How do I put the modem into USB connection mode for programming QPST? [SPH-P500] - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On some Samsung phones it's possible to to access the modem and do some programming in QPST and DFS, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get the Tab 2 10.1 to be recognized by these programs on the ports. On the Samsung Galaxy you can adjust the USB mode by dialing ##8778# in the phone app, but I can't find the equivalent with this tablet. Has anyone else had any luck?

Nevermind, figured it out.
Edit: JK, not going to be one of those people... The solution is to download Anycut or another custom shortcut creator and then add a shortcut to the Activity "phoneutil." There may be multiple listings of this, if so it's the third one down.

##634#

I read somewhere about dialing ##634# to do battery test on wp7 devices however on my phone it enabled something called "embedded tool" and says something about passing DM codes via USB. Does any know what this means and if it can be used to help crack the device. Also does anybody know other dialpad codes that might help?

Confirmed that this code brings up the mentioned menu on my Arrive.
Diag has two toggles:
This tool allows device to transfer DM commands between device modem and USB ports
Diag mode - DISABLED (with a toggle)
Auto Diag mode is for PLTS LBS test use only and should remain disabled for other tests.

Ok I found another code... ##786#

##786# brings up a Service Tools menu which has multiple buttons (confirmed with Arrive).
Select function set:
{DATA}
{MSL}
{PST}
{RTN}
I haven't clicked any of the buttons yet.
Thank you Layne for describing these more thoroughly. I've just been posting these as I find them. FYI I'm not responsible if you brick your phone by messing with the settings within these various tools. Use at your own risk.
On that note these codes all access the last mentioned "service tools"

Anyone with any insight into what the abbreviations mean? MSL - Master System Lock. RTN - Real Time Network. Not sure about the others.
Also, anyone with a "spare" that can afford to dive deeper into the menus with less concern about bricking? Or maybe someone wants to go play at the Sprint store.
I'm wondering if any of those will allow the USB mode to be switched to allow tethering?

Clicking some of the submenus.
Data Status --- shows the IP Address. But I can't ping that IP (not totally unexpected) but it might be interesting to see if there are any open ports.
Configuration --- shows a lot of phone details. Chipset: Qualcomm 8650. AMSS Version. PRL Version. Device version. Hardware version. etc. (Not sure if any of the details are useful to those with better hacking skills.)
The others all show information, but those two look the most useful for someone digging into the phone's guts.
Also, anyone with a USB sniffer might want to play with the Diag mode.
The only one that worked on my HTC 7 Pro (Mango, dev unlocked) is ##data# it looked interesting but I was afraid to press on any of the options
I got adventursome and actually pushed many of the buttons. Most of them were just displaying information. The MSL (Master System Lock) screen I didn't play with other than to click into it and it prompts for a PIN. I also didn't play witht he Diag mode. All of the other areas pulled up screens full of information.
So I have been researching this stuff. I have found out that these screens only display info unless you know your MSL code that is when you can enter the MSL code and edit almost all of those settings. From what I can edit I believe I may be able to make it so my phone could work on another network. I'm afraid to test that theory out though.
As far as diag mode I have found when you flip the switch on that my computer wanted a different driver to be able to recognize my phone. I have found a driver so my computer now recognizes my phone in diag mode as a modem. I haven't been able to get this to tether the device unfortunately. I have also found a computer application which lets you pass DM (Device Management) codes to your phone. Unfortunately I don't know any dm codes my phone (The HTC Arrive) recognizes. I will continue to update if I make any more advances with this.

The terminal I found accepts hex and ascii commands. I have been having trouble finding these. Anybody know a good resource?

Can you post a link to the DM console? I might play with it some when I get a chance.
Sorry, it took me so long to answer.
I have the HTC arrive so...
I've been messing around with a program call CDMA Workshop which is available at
http://www.cdma-ware.com/workshop.html
to be able to connect you need to put your phone in diag mode
##634#
tap diag
enable diag mode
You will also need HTC diag drivers available at
http://www.techwerkz.com/evo/HTCDiagDrivers.zip
I know that says evo but I have used it and I'm telling you it works.
Be warned... if you mess with the wrong settings you can really mess up your phone.

[Q] Can't access hidden menus on Galaxy Stellar/SCH-i200

I'm trying to put my phone into PDA mode so Odin will recognize it. However, what I've found online for this phone isn't working. I open the phone dialer, enter *#22745927. . . and nothing happens. The posts I've found all seem to be from a few months (or longer) ago, so I'm wondering if the last update changed the codes -- doesn't seem likely, but what do I know.
Anyway -- does anyone know an alternate way to get to those menus, or any other way to get the phone into PDA mode?
its done

[Q] How to Enable *#22745927(hidden menu) on GT-I9300 USB Data connection not working

