i have a htc sensation 4g, tmo phone. I am trying to delete this app called DICE and i cant find a way on how to permanently delete it, i dont even use it at all...
CAN SOME ONE PLEASE HELP ME....
by the way, the phone is rooted...
Use an explorer like root explorer and go into system\apps. You will find the apps there. Simply delete the apk file and it is gone for good! I am like you. When I flash a rom I delete all the apps I dont need. So far using stock rom 1.50 rooted, I have had it on now for about 36 odd hours and still sitting at 50% battery. Oh the other place you can delete downloaded apps from is \data\apps.

Titanium Backup allows you to delete system apps. I believe you have to enable an option called "Chuck Norris mode" inside it to be able to, though.
Nah you can just click the app in TB and his Delete. Itll ask if you're sure and then it destroys it, regardless of mode.
TB pro lets you freeze apps though, removing them without actually removing them.

I rooted my phone using SuperoneClick for mac/linux, and it was very simple. It said my phone was rebooting and that my phone was rooted.
Now what do I do? What can I do with rooting? I don't see any difference on the mainscreen. What I did was went to look at my applications and realized I have "SuperUser" now.
When I click that, I have LOG, Apps, and settings, the only thing listed is settings. How can I remove certain bloatware that I don't need?
Get titanium backup so you can uninstall bloatware- if you pay $6 you can freeze the bloatware instead of removing it completely.
A program like Root Explorer can help you get rid of the bloatware as well. Just navigate to System/APP and delete what you don't want. Just be carefull not to delete the wrong software, I think there is a list in one of the threads here of what is safe to get rid of.
Yeah, just get an App manager that uses root access (I use Anttek App Manager). You can either freeze such apps or delete them entirely. You can also change CPU speed, and eventually upgrade to CM7 when it's released, and quite a few other things!
Before doing anything though, I'd recommend backup up your phone with Rom Manager.
Okay, so your steps should be this....
First download ROM manager to back up my system?
Then I download app manager so I can freeze/delete? Freezing might be safer for a newb like me.
that is what I did
I backed up the phone using ROM manager, but where can I find where that backup is to make sure I did it successfuly?
If you are thinking about getting into some serious tinkering, custom ROMs, Kernels, etc. You will probably want to use the NVFlash method to load in clockwork recovery. This method and a good backup of your system should help bail you out of the most circumstances.
Yes, but I'm not sure where to find the backup? I want to make sure the backup was successful. Please someone help
Backups will be found in the clockworkmod/backups folder. Check there to make sure u are doing it right and have a backup.
What can you do with root? As a beginner I would recommend you go slow:
1- Install interesting apps that require root: http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/07/13/8-great-apps-every-rooted-android-user-should-know-about/
2- Learn how to make and restore nandroid backups w/ Clockworkmod Recovery.
3- Freeze bloatware with Titanium Backup Pro.
4- Eventually get to flashing custom ROMs once we get some !
Backup should be on your external sd card in a folder called clockworkmod/backup

I backed it up, went to clockworkmod and my backup, but it doesn't say anything when I click it, neither does it show up in the manage and restore backup
bump, anyone?
try again?

why would you do this to your phone and have no idea what it does or how to take advantage of it?
that's like hotflashing a bios just because it sounds cool.
I'm new to it and want to freeze bloatware? And plus, I can google on how to do stuff and "take advantage" of it =) Thanks
And I just made a back-up and that one is not showing up, gave it a name and everything, would the best thing to do is to uninstall rom manager and install it?

that sound like an easy way to get in over your head
rofl, i still can't get even make a backup, i tried making the back-up twice, and it's showing me the first one, but when I go to manage/restore, it doesn't come up
Do u have an sdcard mounted? If not u need one.
Sorry for being a noob, but i am annoyed by doubletwist constantly loading by itself, is it a must to have this stupid app, or i can work without it fine?

I don't know about removing T-Mobile backup (unless if you want to reinstall it again)! Black Ice 2 needs it for contacts to sync! Off-topic, but of relative importance!

you can use Titanium backup to backup and restore contacts. i'm not sure if you want that service running in the background the whole time!
I've removed Tmobile backup. I have all my contacts saved on my gmail account, which sync's to my phone, so there is no need for the T-mobile stuff.
You can use Bloat Freezer (Paid) in the market, and use TitaniumBackup (Free or Paid) in the market to back up contacts if you want to remove T-Mobile Contacts Backup.
I just save my contacts onto my sd card by selecting "export to sd" and after I flash the new rom I just select " import from sd" and bam, all my contacts are back in place.

