CWM Recovery Navigation - Verizon Droid Charge

I hope that it is something very obvious that I am missing, but how do you go back to the previous screen in the modified clockwork mod recovery?

Scroll down until you pass throught the menu three times, then the go back option should show up at the bottom of every menu.

This should have just been asked in the main thread.... at the moment mapping is still broken, either user adb reboot command while you are in clockwork or just pull the battery.

Post in the Correct Forums Thanks

I am going to try to fix CWM for us then so that the buttons all work (not sure why they don't now anyway) or at least enable the "Go Back" menu option by default.

I'm stuck, dunno if I am in setup... adb shell says no device found and no noise when plugging in usb so assume debugging is off.
USE THIS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
Much easier. Thought i'd add a note here so it gets front page coverage

Turn your phone off and remove PB99IMG.zip from your GoldCard. Hold vol-down + power. Wait 15 secs. Press vol-down x2, power button x1, vol-up x1. This will wipe userdata and reboot phone. Now start from step 10.
If I press search I get feedback from screen so I assume I am past setup. It's just enabling debugging now.

wow, thats great. sounds very complicated to get the correct number of scroll downs! is there no way to do the blank screen fix sooner in the rooting process instead of counting?
good luck to anyone trying this then.
You could try tapping the right bottom corner 13 times, but the correct number of scrolls is a better solution AFAIK.
Just thought i'd chip in here, if you're not sure where you are in the setup wizard, you can just restart the phone to begin it again, with...
(if bottom keys are unlit firstly)
press power short
swipe down the screen
(then)
power button long press, phone will briefly vibrate
joystick up a few times
joystick click
joystick click
That's to say, you don't need to wipe the phone in the recovery menu to restart the setup wizard, just restart it normally.
Also worth noting if i let the bottom keys go unlit, the phone was in standby, so to begin the setup wizard i had to do a short press on the power button to light up the keys, and swipe down the unlit screen to unlock the phone.

These steps may be easier for enabling debugging:
1. Wait a couple of minutes (so the display would switch off normally).
2. Press power once, and swipe down the screen.
3. Press menu. Right 4-5 times, down 2 times, press. (now in settings).
4. Swipe up on the screen to scroll down to the bottom.
5. Down one, press. Now (hopefully) in Applications.
6. Down 5-6 times, press.
7. Up a few times, press.
8. Press once more to confirm debugging.
If it doesn't work, press back 5-6 times and try again, though you can skips steps 1 and 2 if you do it straight away.
(I tried simulating this a couple of times by covering the screen so I couldn't see, and it worked each time)
edit: step 4-5 isn't completely reliable. It may be better to do step 4 and then try to press the part of the screen where the option is, near the top just below the + of the vol button.
Wow! Great job!

I couldn't get into USB debugging using the instructions in the first post, but this worked perfectly. (First attempt)
Tried multiple times, different steps. Going through it with lollylost on msn.
Anyone else wanna help out? He has to go.
Edit: Error 140 on RUU!

You didn't copy update.zip or didn't flash it through recovery.
After step 28, should I be able to see something on the screen? (It rebooted, but the screen is still black.) Unrevoked said the root was successful.

Yup thanks alot all. If only usb debugging could be done another way this would be extremely easy. Ah well.
All went smoothly... apart from the re-rooting process!!
All of the no display bits were fine, unrevoked worked fine and I now have a clean non vodafone 1.21.405.2 but when I run unrevoked a second time to root again I have the same issue that I started with which is that my phone refuses to go into recovery!!! ODD.
Thanks so much for all the help so far, I am tempted to just apply the 2.2 update that I am prompted with now as I have no root anyway and at least then I will have 2.2 with no root!!!
Does this change how a custom ROM is installed? I'm following the tutorial here, but won't using the update.zip in that link break the screen again?

Ignore that. Install the ROM through custom recovery (be sure to do a nandroid backup first).

Epic Recovery Mode & Download Mode

Just FYI in case anyone wants to know:
For download mode, with the phone turned off, phold the number 1 key on the QWERTY keyboard and the power button simultaneously
For recovery mode, with the phone turned off, hold Volume Down, CAmera, and Power simultaneously.
You navigate with volume UP/DOWN, select with HOME, Menu toggles to "Manual Mode", whatever that it.
Enjoy

What is download mode?
Download mode is the mode you put the phone into to be able to flsh new software to it from a pc. Anyone going to this phone from the Moment will know exactly what it is.

