Radio version? - HTC One S

Hi, can anyone tell me what radio version I should have, android 4.0.4, unlocked not rooted etc. Only I'm still having signal problems and mobile internet still erratic switching between H and 3g.

I'd check your APN settings. As for the guy above you, it sounds like he is complaining about the normal stock radio performance. For some reason, HTC seems to think it's OK for the signal indicator to bounce around like crazy...Try making a backup and flashing another ROM like CM10 and you'll probably see it go away.

Ahh dude the whole reason I'm in this dilemma is because I wanted the ota update and wanted to stick to stock roms for the time being. Isn't there a way to flash a radio on stock roms? Btw this happened because I super cid my phone.
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app

I'm on 1.06es I think, my signal isn't desperately bad, but a phone like this should be better. Other people report the new ota update solving the H / 3g switching thing, but not for me.

I see the latest radio is 1.08ts.50.02.16 from TMOUS

Dunno what the exact problem is, try adjusting your APN's to your carrier, change your radio? Not sure how to help, sorry!
outgoing calls are working?
since when do you have this bug? maybe revert to a stock kernel, even tho i dont think its kernel related.
Were you having this problem prior to flashing the kernel? If not, you should definitely start with the previously mentioned radio troubleshooting.

Sprint's been doing something to the tower closest to my house and I've been permaroamig at my house going on 3 weeks now. Sprint told me it might be a while before they fix the problem. I've been missing calls and they only go through when I force my phone to roam. It sucks because it only happens at my house. lol its happening to my dad's completelt stock shift too so I know its not an issue with my phone. Both of our phones work fine as soon as we switch towers.

Before updating your radios do this:
1) Update profile, reboot phone.
2) Update PRL, reboot phone.
3) If you are not using cellular radio 1.08.01.0111 here is the link:

If your talking about the ones on THIS thread. There is a video in the OP on how to. But if you don't have time, or don't want watch ( although I would suggest you do ) , there are written instructions in the OP. It's always a good idea to read the OP a least once, just in case.

Weak WiFi on jb ROMs?

I have been trying out a few ROMs and it seems the WiFi on the jelly bean ROMs are weak compared to ICS roms. Has anyone had this problem.

I've used Bruce's CM10 builds and recently switching to the official Cyanogen CM10 builds. Last week I tried out Nikez's JB 4.2 AOSP build. I had great wifi on all of them. Like satndin gout in my front yard with the wifi router in the basement in the back of my house good. So it's not the ROM itself. (Though it could be a combination of the ROM and some app or mod you're running)
You might have a weak connection on the wifi anteneas inside the back case of the phone. Take the back cover off, look at the gold pins on the phone, and make sure they are all raised up. You can take a tiny screw driver and pry them up a little more to make sure they are getting good contact with the back cover (which is the antenea). Juts be VERY careful when doing it.
It might not help, but it's a cheap thing to try.
I have tried that too but its strange I can switch to a ICS ROM and I will have full bars in my whole house but with the jelly bean ROMs its one or two bars unless I'm right next to it.

I've got some WiFi tweaks in my kernel that might help. My kernel, Sultan, has the WiFi voltage increased to the max and it has some WiFi signal parameters altered at the kernel level so WiFi networks with weaker signal can be seen. If my kernel doesn't really help then I can build a kernel just for you that forces the system to use the BCM4329 WiFi driver instead of the BCMDHD WiFi driver; that may help. BTW, if you download my kernel then make sure you download the one for Jelly Bean and not the one for Sense.
I tried your kernel and my WiFi is still weak compared to ICS but does seem a little stronger
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app
This is a confirmed issue, its not kernel related, because even with the kernels with improved wifi voltage (which is more voltage than stock), its still a weaker signal than on an ICS based rom.

Is it an issue with proprietary drivers/code or a issue with JB itself?
I tried two different ones but both the same still weak WiFi ... I am new to HTC so I might not be wiping something right but anyways what kind of recovery should I use and what should be wiped every time I flash a new ROM

most users who are S-ON(like me) 4ext has a feature which calls smartflash
before flashing any rom you have to enable smartflash before flashing(if you are S-ON)
and then flash the rom
for S-ON devices it is one way to boot a rom after installation
if you are S-OFF you don't need that feature
So if I'm s off then ext4 isn't really a must have for me

4ext was really buggy for me. 1 of the many bugs I experienced with 4ext was that sometimes after flashing a kernel the phone would get stuck at the HTC screen and I would have t use fastboot to flash a boot.img file in order to get my phone to boot; flashing another kernel in the recovery didn't work and it would still be stuck at the HTC screen -_- If you have S-OFF then use TWRP. Just my 2 cents.

Radio question

Hey all, I'm new to this device. I received it with S-off already, 4ext recovery, running CM 10.1 4.1.2 kernel compiled by bruce it appears.
I wanna check out PAC 4.2.2 rom , but I saw some posts around here about certain ROMs working better with certain radios (which sounds strange).
Current radios
11.69.3504.00u
11.22.3504.07m
On T-mo.
Should I be good?
Much thanks.

if your device works well with PAC 4.2.2 rom there is no nned to change radio
check it and see how it goes
if you want to change radio use getril app from playstore
it will show you the best combination of radio/ril

Hi, it's good to check this thread about our device radios, RILs and their combinations: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202867
Thank you both. I had skimmed a bit thru that thread. It seems the radios I have are way old, and the ROM/kernel that were last flashed on this are from DEC 2012. But, as stated, it is CM 10.1, which all others are based off, so I'm probably good.
Thanks.

Timmaa Or anyone.. One X questions/problems

@Timmaa. I've seen you all over the place when I search RUU 3.18.
My situation:
Wife's phone
ATT One X
U'Bootloader
S-off
Rooted
Cm11 currently
3.18 radio
Problem is battery is ok. Could be better. Biggest thing is signal. She has 2-3 bars on Hspa* where we live. However calls don't seem to go through and if they do, its hours or even days later. I've tried 3 different APNs And its the same thing. I'm not sure what to do. My wife uses her phone a lot for clients so I'm getting reamed for messing her phone up.
Note: normal for signal to go from like 107 to 75 when a call comes in?
I guess I'm stuck and wanted to know.if.stock would be the way to go or if perhaps you might have a better solution to test out.
Thanks a million.
Sent from my LG-G2 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Have you tried another rom? Just to rule that out? If not try a generic stock rom. If I remember correctly cm uses a different area for the radio install, I'm more of a sense guy personally but if you check the radio thread there are versions specific to cm. run a stock on and Have a few test calls come in and see how it reacts. And don't forget I backup your current setup in case the problems persist you can revert back and start next step to diagnose the issue further.

Aosp ROMs don't look in a different spot for the radio anymore, they haven't since about July or August. The radio is possibly what's causing the issue though depending on which ROM/firmware combination is installed.

If you want to return it to being completely stock you'd do the following:
Run the latest RUU.
Write the CID back to stock CID.
Relock the bootloader.
Return the phone to s-on.

I've got the RUU now. Do I need to have s-on or boot loader locked before running RUU? Or does RUU do this automatically?