Use root uninstaller to get rid of anything you dont want.
use titanium backup make a backup and uninstall just in case u wanna re install and wrong forum to post this in honestly.
root app remover
or
Fast uninstaller

FotaFix also removes extra fota software you don't need in your on-phone memory
Yep, jst root and remove bloatware with titanium backup. But as the other guys said, dealwith ur contacts first.

Hey. I did a search and didn't find an answer to this question. I just got my Inspire last week and am still working up the courage to root it since it is my only phone, and I don't want to brick it.
So in the meantime, how do I uninstall apps that I don't want/ need that are on the phone? Things like blockbuster and friendstream, and stocks? The phone wont let you uninstall them in application manager, and I tried creating a folder to move them out of the /system/app folder so they wouldn't run on restart, but it won't let you move them either. And, of course, since it isn't rooted yet, Titanium backup won't work either.
Is there a way to get rid of these apps that I don't want that are stock on the phone?
Thanks!

Thats why we root, my friend. Grab the hack kit and jump in. There are stock Roms that are rooted and already have the bloat removed. And then you can try some other Roms... lots of good stuff out there.

Running the GB Stock ROM with BW removed. Works great!!!
Exactly as the title says. What gives?
I have free space. Over 300mb
I cleared dalvik cache but didn't work, reboot as well. Anything else I can do?
Lol, I was messing around with titanium backup and now I can't install it no matter what I do.
I'm not sure but I seem to get that with like 100mb free storage on the stock rom. As well as it saying my visual voicemail box is full which I can't even have since I'm on a prepaid plan. Usually I have to uninstall an app just to download an app that is a few hundred KB even though I have way more than enough room... although in your case TB might've caused some issues... Someone else can probably help out more than me though...

This only happened because I had uninstalled and reinstalled TB from the market a few times. I was testing something out. Was going to get TB back onto my phone and be done, but it won't install anymore. Even after I removed a few apps. I have over 400mb free now.

but if I need TB to backup certain apps before I reflash???
out of all the apps I could be having problems with
I tried clearing market data and cache as well. Still no luck. I'm starting to get really scared here. There's a lot of things I need to backup
Even if I sideload the app from my sd card, it still tells me I don't have enough space
I just uninstalled and reinstalled Mahjong Artifacts from the amazon app store a 40mb game WTF???
And TB still gives me an insufficient storage error
so it's only TB? If that's the case then use a different app to backup or even just make a nandroid backup wipe and reflash then use appextractor from the play store to pull apps from the nandroid...

Yes, its only TB. Lol that app didn't work. It would scan a nandroid and then the scan would finish. It wouldn't give me any indication of what apps it found or if there was any I could install. I was trying to find TB through one of my old backups, but it was a no go
Well es file explorer can backup any apps. You need root enabled I'm pretty sure as well, but you can do menu> manager> app manager> select (for multi select), then just select all the apps you want to back up and select backup.
File expert will backup apps, as well as things like androzip, etc...etc...
Or you could go in by hand and pull them individually with Root Explorer. Root Explorer is without equal the go to app to explore, manage and fix things on your device and well worth paying for.
Also, maybe cruise through these links about some of your backup concerns:
- Preparing for backup
- Backup Guide
...and don't forget to back up your sdcard to a computer, maybe your problem is similar to something like what was found here?
Official CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7 ...and once you finish backing up your sdcard to the computer you should format it after working through this issue and before flashing a new ROM.
Probably something silly like leftover files in /sdcard/android/data or something similar...
...i'm just getting off and crashing now, and meant to a while ago, so if I think of something sometime else not on the edge of sleep i'll post it. Good luck.
Edit real quick:
...and the clockworkmod backup is always a good grab:

...instead of using an app to try to fight with the backup image on the phone, use a real computer and the unyaffs tools to open it. You can get whatever you want.
Thanks for the help guys. I'm guessing there was a problem with TB and it wasn't going to have any help getting started again.
Bit the bullet and rebooted into Virtuous Inquisition. Amazing rom with great battery life. You should try it out for anyone who wants AOSPish. Gets better battery than it's Sense cousin Primadonna.
All apps are working again. I will work on getting some of my apps back from my old nandroid when I have time.

It's tied into autoupdate for the app. Turn it off in the Google Play Store.

Just installed Butterz Sense on my HTC Evo V 4G (Awesome ROM), but I elected to try out Facebook Home... Someone help me remove it now? It's not in my list of apps to remove, never ran in to this before... Do I really need to re-install the ROM without selecting FaceBook Home?
Any help appreciated!
Does titanium backup find your app? If not, go to /system/app and if it's there, delete it. Be sure not to delete something else.
