Hi all,
I've been searching like crazy for the past week, looking for info on the bootloader/fastboot systems on the Xperia L.
I've read in lots of threads that the Xperia L's (and SP's as well) which cannot have their bootloader unlocked (Bootloader unlock: Not allowed) don't have the so-called "fastboot mode" which is accessed by pressing the volume up key and plugging the USB cable.
Now, my Xperia L, bought in Portugal, SIM-Locked to Vodafone, has this "BL unlock: Not allowed" - which means I cannot unlock it nor do I have access to the fastboot mode. The twist here is that it appears that I do have fastboot.
10 minutes ago I switched off my phone, pressed the vol-up key, plugged the cable and the phone wake up with the characteristic blue LED and my computer recognized a device being connected to it.
What I'm asking right now is - where do I stand? Is is possible to unlock my BL having access to the fastboot mode? Is there anything I can do to verify that I actually do have it?
I'm sort of desperate right now because I really want to flash custom ROMs on my L and all I see is closed doors due to this BL thingy. I've been told there are ways to mod a ROM in order for it to be flashed on locked BL (this info came from one FXP dev!) but I really don't see anything anywhere regarding it.
If anyone has any knowledge and/or can help me anyhow, please do so.
Thanks in advance!
have you tried unlocking the bootloader??
Why don't you use flashtool to give it a try

If I try to, wont it brick my phone? I thought of doing it before but was sort-of afraid, because I didn't backup my TA partitions etc.
Though I haven't tried it, I don't think it will brick your phone.
You can first backup your TA Partition and then proceed.
Unlocking bootloader can't even be done with a Non unlockable bootloader
And do try to flash a kernel, it should say not allowed

i have the same problem, so i asked Alejandrissimo he said that i should reunlock simlock and it costs 10$.
I flashed stock ROM's some times and simlock file was ignored but my phone worked and works.
Why lock yourself to one carrier when your phone can work on many ?
Simlock as I think has nothing to do with your problem.
Relock your bootloader and flash that you want...

Unlocking the Simlock
Hello everyone, After attempting to upgrade Gingerbread to ICS on my Xperia Play I used the Testpoint to unblock the bootloader..it turns out that it is now bricked...brilliant of me, I know..using the testpoint it did allow me to use the S1tool and it finds it, however it says that it gives me the Not recognized simlock certificate error message. I used the Sony Bootloader unlock page and ran it with fastboot and it tells me that the phone is already unlocked and using *#*#7378423#*#* it says the bootloader unlock YES... I have already tried flashing the OS, it says that it´s done it but it ignores the simlock.ta and it still wont boot. All I get is a brief vibration and no led. I managed to install the ADB drivers and could enter Fastboot mode, I flashed the kernel and it recognizes it when I open Flashboot but still no boot. What can I do??
In this thread named "simlock.ta problem ignored by flashtool" it says that Mr Alejandrissimo told someone how to unlock it for 10.00, I´m not sure if that may be the solution. Can someone tell me please how to contact him so I can get that information? I´m really lost here I would definitely appreciate the help.
Thank you for your time and I apologize for the long message, I just wanted to provide as much information as I could.
Solution
Brother Flash this file it solve your problem your device will alive
but other sim problem I don't know

It's completely normal for the flashtool to ignore the "simlock.ta". Now when you search in the service menu you have the possibility to unlock your bootloader "bootloader unlock YES". When you do it it's going to be: "bootloader unlocked YES".
You must put the device in fastboot mode by pressing the volume down button then connecting the micro USB to your phone (the USB part should already be in). Then you have a blue led notification. try using adb and search for this file "twrp2.4.3-mint" in the forum. extract the boot.img then flash it using fastboot flash boot boot.img (do a little search how to do it manually). Now you should have the touch version of
TWRP recovery. Put the zip image of any ROM on a sim card then use the TWRP to flash it and get you phone running fingers-crossed.
For the SIM card, i did have another pb related to the SIM card holder pins (contact pbs)...
Anyway, good luck.
Thank You

Emma also shows that the phone is locked!

Also I didnt have a good response from Sony Service!
The only way that I didnt try is to send your phone to the Sony repair center.

Hey,
Use Flashtool's integrated BLU method . Faster and easier! You only need your bootloader unlock key provided by Sony and that's it. Flashtool wil even read your IMEI so you don't have to input it manually. And it doesn't matter if your phone doesn't get recognized by your computer. The important part is that your led is blue.
Succes, and hope I helped!

however my bootloder is unlocked, and I hav unlocked code also, and also phone is rooted ,
Yes this could work for us as we still doesn't have the preloader dump.
AFAIK there is not unbricking way for now.
Somewhere I read that pc companion could work with Q9008. Also worth to try with emma.
I want working on this to finalize the unbricking guide but will not be soon as I need my device for the rom port. When done I will work on this unbricking.
Also it is not a kernel problem. Your flash replaced s1 bootloader with a wrong one.
Good luck a be patient

Not related with TA backup for now. You change your bootloader with a wrong one.
It is almost like if you flash the wrong bios on your mother board. You can't flash it again until someone find an 'electronic' way.
Give a try with pc companion or emma.

