[Completed] Sm g730a help please - XDA Assist

I am extremely new to this. I have a Samsung Galaxy S III Mini SM G730A on At&T. I need to unlock it so that I can use a different carriers sim card in it. I have searched and searched this site for answers and I guess I just dont understand. Is rooting the same as unlocking? Also I read somewhere that if the phone was running Android 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 I could unlock by dialing a few numbers in my phone. Unfortunately, my version is running Android 4.2.2. Is there any way to take it back to 4.1.1 or 4.1.2?
I have read the rules and I sorry if these questions have already been answered, but I could not find them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sierra
Oh this is what it says in about device:

Rooting and Unlocking are two different things. Rooting allows you to remove System apps that you can not remove otherwise. It allows you to install other firmwares on your phone. It will not allow you to use other carrier's sim card. You will need to look for older firmware for your phone in order to do so. This thread will help you once you have that firmware. you can pose the question about the firmware in the forum I linked above.

s2 rooting
Hi all, Im totally newbie to this so I start reading a root guide here in order to do it on my phone. After reading I been able to find the firmware I should use but when go to my phone and look at the specs I find that some differ from the ones posted
My config is (by pressing *#1234#):
PDA: I9100XWKF3
PHONE: I9100XXFK1
CSC: I9100OJVKF1
I would like to now if I use the files (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278) under the XWKF3 section it will work for me ?
I want that my phone had Spanish and English language (as now) and want to make sure it will, also would like to know if with the "FOP" file and the "XWKF3 Stock Kernel" it is enough in order to root it ?
Sorry for the long question and please if someone knows or have a similar config and was able to root the device let me know.
Thx in advance.
Wouldn't both these posts be better served in the Samsung galaxy SII forum??

[Completed] About rooting and the correct CF-file

So i have Samsung galaxy s3 LTE (4G) Running with stock and official stuff and such.
Model: GT-I9305
Android: 4.4.4
BuildID: I9305XXUFOA1
I have no experience about rooting whatsoever and decided to give it a go now.
So my question about the CF-file is: Does it matter if the file description shows different "build ID" than my phone does (my phone: I9305XXUFOA1 the file: KTU84P.I9305XXUFNL1)?
Everything else checks out fine (the android version and model)
Thanks!

Hello,
Welcome to XDA.
I'm not understanding your issue. Do you need help rooting or do you need help repairing a failed root to get your device working?
If your phone still works and you want to root it then read the thread linked below and see if it works for you, it works on many of the Note 3 sm N900* models. Don't use it until you have verified that it works, you can ask members there about that.

My phone is working. The attempt to root with kingo just failed. I tried the apk and the pc version.
I need help to root my note 3. It is not listed in the supported devices for cf-auto. As far as I understand the rooting isue I need to download from the page the file for my phone that cf-auto can root it. I'm afraid to root it as N900S. It is diferent to my model. It comes close but still diferent. Sory when I post it in the wrong place.

It's very possible that it will work but you need to ask the users in that thread or in the Q&A forum for that device that I linked you to, members there may be able to tell you if it works or not.

[Completed] Samsung Galaxy Mega GT-I9205 with GT-I9200 Firmware??? Is this possible?

Hello everybody! I would like some help. Could anyone explain me how is this possible. I bought from somebody a Samsung galaxy mega GT-I9205 6.3 inches wich has a GT-I9200 firmware on it. When i turn it on it shows Samsung galaxy mega GT-I9205 but in the menu - about device it says it's GT-I9200. I tried several GT-I9250 firmware versions from sammobile.com using Odin but none of them was working. I also tried some other GT-I9200 versions as well and they also was not working. I added some photo's wich you can find it in My Albums (they are only 4 pic's and it's public so anybody can see them). It is much easier to see what i want to tell and what's the problem. If you need i can give further information or i can make more photo's. I hope somebody could explain me how to fix this, because i can't get any updates from samsung kies or from the device software update option.
The IMEI number is the same on the box with what it's shown in the phone.

[Completed] Odin ROM flash Problems HELP

Hi,
New to the Forum but hoping that someone can help me.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 Active which I purchased off Amazon Unlocked. It is an At&t phone but I am using it in Canada on the Bell Network. I have been unable to get any updates and therefore am still running Kitcat 4.4.2.
I have downloaded the Bell Firmware but Keep Getting the Error Message "Secure Check Fail Aboot" Immediately after each attempt.
I have not been able to find an updated At&t firmware to load and as far as I can tell the Bell Marshmallow Update won't work because My Build version is G870AUCU1A..... Where as the Bell Build Version is G870WVLU1C.......
Is there a way to install this Bell Firmware on my phone ?
