[ Arnova 8.1 XML Configs ]
There are four XML configs for this version: FrontA, FrontA_shasta, FrontB and FrontB_shasta. If front camera white-balance fails in certain lighting conditions with FrontA, switching to FrontB is advised and vice-versa. FrontA is ideally suitable for day selfies and FrontB for night selfies
NOTE: Back camera performs the same with all four configs. Only front camera white-balance is affected
Download the XML Configs from HERE
To learn how to load XML files please see this tutorial
Create the appropriate path for 8.x version on device storage » put the XML file(s) inside "Configs8" sub-folder » open G-Cam and double-tap the black empty space around the shutter button » load config (switching between configs does not require rebooting)
NOTE: Android 11 users must grant full file permissions to Google-Camera in order to be able to load xml configs
Long-press on G-Cam icon > Info > See More > Permissions > Files and Media > Allow management of all files
For info about XML features and tuning, please read the changelog upon loading the configuration file!
Shasta is a bracketing mode capable of merging multiple frames of different exposures. Affects noise, controls shadows and allows for a wider dynamic range. Works only with Camera and Portrait (capturing is prolonged while active)
Some basic rules for better understanding of shasta in good light versus low light:
a) in good light, shasta generates more details, but may also add more noise
b) in low light, shasta generates more details, but reduces noise by a large margin
[ PRO Back Camera Tips ]
When shooting in low-light scenarios like after sunset or before sunrise, tap to focus on the viewfinder for a better exposure. Focusing manually will raise just the right amount of exposure for a perfectly balanced ratio between highlights and shadows
When shooting a subject with strong light coming from behind, tap to focus on the subject and slightly raise exposure using the exposure slider. This will ensure the subject will be well exposed
[ PRO Front Camera Tip ]
When shooting a selfie with strong light coming from behind or when shooting in low-light, your face may be underexposed. To counteract this issue, tap to focus on your face and slightly raise exposure using the exposure slider. This will ensure your face will be well exposed
[ Other Useful Tips ]
∆ EIS works only on 1080p ~Auto/30fps videos using ‹IMX586 QBC HDR Mode› video stream which is set by default for back camera. Only compatible with ‹Standard› and ‹Locked› stabilization modes ∆
For ‹Active› and ‹Cinematic Pan› make sure to set Video Stream Config to ‹OFF› from Advanced » Stream Config menu
For recording 60fps videos make sure to set Video Stream Config to ‹Video HSR 60› from Advanced » Stream Config menu
For recording 4K videos make sure to set Video Stream Config to ‹OFF› from Advanced » Stream Config menu. For smoother 4K videos HEVC must be disabled from Advanced menu ~ 60fps not supported
NOTE: Some ROMs do not support video streams for back camera and/or front camera. If there are issues with Video mode, make sure to set Video Stream Config to ‹OFF› from Advanced » Stream Config menu
To prevent slow-motion focus hunting issues, tap to focus on the viewfinder and lock AF/AE by tapping the lock icon on top of the EV slider ~ 1/8 not supported
For Astro mode there is a dedicated ‹Astrophotography On› button which can be enabled from Night Sight drop-down menu
{ AWB On } { Focus » infinity } { Timer » 3sec }
For faster photos with HDR+ Enhanced, set Image Quality to ‹Auto› (alternatively standard HDR+ can be used)
For smoother selfies with less facial details on HDR+ Enhanced, turn off Ram Patcher from Advanced menu and set Image Quality to ‹Auto› (alternatively standard HDR+ can be used or turned off completely)
IMPORTANT: A clean install is always recommended prior to using Google-Camera in order to avoid possible functionality issues with the app! First uninstall all G-Cam apps currently found on your system » install G-Cam » open it and grant permissions » close G-Cam » clear G-Cam data and cache » open G-Cam and apply the settings/config » reboot device
ABOUT 48MP RESOLUTION: True 48MP is not currently supported on any G-Cam mod due to a limitation in RAW Sensor/Camera2API. This mode is only supported in MIUI Camera. On few devices this hindrance has been tackled via Magisk modules which override that limitation. But on mid-range devices it isn't a viable solution because 48MP coupled with HDR+ will basically freeze the Google-Camera app due to processing power being insufficient. There are some older 6.x.x G-Cam versions which support a 48MP resolution on portrait mode, but it is just an upscaled resolution and not the real deal

This feature does not work on our device due to a limitation in RAW Sensor/Camera2API. And even if this limitation can be overcome, there will be serious performance issues because 48MP coupled with HDR+ Enhanced will basically freeze the Google Camera app due to processing power being insufficient. Google Camera is not designed to work with such high resolutions. Even on the few devices where it does work, it causes huge lags and also the viewfinder is significantly cropped.

