It seems really helpful.
I've tried but seems nothing happen on my XT720,UK eclair rom.
I think some changes are needed to run it on xt720.

How's it different from Open/Androidiani Recovery? From what I read there, you hold volume down while booting to enter a menu (we use volume up to enter the recovery menu), but I can't tell what the menu contains or if that is additional to the OR menu. Are there any screenshots? I don't understand what is the advantage?
It looks like they are saying Defy now has working 2nd-boot! (but not implemented in this menu yet)? Is that correct?

Open/Androidiani Recovery has way more options than the defy one...

I hope that it is something very obvious that I am missing, but how do you go back to the previous screen in the modified clockwork mod recovery?
Scroll down until you pass throught the menu three times, then the go back option should show up at the bottom of every menu.
This should have just been asked in the main thread.... at the moment mapping is still broken, either user adb reboot command while you are in clockwork or just pull the battery.

I am going to try to fix CWM for us then so that the buttons all work (not sure why they don't now anyway) or at least enable the "Go Back" menu option by default.
I rooted my alcatel ot 4033E and tried installing various roms for it and all the phone still worked fine and would boot to recovery mode but when I installed a specific rom which is the yandex kit rom I didn't really like because there were sound and vibration issues with it so I tried to boot into recovery mode manually using the volume up + power button but this is what happened:
boots up -> android logo -> animation -> black screen -> animation -> android is upgrading -> normal boot up
its like it totally skips the android recovery mode
I've tried to boot it into recovery mode by CWM but still didn't work
Has anyone experienced this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?
Please I really want to change my rom. It has been this way for many months already :crying::crying::crying:
Hi,
Thanks for using XDA Assist.
Did you try using the advanced power menu when being into Android?
You may want to ask your question in the friendly Android help thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2259645
Good luck.

Hold the Power button when being on your homescreen. You have to enable this feature on some custom roms (Tweak menus or Developer options).

Check your settings. It depends on your rom and you may not have it. Please ask in the above thread to get further assistance.
Hello.
A friend of mine brought me an s6 that is hardbircked and asked me to fix it. I cannot enter safemod or download mode. The only thing that i cand do is enter into a thing that says "enter boot mode" where i can navigate but cant select anything.
So i was wandering if there is any solutinon for this or is the phone dead?
Right first of hold down all the buttens ( vol up , down, home , power) and the phone should turn on then go to black , once its black , hold power + vol down to accsess download mode then flash the right firmware for the device , this is how i fix my s6 when i hard brick it
if this dosnt work do you know what your friend did to it to hard brick it and the model number ( flash a bad kernal , change the bootsplash badly etc)

Thanks for replying,
It didn't enter download mode, it shows the same "Select boot mode" menu. My friend said that the phone was rooted and he tried to unroot it. What do you think i should try in this situation?
Can u send a image of this "select boot mode" menu because ive never encounted this menu as far as i remeber

Normaly you use volumes to go up and down etc and the power butten is to select , so how do u acsess this menu , does it just happen when u turn it on or etc
EDIT In your image does it say vol down is select , i cant read it cause of the reflection of the light sorry
PC recognise the phone while in this mode?
Try some ADB commands to see if you have acces to it. If that, then type adb reboot bootloader and maybe you're lucky to get it to work.

I dont have acces through adb. I've tried. I was thinking maybe an usb jig would help. What do you think?
You can try usb jig as it's only few bucks on ebay. If not maybe jtag and that's it.

Update: The jig did not work.
Is there anything that would give you more control over your phone like advanced startup options
somthing like when windows hasnt corectly shut down and it promts the user if he wants to boot safe mode.
Thanks in advance.

Safe Mode is possible in Android (Android 5.x an onward, maybe).
Long click on Power Button.
You'll see power many (Power Off, reboot and probably more options).
Long click on "Power Off" option.
You'll be asked if you would like to reboot to "Safe Mode".
Choose "Ok".
Upon reboot, you'll be in "Safe Mode".
To exit it, just do a normal reboot.
Note: You'll see "Safe mode" in the left lower corner once you're in safe mode.
Thats not what i meant what i asked was if there was like ehh dunno like the f8 options