You own a d6616? It have unlockable bootloader :s
Send it to repair center. No other choice.
And yes it is confusing, it say bootloader unlock after the fastboot command but it is not true.
@blackhawk_LA made some posts about D6616. Maybe he could help you.

Tanks buddy I am watching your thread, and also let me know when done,
Hi, I decided to post it here because it seems that anything I post on Xperia Ion forum is not read, it is inactive.
I already searched everywhere and I'm loosing my hopes. I'm trying to revive an Xperia Ion and this is what I get:
When I plug the phone in the wall charger the red led turns on for some minutes and then turns off.
The same happens when I plug on PC, when the led turns off it is detected as "Somc flash device" in windows device manager and this shows in flashtool:
INFO - Device connected with USB debugging off
INFO - For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
Nothing changes if I plug in pc with volume + or - pressed, it don't goes into fastboot or flashmode.
I hope you could help me. Thanks
dude i have the same problem as yours i have a z3 d6643 and i made a mistake when downloading the kernal the device loads normal flash mode and flashtools working! power button + volume down runs twrp but it no longer starts at sony black screen someone please help!

Same problem with an XZ, someone has a solution?
sometime Win recognize the device as QUSB_BULK
It was late and I was cleaning up my old OP5T, getting it ready to sell. I thought I had plugged in my OP5T, but I still had my OP6 plugged in when I ran "fastboot oem lock". Now it won't boot and I can't unlock it (I'm assuming because I can't get into the OS and "enable OEM unlocking" anymore).
Is there anything I can do?
try using search next time because its already been talked abput here https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/help/relock-bootloader-t3798135
Actually, I DID read that. I didn't just roll off the cabbage truck. If you have time to post snippy replies (I also searched YOUR post history), then maybe you can point out where in that thread the answer to my question is. I could see if there was a thread where this specifically happened, or if it had been talked about over and over, but I couldn't find one. You do know this is a fairly new device, right? TBH, you're just being rude. To count on someone to hit the right search terms for a single thread where the info exists is just asinine.
1) I have not seen anyone with this situation on the OP6 yet
2) The OP5T had an unbrick tool
3) Most phones have a way to restore the OS to factory
If it can't be restored without calling OnePlus, then why not just say so? I'll answer for you, it's because you actually enjoy replying in such a manner. Grow up.
Have you tried the mega unbrick guide?

I don't think relocking your bootloader will disable the "enable OEM unlock" toggle in the OS. You may just be able to unlock your bootloader as normal again. You should be able to use the fastboot recovery method to restore your OS.

I tried several times. It throws the following error, which when searched for, always seemed to be someone forgetting to enable OEM unlocking in settings:
Code:
FAILED (remote: oem unlock is not allowed)
Success! I was able to get it to work with the drivers from this post. No other drivers worked. I also forced the COM port to the first available (in my case, COM1) vs the one it popped up on. Until I did that, I would just get a huge list of ports that had no device attached. Once I had it on COM1, it was the only device that showed up in the list. The first time after that, I got a "Sahara Communication Failed" error, but it went away after rebooting the phone back into EDL mode again.
Thanks for the help!

Hi buddy,
I tired to relock the bootloader and success in that but the phone stuck at fastboot mode, neither restarting to system nor to anything. Kindly help me if i can flash the stock rom in locked bootloader is so how.
THanks in adv
Did you try msm download tool ?
My OnePlus was bricked and it's bootloader is locked too, I have tried most of the steps like msm and those Bat files etc. But error is coming
"Remote : Flashing is not allowed in locked state"
Even tried that all in one tool that also can't unlock my bootloader
Now plz someone show me steps it will be a great help
This post is more like an explanation.
So my phone got bricked today, stuck at logo. I managed to access recovery and format data, but its stuck at formating data for more than 6 hour.
The only choice left is to unlock bootloader and flash firmware. Now here's the bull**** part.
When i try press fastboot oem unlock it says failed, device state locked. Device state can be set to unlock only through one method, by booting>going into settings>developer options>turning on oem unlocking. Doing this set your device in unlocked device state and thus allow it to unlock bootloader through fastboot. But, if your device got bricked and can't get into phone and your oem unlocking was off (average person will not set it to on) then you're ****ed, cuz without it you cannot unlock bootloader, thus you cannot install twrp or flash firmware.
This is so dumb, not even adb can set the device state to unlock. Read the last paragraph - (https://source.android.com/devices/bootloader/locking_unlocking)
There are so many post like these but no answer. so this post is for those guyz.
guess, i'll use feature phone for rest of my life
That an Android device's bootloader is locked by default isn't dumb, it has good reasons.
BTW: Flashing device's Stock ROM doesn't require device's bootloader got unlocked before.
tried flashing stock rom using adb sideload and fastboot. both failed. adb states that it cannot as it is a downgrade. fastboot says that device state is locked.
Yes, im aware that it is present for a good reason, but someone who's phone doesnt boot up has no way to unlock bootloader or do anything.
I'm not sure that I have the same problem but I have Samsung sm-t500 on the download mode says : device state lock and Im searching for FRP software but I think it won't happen because I tried too to connect via ADB and still can't connect.. But mine is still not bricked.. I will be very happy if you can give me some advice