Mass Storage mount... Basically, does download mode turn it into a mass storage USB device?
Oh I gotcha. No it does not.
had epic 2.1.1 rooted with one-click method from sdx, seemed fine after superuser and busybox install or several hours.
HOWEVER, after installing Lauchad (maybe coincidence), my phone went into a cont. reboot every 30sec about. I managed to uninstall some recent apps with no avail.
I am doing a recovery/wipe-factory now....seems hung at little image of package opening with droid logo....
Should I force power-cycle?
Thanks!
I entered Download Mode and its stocked at Downloading. Do not turn off target. Is this the main screen?
Edit: Yes. Thats the Main Screen.
Hmm.. So we only need someone to create the Update.zip?
Quick question. I entered download mode.. I got the downloading! do not turn off target!!! How do I get out of this screen??

Either use Odin to flash a new rom, or pull your battery out of the phone. As long as it's not mid-flash, you can turn it off without consequence. Obviously if you were flashing a rom, you wouldn't want to be pulling the battery out in the middle of it, of course...
FYI this mode isn't something anyone should need to access regularly. Please see this post for more information on the use of Download mode and how to return your phone to stock.

Update.zip? You mean for Recovery mode? No, that's not necessary for custom roms or anything... You would want to use Clockwork recovery, not the stock recovery, and the .zip can be named anything. Update.zip is generally how the stock recovery flashes an OTA update after it's downloaded. If I recall, it has to pass a checksum before it'd flash - you couldn't just zip some files together and call it "update.zip" and expect it to work. With Clockwork Recovery you would.
Thank you very much... Yeah it was not mid flash, which would be way worse. I am just getting accustomed to all the different menus and various screens. I got into the mode, just to give it a try and was worried about just pulling the battery. Didnt think it would really matter since i wasnt flashing or anything. But figured I would ask first to save some headaches. Trying to read up and learn all I can about this thing. Clockworked and rooted, getting ready for the first rom go!

Help, Please

So i disabled media room. now my sk4g fc on boot. I got into CWM 2.5.1 menu, can navigate the menu with power button but how do you select the option you want to use? Any help is really appreciated.
You navigate the menu with the Volume +/- keys and select with the power button. You're only using the left side of the phone viewed with the text upright.
Thanks for the help, really appreciated. Once in the CWm menu the vol buttons dont do anything and the CAMERA button moves the highlight selector. the keyboard buttons seem to be working with some trial and error seems like a factory wipe has done the trick, now to put it all back in place. Will I need to re root?

That's... really weird. But most likely, you will need a re-root. Even if you don't, SuperOneClick won't do any harm if you're already rooted.

It sounds like you have the epic 4g clockworkmod installed, we fumbled around in that before we had our own recovery. I would make sure you have the right one before you go flashing and possibly soft brick yourself
I just checked and you should be on 3.0.2.8 recovery not 2. Whatever
Please follow the instructions to get the right one

Thanks for all the help really appreciated. The factory wip in my version of cwm worked and then i messed around with some animation through an app called Ani mod and have the same issue. Factory wipe not doing it this time. Anything that can be done?
now I cant even get into recovery. So bummed but I guess you live and learn. Is this phone screwed?
Check out the Odin threads in the dev forum.
As long as your phone boots up at all, you'll be fine.
Yup , ODIN then you should be fine .

Forgot my Pattern Password

Hello I accidentally put a pattern password while being half asleep. Well that doesn't matter but I want to remove it. I tried going into Clockwork Recovery v6.0.2.7. I get in to the menu and I use the volume rocker to go up or down. Also the menu/home button also goes up and down. The power button doesn't select neither does the search button. The back button doesn't do anything.
I am using LG Optimus T (p509) and using Cyanogen Mod 10.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096721
I have been trying to either figure out the password and trying to use Recovery.
Please and Thank you.
I would give this a shot:

Well the thing is I stupidly tried to use KPZ and put it back to normal but its always giving me Upgrade Error 500. If I pull of the battery and turn it out like normal it will go to the Tmobile Stick Together logo then reboot back into the Clockwork Recovery v6.0.2.7

Well the thing is that was the first thing I tried but I guess the volume rocker is to go through the menu. Also, the menu and home button also can be used to go through the menu. Only two buttons left is the search and the power button. Neither can be used to select/enter.

[Q] Advanced Power Menu?

Does anyone know if there's an Advanced Power Menu mod or app available yet for the N5/KitKat? What I mean is, hold down the Power Off button on screen, to go to an expanded menu with options for Restart Phone, Enter Recovery, Enter Bootloader, Enter Safe Mode.
I also want to get rid of the battery icon and have a percent circle, any ideas on this? I tried exposed, nothing worked.

Unlock and root were the first things I did with it, before even signing in to my google account.
