[Q] is there a way - AT&T LG G3

I need to reinstall the com.android.accessibility settings back on my phone. Does anyone know if there is a way to reinstall a file like that if it has been deleted? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How did you lose it? Do you have the file? If so, did you do a backup in TB or in another manner that you re-install it?

I was removing bloat and exporting files and accidentally deleted as opposed to exporting. I've been checking in root explorer to see if I can find it anywhere, but no luck. My brother picked up the same phone today, so I'll have access to the file, but is there a way to reinstall it that you know of? Thank you

Did you do a Titanium Back-up (TB) by any chance? If so, you can restore it from there. If you don't have TB I would highly recommend it as it has saved my ass on occasion.
If you don't have a TB of it you might be able to use root explorer and put the file in the proper folder location and then set the permissions correctly. Otherwise you may have to "push" it with ADB.

I have TB, but didn't back up at that time. Is there a way to put it in the folder if I can't even find it on the system folders in root explorer, or well I need to try and do a return to stock, which seems more challenging the lg.

If you get the file from your bro, you can then move it to the correct location and set the permissions. Get the location from him. If it were me, I would just go back to stock. It really isn't that hard. I've done it on all the phones whether it's Samsung, LG, HTC, Sony, etc... That's just me though. LOL

Thank you both for your help. I was able to finally do a reset and go back to stock. So I started from scratch, this time with a backup. Thank you.

Now that I rooted...

I rooted my phone using SuperoneClick for mac/linux, and it was very simple. It said my phone was rebooting and that my phone was rooted.
Now what do I do? What can I do with rooting? I don't see any difference on the mainscreen. What I did was went to look at my applications and realized I have "SuperUser" now.
When I click that, I have LOG, Apps, and settings, the only thing listed is settings. How can I remove certain bloatware that I don't need?
Get titanium backup so you can uninstall bloatware- if you pay $6 you can freeze the bloatware instead of removing it completely.
A program like Root Explorer can help you get rid of the bloatware as well. Just navigate to System/APP and delete what you don't want. Just be carefull not to delete the wrong software, I think there is a list in one of the threads here of what is safe to get rid of.
Yeah, just get an App manager that uses root access (I use Anttek App Manager). You can either freeze such apps or delete them entirely. You can also change CPU speed, and eventually upgrade to CM7 when it's released, and quite a few other things!
Before doing anything though, I'd recommend backup up your phone with Rom Manager.
Okay, so your steps should be this....
First download ROM manager to back up my system?
Then I download app manager so I can freeze/delete? Freezing might be safer for a newb like me.
that is what I did
I backed up the phone using ROM manager, but where can I find where that backup is to make sure I did it successfuly?
If you are thinking about getting into some serious tinkering, custom ROMs, Kernels, etc. You will probably want to use the NVFlash method to load in clockwork recovery. This method and a good backup of your system should help bail you out of the most circumstances.
Yes, but I'm not sure where to find the backup? I want to make sure the backup was successful. Please someone help
Backups will be found in the clockworkmod/backups folder. Check there to make sure u are doing it right and have a backup.
What can you do with root? As a beginner I would recommend you go slow:
1- Install interesting apps that require root: http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/07/13/8-great-apps-every-rooted-android-user-should-know-about/
2- Learn how to make and restore nandroid backups w/ Clockworkmod Recovery.
3- Freeze bloatware with Titanium Backup Pro.
4- Eventually get to flashing custom ROMs once we get some !
Backup should be on your external sd card in a folder called clockworkmod/backup

I backed it up, went to clockworkmod and my backup, but it doesn't say anything when I click it, neither does it show up in the manage and restore backup
bump, anyone?
try again?

why would you do this to your phone and have no idea what it does or how to take advantage of it?
that's like hotflashing a bios just because it sounds cool.
I'm new to it and want to freeze bloatware? And plus, I can google on how to do stuff and "take advantage" of it =) Thanks
And I just made a back-up and that one is not showing up, gave it a name and everything, would the best thing to do is to uninstall rom manager and install it?

