Looks good, at the moment there are a few similar apps available, I have tried all of them, now the difference will be in the amount of features. I like that the refresh rate looks good (unlike some of the other apps available).
Last time I checked your app was not in Samsung Gear Apps store, but will give it a try once available. At the moment there are two apps that are my favorites, one that can record video and high resolution pictures, but the refresh is not that smooth, and the other is 'buttery smooth' but can only record pictures up to 1080p in resolution. Hopefully your app might become one of my favorites as well
Thank you for comment. My app takes pictures in highest resolution possible for chosen camera (rear or front). Video recordig feature will be added in next update, along with resolution choice feature. I will notify here, when app will pass certification and be available in Samsung Gear Apps store.
App is on sale
Phone Camera Remote app is now available in the Samsung Apps store in Gear Manager in Entertainment and Utilities categories.
Update
Phone Camera Remote app update was released with new cool features including video recording and advanced gallery with share and delete features.
Upcoming update
next update features:
-camera zoom
-picture/video resolution choice
-user preferences saving (resolution, shutter sound, flash mode, focus mode)
-new shutter sound mode: vibration
-flash torch mode removed
-torch mode activates while video recording if flash mode "on" is active
-faster gallery images loading
-image zoom in gallery
-experimental feature: take picture/video on wrist counterclockwise 90 degree fast rotate

Hello,
Im planning to add more camera settings including image effects and stabilization in next updates.
Update
Phone Camera Remote app v1.2 update was released.
Changelog:
-customizable camera settings
-scene modes selection
-color effects selection
-gallery images group by date
Excellent app, but ...
.... the only thing that doesn't work for me is an actual view in zoom mode. The image on the gear 2 neo stays the same when camera zoomed in. The camera is zoomed and if I take a picture I get a zoomed image, but the display on the neo stays the same, making it impossible to set a frame for the picture when using zoom.
Otherwise, this is one very cool app.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini running stock O2 android 4.2.2 (with gear support)
Watch: Gear 2 Neo
Ill try to fix zoom issue. Never saw it while testing on s4.

That would be fantastic. Having used the app in several situations lately, it is already in the top two best uses for the Gear 2 Nano, along with the Music Player++ app.
If you can fix the zoom preview issue, it will be hands down the best app I have on the watch.
Thanks for all the hard work!

May I have some questions. What is the videobit of 1080P? Can I increase it or your app just read out it from media_profiles.xml? How is the jpg compression rate on your app? Will you add support for 4K recording for note3/note4/S5/Alpha?
Sorry for too many questions but I'm thinking to get a Gear2 just for this app before I buy it I want to know all things first.

Hello,
app uses default videobit for all video resolutions. Jpg compression rate is 90. As for 4K, it will be available as experimental feature in next update (experimental, because 4K video is not fully supported by the standard Android API yet).

Thanks for fast reply, you are real quick. Because the default videobit is just around 20M on all Samsung phones and definitely not enough for 1080P. Can I increase it by modify the media_profiles.xml myself? or can you add support various bitrate selection for it?
Good news for 4K experimental feature, hope Android 5.0 will real support 4k.

If android takes default value from media_profiles.xml, then modifying media_profiles.xml might help. As for manual bitrate setting, I will try if it is effective to change bitrate manually.

Hello everyone,
GonnyCam is a burst camera app that compresses and saves frames directly to storage as it captures them, avoiding memory buffer size limits that restrict the number of shots you can take in a single burst.
I've recently updated it to support the camera2 API but I've only tested it on a Nexus 5, so any feedback from people with other devices is very welcome! To access the camera2 features (higher resolutions, basically) you need to go into the options and check "Use Android Camera2". The checkbox will only appear if you have a phone running 5.1.1+ and with the "full" camera2 API implementation.
It supports resolutions up to 1920*1080 on Kit Kat and below. Supports basic colour controls, GIF saving etc.
Search "GonnyCam" in the Google Play store if you're interested. I'd prefer to link directly to an APK but the forum software won't let me sorry.
Nice job :good:

Hi. excellent app!
Unusable on a Dji Osmo Mobile though, as you need to keep the shutter pressed continously.
Could you add an option so that the big red button starts (and then stops) recording?
Then I can stabilize my GIFs on the Osmo

Hi, thanks for trying out my app.
The behaviour you are asking for isn't supported exactly in the current version, but you can do something similar by setting up one of the volume button bindings to "Burst (start/stop)". Then you can get the functionality you want, but using the volume button instead of the big red button.

