PhoneMyPC - General Topics

Most people who use PhoneMyPC love it. Many of us who bought it found out that Google has removed it from the marketplace, forcing us to find new ways to download it to install it onto our new phones. That sucks, and you can't be sure if the apk you're about to download is clean or not. Well maybe some of us can, but I know I can't.
There is good news though, if you want to download it to your new phone (I recently purchased a Nexus 5) you can go to to the Google Play store (play.google.com), on your desktop computer, and search for it there. It will allow you to install it to your new phone. I haven't confirmed if this works for people who haven't already purchased it, but I know it works for those who have. It didn't work when I logged out to try to see if I can find it. If you are looking to buy I believe you can still purchase it from Amazon's marketplace.
Anyways, this is my first post here. I love this forum, I am not a developer but I do appreciate all the help I find on here. I'm sure many of you might have already known about this workaround but there might be somebody like me who needs the help. I figured it's about time I shared.

Somebody with GARMINFone get the APK ??

I would love to see someone with the new T-Mobile Garminfone pull out the apk and see if we can use it in our Incredibles. I would just love to see how it would work on a real powerhouse of a phone ;-)

So anything you rip off another phone is illegal, how come we do it with alot of stuff on here... then again what do i care /ripriprip
The problem with this is that it's the map data mostly. When I was on Windows Mobile, we had the same problem with Microsoft Voice Command. Even though it came with most WM phones, you weren't aloud to share the .cab (equivalent to .apk) file for it. In fact, cooking roms with it was kinda frowned upon. The problem was the licensing, because Microsoft actually charged for the app, for the few phones that came without it (the manufacturer had the option to use it, I'm guessing they decided to just pay for it to have it come loaded). Even when TomTom came out with a "trial" for one specific WM phone, the cracked program wasn't allowed on XDA, even though cracking it just made it possible to use it on other phones...... You still had to buy the maps from TomTom for the phone..... It's all just a CYOA policy, and it's what makes sure XDA won't be shut down!
So I guess the question is: if I am able to find the.apk, would it work on my inc. Has there been any success stories?
It would certainly be interesting to find out. I remember someone in the past had made a GPS Phone based off Windows Mobile. I can't remember who offhand, but I'd think it would be more profitable for them to release the software for a reasonable price than to offer it only on their phone, which who knows how much they're really making off it. I mean it comes down to profit, but I'd think that considering my DInc came with built in Nav for free, and is a much better phone, why pay a premium for a phone with GPS, when you can get a better *phone* and add GPS software for a minimal cost (or use the FREE one included!). Just my thoughts though.....

Hello, You aren't allowed to post you email apparently and it has been removed.
Making this forum the only way for us to help you.
First of all you should ensure wether you have a MileStone (EU) or Droid (US)
You can tell by looking at your phone and checking if it says Verizon.
If it does, I can't help you any further and you should ask for help in the Droid forums. If it doesn't, I'm close to sure we can help you out
So now that you know which phone you have, you've probably done half of the work already. I can't really tell what your problem is, but I guess you have these 2 issues:
1, You have no GPS-Application. You can buy, or get one for the phone. I'm talking about softwares like Navigon and iGo, which aren't free though, but allow you to navigate without internet (for if you don't have an internet contract.)
If you don't want to pay any money and own an internet subscribtion in your contract, you can just use Google Maps to navigate! Update it through the android market and you're good to go!
2, Now for the second issue:
Unfortunately we don't have any chance of getting custom roms! Only the Motorola Droid Does! There is a way through nandroid backups, but seen the fact that you are just new to the whole thing, I'd recommend you to explore the forums and later on install MotoFrenzy, or the official update to Froyo from motorola, which they will, according to them, release by the end of 2010
Hope I helped!
Greetings, Mike

[Q] The Simpsons: Tapped Out

So, another day another game thats not compatible with our devices despite being compatible with the Prime and Nexus 7 (can anyone confirm that this works on the Nexus 10?)
My question is has anybody managed to get it working and if so how?
Thanks in advance

Can't commit about whether it's working on a Nexus 10, but it not working on my TF700 is frustrating me too. While you can't download it from the store, I've tried installing several different versions and it closes on all of them after the title screen appears.

i heard that it does work on the nexus 10 from other forums. Exactly the same story for me my friend, tried about 6 different .apk files all with the same result. It is lazy development by EA especially if the screen resolution is the problem, since the Nexus 10 has a higher one. It makes no sense for a top end device to lose so much compatibility.
I sent EA an email yesterday asking why, and now im waiting for a reply.
Sit tight
Cool. Will be interested to hear if EA responds. My guess is if they do they'll place the blame on Asus and/or Nvidia.

well actually they havent even bothered to reply to me yet, despite me sending 3 emails. its been over a week now, they obviously can't be arsed because they are awful developers.
I'll keep on trying anyway, got nothing to lose right?
a small update
So i actually managed to get a reply from EA (not to the email i directly sent them, which has now been over two weeks since ive had a reply, but a forum topic i started about the compatibility).
They said "It is the decision of the company that builds the device, which Android version runs on it. The Simpsons: Tapped Out requires Andriod version 2.3.3 (or higher)."
Er what? For starters android tablets dont run anything lower than honeycomb (aside from the original galaxy tab), and the TF700 is a MUCH newer device so automatically runs at least honeycomb. As we all know it did in fact come with ICS.
So yeah, pretty unhelpful, but at least i got a reply. Waiting for the next one now i guess.
LOL. That's an even more useless response then I expected you'd get, but thanks for the updates.
UPDATE!
I received an email from EA today:
"Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.
I sincerely apologize for the delay in response. Going forward, we would do our best to respond in time.
Having going through your email I found that you want to know about the compatibility for the game "The Simpsons: Tapped Out". I'll do my best to help you out.
I request you to please refer the link given below to check the compatibility of the game.