that sound like an easy way to get in over your head
rofl, i still can't get even make a backup, i tried making the back-up twice, and it's showing me the first one, but when I go to manage/restore, it doesn't come up
Do u have an sdcard mounted? If not u need one.

how to Delete DICE App permanately

i have a htc sensation 4g, tmo phone. I am trying to delete this app called DICE and i cant find a way on how to permanently delete it, i dont even use it at all...
CAN SOME ONE PLEASE HELP ME....
by the way, the phone is rooted...
Use an explorer like root explorer and go into system\apps. You will find the apps there. Simply delete the apk file and it is gone for good! I am like you. When I flash a rom I delete all the apps I dont need. So far using stock rom 1.50 rooted, I have had it on now for about 36 odd hours and still sitting at 50% battery. Oh the other place you can delete downloaded apps from is \data\apps.

Titanium Backup allows you to delete system apps. I believe you have to enable an option called "Chuck Norris mode" inside it to be able to, though.
Nah you can just click the app in TB and his Delete. Itll ask if you're sure and then it destroys it, regardless of mode.
TB pro lets you freeze apps though, removing them without actually removing them.

how to ROOT Huawei mytouch 4G 2.3.6

I've searched several forums on multiple sites trying to figure out how to root my gf's Huawei mytouch 4G. Any suggestions or ideas?
I'd like to know as well
You can root it here

Cool! Good job!! Can't wait for my wife to get home so I can try it on her phone (she'll kill me if I brick it though!)
edit: Actually I'm kinda scared to try this. Looking at the .bat file though all it does is appear to fastboot off an image, it doesn't push any files on until the root is complete. Is this correct? Meaning if for some reason the initial boot/root attempt fails, I should be able to recover?

It doesn't actually flash the image permantently, simply boots off of it once. Once you reboot its gone off the device.

I did it, it worked like a charm. You are my HERO!
Edit: Now the work of removing bloat. I hope I don't remove the wrong thing and end up unable to boot. I'm afraid to remove some of these builtin TmobileMall and TmobileContacts type things. Some stuff like Slacker I had to rm by hand, Titanium backup couldn't do it -- it was installed in /data/app and /data/data but was a system app. Titanium backup could back it up but when I try to uninstall it couldn't find the apk. System app not located in /system. Wierd eh? Anywayz I'm afraid I'll blow away the wrong thing and won't be able to boot so I'm being cautious....

When you install an update to one of these apps lets use the, yahoo mail on for example, it will show in the /system/app or /data/app. The problem is the apk before the update is in /cust/t-mobile/us/app which is read only and unable to be mounted as R/W and that is why Titanium backup is unable to uninstall it.
I have tried moving it and deleting it manually with no luck. I have not tried through ADB yet but may give that a try next.

Backing up before reverting and updating to ICS

Before I odin my phone back to stock so I can update to ICS, I want to know if there is anyway to back up contacts, sms, call history, etc. before doing this. I use tibackup when I am flashing ROMS, but I don't know if I will be able to access these backups? And tibackup will not work without root, so I won't be able to use it anyways.
Sorry for the noobish nature, but is there any way to back up apps and system data before I odin back to stock?

back em up with titanium, a root solution is available. just make sure to copy the entire titaniumbackup folder to windows/linux/osx, flash the os, install titanium again, and copy everything from the old titanium folder to the new to restore

i use 'backup to gmail' for my sms and mms, it puts all your messages in your gmail in folders and will restore call log and sms, dont support restore of mms yet... i paid fo it and there is a free version too, i think it limits the number of back-up messages tho...

Is there an easy way to backup app save data?

Hello everyone!
I am wondering if there is anyway to save an apps data if you wanted to install another rom? I love taking different roms out for a spin, but having to restart a game over and over as a result can be frustrating.

you can store them on pc, but for me, there are some files inside the backup that wont copy. i dont know if this is common, but i thought i should mention it. although, even with whatever wouldnt copy, i have never had an issue restoring the apps or data.
even if you move the backup to pc, you have to move it back to the phone to use it.
there is also a cloud option to save the backups to drive and other places.
its is fairly easy to restore, there is a batch option menu, where you just select the ones you want and click start, but if you dont get the paid version, it will only let you do one at a time, which sux lol
