I have no idea what I am doing wrong.
Unlocked bootloader. Went back to stock (ICS), rooted. Went to the FAQ to try to install CWM, downloaded boot.img, flashed, got into cwm, installed Doomsday rom(made sure to wipe everything), and my phone is stuck in bootlock(Sony Screen).
I got the v2 download link. Also I would like to go with the Vengence Kernal but no clue when to install that.
Its JB
Doomsday is jb based. so you should first flash 11.2.A.0.31 ftf.

I can't get JB installed.
Everytime I install the ROM, the phone just keeps rebooting into CWM.
Here are the steps I took (which worked last week?!?):
So I Odin'd 2.3.6.
Flashed red recovery.
Then flashed an ICS CM9 ROM in CWM 5.0.4.
Then flashed Carbon 4.2.2 JB ROM and it rebooted the phone and upgraded to CWM 6.X.X.
Then I flashed the JB ROM again.
But the phone keeps rebooting into CWM over and over. It never boots into the ROM.
And even though the JB ROM install appears to work and complete successfully, it never actually installs any files on the phone.
I tried the same thing with 4.2.2 SlimBean and had the same results.
ps. this is the JB ROM flash guide I used:

So if I understand this correctly you have flashed a new ROM but you are stuck on the boot screen.
This can happen due to a few things; the first and most obvious to me is that you didn't flash the correct version of the ROM. Please link me to the ROM you used and I can tell you if you did or not.
The second is that you aren't running the correct kernel, if the JB Mini Project runs on the CM10 kernel and you haven't flashed that first it won't work.
The third is that you didn't wipe all of the partitions (it seems as though you haven't) you need to wipe System, Dalvik Cache, Cache, then User Data.
If you want to restore to stock firmware download this program (http://androxyde.github.io/) and then download the .ftf file from one of the links in the link I will provide (http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=fU3SBnQr).
When you have got both of them things PM me and I will help you.

Hi, i also experienced this before. I just flash it using Flashtool [androxyde.github.io] and now my phone is coming back like usual. First, download your Stock Firmware, and flash it. CMIIW

I know the exact problem now. The ROM is based on CM10. You haven't flashed the CM10 kernel onto the phone before you flashed the ROM. I'll PM you know so you can reply if you need any help.

Well, my question is so simple... how can I go back to ICS without using flashtool?
Can I just flash vengeance kernel and flash for example Gimlo or ZNXT rom?
Thanks

New Question: Phone doesn't boot with Vengeance: I tried to flash vengeance and install Znxt v6, CWM/TWRP couldn't flash it and I read that issue on other thread so I flashed stock kernel and flashed it and it works fine, then I flashed Vengeance again (tried with v1.40, v1.43, v1.45) and on first boot while bootanimation it flashes white splash screens and then reboots and I get bootloop (stuck on Sony Logo). I came back to CM10 until someone can give me some advice.
Thanks.
yes you can do that.
Don't you have to use flashtool to flash a kernel?
Nope @Chainfire's work Odin makes it possible for you to flash kernels
bump, new question.
Vengeance isn't compatible with znxt rom.
The items that are not compatible are the updated adreno libs. Download the zip from this thread and delete the files the downloaded zip stores in the znxt zip.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2352724
Remove CWM recovery from the znxt zip (recovery.tar) since Vengeance already has dual recovery.
Those are the compatibility issues I know about, try what i said if you really want znxt rom on your device.
How to use this kernal and which rom is compatible on,this kernel...plz guide me bros......
Sent from my Xperia Tipo
Hello everyone. Please don't ignore the question just looking at the length. I think many newbies have these kinds of doubts. I have tried to explain as best and simple as I can.
I've recently got a Tipo Dual (st21i2). It had a Stock ROM installed in it. I wanted to remove it so I did following things in given order.
1. Rooted the phone with Bin4ry's Rootkit
2. Installed custom recovery CWM.
3. Took backup of original ROM
Then I wanted to install a new one ROM & Kernel, so next
4. Using CWM, installed Gimlo firmware & Gimlo ROM 2.0 as explained here. The new ROM was working properly.
5. I took a backup of this newly installed ROM, using CWM.
Then I wanted to install Vengeance Kernel from here. So I tried to install it by using Flashtool 0.9.14.0. Flashtool gave me an error "The phone must be rooted first". At that point I had already rooted my phone.
By doing a little Googling I found out that I had to unlock my bootloader to install custom kernel (I had a misconception that installing custom recovery unlocks the bootloader also).
6. So I successfully unlocked the bootloader using same Flashtool and unlock code from Sony's website. Then,
7. I installed the Vengeance Kernel (again using Flashtool). It installed successfully as per the log. And it installed TWRP recovery with it.
Then after restarting I have got a bootloop. It is stuck at boot animation (custom Xperia Z boot animation). Tried to remove battery and starting it after a while, tried keeping it off for a night, didn't work.
At this point I have the
a) Backup of old ROM
b) Able to load TWRP recovery.
So I'm in a safe place and I can restore my phone.
But still I want to use Vengeance Kernel with Gimlo.
So my questions are
1. Am I doing anything wrong?
2. I read while researching that the correct order of installation is Custom ROM --> Custom Kernel. Is it correct? If not then what should be the correct order?
3. I also read somewhere that after installing ROM --> Kernel, I have to flash the ROM again. Is it true?
4. Is there any better ROM-Kernel combination than the one I am using?
5. Can I solve the bootloop without having to Restore/Install again? (Maybe by wiping caches or any other option in recovery, I don't know what those functions actually do so I didn't try anything).
1. Are you sure Vengeance supports Gimlo?
2. If so, follow this procedure.
1. Make a backup of all your apps
2. Flash a stock ftf, the one Gimlo is based one(make sure you wipe data and cache in Flashtool)
2. Place Gimlo on your SD card.
3. Flash the Vengeance kernel.
4. Boot into recovery and flash the ROM. Follow the required installation procedure provided in the Gimlo thread.
5. Power off the phone an flash Vengeance again.
6. Boot into your system.
If you are sure Vengeance is based on stock and on the sane firmware a Gimlo, this procedure should do the trick.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for reply.
On Gimlo's thread
"it also supports both custom and stock kernels"
On Vengeance's thread
"Kernel is compatible with all stock JB/ICS based ROM's"
Sorry if this is a stupid question.
Why I have to install stock tft --> Vengeance kernel first then again flash the Gimlo ROM --> Vengeance kernel?
Isn't it same as making a fresh install (of Gimlo over stock)? If it is, then what is the use of installing Stock tft first?

To be completely fresh. That's it.
If flashing the Vengeance kernel doesn't work while you are on Gimlo, this is your only option.
It may take a while, but when it's done, you finally have Vengeance
