[Q] Advanced Power Menu? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know if there's an Advanced Power Menu mod or app available yet for the N5/KitKat? What I mean is, hold down the Power Off button on screen, to go to an expanded menu with options for Restart Phone, Enter Recovery, Enter Bootloader, Enter Safe Mode.

I also want to get rid of the battery icon and have a percent circle, any ideas on this? I tried exposed, nothing worked.

"quick boot" app should work, but you will need root

I'll look into the app.
Unlock and root were the first things I did with it, before even signing in to my google account.

[Q] Have to remove battery to get to HBOOT?

In order to get into HBOOT / recovery, you normally power on the device while holding volume down. This doesn't seem to work for me, rather the phone boots up (and *really* fast, its almost as if its not booting at all). To get at HBOOT, I need to open the back, remove the battery, and I hit the power button for good measure (not sure if that is needed), then it works....
Anyone else experiencing this, or know a way around it?
S-OFF, rooted, CWM Recovery 4.0.0.9
hit the menu button and go into settings > power > and uncheck "Fast Boot"
Then, power down your phone and wait about 10 seconds, hold the volume down button and repower it and it will boot right into H-Boot.

Yeah, even with fastboot disabled i get impatient and hate waiting the 10 seconds. I tend to pull the battery anyways to save myself the wait lol
Why did HTC have to go and give a function a name that is already used by another Android utility anyways ha ha

If you have root, you can try Quick Boot from Android Market. Let you reboot into recovery mode without holding down volume down button.
or "adb reboot bootloader"
true ha ha ha
Or go into settings.......power........uncheck fastboot.....then turn off phone. Wait 10 sec. Hold down volume key and power and bam your in hboot. Enjoy.

I find the Quick Boot app for rooted users to be quite handy for booting into recovery or bootloader and I keep a shortcut for it on my homescreen. I don't use it to power off or restart though. It's something to look into if you find holding volume and power at the same time to be awkward and inconvenient.

[Q] [Problem] NO restart using power menu - restart

Hello everybody,
first I wanna say THANK YOU to all people here - it's an awesome forum here !
My problem is the following:
I use ARHD 4.1.11 with EQS from blackdog7. When I want to restart my phone using the power menu -> restart it doesn't restart, it switches off. Does someone have a solution for this or can explain why this happens?
Best regards,
h0leripper
Have you tried quick boot app from market? It's free and you can restart and enter into bootloader and recovery as well.
I just use the 3 button combo to restart, hole both volume buttons and power..

Some roms don't. Some roms offer everything from restart to recovery. That's why I always use quick boot.

[Q] HELP!! Samsung Nexus S Crashed, Cant do anything

Hi
I have a Samsung Nexus S for past 5 months. I recently upgraded to the ICS. Last week, I was listening songs on my phone and all of a sudden out of nowhere the phone re-started.
After couple of minutes, saw a message on screen saying “encryption unsuccessful, you have lost all your data. This phone will now need to rebooted”.
Underneath this message, there was only 1 option of REBOOT NOW. I had to press the button since I had no other option.
After this the phone restarted but never went past the start up animation screen. After couple of days, I gave it another shot and after going past the welcome screen, it gave me the option to register the phone again. But as soon as that screen comes up, I get all these small messages saying, email has stopped, music has stopped, android process has stopped, calendar has stopped................ at this point the phone virtually hangs itself and I can’t do anything.
Can someone please advise what is wrong with my phone and how can I fix it?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Try this, power the phone off, now press and hold the volume up & power botton at the same time, a menu should appear, now use the volume up/down buttons till "RECOVERY" is highlighted green, now press the power button, the phone will now reboot and in to recovery and show an android on the screen, at this point you need to press and hold the power button then press volume up briefly, a menu should appear, use the volume up/down buttons to highlight "wipe data/factory reset" and press the power button, now use the volume up/down buttons to highlight "Yes -- delete all user data" once this is done select "reboot system now", this process will wipe the phone and put it back to factory settings, it won't delete usb storage though so you may need erase usb storage once you're up and running again.

I think that you have to push clockworkmod recovery image like when you root your device.

yeah, try using clockwork recovery.
that's much more usfeul than the stock one
i tried doing clockwork recovery, I cant unlock the bootloader, i did all the steps ie installed android drivers, went to command prompt, typed the command, I can see the option of unlocking bootloader on android but when I select yes, it still says locked. I guess I will have to give up on this phone.

My gs2 did that. I just clicked an option and when the text went away I pressed back and tried again. After a few tries, it enabled everything and I could use CWM.

You could just try reflashing the recovery

[Q] Factory reset a fake GS4mini (GT-I9190)

Im trying to factory reset a fake GS4mini labeled GT-I9190 under battery, which is locked because too many incorrect patterns.
Unable to sign-in to google account, because there is no Data Access point created.
Then I tried to factory reset the phone by accessing Android system recovery, which i could by pressing volume + and power key. But nothing happen when i click to 'wipe data/factory reset', instead it only show the warning sign page.

Which button did u use to select the option, whether the home button or the power button?
Try the alterate button for selecting (i.e. If u tried to select using power button then try home button or vice versa)

Thanks for your reply.
I have tried lots of combination to access Recovery mode and to select options from menu.
Nothing happen when pressing the power button, but when i press home button the screen shows only the warning sign, again i press the warning sign i can see the menu. I can navigate though the menu by pressing Volume + and -, but when i Select an option (by Home button, Power button does not work) only the warning sing shows.
Is there any other alternative method to reset the phone, like using odin or any other tool.

If u had enabled debugging option in the settings and have necessary drivers of ur device in the pc, try the following commands using the adb:
'adb reboot bootloader'
'fastboot devices'
(in the above command u'll have ur device in the list if everything is alright)
Atlast
'fastboot -w'
Hit thanks rather than typing it now Free