Go on guys, follow the google link, you'll find its worse than useless.
I guess im grateful for a reply FINALLY, however aside from "helping me out" that link made the reply useless.
Lets all give EA a round of applause.
Still no reply from EA I guess....I started this forum topic over on the Tapped Out forums. I encourage anyone with an Infinity to hop over there and voice your disappointment in the support EA provides for its hottest games. Here is the link: hxxp://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/0/9453462.page#28257145.

Actually....
Appologies for not posting sooner but ive been pretty busy with uni.
Anyway i have indeed received another reply. After them asking me what device i was using, what version and what the problem with the game is (!!!), they forwarded the information i gave them to another department :-|. THEN i got a reply...
They said that they would forward my query to the studio who actually make the game, and they will deal with it.
However, they said that i shouldnt really expect a reply, and even then they may do nothing. He ended by saying the game may or may not ever be compatible. Great.
I definitely shall be joining that forum and voicing my opinion, it worked for the sims free play after all.
At the moment it doesnt seem likely.
Wasn't there a "worst company" award recently?
I'm an owner of a Acer a700, which have the same hardware (tegra3, 1920*1200 res), and the game don't work on it too...

I did wonder if this device was compatible given the strong similarities. Thanks.
still no compatibility despite the latest update. Im gonna go on the forums and complain some more and request that the 4.3 update also includes compatibility I suggest everyone else does the same for the maximum impact.
SUCCESS!!
MAJOR UPDATE! The compatibility on the play store still lists the game as incompatible.
HOWEVER, google search "the simpsons tapped out v4.3.0 apk" and click the third link (it's apkwikipedia). You will find an apk to download in a zipped format (.zip or .rar can't remember). Anyway, the apk is working and as i speak im downloading the updates on the main page!
It is a modded apk (at least one of the .apk files in the package is) so you will get unlimited money.
Regardless, it is now possible to play the game on the tablet. I will update any problems/issues encountered once i've tested it.
Download and get playing! Spread the word!
EDIT: i have played around with it and everything seems to work as well as on my phone. If you lose your friends list, just sign in and out again of origin and they should turn up.
Finally got this game to work on my Asus TF700 and not by using a modded apk. Got fed up with the freezing and force closes that I was experiencing ever since I got this tablet using the official firmware, so I unlocked and rooted my tablet and loaded the Cromi-X rom onto it. Big improvement in performance. And to get This game to work, I downloaded an app called Market Helper which tricks thr Play store into thinking your phone or tablet is a different phone or tablet. The Market Helper app requires root, isn't available in the Play Store (so google it to find it) and while I couldn‘t get it to work the Play Store app, it worked great via the online Play Store (and once you reboot, your device ID goes back to it‘s orginal state).
Glad more people are getting it to work. To clarify, the link i posted does has both a modded .apk and a non added .apk
Also, slightly unrelated, how is Cromi-X performance wise? Was it easy to do? Did you keep all your apps and system preferences? Will it be possible to keep the game when installing this custom rom? Need to do more research before i commit!

attention towards samsung galaxy core max needed.

Guys, I'm a fan of XDA. They literally support every mobile.
However, idk why this 'chinise' model of Samsung isn't talked about.
I mean out of the Samsung galaxy core family, gt5108w out rules them out. However , its only available in China. Now many of us are stuck with this. No play store is installed, no Google services etc. Many of us weren't aware that Chinese phones don't have gapos installed and hence, we suffer.
So I'd like if any of you guys could make some developments of this model. Like a custom recovery to install gapps would be nice.
Generally, when a certain model isn't getting development attention, it's simply because there are insufficient developers who own it, or not enough users to make devs feel it's worth the effort. Just asking someone to do it won't do the trick.
One solution would be for you to learn how it works and try it yourself. That's actually how a lot of xda devs got started: because they wanted something and no one else was doing it.
You can install play store manually

[Completed] Pantech Crossover P8000

The information I have been able to find here and on the web for this device is rather old, so I am doing this thread in hopes of receiving some new information.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26635332#post26635332
I see this thread, and would like to try it but would appreciate updated information regarding it, as the last post is nearly 3 years old. Is this thread still correct? Is this the best answer for the Crossover?
I've seen stuff I'd like to try but am not the one to be the first. I'd like to not brick my device.
Is this phone capable of installing Replicant or CyanogenMod? Their sites do not list it as being able but also possible is that nobody cares about it.
Is there something else that would be better for this device? It is kinda weak, especially by today's standards. I really only use it to play music and voice record, but it can do more, I am sure. What is some possible recommendations for this device besides just using the stock OS?
I recently did a factory reset on it and found to my surprise that the play store no longer works. It has 'market' installed but the market app crashes. I found f-droid and am relatively happy with it but would like to make the most of the device. Your expert opinion on it would be very helpful. Thanks.

Hi friimynd. I couldn't find much information about your device here so I recommend just posting in that thread if you can't find any updated information. Your device is not that common here so there aren't that many topics to pick from.
