Alarm clock snoozing automatically - AT&T LG G2

Ok, so for the last week or more I've noticed that alarms set in the stock clock app will bit actually go off. They are simply showing up as being snoozed but I have not actually snoozed them. This is happening on both my wife's phone and mine. Mine is stock rooted hers is not rooted so not seeing any connection to root. Anyone else having the same or a similar issue and any solution?
Edit...I am on stock kitkat latest version

Wow, really not a single one of you is having any issues?! Someone humor me and set an alarm and see if it goes off, try a few times as I have realized this is an intermittent issue as my wife's alarm went off this morning but mine didn't yet hers didn't go off for the entire week prior
Sent from my LG-D800 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

I have the exact same issue. If you turn the snooze time off on mine it goes off as it should, but if I set any snooze time at all the alarm don't go off it just snoozes itself and I miss the alarm

Thanks for the tip, will try turning the snooze time off. I never snooze the alarm anyway

By any chance do you have google now set that you can say "OK Google" from any screen to initiate voice commands without having to touch your phone? There is a bug that in order for it to work it keeps your mic active all the time so your alarm clock thinks you are talking on the phone and automatically snoozes. To fix this just deactivate "OK Google" from any screen under setting in Google Now:

Can it unlock the phone remotely?

Now that we can control our phone by simply saying "OK Google", there needs to be a way to wake/unlock our devices remotely. I've fiddled with tasker and secure settings but I can't get it to disable the keyguard from the watch so that it'll accept the keyword. I know this isn't an issue if you have a Moto X but what about the rest of us?
There must be a workaround.... Surely?
Anyone got any ideas?

Okay just had a quick think, the sony doesn't have a mic so you would need your phone anyhow? It should be possible to remove key guard, turn on display and start Google now though. Is that what you are thinking?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
That is the intent, yes. Problem I'm having is the keyguard with pattern lock though. I'm using the same settings that I use to turn it off when connected to my home WiFi but it's just not disabling even when I run the task through the SW2 extension itself.
Sent from Nexus 5 or 7.
I think you need to swap to a pin, that's what I use for my auto key guard.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Well I've had to set it up with a tasker profile that disables the keyguard when the watch is connected (an auto lock if disconnected extension adds extra security). I can wake the phone with the phone finder extension and then just hit the button on my headset to get voice search to open.
Hell of a workaround but it gets the job done and I don't have to get my phone out.
Sent via telepathy
Just playing around and I can clear the key guard and turn on the display with secure settings. From there I can have Google search or voice search load.

I have a couple of options for this. The first option is to use secure settings and tasked so that when the watch is connected via Bluetooth to the phone the screen lock is disabled. As soon as you leave the phone behind and loose connection it relocks.
The second method allows voice control of the phone even with screen lock enabled. That is full pin password etc.
It uses remote widget, Utter! And optionally Tasker.
If you add Utter widget to remote widget, voice recognition can be triggered with lock on. Normally you need screen access but this gets around it.
You can then create custom commands for utter to run tasker tasks
Sent from my XT1032 using Tapatalk
---------- Post added at 09:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:38 PM ----------
I forgot to say. When Utter prompts and asks for input when you press the remote widget icon on the watch, simply say 'open Google search' then 'OK Google' and away you go

---------- Post added at 09:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:45 PM ----------
I was wrong. I can't run Google search behind the lock.
As above I can open it, but not get it to speak back but can run the search.
I can even call people and talk on the phone using this method with the key lock still in place

Even the cheapest of bluetooth headsets can do this though. I never thought about using Utter so I've reinstalled that but it's still limited.
Using tasker to disable keyguard is all very well but it will always be unlocked the first time you power it on after disconnecting so you should couple it with one of the auto lock apps on the play store just to be safe.
Also, I managed to turn screen on by just engaging the Sony SW2 phone finder app. After that turns the screen on, as long as you're within vocal reach (or have headset on), "OK Google" works fine.
Messy but it does the job without additional installations.
Hopefully, the rumoured Google smartwatch will cover all of this when it arrives.

I just wrote an auto locker in tasker which I find more reliable, I swap watches though so never really gave the sony ones a good go.
Yeah the google one will be interesting.

I have a workaround for it. I am using this with my first gen Sony SW. I installed google voice for smartwatch https://play.google.com/store/apps/...me.smartconnect.extension.google.now.launcher and the LG Optimus Lockscreen https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lockscreen.optimus
Disable your stock lockscreen
When I press the voice search button on my watch the phone unlocks and google voice search starts!
The only downside of this is that this lockscreen is a little battery-hungry but it's not too bad....
I've done this with my nexus 4

[Replacing Whatsapp] What runs well on Nexus 5?

At the title suggests I'm looking for a whatsapp replacement.
Ideally I would use BBM, but I cannot rely on it for notifications. The app icon disappears from the status bar after few minutes and then no notifications will be received until opening the app again.
Any good suggestions on alternatives that are tried and tested on our nexus 5?