I'm not sure what you mean.
If you mean "why can't I take pictures in portrait orientation?", actually, you can. The app uses the accelerometer to choose the correct orientation to save the pictures in. However, on some devices (e.g. if the accelerometer isn't working properly) then it won't work.
If you mean "why don't the UI icons rotate when I hold the device in portrait orientation" it's because I haven't bothered to implement this yet because it's a low priority for me. The pictures will still come out in portrait regardless.
Yes, that works - must have been a glitch on my phones accelerometer when I tried it last night.
Excellent - thanks
Facebook didn't want to play my GIF as GIFanim - just showed the first picture.
I see online that people claim that is because the gif is not in 1:1 format (but 4:3 og 16:9)
Have you experienced this?
Is there a way to "cut down" the pictures to 1:1?

My app doesn't support cropping GIFs to 1:1 as yet but you can use online tools to do this e.g. ezgif dot com slash crop (sorry I can't post links). Or you could try and search for a GIF editing app. Kind of annoying that Facebook doesn't do it for you tbh
So, I just got an update for the Nokia Camera app through Google Play. It was a whooping 250MB!! So far I noticed it includes:
- All shooting modes (photo, pro photo, video, bokeh, slow and fast camera...) moved to a slide carousel in the bottom
- Front/back camera switch moved to bottom left (thank god!)
- Added a shortcut to google lens
- Option to take "movement" photos (like a short gif)
- Added a button with Snapchat-like masks
- Auto HDR is now inside the burger menu on the top left
So... I'm opening this thread so you can discuss!
Still don't get update. It is possible to backup camera app and post it here?
edit:
Ok, I found it. I must manualy search for Nokia Camera and then update app. Don't have it with others app that need update on my device.
Apparently the filters and masks sections updated itself over the internet and where I had just 3 masks, there's now also an animoji-like Chinese lion and several light sources filters
Cant find the app when I search in Playstore. Any links?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hmdglobal.camera2
I wonder how the image quality differs from the Google Pixel Camera port.

May I know if there is a way to manually set HDR permanently on?
After the update, the Google assistant commands work. Saying "take a selfie" the camera opens automatically with a 3-second countdown
Still forces EIS on 1080p (and lower) recording...
I wish they put an option to disable it.
They should also add 60fps recording for video in 1080 as the processor supports it
I kinda like the new options.
Is ridiculus to not have manual controls on the hdr, is like absurd, like a bad joke....
Front cam at low light is so washed out. It's like saturation set to -100. Wow, just wow.

My stock camera app is different than Nokia Camera app. And for the Nokia Camera app Google Play says "This app is incompatible with your device"
Same here TA-1055 in UK. I have to admit that my Oreo is a restore from Pie Beta.
Well, just got a notification - update for stock camera app (Nokia Camera) and it is whole 247 MB Probably HMD had messed up with this app few weeks ago, then pulled it out of the store and now put it on hopefully a corrected version?
Every time I click a picture it gets in to a never ending processing photos loop and never saves the pictures properly. Even after rebooting the phone it gets back to the same loop.

