Is there an easy way to backup app save data? - General Questions and Answers

Hello everyone!
I am wondering if there is anyway to save an apps data if you wanted to install another rom? I love taking different roms out for a spin, but having to restart a game over and over as a result can be frustrating.

you can store them on pc, but for me, there are some files inside the backup that wont copy. i dont know if this is common, but i thought i should mention it. although, even with whatever wouldnt copy, i have never had an issue restoring the apps or data.
even if you move the backup to pc, you have to move it back to the phone to use it.
there is also a cloud option to save the backups to drive and other places.
its is fairly easy to restore, there is a batch option menu, where you just select the ones you want and click start, but if you dont get the paid version, it will only let you do one at a time, which sux lol

[Q] Insufficient Storage Available?

Exactly as the title says. What gives?
I have free space. Over 300mb
I cleared dalvik cache but didn't work, reboot as well. Anything else I can do?
Lol, I was messing around with titanium backup and now I can't install it no matter what I do.
I'm not sure but I seem to get that with like 100mb free storage on the stock rom. As well as it saying my visual voicemail box is full which I can't even have since I'm on a prepaid plan. Usually I have to uninstall an app just to download an app that is a few hundred KB even though I have way more than enough room... although in your case TB might've caused some issues... Someone else can probably help out more than me though...

This only happened because I had uninstalled and reinstalled TB from the market a few times. I was testing something out. Was going to get TB back onto my phone and be done, but it won't install anymore. Even after I removed a few apps. I have over 400mb free now.

but if I need TB to backup certain apps before I reflash???
out of all the apps I could be having problems with
I tried clearing market data and cache as well. Still no luck. I'm starting to get really scared here. There's a lot of things I need to backup
Even if I sideload the app from my sd card, it still tells me I don't have enough space
I just uninstalled and reinstalled Mahjong Artifacts from the amazon app store a 40mb game WTF???
And TB still gives me an insufficient storage error
so it's only TB? If that's the case then use a different app to backup or even just make a nandroid backup wipe and reflash then use appextractor from the play store to pull apps from the nandroid...

Yes, its only TB. Lol that app didn't work. It would scan a nandroid and then the scan would finish. It wouldn't give me any indication of what apps it found or if there was any I could install. I was trying to find TB through one of my old backups, but it was a no go
Well es file explorer can backup any apps. You need root enabled I'm pretty sure as well, but you can do menu> manager> app manager> select (for multi select), then just select all the apps you want to back up and select backup.
File expert will backup apps, as well as things like androzip, etc...etc...
Or you could go in by hand and pull them individually with Root Explorer. Root Explorer is without equal the go to app to explore, manage and fix things on your device and well worth paying for.
Also, maybe cruise through these links about some of your backup concerns:
- Preparing for backup
- Backup Guide
...and don't forget to back up your sdcard to a computer, maybe your problem is similar to something like what was found here?
Official CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7 ...and once you finish backing up your sdcard to the computer you should format it after working through this issue and before flashing a new ROM.
Probably something silly like leftover files in /sdcard/android/data or something similar...
...i'm just getting off and crashing now, and meant to a while ago, so if I think of something sometime else not on the edge of sleep i'll post it. Good luck.
Edit real quick:
...and the clockworkmod backup is always a good grab:

...instead of using an app to try to fight with the backup image on the phone, use a real computer and the unyaffs tools to open it. You can get whatever you want.
Thanks for the help guys. I'm guessing there was a problem with TB and it wasn't going to have any help getting started again.
Bit the bullet and rebooted into Virtuous Inquisition. Amazing rom with great battery life. You should try it out for anyone who wants AOSPish. Gets better battery than it's Sense cousin Primadonna.
All apps are working again. I will work on getting some of my apps back from my old nandroid when I have time.

This worked for me couple weeks ago.
It's tied into autoupdate for the app. Turn it off in the Google Play Store.

[Q] Titanium Backup question

Greetings all!! I came here from the T-mobile Galaxy S2 forums. I have a question I am needing help with. I have searched all over with no luck.
So I have TB pro, and I used it to make a update.zip of some user apps and data from my S2. Mostly just some games and oddball apps. Absolutely no system apps or anything like that. My question is can I flash that update zip to my new Oneplus one. Yes i have a custom recovery and I am rooted. Thanks in advance!!
As long as there's no system data it should be ok. But, I've seen at least one person have issues after flashing an update zip like that. It might be better just to restore your apps the normal way (through Titanium itself).
Transmitted via Bacon
Ok. Thanks for the heads up on that. Can you explain what is the normal way to get app data from one phone to another using TB pro? I am kinda confused on doing it. Thanks!
Just navigate to /sdcard/TitaniumBackup, copy all the files from that folder to the new phone in the same location.
Transmitted via Bacon
Im sorry if I seem like an idiot. But, do I copy the files to my PC first then transfer them to the Oneplus one??
That's how I do it.

depending on how much you have backed up, it might be easier to just sync between the two phones with Dropbox. Just make sure you export to /sdcard/TitaniumBackup folder on the OPO.

