[APP] Battery Notification For Active Display - Free - Moto X Themes and Apps

Saw a couple of threads on this and decided to share my work with you guys. This is something really simple to do and I don't think anyone should charge for it. Enjoy!

On my Droid Maxx..the indicator works..but the "Active Display" activates for no reason..the device can be perfectly still and the active display comes on..then goes off..then may come back on again in 5 second or less..does this until I disable this app..

What do you think about the possibility of adding some settings? It is a very elegant app at least it runs beautiful for me on 4.4.4 but was think the possibility of defining percentages to have have the notification change colors and being able to change the battery icon to just a numeric read out as large as will fit inside the lock ring would greatly increase it's usefulness and comfort allowing one to more easily see level at just a glance or maybe even if its just sitting further away on desk or something.
Nice work appreciate it, I'm sure I'm wasting more battery for the time being though since I keep inducing it on purpose lol, if I leave it alone my screen isn't over active at all.
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

O think since it is hard coded notifications are all we get. Which is really fine for me.. Just wanted a weather one
Sent from my XT1058 using XDA Free mobile app

I'm open to suggestions to make the app better but I want to keep it simple. Active display does not show color notifications. I do have the larger numbers instead of battery icon percent which could be an option. Anyone interested in helping that has some experience pm me and I can make it open source.

I like it.....
But it causes issues with my active display. It flickers on and off really quick. I rebooted, but issue persists. Anyone else having the problem? I'm on the republic wireless moto x.
If nobody else is experiencing the issue, I could make a video with another device. Turning the notification off fixes it immediately...
I can't use it with the flickering, but if that was resolved, I would prefer large numbers as opposed to the icon being used.
Thanks again for your contribution! Let me know if you would like a video...
EDIT: also, as @NWKENT had advised, it also seems to activate much more frequently, and seemingly for no reason when enabled.

Update
New update currently in testing. Should be available in 24hrs.
Changes include:
* Update notification on battery level changes only. This should prevent the frequent on/off of active display and once the notification is
dismissed will not show until battery level changes.
* Option to select battery icon or large numbers
* Charging state

Installed new version.
'Flickering' issue seems resolved! :good:
"Large numbers" are not pretty (not sure what I was expecting / or what can be done to make it more aesthetically pleasing though). I switched back to the battery icon because it just 'looks better'.
ISSUE: When pressing the AD button, the stats appear, but incorrectly state that the phone is "Charging", when it is not....
Thanks for your work on this!! I really do like it, and I trust all the 'bugs' will be worked out soon

Forgot to clear data during testing and missed that bug, but if you plug your phone in it gets resolved. Will fix in next update. Also need better resolution icons. If anyone can help with that. Thanks.

You are exactly right about the charging status...plugging it in reset the status and it shows correctly now. Thanks!!
I had a little bit of time to play with it some more today.
Although the "flickering" issue is resolved, I am noticing that it still activates AD -way- too often. I have the phone sitting on a flat surface, not being disturbed. Literally every 5 seconds, AD activates and quickly fades away - I could set a clock by it.
I deactivated the battery notification, and here are observations:
When AD does activate, it stays on the screen for much longer (a few seconds at least...doesn't come on and very quickly go off), and it takes nearly 2 minutes before it comes back on by itself.
I'm wondering if this mod is not allowing the phone to sleep at all? 5 seconds is just way too often for AD to be activating, and I fear my battery life will suffer tremendously so I had to disable it again.
Any suggestions, or any tests I could do to help?

EXACTLY..I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses
I froze the app..because (this morning) in Play Store..the app had an update..and it failed / gave error..(Play Store error) and I like to update all apps at the same time..(less time) so I froze the app. so as not to be in list until another update came for the app..I would update the app after I had read here that the issue (screen off and on) (active notifications) had been corrected..and also..its not in my app drawer..just helps my old brain, less clutter to..lol
I didn't freeze the app because I didn't want it..otherwise I'd delete it..I think the app has great potential.. I tested it..gave my input..then gonna wait it out til next update..I certainly hope this helps you to understand my reasoning..

[FINISHED] Camera LED Flash w/incoming call/sms

App is out there on the market now thanks to rdude.
Here is his post (post #35 from this thread)
The .apk is on post #35 but yall should go buy it off the market and show some support.
rdude said:
Alright, here we go. This app will flash your LED when you receive a phone call or when you get a new text message. Unfortunately it can't do it when you get new emails since there is no standard system notification for email among the many email apps (Email, Gmail, K9, etc.).
Here's a screenshot of the app, Flashlight Alerts:

The APK is attached and it is also available in the Market for $2.99 if you'd like to donate:
It was actually a real pain to put together since there is no standard flashlight API prior to Froyo, but I'm happy with the way it turned out. Let me know if you run into any issues!
PS: I would appreciate it if somebody could check if this thing is actually in the Market on their EVO. It's showing up there on my Nexus One but not on my EVO. Hmm... Fixed this. Stupid bug in the Market makes it so that if you mark your app as requiring a camera with flash, it doesn't show up for EVO.

