I can't get JB installed.
Everytime I install the ROM, the phone just keeps rebooting into CWM.
Here are the steps I took (which worked last week?!?):
So I Odin'd 2.3.6.
Flashed red recovery.
Then flashed an ICS CM9 ROM in CWM 5.0.4.
Then flashed Carbon 4.2.2 JB ROM and it rebooted the phone and upgraded to CWM 6.X.X.
Then I flashed the JB ROM again.
But the phone keeps rebooting into CWM over and over. It never boots into the ROM.
And even though the JB ROM install appears to work and complete successfully, it never actually installs any files on the phone.
I tried the same thing with 4.2.2 SlimBean and had the same results.
ps. this is the JB ROM flash guide I used:

New to xda, so I'll just let you in everything in the last 2 hours. I flashed Bugless Beast (2002-06-09), wiping cache and dalvik cache and it ran fine. Then I installed the Matr1x bfs v22.5 from bootloader and rebooted once more. After that, it stayed on the Google screen until I removed the battery. So far the only possible solution that I've looked into is this thread called [HOW TO] Return to Stock Using Odin (VZW and GSM) -- you can google the link to see what I'm talking about. I can't seem to get the process to succeed. The attempts always end up as successful: 0 failed: 0 I tried using both the VZW from the first link given and the GSM: CF_ODIN_YAKJU_IMM76D_full for the PDA button on Odin. Nothing comes up on Odin when I mount the phone to the PC so I'm not sure if I'm even connecting, although I was able to connect the phone to the PC early today to transfer files. Could I be using incorrect files to start Odin? Am I connecting to Odin? Are there any other possibilities besides using Odin to return this phone to normal?
I was running early versions of Bugless Beast and Matr1x before flashing the new versions. Please, I need to get this phone fixed before this weekend. Thanks, in advance.

you flash jelly bean kernel on ICS rom !(v.22.5 and higher are Jelly Bean, v.22.0 and lower are ICS)
you can boot on recovery ?
like leap said you flashed a JB kernel on a ICS ROM. Just download Matr1x v20 and flash it from the CWM recovery, it should boot right away. If not just go in CWM wipe factory reset and reflash Bugless Beast, or any other ROM, and the proper kernel (Matrix v20 for ICS, 20.5 for JB). Don't mess with Odin if you don't have experience or flash a wrong ROM stock into your Nexus, unless you want a nice paperweight.
Thanks

Wow, thanks! I run v. 22.0 and it works fine now.. I feel embarrassed of how simple it is to fix it.
Thanks

Thanks for the instructions! You saved me like a whole day of trying to fix this phone.
I finally fixed my old issue... (softbrick stuck at boot logo without access to fastboot)
now i have a new one.
Im using TWRP recovery right now, and it seems the only ROM i can install right now is Clean ROM.
I have tried Blackbean, CM10 nightly, and HYDRO.
None boot up.
Is there something that is unique to CleanROM that would let me install it and not others?

You are on JB, so the only Roms you can flash are [email protected], Clean and Hydro JB. Thats it. All other Roms are only flashable with ICS bootloader and you are not able to get back from JB:
Well yesterday i have rooted my nexus s and i have the kernel Air_Kernel_Stable_r1_JBN_BlueColor on jelly Bean 4.1.2 (OTA).Today i tried to put a rom but after downloading a rom my nexus can not start. It goes only in fastboot MODE.If i try ti start it,it stands a black screen after loading the GOOGLE (symbol).Sorry for my english. Can anyone help me?
well... you need to try someother rom.. again. something not working right,
like yesterday I tried to put Baked_blackbean-5 on my crespo (9020a) and it didnt work
then I tried Slim 2.7 but I think I like CM10 nightly more.
Can you send me a rom to put on my nexus? i have not CWM..!
for ROM you asked download CM10 from this ... Download: cm-10-20121020-NIGHTLY-crespo.zip
md5sum: 9bbbfdf49af6624fdc3ee983ca58e1e0 http://get.cm/get/4mC
To put CM10 you need CMW Recovery. you cannot do it with stock recovery.
so ... put your phone into fastboot, and using the guide put ClockworkMod Recovery image
If you dont have CWM then what you have? Stock Recovery? or anyother?
How were you flashing that ROM yesterday?
Regards
I've crawled through the development. I've flashed a ROM before, but went back to a rooted stock version because of the bugs in the builds I was using. But now, basically any time I flash something new, it bricks at the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 screen.
I've done:
Flashed back to non-root stock firmware (newer)
Then flashed the CF Autoroot, installed Mobile Odin, flashed CWM official 6.0.2.3 for the 3113. When I install CM9, brick.
PA doesn't brick immediately but sticks at the splash with the shark.
So, I flashed back to non-root stock, CF Autoroot, installed CWM 6.0.1.1 and tried again. All ROMS besides PA hang at boot screen (like before), PA hanging at the shark.
I figured it was a kernel issue? So, I've tried both Dhollmen and AGNI. No change.
I can get it to rooted stock JB, but I don't *want* that, I want something that isn't so freaking bloated and buggy.
Ideas?
*edit*
So, after installing TWRP 2.5 on top of stock, I downloaded Rom Manager, installed CWM and CM9 through that. Got past the initial boot screen, but seem to be stuck on CM Splash. Would flashing older stock image and trying from there help?
This might seem like a dumb question since you say you have flashed ROMs before: are you doing a "clean" install? I also will wipe cache and dalvic cache AFTER each install. I only have "bricked" a device one time and that is when I tried short cuts. I also ALWAYS follow the developers instructions to the letter.

Hello! I was looking for some help with flashing ROMs. I have had my A700 flashed with other ROMs before like CM and IconiaN, but for some reason, now it will only boot the stock ROM. I had CM11 on it and decided to go back to IconiaN. Well, it wouldn't boot. To try and fix this, I went back to full stock ICS with a locked bootloader and stock recovery and started from scratch. I've tried about 4 or 5 times, unlcking the bootloader and flashing CWM, but every time I try to flash anything other than an official update.zip in CWM, it just hangs at the splash screen with the animated Acer logo. I did have TWRP for awhile too, but I had CWM originally and I have it now. Thanks!

Hey guys! Nevermind! I went back to stock again and tried another ROM first before I tried IconiaN, and it booted! So I guess it was just the .zip of IconiaN I have. Weird too because I re-downloaded the .zip. Anyway, I'm good now!
