KIKIN For NON Vodafone (root only) - One (M8) Themes and Apps

Ok ...so ive been doing some digging in my unbranded m8 stock rom, ive noticed the actual rom comes with the lib.kikin file and the support enable options in the default.xml, I wanted the kikin search app after I changed my rom from Vodafone to unbranded Europe. I will link the website telling you all about this amazing feature and will link the files needed
http://www.kikin.com/products_android
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ohn1bb1yf1xwwf9/AAAnyWXI_VJH12N4u874unVLa
Ok ...so whether your odexed or not odexed these files install normally from what ive tested, move them to private app, then go to default.xml and edit the 2 kikin options, change from false to true, they look like ....."Boolean" name="isKikinEnable">false and "Boolean" name="support_kikin"false, you need to change them to true, scroll down the xml to just above half way and look for thosr 2 lines, after the changes reboot, should have a k icon, if not don't worry ,just open the app and enable, try it out in default browser, oh and untick use default browser. the apk's will install normally without the odex, seems htc as took a more traditional odexing method, anyway, you can install them but it will not work until the default.xml as been edited hence you need root.

Done, not working=( inside kikin program = perfect, but in browser no go
moved to system/priv-app/
set permissions rw-r--r--
still no go...tried simply installing = works only on a template inside kikin app. In browser = not working

have you checked for lib.kikin in system/lib, also, did you edit the default.xml ?, or the one that matches your cid?, sometimes the rom uses your cid instead of default, if the lib is missing add it, ive added the lib to the link. It works perfectly fine on mine, HTC__001 version rom. Also it may not work with chrome as htc's browser is the default that its designed around, stupid I know ...as theres a desktop version for chrome, being as though it was exclusive to Vodafone im guessing it would be vodafones browser and htc's internet.UPDATE: its based entirely around htc apps, message/mail/internet and any other supported app.

Done everything, icon dissapers after reboot....

Works fine here

That's ok ...having the icon appear just tells you its set up ok, as long as its working after a reboot its fine.

The icon needs to be in app drawer...for me it's in app drawer and works perfectly fine...set both lines in default.xml to true and both apk are in priv-app with the right permissions

The K icon actually only supposed to appear at initial setup, like after a hard reset of the phone, wiping user data, then the icon will show for first time to tell you your phone as got kikin support and to click to enable in app draw, should then disappear but kept alive by system, click the icon and it should go but still have full support in supported apps.

Ive just realized that the HTC LTE widget is missing from the 154.401.10 software. Lucky my dad as got the Vodafone rom still so I pulled the widget lol.

This app is no longer valid, on my phone (unbranded m8 2.22.401.5) htc pushed a notification and a disable command when I tried to use kikin, saying that the app is no longer supported for my device. It as something to do with google and the webview, and will just end up incompatable in future updates.
http://www.kikin.com/blog/2014/08/vodafone-device-update/

Just thought id let everyone know that the latest ota comes with the kikin app preinstalled, just need to enable in the default.xml, its back up and running again.

Yours is the real Orange plugin. The other one is Photoshopped. It's just an example.
There is only one option button found on the Camera ICON.
It allows you to switch between Normal or Expert Mode.
You can only change 4 shortcuts under EXPERT mode.
The interface is pretty nice, but too bad, cant launch below bug.
Bug found IN NORMAL MODE:
1. Under the camera tab,
Click TAKE A PICTURE.
The file 'camera' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore this file.
Bug found In EXPERT MODE:
1. Under the folder tab,
Click Speed Dial
(The file 'TSPEEDIAL' cannot be openen. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore this file.
2.
Addon Bug
Probably a Third Bug
If you remove the plugin, Camera Button no longer recognzed by hardware. cant set anything to it. although camer works fine.
i quite like the interface. too bad, the apps not delicate for O2, missing a lot of functions, therefore, i not using it.
Moreover, i try to read the registry, cant find anything.
lol

[App] [Root] LCDDensity (safe)

Here video from app I'm developing:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxD65fDYSGw
Idea is simple - change LCD density without modifying build.prop and almost on the fly.
Application will change LCD density in system, changes will not survive reboot (so if you have wrong settings, pull out battery or restart device and you are back to old settings). For now best way to change density is to reload Android software stack (it will seems like crash but it's intended to be this way).
Now available from Play