Open BBM -> More -> Settings -> make sure "BBM Connected Icon" is turned on.
I've had the same, in the previous version, before this button was even introduced. Ever since BBM was updated, the icon has always been there and has never disappeared, at all.

no go for me.. tried on my nexus 5 and daughters nexus 4 on KitKat.... after a period in deep sleep the bbm app goes into a 0bytes state in settings/apps/running.. then despite the status bar icon saying connected, bbm will not get notifications until it is opened again. Other msg apps cope fine in the 0byte state, shrugs.. I have missed loads of messages over the last week's.
I've tried many things to try and stop that behaviour..
turning it into system app
setting all permissions
changing owner and group to root
odexing it
nothing works

Ah, I see. My bad then.
As of to the replacement - Kik Messenger works well. Works similarly to BBM, by having your own name used to add people (i.e. MrCatalyst) and vice versa. Much more secure than WhatsApp, which uses phone number and lacks privacy, and very similar to BBM at that.
My proposal is Swiss app Threema. Their servers are in Switzerland also. Works OK. If you can get your friends to use paid app.

[APP][2.3+] The Tilt Alarm - A wake up task that works

Can't wake up? Are you turning off your alarm before you're fully awake?
The Tilt Alarm is the perfect alarm clock for anyone that struggles to wake up in the morning. "It's almost like having someone right there to wake you up".
Our goal was to make "snoozing" easier than pulling the battery or force closing the alarm while still making sure the user wakes up. This goal led us to completely re-thinking the concept of snoozing. The current method of snoozing leads to lost time and grogginess in the morning. What we really want in the morning is the music off, and the reassurance that we'll make it out of bed in time.So how did we accomplish this?
When the alarm rings, the user has to tilt their phone almost perfectly vertical for a set amount of time (Tilt Time). The volume will fade as the phone is tilted and once the Tilt Time has been reached the alarm will end. If the user starts falling back to sleep, their hand will fall causing the Tilt Time to reset and the volume to increase.
We suggest starting with the default Tilt Time of 30 seconds if you're able to get a full nights sleep. If you've been up all night working or studying we suggest a longer tilt time such as 45 or even 60 seconds.

Clever concept. Will give it a try.
Currently, I am using my kids as my alarm. How? Just using the built in alarm clock on our Android devices. Once the alarm is triggered my 3kids will rush in my room, jump and dance all they can in my bed...the alarm tone is "Gangnam Style" lol. Recently, alarm tone is "Let It Go" from the movie Frozen and you'll hear my daughter singing out loud the song. Anyway...will give it a try, badly need an alarm that will really make me get out of the bed.
It is a very nice idea. I just installed it, I'll see if it works for me.

Nice app and really great concept. But here are some suggestions to take this app to next level.
1. More detailed notification..something along the lines of "Next Tilt Alarm is set for 6:30 AM on Mon 17" OR "Xx hours xx minutes before next tilt alarm" (I like the first version better)
2. Multiple day (S,M,T...etc) alarm rather then me changing time every night.
3. Notification only shows xx hours before alarm is about to go off. (For instance if I set an alarm for 9:00 am and set notification to show up before 10 hours before then the notification will show up at 11:00 pm).
4. Tilt meter (Kinda like air bubble in leveling tool) when the alarm goes off so I know if I'm holding it right. And also a timer that shows how many more secs do I have to hold it.
5. Snooze/End button will show up after holding the phone correctly for xx amounts of secs.
6. Tutorial/Trail run as to how to turn off alarm on before first run/first setup of alarm. (This morning alarm went and I couldn't figure out how to turn off the alarm because I didn't read the description, which is bad on my part and I had to reboot)
@xsirhc6x what do you think?

You could start with anti viruses and alike... or see what processes are running through adb / shell when the message shows up.
Connect the android to your computer running a live logcat and see what happens when that creepy smile shows up.

Strange indeed. Could it be a network message of some sort? Though I haven't heard of it before, it's possible that it is a network connection acknowledgment of some sort.
here are my findings..
current network: TELCEL (mexico)
smiley appearing after loosing and regaining signal (doesnt matter if it has data enabled or not)
apparently theres a sim toolkit in every sim from TELCEL, i thought that it might be the main issue (toolkit is some services the network provider has )
current solution: changed runtime from dalvik to ART, has been almost 24 hrs without that smiley... just fyi

Have the same issue. 'Anywhere' hot word detection disappeared yesterday. I also think it must have been the update I ran. Uninstalling the Google now update had no effect though. Also tried setting the language to English US, no effect. Next thing I was going to try was factory reset, but sounds like this don't work either?
Installed Google launcher for the time being. Atleast I can use 'okay Google' from all my home screens until this is resolved.
I got the same problem on my older phone
I fixed it by getting a new phone lol

Can confirm the any screen options are missing on my S6 too, had it before the update a day or 2 ago.
I'm wondering if to start a thread on Google product forums and report as a bug. If enough people post it tends to get escalated to google

Same thing happened with the Moto X.
There is a config flag that lists the 'blacklist' phone models. There used to be an app to force the Google app into debug/dogfood mode so that you could change it - but I haven't seen any way to do that w/ the newest versions. My guess is that Samsung chose to disable listen everywhere to try to force people into using s-voice.