This is ANX (MIUI) Camera, so of course 48MP mode works fine. It doesn't work with GCam.

This is due to color filter arrangement which is set to <RGGB> by default. Changing it to <Auto> will solve the problem. Better yet, use the XML config provided on 1st page.

Hi
Just a few things I noticed. Sometimes the location data is not saved, the logs cannot be disabled. It keeps logging regardless of the settings. Other than this and the known limitations it's a good port.
L. E. : another issue that I found is that sometimes the camera doesn't take the picture. It focuses, when I click the shutter it seems to take the picture, but nothing is saved. I can't reproduce it. It happens randomly.
Cheers!
Has anyone tried Gcam version 8?

XML CONFIG: I have created an XML config for this version which is tuned for best image quality. You can download it from HERE
To learn how to load XML files please see this tutorial
NOTE: Switching between configs does not require rebooting!
AWB is disabled by default to ensure a straightforward and hassle-free user experience. Suits all indoor and outdoor conditions by rendering accurate image temperature and colors whether shooting in natural or artificial lighting
AWB On (Auto) is suitable for shooting in particular outdoor conditions where a cooler image temperature is needed. Great for capturing foliage with dark-blueish greens and generally recommended for blue colors. Especially suitable for cloudy weather and useful for framing the blue sky with a mass of water in one shot. Not suitable for capturing warm colors such as light-greens or yellow colors in general and great for neutralizing sunlight
NOTE: PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION PROVIDED IN THE XML CHANGELOG FROM MODS CONFIGS CREATOR!
[ PRO Back Camera Tips ]
When shooting in low-light scenarios like after sunset or before sunrise, tap to focus on the center of the viewfinder for a better exposure. Manually focusing on the center of the viewfinder will raise just the right amount of exposure for a perfectly balanced ratio between highlights and shadows
When shooting a subject with strong light coming from behind, tap to focus on the subject and slightly raise exposure using exposure slider. This will ensure the subject won't be underexposed

For faster photos with HDR+ Enhanced, set Image Quality to ‹Off› or use standard HDR+ instead of Enhanced
For smoother selfies with less facial details on HDR+ Enhanced, turn off ‹Use Sabre› from advanced menu, turn off lib patcher from Mods Configs Creator and set Image Quality to ‹Off›
For smoother 4K videos HEVC must be disabled from advanced menu ~ 60fps not supported
To eliminate focus hunting issues while recording a slow-motion video, tap to focus on the center of the viewfinder and lock AF/AE by tapping the lock icon on top of the EV slider ~ 1/8 not supported
[ Night Sight Astrophotography ]
For Astro mode there is a dedicated ‹Astrophotography On› button which can be selected from Night Sight drop-down menu
For best astrophotography results, set ‹Samsung S5KHMX› as AWB model for back camera from Mods Configs Creator and select ‹AWB On› button from Night Sight drop-down menu

For example, "ColorOS Camera for CM11s", "Another ColorOS Camera Port", and "CameraNext Modded."
The developers for these camera ports and mods are explicit about what they do and don't support.
None of them currently support OxygenOS. This bears repeating--"None of them currently support OxygenOS."
It is counter-productive and messy for users of OxygenOS to keep posting in the developer's threads about how their camera ports fall short of the expectations of those who are trying to plug the cameras into rom's for which they were not made.
Please come here and help each other, or be quiet, and leave the dev's alone.
If and when there is support for a camera on OxygenOS, the news will travel like lightning.
I have so far run some superficial tests with "ColorOS Camera for CM11s", and here are the results..., so you can know what to expect should you install it on OxygenOS.
You may add your observations to this thread as you wish.
So here's a list of what did and didn't work in OxygenOS.
What worked:
Normal worked just fine--all I did was leave settings on auto and pressed the shutter.
Burst worked, however each burst photo is only about 1/3 size of Normal photo in megabytes--this might be by design.
GIF worked.
Picture Plus worked.
Beautify worked.
HDR worked.
Colorful Filter worked.
Double Exposure worked.
What didn't work:
HDPicture did NOT work--it took only Normal sized shots at 13mp.
Super Macro did NOT work--it snapped a photo that turned out to be some sort of thumbnail.
Colorful Night snapped a photo, but terribly out of focus--tried several times..
Slow Shutter did NOT work.
Professional worked, but NOT using the timed shutter. I didn't try all the settings out.
RAW showed me the jpg, but I could not find the dng in OxygenOS native file manager app (Files), nor see it in Android Quickpic or in Windows.
Been testing out CameraNext Modded.
HDR worked.
Normal worked.
Macro worked however became difficult to focus when very close to subject, as I've not yet learned the proper place on the screen to tap to offset the parallax.
Variable shutter did not work.
That's as far as I got
Also, in the Normal settings, the only resolution options were 13mp and 10mp--don't remember if that's intentional.
COS12S CameraNext On OxygenOS:
Normal works, focus-Macro works.
Panorama makes a very tiny file, about 500kb.
Slo-mo 1080 @60fps worked. Grainy, but worked.
It might have been the medium light which was fine for 1080, or maybe that's just what happens.
No Slow Shutter available in Scene modes.
ColorOS Camera for CM11s/COS12 on OxygenOS
Video: 4K and 4K DCI recorded at 1920 x 1090. Slo-mo at 1280 x 738, and HDR at 1920 x 1090.
Thank you.

