Anybody find a wireless charging PMA back without the flip circle cover ?
Sent from my LG-D850 using Tapatalk
I am curious about this too
It isn't likely to ever exist because Att is the only one that had PWA. Therefore it's not in manufactures best interest to make these for one variant of s phone. I can wish it will happen, but I know or won't.

I'm not so sure how widely PMA is adopted. I think it may only be US. I'm hoping 3rd party vendors start to sell the receivers / phone backs on eBay & Amazon.

Well google, lg, Samsung, etc support qi just because Starbucks and apple are using PWA that doesn't mean anything. PWA has a much smaller market share than qi even with those two companies. Android has a ~80% market share and apple is at ~17% globally. (Those are the most recent numbers I could find). Qi will live on like blue ray and PWA will die off like HD DVD.

I'm not rooting for either one, just saying that Apple, Starbucks, AT&T, etc have a lot of clout in the US. Not sure Android having 80% market share in the US is quite right...
Apple is good at what they do... If they implement PMA charging with the next iPhone, you know they market it as their own invention, sell Apple branded PMA chargers, etc. They're pals with Starbucks too, they'll make a big deal about it.
Anyways, not sure why people are hating on PMA so much - because they have to buy a new charging mat?

It's 80% globally not in the US. It's mainly because most people have qi and don't want to switch.

People don't really care about wireless charging. But if Apple and starbucks, two of the most popular companies in America starts using it. Its gonna be a big deal.

Ditto. I'm not an apple guy but if they implement it, PMA will be the dominant player in the US for sure. We can agree to disagree but I'm more than willing to put my money where my mouth is on this one. Again if Apple implements it, say goodbye to Qi in the US.

Yup. I bet that less than 1% of all Android users use Qi charging (or any kind of wireless charging). If Apple implements it, I bet 80% of their users will use it. It will be another "technological wonder", everyone will wonder why no one had "thought of it before", and it will become a mainstream product/accessory - just like every other Apple product.
To be honest, I'm really surprised that Apple hasn't already implemented it since their phones have such a bad reputation for battery performance. I can assure you that their users would love the ability to wirelessly charge their devices with OEM hardware.

Well when you already have a standard like Qi being adopted by big companies like Google with the Nexus program devices(5,7(yr?)) and Nokia. Then people who see the benefits of that technology buy and invest it with there dollars then rug is pulled under them with a company making a business decision instead of a common sense decision to revive a dying competitor like Frankenstein. Consumers have the right to be mad as no Powermat devices are rated above 3 stars unless it's the iPhone version and you also have to have a case to charge the device. It also create confusion and no solution is provided at AT&T stores.
I don't mind AT&T taking out the technology but not provided a viable solution to add Qi charging like the Samsung S devices(S4, S5, Note) can get a wireless receiver to add that ability through a 3rd party.
tldr: AT&T made a business decision that's not helpful for consumers when they is already an adopted standard use by companies.

Pma for lg g3
Hey guys I have an lg g3 and you know they sell the actual sticker for the back cover seperately now? you can buy them from ebay, amazon, and this other website i found. the range from about $20+.
Just type this into google LG G3 AT&T D850 PMA Wireless Charging Chip + NFC
Out of curiosity and hypothetically speaking, I wonder if a person could buy the Qi/PMA circle case and just cut off the front cover. Would it still function? Would it charge the phone without the circle stuff? Anybody tried this?

Use the marketplace here its free to use with far less hassle than ebay. I've sold 2 phones here my g2 and nexus one and both were successful, easy and smooth transactions!
you can also try swappa.com they charge you $10 but the service is great I've used it several times to buy and sell phones.

Wow - I hope people aren't getting robbed! Meet at a Verizon store, not in a back alley in the worst possible part of town. Done many a transaction via Craigslist, never once had any issues and I usually sell within a day or 2 and get the amount I am looking for.
Wat r ur opinions on this statement? I know the power of Apple and its following but it seems a bit far fetched that one electronic device could actually lift the gross domestic product enough to impact the overall economy?

In theory any $800 item that sees millions of purchases within the first week of release would make for a temporary surge.
In the long run, it won't change anything. You also have to wait and see what happens with HTC possibly trying to ban the import off the new iPhone.

Yes but the consumer pays tax on purchased goods and so of course it will help the economy if millions are sold.

if it sets any GDP it'll be how much less units it has sold against Android phones
the Wall Street news will probably read
"For the 5th quarter in a row Apple's iPhone5 has sold less than expected margins against rival Android platform blah blah blah..."