I'm also very interested in this I crank the tunes while driving too
I slapp some bassssse (Jamaican accent) too, but I just keep my screen face up so I can see when someone is calling ?
Although, the LED flash would be pretty cool considering I use a seidio case/holster combo -

I would think this would be a bad idea for the same reason all those *led* flash light apps warn you not to over use for fear of burning out...If you get a much of notifications that would mean constant use.

Looking for someone to make an app that will flash the camera LED when the phone rings or gets a SMS.
I used to have this on my old Motorola V6 MAXX by editing a file that made the notification LED flash when you got a call or whatever. It was the best for at the bar or somewhere loud...like in the car when you are cranking the tunes!
I'd be willing to throw $5.00 ( i know, its nothing ) to someone who can do this, maybe there will be others.

I'd be very interested in this (or an app that makes the front LEDs flash different colors, if possible). In fact, I'll raise the bounty up to $25 to the dev who creates such an app/tweak . I'd love to have it, it would just be fun

You could disable it. Thats what I did on the MAXX....had it set for on the "loud" profile so it would only flash then.
This doesn't sound like a bad idea to me either.

typical life span of a led is 25,000 hours, and that just means it loses about 50% of its lumens output.
i highly doubt they'll burn out.
thats 2.85 years of being on.
i had this on my moto rizr... was VERY nice...
Are the led notifications on the front facing camera not bright enough for you or something?

Hi.
Does the ASUS Padfone 2 have a notification led?
Can you remove the 'Pad Only' tab in the App Drawer?
Would you recommend the Padfone 2 after using it so far? Im looking to get one or a LG Nexus 4 or an HTC One X+.
Thank You.

Same question
For the Padfone2:
Do games (like World of Goo and Osmos) work on the tab in fullscreen?
Is the sound quality with headphones as good as they advertised it to be?
Does it have any WiFi issues (like does it turn off after the phone has been in sleep mode for a couple of minutes and turns back on when you turn the screen on, like on some Sony phones and Cyanogenmod 9)?
Is the bootloader unlockable?
Thanks.

Hi guys,
- There is no notification LED
- I don't thinik it is possible to remove Pad Only Tab in official launcher.
- I like PadFone 2 a lot this far. There are some minor issues which I will cover in depth once review is finished, but no deal breakers. I cant compare to new Nexus, as I didn't try it, but PadFone 2 looks to be in line and better then One X+.
- Still didn't cover gaming on Pad front, but I will update info once I do.
- Really looking forward to test headphone output. If it is on par with VivoTab, it will be more than good.
- WiFi is coming on in few seconds after waking up, so, no there is no issue there.
- Don't know if bootloader is unlockable, can't confirm that. Early guess is that it will be possible to flash, but due Pad/Phone combination it will be difficult to cook good ROM for it.
You are welcome

Thanks for the responses but I didn't really understand this one. I'll explain what problems I'm having on a Sony device (with and without Cyanogenmod) :
I turn WiFi on (mobile data is off). While the screen is on, everything is normal. When I turn the screen off during the next 10-15 minutes I'm able to receive gtalk/gmail or any other content but after that, nothing is coming in anymore. When I turn the screen on again, suddenly all of the mails and notifications start coming in.
It may sound silly. If you could just turn on wifi, turn off mobile data, let your phone be uninterrupted for about 20-30 minutes and then email yourself from the computer to the email linked to your phone and see if your phone notifies you at once. If not, wait 5-10 minutes and turn the screen on and see if the email comes in at that very moment.
Looking forward to that complete review soon. :good:
OK, didn't understand the issue first time. Will try and get back with more info.

Hey,
I'm currently on Samsung Galaxy S (the first one), and I found a really big need of a tablet. So instead of buying a tablet and a phone separately I'm looking forward to a combination of two, like this one.
I'm more interested in performance, I have seen many tablets so far, even some quad core, but so far they were a bit slow (at least for me).
May you show some performance examples in your review? Like opening many apps and then using the phone/tablet?
Could you post the supernote apk from the Padfone 2, so we can test it on the Padfone 1?
It so cool.!!!!!!

If you are looking for combination of phone and tablet you won't find better. As far as I know, beside Padofone 1, there is no other product on the market. This phablet has a lots of RAM and high speed CPU meaning it delivers some high end perfomance in both phone and tablet mode. On the other hand, if you tried some other high end tablet like Samsung Galaxy 10.1 or Asus Prime, it will feel similar when you are juggling between many apps. Despite manufacturers claims tablets are stil far far away from PC in terms of usability.