Looks Very Nice Going to test it out on my Rooted Cliq (2.1) Tell you how it goes
Edit: It works fine on my phone w/o issues detected
Sweet! Downloading and trying ASAP!
From what I've seen on video, you're not having so called "Compatibility mode" to resize apps to new density, am I right? It would be a sweet feature.
So, I see there is rival to "LCD Density Changer" :}.
It was quick and dirty test Released test version auto scale should work.
About "LCD Density Changer" - both programs differ in a way how changes are preserved. My program does not write anything on /system, so it's better for those who wants "high res" effect to be available quickly but not all the time (or those who use "LCD Density Changer" and wants to play some games that's not compatible with high resolutions ). "LCD Density Changer" saves edits to /system partition - for long term use.
I know I know, but you must admit - effect is pretty the same . It is not definitive in one case, which has its pros and cons.
Regardless how cool idea is, I have a problem with app - I installed it, opened it, choosed one option and... nothing. Tried it on 1.6 (official Donut for my country, rooted + busybox) and for Froyo (CM6), same issue .
Please try with newest package.
Honestly, no need for it now . App had some hard times asking for superuser permission, but when it did, everything just works! Great app. Still some features like returning to default density and compatibility mode are good to have .
Thanks a bunch, great piece of code!
Very interesting app!..andyes, return to default would be very nice.

I'm not using j_r0dd's rom in fact im using [Rom] adlxmod 2.0.2 - Android 2.1 with Motoblur. I should of been rather specific, if you need further proof I can use a screenshot of one.
The problem is that it doesn't use busybox. It relies on built-in unix commands. Busybox implementation will fix it.
Implemented this in my app as "preview". Happy to see a competitor

Which setting did You tried?
i tried 120, and then the phone rebooted and continuously rebooted for a while until i remove the battery.
work on motorola cliq. thx mate.
Tried on Nexus One.
120 rebooted but didn't do anything.
Tried 180, 200, 220 which all worked, but everything looks too weird for me. Didn't like it. Went to 240 which seems like back to default.
works nice setted now on 120 on my htc hero
Total fail on my Vibrant. Selected 200 (the recommended setting for Galaxy S/Vibrant), and the screen simply went blank, phone froze completely requiring battery pull.
At least it didn't change anything permanently, so I guess it's safe. But it doesn't work.
Lots of good reports from the T-Mobile Pulse community, works perfectly!

[Q] Does root allow APN changes?

To anyone who's rooted their Moto G : Are you able to edit or add profiles to your APN settings after doing so? When I attempt to add another profile I'm brought back to the previous screen without any changes being made. The default (Telus') APN's are greyed out and unchangeable.
I'm intending to give this device to someone over the holidays, and I'm looking to alter the APN settings to only allow MMS traffic through. I'd like to know if it's possible before sacrificing the warranty.
If it does let you alter it, would you kindly please tell me the method you've used?

I had this problem when trying to set up Orange UK's APN information (EE). It wouldn't save with all the information, just deleted the existing one and entered the name and APN fields and it saved. It then did everything else itself.
Hope it helps.
I have rooted and installed Auto Hide Soft Keys and that gives me a menu option on the Navigation Bar: Delete APN, Save, Discard.
Without rooting, you could try installing a different launcher and see if that will give you the menu option.
Thanks for the replies!
I ended up rooting the phone using paulobrien's 1st method without difficulty. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2553467)
The APN settings were still unchangeable unfortunately. I also couldn't find any option to delete the APNs in Auto Hide Soft Keys, although now that I think about it I didn't try any gestures while actually viewing the actual APN's settings.
I was able to install Ritesh Sahu's APN Backup & Restore, and followed the instructions on the PlayStore page of the app for 4.0+ devices (Converting the file to a system app). After doing this, I was able to delete the APN settings from that app, then suddenly I was able to add my own custom APN within the regular menu.
Hopefully this helps someone in the future!
Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. Here are some pictures to demonstrate what I meant.

2 install apnmanager
3 install and run apps2rom and change apnmanager to system app

5 add my own apn

[Q] How to open "App permissions" on Android 4.2.2?

