Low bars and dropped calls. Help plz! - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all. My current setup is the Latest PA 4.43. Franco R57. Baseband M897A-2.050.1.16. I'm constantly getting dropped calls and I'm not sure where to go from here. I've already tried updating PRL and updating profile. Should I try an older radio? Flash diff kernel?

maybe its just your area? all areas cant be 100% great, there are areas with a bad/terrible signal:angel:. but trying other things wont hurt. if youre undervolting, it can affect it.

would a kernel affect calls in anyway? i just flashed stock 4.4.4 and r57 franco and cant make any calls and my bars drop to 0 when i try to. hmmm

Dunno what the exact problem is, try adjusting your APN's to your carrier, change your radio? Not sure how to help, sorry!
outgoing calls are working?
since when do you have this bug? maybe revert to a stock kernel, even tho i dont think its kernel related.
Were you having this problem prior to flashing the kernel? If not, you should definitely start with the previously mentioned radio troubleshooting.

I'd check your APN settings. As for the guy above you, it sounds like he is complaining about the normal stock radio performance. For some reason, HTC seems to think it's OK for the signal indicator to bounce around like crazy...Try making a backup and flashing another ROM like CM10 and you'll probably see it go away.

Ahh dude the whole reason I'm in this dilemma is because I wanted the ota update and wanted to stick to stock roms for the time being. Isn't there a way to flash a radio on stock roms? Btw this happened because I super cid my phone.

I'm on 1.06es I think, my signal isn't desperately bad, but a phone like this should be better. Other people report the new ota update solving the H / 3g switching thing, but not for me.

I see the latest radio is 1.08ts.50.02.16 from TMOUS

Fixed gps. Broke calls and text.

Finally fixed my gps but now I have worse issues. I fixed it by removing the back housing and putting it back on. Gps locks super quick now but I can't make and receive calls or send texts. I can receive texts. I did upgrade the modem in trying to fix the gps so that may be an issue. I didn't really move anything when I opened the phone up but who knows, maybe I messed up the cell antenna? Any ideas?
I get data and my signal bars are good but always grayed out.

Which modem did you flash? Did the flashing process complete 100%??

Hi,
I have been using PACman 1.9.5 on my skyrocket and i have no issue regarding anything, But when i tried other roms like pacman 22, carbon, embroy, i experience sudden network signal loss. When i am calling someone, my call gets disconnect after connecting and signal gets lost. I am really upset, i want to install carbon rom. please please help me to resolve this issue. i tried different kernels also and radio 6 but nothing works for me,

Worked for me. Avatar ROM version 3.0.:victory: I had to stay on version 2.7beta because my phone i727 was loosing signal every 20-30 seconds. Radio was UCDL2 (if I'm correct).
One hour with UCMC1. Works good.

Barely have a network most of the time

Ever since I decided to flash a stock Rom and not use Carbon Rom, after using carbon as my daily driver for months, I barely have a network(may be a coincidence). It kills my battery also. At home I never have service unless I'm down the block outside I have LTE and its fine. I have the latest radio btw. It seems like it started when I started using Franco kernel, but its probably a coincidence bc what does that have to do with my network...any insight is appreciated. Thanks.
Factory reset? Change radio? Flash stock kernel?

Change radio? Shouldn't I use the latest radio? Guess I'll factory reset and try stock kernel in a few min
You should use whichever radio works best for you. If you've changed radio and now your signal is worse, you don't need to be a genius to realise the first thing to try is the radio you were on before the problem started

Sry to annoy you, but I flashed the November radio build. The radio I had when I bought the N5 and its working great now. I didn't factory reset, I just wiped cache and flashed it.
Good stuff. Radio is always first step if you changed it.