Well, it looks like it is normal behavior. WiFi will disconnect when phone goes to deep sleep, ergo you will not be available to receive emails etc... If you want to prevent this, you need to select keep WiFi on during sleep in advanced part of WiFi settings. If this option is enabled, everything works as you would like, instant email notification for example.

[Q] Google play services wakelock

Hi guys,
Having an unbelievable issue with wakelocks destroying my battery, but this is a bit different from the usual stuff you hear about, just read on:
I came from an S4, my wife bought a Nexus5 recently and I was already done with my S4, with all of it's bloat and stuff I don't use (only the camera made me stay but eventually I broke..),and on top of that, sice I upgraded my S4 to 4.4.2 it began having battery issues, it would stay awake all the time, making the phone die in ~7 hours.. so after ALLOT of attempts to figure this out, I decided to start fresh, get rid of the S4 and get a nexus5.
To my surprise, as soon as I finished configuring my N5 (unlock, root, bootloader, xposed+gravity box, the usual apps, nothing fancy) it began experiencing the same battery wake lock drain. now, my wife's N5 is absolutely the same as mine, maybe an app here and there are not the same but I'm not running anything unconventional, I have Beautiful widgets, the usual Google stuff, exchange email etc. Google play services is waking up my device every minute, it drops from a fully recharged battery to 90% in an hour and a half. I've had my wife's phone and mine side by side to compare - same os version, same radio etc.same settings in location are active (location reporting and location history), same location accuracy, same google play services vrsion, same settings in google+ and google now, same everything! I disabled location reporting for now to see it this will have any affect, but this is absolutely driving me nus. why do I need to go through this ordeal, when another nexus 5 is experiencing great battery life while everything is enabled, it will sleep all the time if screen is off.

To tell you the truth I'm a bit hesitant in trying these kind of solutions, yes maybe they could make a difference, but I am tired of messing around with everything just to get a decent experience. I need to know why do 2 perfectly identical N5's experience such astronomical battery differences. And that means I have no choice but to start comparing the two (my wife's and mine) side by side with a needle..
You can always just tick them again if ever wanted. And just so you know. I don't get any Google play drain now and everything works fine. All your doing is removing the stupid permissions gms core wants but doesn't actually need
My battery right now. (gonna charge it at 1% lol)

Thanks allot for the info, I'll try it if I see my temporary solution isn't working.. Seems that if I turn off "location reporting" the wakelocks go away, now I need to find what's different between my settings and my wife's settings location wise, it's definitely something that "came" with me before I bought the nexus 5, it's some setting I have deep withing google..

There won't be any difference, Google have just f**ked up basically. My missus's phone without being set like those settings absolutely hammers her battery (like yours) , yet mine shows about 6% use over the day. But with the boxes unticked shows none so i do it anyway. Otherwise all settings are the same from what I can tell. It did my head in too trying to sort hers out

I'ts absolutely driving me nuts.. I've been trying to find out what's the problem for more than a month now, unbelievable.. but I still think it has something to do with something I have connected\set\changed with Google somehow.. with my S4 I've reset, completely wiped, changed roms, and the issue was still there, now moving to another phone, still.. so it has to be something to do with my Google account
Do a backup and wipe all and Start a new Google account to test?
My missus changed absolutely nothing, was literally just one day it decided "hey I'm gonna ass rape your battery from now on" and that was it

I'm having similar issues with Google play services preventing my phone from sleeping. I've tried the suggestions in this thread, I've also give through other threads and tried them, but over the last 3 or 4 days when there was an update to Google search, my battery has suffered massively!
I'm not sure what else I can do
I've tried turning off all location settings, I don't use Google now and I've even set Greenify to hibernate most of the Google stuff. I'm constantly seeing the message Google search has been greenified when I switch my display on

Go to settings > location > google location reporting > TURN OFF "location reporting" (leave location history on). charge it over night and check battery usage after a day's use.

Hey,
I have seen that some parts of the Google account could not be properly synced.
Could this be the battery drain hanging out together (as this is also part of Google Play Service)?
At least the error always occurs with the battery drain.
bye Stefan

Everything is possible.. What exactly do you mean by "not properly synced"? My friend is experiencing the same behavior even after disabling location reporting.. Anyway.. This is the Google saga we've all been fighting with for as long as I can remember..
I've also seen Google not syncing properly a couple of times today. Had to manually force it to sync. Might be what's causing the wakelocks. Gonna keep an eye out for it from now on.

