booted to set up, and i stopped panicking. but this caused features from the first rom to appear within the second rom.
ie: 3minute battery mod was installed through a add-on zip along with the first rom and nothing to do with the second at all.
2. inconsistencies within the file system, like file names that were apps included with the first rom.
3. dsploit.apk was bugged and crashed every 5 or 10 minutes. then would seem to glitch or stutter for a couple seconds before correcting its self and accomplishing its pen test.
4. i also remember watching green text in the terminal as it failed to connect or ID some part of the system but continued to retry in quick succession until it glitched and worked. (i think this was a similar type of app i was trying out at the same time but instead of GUI stutters, i could see the text rapidly stuttering and glitching.)
4. the dsploit.apk worked for me back then, even though it was temperamental. ive downloaded the apk a couple times since with various roms and ive got no where with it...
was thinking maybe different aspects of the two roms had been filed or grouped together and created unstable triggers within the software, allowing it to briefly communicate with the chipset. i may be way off, but ive been sat here waiting for someone to solve this issue forever, i thought id share my thoughts, on the off chance it turns out to be something and i can finally get my S5 into monitor mode without OTG cables and other unwanted auxiliary components.
thanks in advance
G Carter
Do a clean install of you ROM, and please, don't panick. If you want to have a good time flashing ROMs and stuff, panicking is the last thing you want to do, it will cause stress and stress can lead to not being careful enough so stuff like this happens, well, always, if you are experiencing issues do a clean install. Just boot into recovery (I recommend TWRP) and wipe everything except external sd. Open ADB and sideload the ROM (or, if you have enough memory on a flash drive, plug it into your android and flash it from there) and then Google Apps.

Having spontaneous crashing/bootloop?

Hey everybody! I've spent the last few months developing a custom ROM for my Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930W8 Unlocked) and I've been running into the strangest issue.
So I have the ROM all up and working. It's great. Accomplished all I am looking for it to do. Debloated, Magisk Hide, MigiskSU, BusyBox, working without Xposed framework (waiting to update it to Xposed when Xposed for the S7 is a bit more stable), easy to flash with TWRP or CWM. Can also be manually flashed with Odin.
The cool thing about this ROM is that once I am finished making sure the ROM is bootable and all working 110% without major flaws I will be making it guest bootable. What I mean by that is allowing a "Light" version of the ROM to be loaded onto a external SD and bootable for basic functionality. The reason for this is to keep the custom image and the stock image separate so that should something happen with the custom image the stock image remains untouched. The secondary reason would be that I am hoping this will open the door for a way to utilize a custom ROM without tripping Knox.
Those are all semantics however and I am not even sure it's possible to do.
On to my problem.
The ROM runs flawlessly (as close to flawless as software gets) about 90% of the time. The major problem is it seems I have stumbled across a huge crash error. The ROM completely crashed and bootlooped. The funny thing with this is I wasn't even doing a stress test or anything. It has passed stress tests with flying colours actually!
However, during typical consumer use (watching videos and texting etc. Using it just like a regular user would) it started making a horrendous noise. Like the noise a computer makes when the disk in the tray starts skipping and sputtering. Like a fire truck horn.
I couldn't find any cause of this issue. I don't know if it was the browser (Samsung Internet) or the ROM or the hardware. My question is this:
Have any of you experienced this in the past and have you figured out the cause and the solution?
Any help would be awesome so I can fix a critical error in my project here.
EDIT
My Project is based of the stock Herolte Exynos ROM and Kernel. Nothing special quite yet. Once I solve all the major problems I will start tweaking a bit more but for now I am keeping it as simple as I can. Device info follows:
Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930W8 Herolte Exynos)
Android Nougat (7.0)
Carrier: Koodo (Unlocked but bought from Koodo)
Changes made to the system noted above.

Rooted phone successfully with twrp + magisk, 4 hours later, +many reboots: BOOTLOOP

Hey folks! Good to see yall again. Been a few years for me since I've had anything to contribute here.
This thread is meant to describe a problem.
So here's the scoop:
While trying to get a GPS spoofer to work, I happened down the inevitable must-root-path. Starting with a first gen ipod touch with a dope Halo theme, to my palm pre through my two samsung phones htc evo4g etc lmao its been a ride.
Seems like things have gotten slightly more challenging (or I've gotten too old to consider mundane crap easy....)
SO! TWRP loaded through adb+fastboot, then magisk patched current android 10 firmware.
Was that my issue? That's my guess.
Through the night I was trying to get a gps spoofer to copy to /system/priv-app/ and was struggling like hell. Plenty of reboots, plenty of uninstalling apps, etc. The last inputs I was trying to figure out are included in this album here
now i'm stuck in a bootloop that first starts at bootloader, then to google logo, then restarts, bootloader > google logo > bootloader > google loader
Please help!
I know the folks here are passionate and very helpful, if you need further info I will reply during after-blue-collar-work hours PST during the week.
I have tried to load in to fastboot, but can't connect to phone from adb without first enabling ptp or filesharing
Fixed, help no longer needed