[ Arnova 8.1 XML Configs ]
There are four XML configs for this version: FrontA, FrontA_shasta, FrontB and FrontB_shasta. If front camera white-balance fails in certain lighting conditions with FrontA, switching to FrontB is advised and vice-versa. FrontA is ideally suitable for day selfies and FrontB for night selfies
NOTE: Back camera performs the same with all four configs. Only front camera white-balance is affected
Download the XML Configs from HERE
To learn how to load XML files please see this tutorial
Create the appropriate path for 8.x version on device storage » put the XML file(s) inside "Configs8" sub-folder » open G-Cam and double-tap the black empty space around the shutter button » load config (switching between configs does not require rebooting)
NOTE: Android 11 users must grant full file permissions to Google-Camera in order to be able to load xml configs
Long-press on G-Cam icon > Info > See More > Permissions > Files and Media > Allow management of all files
For info about XML features and tuning, please read the changelog upon loading the configuration file!
Shasta is a bracketing mode capable of merging multiple frames of different exposures. Affects noise, controls shadows and allows for a wider dynamic range. Works only with Camera and Portrait (capturing is prolonged while active)
Some basic rules for better understanding of shasta in good light versus low light:
a) in good light, shasta generates more details, but may also add more noise
b) in low light, shasta generates more details, but reduces noise by a large margin
[ PRO Back Camera Tips ]
When shooting in low-light scenarios like after sunset or before sunrise, tap to focus on the viewfinder for a better exposure. Focusing manually will raise just the right amount of exposure for a perfectly balanced ratio between highlights and shadows
When shooting a subject with strong light coming from behind, tap to focus on the subject and slightly raise exposure using the exposure slider. This will ensure the subject will be well exposed
[ PRO Front Camera Tip ]
When shooting a selfie with strong light coming from behind or when shooting in low-light, your face may be underexposed. To counteract this issue, tap to focus on your face and slightly raise exposure using the exposure slider. This will ensure your face will be well exposed
[ Other Useful Tips ]
∆ EIS works only on 1080p ~Auto/30fps videos using ‹IMX586 QBC HDR Mode› video stream which is set by default for back camera. Only compatible with ‹Standard› and ‹Locked› stabilization modes ∆
For ‹Active› and ‹Cinematic Pan› make sure to set Video Stream Config to ‹OFF› from Advanced » Stream Config menu
For recording 60fps videos make sure to set Video Stream Config to ‹Video HSR 60› from Advanced » Stream Config menu
For recording 4K videos make sure to set Video Stream Config to ‹OFF› from Advanced » Stream Config menu. For smoother 4K videos HEVC must be disabled from Advanced menu ~ 60fps not supported
NOTE: Some ROMs do not support video streams for back camera and/or front camera. If there are issues with Video mode, make sure to set Video Stream Config to ‹OFF› from Advanced » Stream Config menu
To prevent slow-motion focus hunting issues, tap to focus on the viewfinder and lock AF/AE by tapping the lock icon on top of the EV slider ~ 1/8 not supported
For Astro mode there is a dedicated ‹Astrophotography On› button which can be enabled from Night Sight drop-down menu
{ AWB On } { Focus » infinity } { Timer » 3sec }
For faster photos with HDR+ Enhanced, set Image Quality to ‹Auto› (alternatively standard HDR+ can be used)
For smoother selfies with less facial details on HDR+ Enhanced, turn off Ram Patcher from Advanced menu and set Image Quality to ‹Auto› (alternatively standard HDR+ can be used or turned off completely)
IMPORTANT: A clean install is always recommended prior to using Google-Camera in order to avoid possible functionality issues with the app! First uninstall all G-Cam apps currently found on your system » install G-Cam » open it and grant permissions » close G-Cam » clear G-Cam data and cache » open G-Cam and apply the settings/config » reboot device
ABOUT 48MP RESOLUTION: True 48MP is not currently supported on any G-Cam mod due to a limitation in RAW Sensor/Camera2API. This mode is only supported in MIUI Camera. On few devices this hindrance has been tackled via Magisk modules which override that limitation. But on mid-range devices it isn't a viable solution because 48MP coupled with HDR+ will basically freeze the Google-Camera app due to processing power being insufficient. There are some older 6.x.x G-Cam versions which support a 48MP resolution on portrait mode, but it is just an upscaled resolution and not the real deal

This feature does not work on our device due to a limitation in RAW Sensor/Camera2API. And even if this limitation can be overcome, there will be serious performance issues because 48MP coupled with HDR+ Enhanced will basically freeze the Google Camera app due to processing power being insufficient. Google Camera is not designed to work with such high resolutions. Even on the few devices where it does work, it causes huge lags and also the viewfinder is significantly cropped.

Hi
Just a few things I noticed. Sometimes the location data is not saved, the logs cannot be disabled. It keeps logging regardless of the settings. Other than this and the known limitations it's a good port.
L. E. : another issue that I found is that sometimes the camera doesn't take the picture. It focuses, when I click the shutter it seems to take the picture, but nothing is saved. I can't reproduce it. It happens randomly.
Cheers!
Has anyone tried Gcam version 8?

AWB is disabled by default to ensure a straightforward and hassle-free user experience. Suits all indoor and outdoor conditions by rendering accurate image temperature and colors whether shooting in natural or artificial lighting
AWB On (Auto) is suitable for shooting in particular outdoor conditions where a cooler image temperature is needed. Great for capturing foliage with dark-blueish greens and generally recommended for blue colors. Especially suitable for cloudy weather and useful for framing the blue sky with a mass of water in one shot. Not suitable for capturing warm colors such as light-greens or yellow colors in general and great for neutralizing sunlight

It's any possibility to enable HDR on video recordings with 60fps 4K resolution? It's a Samsung lab function available only in UHD @30FPS.
Maybe mod or camera software from S23 Ultra? Maybe different solutions.
In Gallery in S23 Ultra there's a new features - magic selector when You press an object on photo for a 3 sec. (like in iPhone). It's possible to ad this feature to our phones? I know there is a selector when we using sPen, but we need to select manually what we want to copy.
You'll get that image selector feature in one ui 5.1 update...so stay tune

I've already One UI 5.1 but this features doesn't work. Still must go to photo editor and manually outline the selected object.