Running life 360, nova prime, ivona, tasker, android wear, sales force chatter, pushover, notify my android, ifttt, hangouts, used the phone about an hour and a half. Screen brightness at 99%. Also greenify and clean master. I also removed bloat
i have to say im OCD and i dont like to think i have things running that i dont need, so with the help of some posts in xda for carrier IQ and knowledge i have from previous droids and the help of android tuner, i got alot of non used apps removed and using only about 1.2 gb of memory on my lg, to me that is still alot

Impressive.
Is that Clean Master the Anti Virus or cache cleaner?
i wouldnt mind rooting mine, but i bought it retail so i could try out the phone and return it before the return policy ... im that guy. but nonetheless i will probably get it in a little bit with my plan since i am on a business plan. But when not rooted, battery it looks like, compared to those that are, just cannot compare. I am barely squeezing 4 hours of screen time on a charge that will last me all day. I would hope to do a little bit better.
Today i went from 10am and it is now 415pm. i am at 66% with 1 hour and 40 mins screen time ... personally, that's pretty ehhh My nexus 5 with Android L got better than that. sooooo anyone else that IS NOT rooted getting the same results as me or doing a lot better or worse??
That's about what I was getting before I switched to ART. Phone seems to run cooler on ART too.

the cache cleaner, i dont use an av on my phone.
today i went to a client site and i talked on the phone almost all the way there and back,
i have been on battery for 4 hours 4 min, 1 hr talk time, 1 hr screen time, and gps for about 20 minutes and i am still at 83%... i removed all the lg stuff i wont use and only allowed things to run with greenify that i wouldnt use and i still have all network apps (google now, life360, tasker, etc) all working 100%

Yes I do feel it is very hot and I hate the dim that it does...but battery isn't bad
I can confirm that phone runs hot when screes has been on for a while
Not rooted
Running Greenify
Auto-brightness at 60%
Always on: WiFi, BT, push everything
I am considering root to remove some apps and kill CIQ, and perhaps change the resolution all in an effort to get more out of the battery but I am not sure I will squeeze too much more out of it.

At&t flex2 h950

Just picked up the flex2 from at&t at lunch today. So far its been performing great, at least when comparing to my nexus 5 on 5.1. Did not experience any lag so far like some early reviews suggest. Not sure if the 3gb ram helps here. Will report more on battery later.
Same. Battery life is my only concern. I feel like I won't be able to make it through the day anymore. It's 11:30am (I've been up 3 hours), and I'm at 62%. It's exactly what I predicted would happen in my post a few months ago (Link).
But as far as performance, this thing is rocking.

I understand a lot of the newer phones aren't showing up on AnTuTu yet, so I don't know the comparison with the M9, Z4, S6, G4, or P8M.
Mine is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I have a few things for you guys to check out. 1) any screen ghosting like on the first gen g flex. 2) is there any carrier I.q.?

Screen ghosting: No, burnt images no longer show up like they did on the first gen.
Carrier IQ: This is new to me, however, in the list of packages there is a "LADDM 5.0.1-H95010d". I also just did some research on it. I download 3C Toolbox and it definitely has carrieriq.
No ghosting at all. And the performance has been superb. One thing I noticed though is the screen brightness range being quite limited. Its not bright enough under sunlight and not dim enough at night. Screen in most lighting condition is great and vivid though with some noticeable grainy areas. And smart screen feature is not included (the phone stays awake as the front camera detects your face). Not a deal breaker but nice to have feature.
Battery life is great for me. I started my day at 7am and ended up 65% coming home at 6pm with 1.5hr screen on time. I am a light user with occasional YouTube and play music stream, and some email checking web browsing. Connected to my moto360 all the time. No GPS no Wi-Fi just lte. I know the battery life depends much on personal usage, and for me it is great and I'm going to keep my phone (was thinking about switching to the s6 edge).
One big plus is the quick charge 2.0. Boy it does charge fast, and I think it's the one feature I can't live without moving forward.
That's good to hear. Mine should be delivered in about 12 hours from now and I am sending my nexus 6 back. I am on my 4th warranty replacement , seems moto does not do a very good job refurbishing phones. Looking forward to getting back to lg.

US Default Applications AT&T H950
Is it at all possible for someone in this thread to help me in discovering which app I have deleted on accident with the AT&T Variant H950. I am unsure as to exactly why I have no data any longer but I'm sure it is because I have deleted a specific app that is needed in order to access the ATT Data as well as do any kind of call forwarding as well. Perhaps someone here in the thread can post a list of their exact applications so I can find out exactly what it is that I am missing. I have called AT&T about the issue and they are currently investigating the matters but If it is something I can figure out without help I would be much happier without the 90 minutes of wait time. Thank YOU!!
Re: H950 stock Firmware
I have searched the threads here and can't seem to find the ATT H950 firmware files anywhere. Does anyone have a link to the files needed to go back to stock?