Hello all, I am having a problems with the USB connection of my phone since 2 days. The Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300. It suddenly won't charge (very rarely it does ) and I cannot connect to any computer via USB. You simply don't hear the USB sound, no device is detected. The funny thing though, when I go to download mode, the device is found instantly, and I can also flash the device with Odin, as I have done several times, trying to fix this problem. This suddenly happened two days ago, I didn't change anything, it simply stopped working from the one day to the next.
I have searched and read about this issue, and I found out about epic dialer codes.
this code is working : *#7284# (I had to flash to different firmware to get it to work though), i am now on this firmware:
GT-I9300_PHN_I9300XXALE8_I9300PHNALE4_I9300XXLE8.tar
The problem is, there should be a Qualcomm USB option, but it simply isn't there. I have read that many others have the same problem(no data connection and no charging) and they fixed it trough that setting. I also found that dialer code *#22745927 should enable this function, but this code is simply NOT working!
Also *#0808# doesn't work, I really want to use my USB data connection. I have 5 batteries and also a wall charger, so I am not worried about running out of power, and I am also sure it isn't a battery problem. I have 2 data cables, I can use them both to flash the device in Odin, when I connect the cable when the telephone is Off, I can see the battery for 10 seconds, but then it disappears and will not charge. (very rarely it does)
How can I enable the hidden menu and get to the qualcomm USB settings??? I also tried the app "Secret Codes Revealer" I have flashed Beanstalk, CM 10.2, in every firmware I cannot get the data connection to work. I am now trying different firmwares to get to those *#@! Qualcomm USB settings
Please help

Try this: *#22745927
*#22745927 doesn't work that's the problem I think
Apparently several people are having this issue, I will now try to flash verizon firmware to my vodafone device, to see if I can get that option to work, and afterwards flash it back to CM10.2
OK, I found out the following: the Galaxy s3 for US and Canada is a different model, the SCH-i535, and the qualcomm settings only apply for that phone, It's a little confusing, but the option apparently doesn't exist on GT-I9300 model.
That guide doesn't apply to you; the Qualcomm related stuff is only for the US and Canadian Galaxy S3 models; they have a COMPLETELY different chipset (Snapdragon S4 instead of Exynos Quad). Do not follow that guide.
*#0808# doesn't work... unable to get USB Settings Menu.
I faced the exact same problem. On my S3 GT-I9300, *#0808# was not working and I was unable to get the USB Settings Menu. Actually I needed to select "DM + MODEM + ADB" in USB settings. I achieve this goal using EFS Professional. I used EFS_Professional_2.1.73_Release. Just connect your phone to your computer, open EFS Professional, select tab "Samsung Tools" and select usb setting menu in drop down menu, the required menu will appear on your phone. This method is tested on 2 different S3 models where *#0808# was not working.... Hope this will help others.

QPST

Its been several years since I have used QPST for anything (samsung instinct?) so I am basically green with it again. I have been trying to get it to connect to my GS5 to try to push a custom PRL but i cant get to to show an ESN. I can connect to a samsung USB port, but it just shows 'no phone' and 'no ESN' after I add the port. I cant seem to find any sort of diagnostic mode or setting that will talk to it.
I have tried USB debugging, searching through the debugging and data programming menus, connecting while in recovery mode (still looking for a driver that will work), but nothing works so far. I have also tried forcing it to a debugging mode in QPST but it doesnt change anything.
Any ideas from someone more familiar with QPST?
Also if someone can figure out a way to get access to OMADM Hidden Menu that would simplify all of this. Appearantly access has been denied on the S5 where it was wide open on the S4. I might try pushing the S4 apk onto the S5 and see if i can screw anything up
ok so i found out how to get it into diagnostic mode but now i cant seem to find drivers for qualcomm diagnostic mode. anyone know where i can get them?
samsung drivers arent working when i put it in diagnositic mode unfortunately
Try this,
from your dialer, type ##3424#.
Then select Qualcomm USB settings and choose DM+Modem+ADB.
How do you connect the Galaxy S5 to QPST? I need to read the profiles and get the NAI, HA, AAA etc.
Thanks

[Completed] [Q] S5 dialer codes not working, tip of iceberg

Hi there, I have an( nTelos) Galaxy S5 SM G900R7. I just got this phone with a bad ESN, thinking it would work in the UK with GSM, and just put CF-AutoRoot on it . I have been trying to follow these guides to get the phone to work on GSM bands because I guess the R7 only shows LTE/CDMA and CDMA option for network mode. No apn settings that I can see or anything I was used to with my old S 2X.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/guide-enable-unlock-edit-add-gsm-lte-t2948822
The problem is I CANT DO ANYTHING because the dialer codes are not working? Everytime I type in a code like *#080# and hit the call button it says "Mobile network not available" after a few seconds. I've tried using Phone Info Samsung to access different secret codes but none will work and I get this error message.
This is only my first night of trying/reading forums/failing but I feel out of my depth on this one. I hope your collective expertise can help. My S2x is on its last legs so the situation is semi-dire
Hi there
You already founded the right place for your device so there is the best place for asking that. Try again here:

Good luck
Thanks, I've searched extensively because my problem has changed now. I ended up putting kitkat firmware on my phone instead, which then was able to be read in RNDIS+DB+MODEM mode by my PC and installed the Remote NDIS Driver. I was able to get into QPST and QXDM and mess around with things I shouldn't have messed around with. Now my phone cannot shut down. Whenever I try to power off, it says Power off , the thing spins, and it just stays there until it eventually reboots on its own. I can only shut the phone off by pulling the battery.
I've tried to use the software download in QPST to restore my NV using the backup I made beforehand, but my phone keeps flashing in and out of connection with the COM5 port, going from being there to showing no phone every couple of seconds or so. So the software cannot get a lock on my phone to restore the NV. I can view the .qcn and see all the NV values and everything, but with my phone going in and out of connection, I am not sure how I would be able to edit the values.
I am wondering, is there a way to manually restore a .qcn or the NV values using the phone itself, or some way to solve this connection problem? or perhaps some other software?
Again it is an SM-G900R7 with stock kitkat4.4.2 fimware and CF autoroot installed.
