A case with "cups" for the speakers... - Galaxy Tab S Accessories

With the speakers on either side of the tablet in landscape, watching movies and media sounds pretty good. But with a cup of the hand the sound is way better. I'm hoping a company will come out with some sort of case like this.

I know what you mean. Having the speakers on the ends are better than on the back, but nothing beats having them on the front. Samsung had it right with the Nexus 10 and Tab 2 10.1.

On my previous tab 10.1 I added 2 thin plastic strips (2x2 inch) between the book cover and tte tablet and pulled the out when using the speakers.
Measering with my downloaded decibel meter on my galaxy s2 I noticed a 4 db increase by just pulling out the cards on both sides.
Later I covered the with a piece of duct tape and it even sounded better.
although my test was hardly scientific I wondered why book cover producers never had this as an option because it seems to inprove sound quality also.

I saw a stand a year or so back for apple phones that did a similar thing - vaguely remembered is looking like a grammerphone...

They did.

Creaking over time?

Hey all.
First off, I love my note 10.1. It has its issues, like anything else, but it still is the only android tablet with a true wacom digitizer and killer hardware. I've been using my tablet pretty heavily for the last 12 days. The first thing I did when I opened the box was check the build quality. It had absolutely no creaking and only very minor flex on the back panel (pretty rigid considering it's plastic). however lately i've been noticing it's starting to creak as I hold it near the pen silo and on the other metallic edge. I've ordered a case that should be coming soon so this won't be too bothersome, but I have some ideas of why this occurs.
First, I accidently inserted the Spen backwards into the silo and I think this might have wedged the case apart a bit. This did not cause any creaking however. I have a feeling that when writing with your hand weighing down tablet (like any sheet of paper that you write with) the combined pressure/body heat is distorting the frame.
So I'm wondering if any other heavy handwriting users are experiencing this aswell?
lol hit the thanks by mistake......
Anyway try putiing a skinomi skin on the back- i used a brushed metal and- it looks great, still fits in all the cases i use and - NO creaking. I guess it helps stiffin' the back enough to stop it. i did not really have alot of creaking to start..
Who cares if iets creaking. Its the only tablet i can actually draw on.:good:
Yeaaaa they should really redesign the s pen so that it can go in the slot without worrying about if its the right side or not...

Yeah, my tablet was definitely silent at first but over time developed a slight creak. It probably doesn't mean too much hopefully, but it's really sad how much more solid my original Galaxy Tab 10.1 was.
Heck....EVERYthing starts to "creak over time"! Including me.....lol! Wait....that's really not too funny.... :/
Seriously, have been taking more and more notes and have yet to notice. Hopefully the build is string enough to withstand use. Adding a good screen protector that did not interfere with the digitizer was an initial concern for me.

Creaking noise

I recently got a Note 10.1 for me and one for my gf. After a few days I was getting extremely bothered by what I can only explain as creaking sounds when holding the tablet. By creaking I mean like a haunted house, very similar to the plastic sounds of when you grab a keyboard from only one side. My GF's makes zero sounds.
I couldnt take it, so I switched it but this one still makes the sounds. Definitely not as bad but still.
Does any of your tablets make these sounds?
Nope .
jje
No, if you can exchange it for another
.
Have 2, no sounds, bought 1 for my brother and a friend, both as quite a church mice....
i get it on my tablet but i'm not bothered by it so much.
I got a case coming in this weekend, hopefully this will make the noises less noticeable. I'm not sure I want to go through the hassle of exchanging again it but if the noise is not reduced with the case I may do so again.
It just feels like cheap plastic, it's maddening that its such an amazing device yet it has such a crappy outer shell.

Not a fake is it ???

Yup, they are originals bought from Wal Mart. I fixed it by chance. I opened it up, which is fairly easy and noticed that the noise came from the hinges of the back plastic grinding against the slots were they fit in.
I tried fixing it by safely applying double sided tape at different places, after trying different spots the noise started to get worse, so I decided it was time to go to bed and I reassembled the tablet. To my surprise when everything was back in place, the unit felt as solid or even more than my GFs and I could not make it sound regardless of the pressure I applied.
My conclusion is that somehow I worked the hinges of the back plate in a way that it stopped making sounds once I removed the double sided tape.
One thing I'm sure of is that the noise is indeed coming from the backplate hinges.

