My power button is broken so I need to take my phone in to get it replaced. Following the instructions to get it unrooted/return to stock, I need my phone to be recognized in fastboot. It's not happening; I've tried it on three PC's and none of them even see a device connected. It's not even a matter of drivers because when I'm in fastboot it's like nothing is connected at all.
I can't use my volume buttons in fastboot, basicaly I can't do anything at all in fastboot...no volume buttons, no power button and it can't be recognized.
Volume buttons work when phone is turned on. I can do anything I want in recovery or when the phone is up, but in fastboot I can't do anything.
Someone please help!!
By the way, ADB works perfectly but obviously fastboot does not because my PC thinks nothing is connected when fastboot is up on my phone and as I mentioned, my phone is completely unresponsive to anything that I do when I'm in fastboot. I can't use the "volume up/volume down" and tap the power button to get into downloading mode either because MY STUPID POWER BUTTON IS BROKEN!!!
Thank you again in advance....you will be my hero if you can help me with this!!!

I have tried that so much I think I'm going to break my phone.
I just need someway to return this phone to stock without expecting fastboot to work because it seems like it is unresponsive since the power button is not working. I know this sounds weird as heck but I have all the correct drivers installed but three different computers don't see any kind of usb device connected when the phone is in fastboot. I sincerely believe it's because while in fastboot my messed up powerbutton is screwing it up because it's thinking that the power button is held down the entire time.
If anyone has any ideas on how I can get back to stock please tell me. I have 100% access on my phone when it's in recovery because I can use the buttons at the bottom and I have 100% access when it's fully booted up but when it's in fastboot I can't do anything and no computer even sees a USB device connected to it.
Pleaseeee help!!

i believe that my phone thinks my power button is always pressed down too, but fastboot works here. my suggestion is that you try a different usb chord. i had an usb chord that i could charge with fine, but nothing else worked. i thought my nexus one was messed up until i tried another usb chord.

have you tried pdanets website? http://junefabrics.com/android/
go there, download the free download and install it to youre computer. its tethering software. but thats not why you should try it. follow the on screen instructions after its installed and itll install the proper latest drivers for your phone. theres a chance your drivers might be out of date.
oh yeah. Used pdanet drivers and Google drivers. No luck with either. I can adb with both but like I said the deicer is not the issue it's that fastboot is totally unresponsive so it looks like nothing is connected to the pc
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
anyone have any other options/ideas for me?? It would be greatly appreciated
Find an Odin package. Put phone into download mode by installing battery, holding volume buttons while connected to USB.
Does anyone know if the 301k ohm resistor jig works for ns?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
ODIN doesn't work because of the gosh darn power button being broken.
I went kinda crazy and erased everything in recovery so now all the phone does is boot straight into fast boot. I deleted the boot.img recovery everything, hahahaha (I laugh but really I'm crying inside).
I need a fix ASAP, I'm officially out of a phone.

Wow, this actually worked for me Thanks Simms!
I just got stuck in the same situation (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22884288&postcount=24) so I kept tapping the back of my phone (with the back cover off). Fastboot kept restarting at first, but then my volume keys started allowing me to change options. I selected recovery and nandroid restored my phone. Now all is well *wipes brow*
Funny thing is, my power button now works properly again (it hasn't been working for the past week)

have you found any solution? I have the exact same problem here: powerbutton stucks and no usb-recognition in fastboot (no luck with the tapping either) but no problem with adb in normal mode.
would be great to know if you found a way to deal with this. Thanks!

Same problem here.... going crazy since the power button just died on me. I think the device thinks the button is pressed all the time, which makes it a hw issue.. any help to retrieve data on phone would be great!
Having the same problem as the OP...
Pls can someone find us guys a solution.:crying:
Thanks
I had a broken power button and had the same problem. I just sent it back to Samsung with no ROM on it and they fixed the power button and put Gingerbread back on it even though I had voided my warranty by unlocking the bootloader ;')

This might be too advanced for you, but if you're really desperate, you can try the solution in this thread. Haven't tried it myself but if you just follow the instructions, it might help you resurrect your phone. Good luck!

My case is just like your. I'm starting to think mine is burned something. Tragic.
Have a nearby technician check it up for you just to make sure. It "might" just be a battery problem, who knows. They got the tools to test it
okay i would do that
but the phone is just a year old and i had never problems with the battery :/ maybe my processer overheat or something?? because i overclocked it
Earlier this day i was rooting my phone, but its not rooted properly and started blinking. i think it was bricked. Please help me to unbrick it. i can't afford a new phone. My phone model is Asus Zenfone 2 Laser ze550kl. Please help me as fast as you can.
[email protected], you can mail me. please try to help me, i am in a serious problem.

Try pressing and holding all possible button combinations and see if they get you anywhere. Try plugging the phone into a computer. Try all button combinations while it's plugged in to the computer.
Also if you know how to, check if the computer recognizes the phone in any way (ADB, fastboot, MTP...).
Also what blinking is it?
On the screen? LED? Camera flash?
What colour is it?
What is blinking? An image? Text?

I have the a500kl sometimes at random make strange boot with blinking or other
not working
i have tried that. First key combo brings the phone in fastboot mode and when i try the second key combo its started blinking again.
Not working
I have tried everything you said. It dosen't worked. My device name "ASUS In Search Of Incredible" in the middle, and at bottom "Powered By android" is blinking. There is nothing more.

Get a copy of the stock ROM and try flashing that in fastboot. This *should* fix your problem.

If I connect the phone to the charger does not turn on anything does not charge ...... after 3/4 hours I find it hot.
The usb is no longer responding to anything ......
Only the power button makes it vibrate one time and after a second the second vibration and starts doing that notification led sequence
Thanks for the interest you are very kind
I've been trying to load it all night but nothing has changed.
From the calculations I did during the last flash within the update.app, these images were deleted: sha256rsa, crc, curver, verilist, efi, fastboot to try a recovery.
After this happened ..........................
I was programming with dc-unlocker
Thanks again for your help.

I'm trying different combinations with the tast but nothing to do ......
The biggest problem that the usb is not detected and can not attach it to the pc
I've already tried with usb 2.0 always dead
I've tried in power on all keystrokes and I've never heard sound recognition windows usb
On no , no fastboot we cannot do anything .just take it to care and they will fix it .
And dload option with the correct firmware in the sd card not work starting with 3 buttons method?
I'll make it pretty easier for you if it's your luck that shines your phone will revive
First do this
Plug in your us type c port of your charger on the phone while holding volume up button for like five seconds. Then leave it to charge for 5-10 minutes and the press power button simply . If it revives , good! If not, let's continue
Now if this didn't work and your have one very simple option of press the volume low key and power button while plugging in your usb type c , which is connected to a PC.
This will open your fastboot and rescue more - open hisuit on pc , hit recovery and it should do the magic
If this also doesn't work , try unlocking bootloader via the same process and flash a recovery and receive your phone.
If nothing of this works , welcome to the league of dead honor 8.

I'm sorry about your situation. I googled a bit to try to find a solution and what I found was this:
https://www.google.dk/url?sa=t&sour...ggzMAU&usg=AFQjCNHnbiPHjoFd2-SXkWsS_zzHVxM1-w
It seems like three persons in this thread had the same problem and two of them had tried returning the phone to a service center and got it repaired for free.
Maybe it is a fried motherboard and if that is the case they will never know that you tried flashing anything on the ROM.
All the best!

Given it's not responding to that, and no lights when plugged into power, I'd say it's probably hard bricked and unrecovaerable. That's the risk when playing with things like dual boot etc I guess. Or just bad luck.