Ya, me too. Give it time.
P.S.--you are welcome to post your experiences with the different cameras here and help fill in the blanks.
10mp (16:9) doesn't work
1) I normally prefer taking pictures in wide resolution. I guess oxygenOs has removed the support for wide resolution at higher mp.
The setting 10mp (16:9) in the camera setting for Colour OS app doesn't take pictures in 10mp, but in a very small resolution. Only the 2mp (16:9) and 0.9 mp (16:9) settings work.
2) Beautify doesn't work on my phone.
Seriously hope someone fixes this.
Thanks
Clear data.

Go System->Apps->the ColorOS camera app (might be called "Camera") and clear data.
Likewise for the plugins.
Try Beautify again.
ChronoSnap
Just now tested ChronoSnap on OxygenOS. Indeed, as the developer states, it seems to be a very simple and intuitive timelapse camera.
On OxygenOS though, it snaps only thumbnails.
@Android-Andi
This is information about SultanXDA's ROM regarding the camera.
SultanXDA ROM thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/onep...-12-1-t3120259
From the other thread I've learned to NOT flash another camera HAL, that ColorOS Camera has mirrored preview with selfies, and that ColorOS Camera will not show the 1080 selfie option.
Mirrored preview ColorOS Camera:
"sultanxda--Not a real bug. This is an issue with the ColorOS camera, not my HAL. The ColorOS cam was designed to be used by the CM/ColorOS camera libraries, and it's not a part of the actual ROM (it's an outside closed-source app), so I will make absolutely no effort to try and fix it."
1080 front camera ColorOS Camera:
"CameraNext and all other camera apps have the option, but ColorOS doesn't. Have you tried scrolling up in the video size list?"
Also, someone reported a bug switching from camera to pano or sphere:
"macimeister--Photosphere and Panorama mode in google camera app does not work. It is expected to improve this?
sultanxda--Just tested it, and this bug only happens when switching directly from camcorder mode to photosphere. Switching from camera mode to photosphere is fine.
There seem to be other bugs with Google Camera as well. I'll look into fixing them."
Since sultanxda states that many of the ColorOS camera features are closed-source, I gotta figure that for the most part, ColorOS and Another ColorOS will not be fully implemented.
Otherwise, seems to be fine camera-wise.
It is boring to always use the auto mode in camera so let's try the manual mode and have greater quality pictures, which is better than auto mode.
What is manual mode ?
Manual mode is one of the main settings on your camera, and it lets you manually control shutter speed, white balance, manual focus, and ISO in most. These three settings work together to control the how bright or dark your photo is (known as exposure), as well as change the overall look of the image.
What is ISO ?
In photography ISO measures the sensitivity of the image sensor. The same principles apply as in film photography – the lower the number the less sensitive your camera is to light and the finer the grain. Higher ISO settings are generally used in darker situations to get faster shutter speeds.
What is Shutter Speed ?
In photography, shutter speed or exposure time is the length of time when the film or digital sensor inside the camera is exposed to light, also when a camera's shutter is open when taking a photograph. The amount of light that reaches the film or image sensor is proportional to the exposure time.
What is White balancing ?
White balancing is a process in which a camera will attempt to detect the type of white light largely visible in different environments. This is typically utilized to account for different light sources (fluorescent, incandescent, etc.), as well as different weather types and times of day (overcast, sunny, sunset, etc.). White balance generally focuses on collecting the proper temperature of white light in a scene, which ranges from cold (blue-tinted) to warm (orange or gold-tinted).
This is one setting that is often best left on automatic settings, unless the viewfinder suggests that the automatic white balance is obviously wrong. Of note, RAW images will have to be manually white balanced in post-processing, as RAW shooting will not modify the white balance in-camera.
What is Manual Focus ?
Manual focus controls are a more recent and much-appreciated addition to the control suite of manual smartphone photographers. Most camera apps features a simple and intuitive circular slider which can be used to accurately set focus manually in lieu of the jumpier and imperfect auto-focus, something which is often exaggerated when trying to take photos of close subjects. If you want to take a closer pic of something very near try macro focus.
What is Manual exposure ?
manual exposure is a small supplement to ISO and shutter speed settings, and it is one of the rarer manual settings one will find in smartphone camera applications. If a combination of shutter speed and ISO produce an unsatisfying image, manual exposure is often offered as a way of tweaking the brightness of an image in-camera. It can quite easily be replaced by simply modifying brightness after taking the photo, but it can sometimes be more efficient to get the image right the first time.
What do we have in our Lenovo P2 :
I had Camera api2 activated and snap camera hdr+ and oneplus 5 camera apps.
Shutter speed
Minimum 0.68s maximum 1/96423s
ISO
Minimum 100 Maximum 19200
Verdict approximate values
In low light condition
Higher ISO [ 500 ~ 19200 aprx] + Higher shutter speed [0.68 ~ 1/200 aprx]
In heavy light condition
Lower ISO [below 500 aprx] + Lower shutter speed [1/200s ~ 1/96423s aprx]
Camera Api2 advantages
Raw image capture support
In depth manual mode control

