Non-sense launchers - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Just curious to who is using a different launcher than sense. I have been thinking about switching but I like blinkfeed a lot. Has anyone noticed battery drain while using a launcher like Nova and having a setup for a shortcut to blinkfeed?

I only use Nova. So much better than any other home app.

I'm using nova. No added battery drain and I can customize it to my liking. It is not as buttery smooth as the blink feed launcher app drawer though, but overall I prefer nova.

Are Yall using it with blinkfeed? Seems like using 2 launchers would create a lot of battery drain

I'm also on Nova. I use the Zooper widget to add my sense widgets back.

I'm using it "with" Blinkfeed. I don't see how it would create a lot of battery drain though...it's just like any other app.

First you need Zooper Widget Pro, then search for Sense 6 zooper widget. I paid $1 for the widget but works quite well.

Do you lose the Sense 6 gestures when switching to Nova?

I use Nemus Launcher. Very simple, but extremely functional.

Nova Prime. Incredible launcher, smoother and more feature rich than any other I've used. Keeps up with stock Google features and themes well (latest being the OK Google integration). One of the best app purchases I've ever made.

I couldn't agree more. I have tried so many different launchers and nothing compares to Nova Prime. OK google integration is my favorite part. This phone is a beast so you can turn up the animation speed and it won't lag on you.

The ok Google integration not causing any battery drain?

I've not noticed much at all. I still get through my whole day every day without worrying about battery. That's all I care about honestly.

You can try the Xperia-home launcher --> it's a great launcher, fast and powerfull. A lot of custom romm use it by default.
And FTL (Faster Than Light) launcher --> really great too and not discontinued so it'll improve ^^
Until today I've tried holo, adw ex, go launcher.
I think I stick to adw, it has cool animation, 4d drawer and eats an admissible amount of ram.
Go launcher is freaking nice but kills down my phone.
Holo is the fastest I've tried but lacks in customization.

I actually thought Touchwiz was pretty good, my only real issue was with folders on the home screen. I organize my apps in folders instead of using multiple home screens. The problem was is that when I launched an app from one of the folders and then got out of the app the system thought I wanted to rename the folder, Got a little annoying.

I am a little confused when there is talk of launchers because some people talk about replacing Touchwiz with a launcher and I use a launcher called CircleLauncher Lite and still use Touchwiz. I use CircleLauncher Lite because it allows me to place icons on my desktop for different links like my Office icon and when I click on the Office icon a ring opens around the icon with icons linked to programs I use that are office related.
So what is the difference in the launcher I use and the launchers that replace Touchwiz?

There isn't so much use for the S-Pen in chameleon as of now (and i don't think there is any support for it, but that's only a guess for now).
I wouldn't say that it is cool yet, but it reeks of potential.
I followed tsf since before release and it looks alot better now. Chameleon looks nice too. But i just feel launcher developers are charging too much. I mean 10 and 16 bucks ya right . Launchers should have free versions and a pro for like 5 bucks tops...

[Q] Launcher question

I'm on the lookout for a new launcher, maybe.
I'd really like one that shows notification badges (not sure if Xperia does) for all apps (especially K9). Apex only shows notifications for Gmail accounts, and even then I can't seem to get them working recently.
I know that the Tesla Unread plugin shows the notifications on Widget Locker, but does it also work with Nova?
I'm not interested in going back to Go Launcher at all, and I'm not looking at the launchers that are $15.
The ability to customize icons would be nice, but won't affect my decision if something better is out there.
Help me out. I've not used any launchers except Go and Apex for quite some time, so I'm not even sure what's out there and good.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
I'm on Nova using Tesla unread notification. I can confirm that it works on Gmail, Samsung emails, messenger, gTalk & goSMS.

My vote is for nova. Great customization options, you have the option of beta version or stable, and yes, k9 mail is available for the count badges.

I confirm Tesla unread notification with Nova (prime) works perfectly with K-9.
Have fun and enjoy.
I use the Xperia Z Launcher, and I love it. It is pretty amazing, except that when at the home screen, pressing the menu button doesn't let you go to settings. You have to find it in your apps.
That is one little annoyance, but other than that it is a great and customizable launcher.

Nova Launcher on Android 4.4 KitKat?

Hello Geeks!
I'm sure a lot of you have Nova Launcher on your N4s, and if you're like me; you can't wait to get your hands on 4.4 KitKat.
Does anybody out there know if TeslaCoil will have to release a newer version of Nova optimized for 4.4 or will it already be compatible as soon as 4.4 gets rolled out to our devices? I'd rather wait for it to be optimized rather than get 4.4 and be Nova-less for a week or 2.
In addition: my friend Tony just ordered the Nexus 5. will Nova Launcher be compatible with his device right out of the box?
Anybody with info please lemme know. I'm fine with putting 4.4 off for a few weeks until I know FOR SURE that I can have Nova Launcher on top of the new tasty OS.
I don't know the answer however, one thing that sucks for Nova Launcher is that the Google Experience launcher is not open source. That means Nova can't keep that stock launcher look on 4.4.

Nova is based on the AOSP launcher so I don't think that will be helpful. There is still a AOSP launcher in the KitKat code but I don't know if they are maintaining it anymore.

Uhhh because the stock launcher is extremely uncustomizable? Nova can be very simple and look almost exactly like a stock launcher, but the amount of options it has are immense. I'm currently using the Google experience launcher and I really miss nova. Sticking with it for now though.

More customization than stock launcher like the static google search in <4.3, # of rows/columns, icon packs, etc.
Nova is based off AOSP Launcher anyways. So you're practically getting the stock launcher + added goodies. Of course this will be different with 4.4 in terms of the Google Now but I'm sure Nova will implement that someway.
Plus you can add gestures. Like if I swipe up on the phone icon I have it set up to direct dial my gf. Or a swipe up on home page opens app drawer. And you can backup your setup so if you flash Roms you can have your home screen set back up in seconds

I think it will be a little more difficult for custom launchers on 4.4 because of the integration of the launcher and Google now.
I don't see how they could integrate Google now into the left swipe or the "ok Google"command working from all home screens. This link shows my reasoning.

Actually that's one of the reasons why I use custom launchers: To get rid of Google Search, Google Now, and "always on" voice commands.
I don't need these anyway and as a bonus get longer battery life (by completely disabling Google Search).

I would happily use the 4.4 launcher if you could remove the persistent search bar, which does nothing but get in the way. Its seems utterly pointless given that you can open search a number of other ways almost instantly.

I like "Next Launcher". Just a better Launcher with a hell of a lot of possibility's.
I tried Total based on this, and it is pretty amazing. Definitely might be the most customizable I've used, up there with Lightning or something. If anything that's the fault, it's overwhelming. It makes sense though it's well thought out, just daunting.