Hi,
today I saw in notifications "App permissions" and opened it, it allows me to manage permissions of installed apps. This should be a native feature as far as I know, the device runs 4.2.2 and is not rooted and the only managing app I have there is 3C toolbox but even that doesn't seem to have app permissions on it's own.
I think I saw this when I first got the phone as well, I had reset it last week and it notified me about this "App permissions" today.
I like it and would like to know how can I open this settings page? Via menu, or secret code or how can I get there again once I close it?
When I opened it from notifications it was turned off. I have turned it on, now when I try to turn it off it says:
"Apps will directly get permissions without your confirmation."
And I get asked when apps try to access something and seems like I am able to limit apps individually and their individual permissions and also manage them on this "Apps permissions" page.
I have not been able to find it in settings, manage apps nor Engineering mode, where is it hiding? How can I open it?
It looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

Thanks.
Come on, someone has to have Android 4.2 and the knowledge here folks! Where is this "App permissions" hiding, where can it be opened?
It wasn't an option in 4.2
There are some app permissions editor apps you can download.
Before install app maximum app display and 3rd party permission app is another good option.

False, it is available in 4.2.
They changed it afterwards with 4.4 there you can get the opp apps or what it is to get the feature back. It's hidden in 4.2 though, hence I don't know how to get to it once I close it but it is obviously there. You can see the screenshots hey?

I don't know how you could get to it if it is part of your settings somewhere .
You can search "app ops" for some apps to get you to the hidden menu.
The app , Advanced Permissions Manager can remove permissions and reinstall app without them. Lucky Patcher can remove some app components and permissions then reinstall and some more. Xprivacy is an xposed module can restrict anything of an app.
To keep an app from being able to connect on data, wifi, you could use a firewall app. Xposed has a module for that it's called, LightningWall
App ops is a thing introduced in 4.3/4.4, so not to be confused with this older "App permissions" manager that is hidden in 4.2.

Does that mean the apps ops wouldn't work ?
AppOps
and similar applications give a message that says: "This app is incompatible with your device."
Which is obvious since these are meant for 4.3 and 4.4. Versions prior to these are different when it comes to permission management. And 4.2 has no appops.
Did you find something that will work for you ?
No, no one seems to know how to open this built in "App permissions" manager that I have in 4.2.2 and could one time open from the notifications.
Sure there are 3rd party apps and options to root and so on but why when there are features in the OS already.
Hi,
Well i have read it on the web - it seems that Android version 4.2.2 removed the "Permission Manager".
I'm in the same situation till i migrated my smartphone OS from Android 4.2 to 4.2.2 - thats' really enoying.
I suppose i'll flash the ROM to recover Android version 4.2 (i mean the official factory Android version of my smartphone) or something.....
Cheers.
root device and install 3rd party app for app permission

Simple, no Xposed, KK/Lollipop, Torch Lockscreen mod.

This is a very simple mod to enable the Volume-Up Torch feature on the Lockscreen in KK and Lollipop TW ROM, yes including OA8.
A note about the usage of the Flashlight. The mod stay enabled for 30 seconds after the screen goes dark, ie. you have 30 sec to press vol up to get your Flashlight On once the screen is dark.
You just need Root and a SQL editor.
Settings Storage -> settings.db -> system
add two entries:
torchlight_enable = 1
torchlight_timeout = 30000
Reboot

It is not a file, it is a database, you'll need SQLlite or any other SQL editor.
You then select Settings Storage
Then select settings.db
Then select system
Then you click the little + sign
Then you add both entries, as shown by the pictures
Thank you for that break down of steps, it slipped my mind, rarely used sql

Ok, I made the necessary changes to the database using SQLite, but I still can't turn on the torchlight using the volume key. Am I missing something here? Also, you're picture isn't showing. Could you re-upload to see if I goofed the db changes?

it's not a perfect solution sometimes you have to "wake up" the up volume button by lighting up your screen with the power button briefly, hit the power button again to shut screen off then try the volume up button, torch should work then. sounds like its a hassle but its just three quick button clicks.
Well it's not sticking, the lines are being removed, how, I have no idea what would be writing over the file?

Make sure you are in r/w mode and not r/o if your using Root Explorer. if your using ES Filemanager make sure you granted root access and have it enabled in settings.
It would have warned me about not having root privileges, and I'm set to always grant... Funny thing is, it now sticks, so that's weird.
Only thing I was missing from xposed was my flashlight.. This will definitely hold me over till they get that fixed..
Can someone explain how to do this on lollipop? I updated the database located in the directions in the link below but it doesn't stick. I go back in after a reboot and they new lines are gone.
http://pocketnow.com/2015/01/01/nexus-6-tethering
edit - I copied the database out of that area, made the edit, pasted it back and it sticks now. It still doesn't work. I see another database entry for torch_light = 0. Is that overriding the new entries?
I can´t find Settings Storage with aSQLliteManager. Where is it? on the SD card or on the system drive?