I just found out at work while on a Samsung technician training the galaxy as 4's are possibly going to be recalled. The frame of the phone is to weak and flex's easy resulting in the screen cracking down the middle. Samsung is determining how many they've sold and what the cost would be. Depending on the cost they'd either issue a recall or replace the phone when it breaks for that reason.
Just letting the community know.

That's the type of information that is usually way up the food chain. The kind of information that can drive investors to cost a company hundreds of millions of dollars. How is it that tidbit of information fell into the hands of a technical group? Not directly calling you out just wondering as the person above me, is there any corroborating evidence? Or is this just something that is said off the cuff on the call? Because what you're alleging is a pretty big deal.

It does better than the S3:

It makes sense though... There was that 1 guy who has a cracked screen under his glass, with no visible damage to the outer glass or phone so it could have been induced from this "recall". The guy says he never dropped the phone and the glass in the pic proves it. There was a crack down the middle of the display under glass...

good point but the biggest bullet that proves its bs is that no company will recall millions of devices on an issue that is not safety related. Companies don't recall a phone because of a weak spot, they will recall it if there is a grave risk of spontaneous combustion, or if there is a risk of physical damage to a human being. Recalling millions of phone to prevent people from cracking their screens makes no sense whatsoever. It will be hundreds of thousands of times cheaper if they just replace screens or bezels if and when people brake their screens. I already dropped mine twice, once from 2 feet and another from about 5 on office floor carpet, i have no chips or physical damage to the phone.
In law, i studied that in order to recall a product, there has to be a safety hazard or a voluntary recall because of a major and widespread manufacturing default in order to maintain reputation. Companies spend millions of dollars to evaluate if a recall if cheaper, or letting their product fry people and settling on lawsuits in court. Believe it or not, there were many instances where companies have let their products kill clients knowing there were major issues just because it was cheaper to settle in court than recall all products, this happened a lot more in the car business.
In any case, none of those scenarios are viable or even a problem here.

they never considered a recall, they never even acknowledged the problem. The gave free bumpers to clients that got the iphone within the first 3 months and the rest sued and won in court and got a lousy 15$ compensation.
Another fiasco was with the Asus transformer, they did a acknowledged from the start and they gave everybody a GPS dongle for free. And besides that, they even offered a trade-in for the new transformer infinity when it came out...now talk about a deal. You get a tablet that cant lock-in GPSs as fast as a regular device and a year later you get to trade it for a brand new spakin 1200p tablet! Asus are the boss!

thats what make a difference between an honest company and a horse crap money makin machine. Apple used to be cool, when jobs was still in charge, now all they want is to keep their crown way up there, but sorry apple, other companies are going to eventually give you the same treatment rim went through. Luckly for us, it wont happen with samsung anytime soon, and thats what happens when you diversify your business so much, youre pretty much indestructible, phones, computers, fridges, washer/dryers, tvs, electronic components, sound systems, cameras, consumer electronics, if one part of the business goes bad, the rest will eventually keep the company afloat until they catch up.
Hey guys,
I saw this smartwatch on Indiegogo the other day and I think it's pretty sweet.
http://igg.me/at/kreyos/x/2722203
Looking at the specs sheet alone its definitely something.
What do you guys think? Get it or wait till more is out?
I actually kinda like it, my only real bug with it is the proprietary watch band
I have a black pebble that I use with my s4 constantly and I'm loving it
I'd like my pebble to be more interactive and seem a little more durable
the pebble is built tough but this seems indestructible
if it's really as tough as the indiegogo post makes it out to be I feel like it'll be the only smartwatch to really compete with pebble
although sonys smartwatch 2 is gonna be totally spec'd out soon . .and apple's *supposedly . . and google's *supposedly
I went in on the Agent Kickstarter. I really like the way those guys are approaching their product.
I think the sony one would be nice. But, what about price point? I have a feeling it's gonna be a lot more than $129.
Apple's? nah. I doubt Google's going for a watch. They're probably only interested in Google Glass.
Oh I definitely saw the Agent watch. That is twice the price of any smartwatch. And I'm afraid by the time they finally made that watch, there'll be many others with the same capabilities and cheaper.
I finally went ahead and pledged for the Kreyos. In my opinion it's worth the $130 price tag it has right now. Plus it can do more and looks future proof. I have been eyeing the pebble and almost pledged for the agent but then i didnt like the fact that it only charges wireslessly.

But in the end I wouldn't bother wasting my money again in the future with those phones.