I usually do a TiBu backup and the drag that folder to the new device and then restore the apps.

Same here. The only system I back up are my text messages.

lil program called app2zip that I use for this function or I usually back my stuff up to dropbox and just download the specific files I need information for. I kinda prefer to have clean starts on all new phones and I dont play games so never had to worry about that.

I used TB coming from a Nexus 5 and I don't have any issues.
I just synced with the Dropbox.
Thanks to all that responed!! I ended up flashing the update zip and so far so good. I guess im just kinda dumb about using TB to transfer from phone to phone. Thanks again!!
I recommend a lot Go Backup over titanium. It has Dropbox and Google Drive sync for "cloud backup" in addition to typical local backup. It also has batch restore and with that you will never need to restore app by app.
Sorry for my English, I am a Spaniard.

All the features that you listed has been in Titanium Backup for awhile. It has cloud backup, local backup, batch restore/backup.
Some of these features are in the Pro version but the money is definitely worth it. When a new Android version comes out, the developer updates it quite fast to have it working.
Ww thats so noob from me.
I have TB Pro from a while (since my old Gnex) and i never tought about using the backups to restore my apps on my new devices because i tought that i could have had compatibility issues (even if i dont never ever backup system data).
You never stop to learn lol.

I just copy my TitaniumBackup folder from my old phone, copy paste it onto my new phone internal storage and then batch restore including my text messages. So easy to setup my phone
And while titanium backup is restoring all my apps, i go into settings and set up each menu to how it was before. Multi tasking on the fly

I didnt find batch restore in TB, and a small but useful feature that Go Backup has but TB not is to backup only the data and not the apk. It is very useful when you want to backup the game data but the APK and OBB are very heavy.

Its a feature in Titanium Backup Pro which is paid. Its been there ever since the beginning. If you use the free version, batch restore is not available.

Hey guys,
i often switch roms and delete all stuff so that i have to download all things from new, this is easy but not very cool.

How difficult would it have been to search and find it about apps like Titanium Backup or Helium? Srsly?
However, you should always reinstall the apps from Play Store, only restore the data.

Random app appeared on my phone and I canĀ“t delete It, It just shows at the app store

Hey guys, I was uppdating my appstore apps and this app "Preloaded widget" by Martin Wei appeared, it only gives the oppen option and doesnt show elsewhere, not even link2sd. Has it happened to someone else? Any way to delete it? Help me please

Format everything and start over installing a new system image. Most likely is a virus app man

Made a factory reset to see if it would take it away and it didn't, installed other rom and it was finally gone.
Still I'm intrigued on what the hell was that and how it got there

Most probably it was a virus app. There a lot of ways to get it installed in your phone( clicking on the wrong ad for example) and they are really hard to remove. The best way is to format the entire partition, in this case /system

Hi folks.
I did only backup the parameters as suggested by the app, but what a pitty....
The main file only weight 468 Bytes (attachement)
This method is clearly unrelialable. As it doesn't backup my whole parameters.
TitaniumBackup appears to be my last shot, but I still have to determine what to backup...

But as I like some challenges, Im going to try it, not because I Doubt about TitaniumBackup supremacy, but by curiosity.

You won't be disappointed. I freeze apps with icebox. Swift backs up more than just apps.
Of course, it's individual choice but I rely on OP Switch as my backup solution. I was a big fan for TB during my rooted days. With excellent Oxygen OS and OP Switch, I have no desire to root the phone anymore.
I haven't used Swift Backup app, but it might be worth the try. It's available on play store.

I can't understand, how to dont have any root Desire in 2020.
Just, how do you handle bloatware or ads (web, app...)?

There aren't many apps on Oxygen OS that I consider bloatware. I use most of them. If I don't use a particular app, I simply disable it. If it still bothers me there are many guides online to debloat using adb commands.
I use paid version of AdGuard and have no issues with blocking ads. One license fee covers all 3 phones in my family.