Maybe due to changing roms in mobiles the camera driver can get into buggy, not confirmed yet.
If you want Camera with Raw capture try "snap camera HDR" with force HAL1 enabled in-app setting.
If you looking for completely manual configuration try camera api2 ON in-app setting.

Everything I am going to mention in this post is based on HAL3 and EIS enabled P2 on Oreo roms with the two patches from Astridxx and Highwaystar enabled.
Firstly, some of the Camera apps with manual control:
1. AZ camera
2. One plus camera
3. Footej camera
4. Freedcam
5. Manual camera
6. Open camera
7. Proshot
8. Snap camera
9. HedgeCam 2.2
10. Moment pro cam
11. DSLR camera
12. Camera FV5
13, Bacon camera
and more...
Camera apps with built-in stabilization (or otherwise build prop edit)
1. Paranoid camera (built-in stabilization - works great)
2. AZ camera
3. Footej camera
4. Snap camera
5. Freedcam
6. Update- Quality camera. Link in post 2.
Now regarding my topic:
Everyone knows that by adding a line in build prop enables video stabilization on supported ROMs and camera modules. persist.camera.eis.enable=1 (don't use EIS capital )
But in P2 most camera apps video preview will give you a green screen, yet snapit, motocam, etc, will work but we will get choppy videos with only a bit of stabilization.
NOTE: Gcam ports / Footej camera and almost all other camera apps's 1080p, 720p, 480... video recording will not work after enabling EIS. Only 4 K video works (not much stabilization).
In my research I found out that these camera apps's video preview size is the reason for the green screen.
Solution: Changing the camera "video preview size" to 960p (1280x960).
In the above-mentioned camera apps only Snapcamera has the option to change video preview size. So you can use snapcamera to record stabilized videos till 1440x1080 resolution.
After enabling eis in build.prop you will see an additional tab in snapcamera settings video tab called as "stabilization" (I feel it is auto enabled even if you select it or not).
Selected video resolutions as - 1440x1080, 1280x960, 640x480 , 320x240 - works in Freedcam / Snap camera / AZ camera / Open camera. You can record nice stabilized videos.
Recommended: Freedcam, Snap camera, AZ camera.
Note: Only those camera apps which have the above-mentioned video resolutions will work.
Miscellaneous info:
1. For dark video issue with your current cam app, you can use HTC camera app, the videos are bright enough.
2. May or may not work- for better camera picture quality
Open media_profiles.xml found in system-etc folder
<ImageEncoding quality="100" />
<ImageEncoding quality="100" />
<ImageEncoding quality="100" />
<ImageDecoding memCap="80000000" />
Thank you for reading and please hit the thanks button if I helped.
Another camera app with built-in video stabilization (EIS should be enabled in build prop).
App Name: Quality camera.
Info: No manual controls but I personally feel the picture and video quality is amazing with much reduced noise. Recorded videos are stabilized and are not that dark.
NOTE:
1. You need to disable navigation bar or use expanded desktop from your settings (put the tab in pull down menu) to select camera settings and selecting picture and video modes.
2. You need to select in camera settings photo tab (second tab), change preview size to 1.2M pixels (1280 x 960) or 1.5M pixels (1440 x 1080) otherwise, enabling EIS will give you green screen error.
3. Force close app and restart again.
You will be able to record stabilized videos at 480p, 720p, 960p, 1440 x 1080 (4:3 aspect ratio).
1080p video recording does not work (green screen).