Lifeproof clone from ebay review

Part 1
I got it for around 22 dollars with free shipping from china on ebay. There are quite a few listings for it.
First, it's obviously a fake. My wife has a real lifeproof iphone5 (yes I live in a split household). Her lifeproof has some rubbery aspects to it, this one's rubber is a bit more stiff and isn't as pliantthis one is made all of plastic. The clip at the bottom is slightly loose, but it has a similiar rubber in-lay to keep the phone dry.
Up close of the front. Came with a sticker over the prior galaxy s3 (lol). You can see I pealed it off to see what it said.
Back
The front of the box opens up with a flap. The middle image is what's on the top flap. The bottom is the main box - a window into what the case looks like.
Opening it, we have the case and this card is behind the case itself. There is a waterproof earplug adapter of course.
Inside of the top aspect of the case.
Everything inside of the box. A small manual.
Top and bottom parts put together.
Placing it in water and putting a couple double shots on top to keep the case down.
After taking off the double shots, it rose to the top, no visible water inside of it.
I found no water after 6-7 minutes minutes of submersion with 2 double shots on top
Fake lifeproof next to Seidio Obex
Part 2 I will report sound quality after using it for a couple days.
Stay tuned! Ask any questions I'll try to answer them for you.
Took about 3 weeks to get it.
As far as the two cases go, I prefer the obex at this point. It's rubber is softer and has a better feel. Although I complain about Obex's easily damaged case and protector, I think this one is no better. I just shouldn't put expensive cases with my keys ever. Although I never had a problem with keys + defender or keys + tpu case / cheap screen protector - so go figure.
For 22 dollars and waiting 3 weeks, it's cheap.
Since I use my phones for work and work tends to get a bit messy, I need splash protection and shock protection, running up stairs, bodily fluids splashing etc. Also the occasional cell phone drop into the urinal or toliet has occured.
My phones are warrantied through verizon, so I don't mind taking the chance with this case. Hopefully, I don't loose a device to water damage lol.
How is the audio quality? The obex i had on my s3 produced horrible audio quality.

Sound is okay, minimally diminished but it's better than the obex. Don't get the vibration type sound interference.
The distance from the screen to the screen protector feels about 2-3 mm's. Doesn't register all touches easily and well, it's a bit further than my wife's life proof.
Cut outs are spot on.
The back of the case has a bit of design. After feeling the case more, there isn't really any rubberized parts. it's just more plastic. Compared to my wife's definitely cheaply made - as to be expected.
Unlike the seidio obex where they use a rubber overlay on the home button - the home button on this lifeproof knockoff is just covered by the screen protector albeit it's black with a circle around it. My wife's lifeproof iphone5 is similiar but has an indention to the home button.
The volume rocker and power buttons are slightly off and take about 2-3 hard pushes to get a response.
Haven't had a chance to take a call with it yet. Will test it later today.
Had a couple phone calls. People can hear me without a problem. Haven't noticed any issues with it.
So in regards to the positives:
1) Sound seems to be basically intact, both microphone/speaker.
2) Waterproof - Case does appear to have the same or similiar waterproofing sponge-like material for the seals.
3) Cheap
Negatives:
1) Cheaply made (lol) compared to the real life proof, no rubber aspects to the external case.
2) Clip at bottom doesn't clip in as tightly as I would want it to, might just be this case though.
3) The Volume rocker is in the right place but needs a harder than usual push on it to work, so you'll push it 2 to 3 times to get it to respond.
4) The Power button is situated feels 0.5 mm to 1 mm below where it should be and also requires harder pushing.
5) Screen protector doesn't come in contact with the phone directly, there is about 2 mm gap, most of the touches register, about 95 percent or so. If you touch something at the edge, it's more lightly it won't register.
What I didn't test:
1) the water test for 1 hour, I did it for about 6-7 minutes like the obex recommended.
2) any drops, the plastic seems a bit brittle and stuff, I imagine that the case would probably crack or break, possibly transmit shock forces directly to the phone - doubt it's 6 feet drop rated as a knock off.
Compared to the Obex:
Prefer the obex, feels better in hand, better screen response. Sound is a little off on the obex, but I do think it offers better protection from a real fall and serious submersions.
Recommendation:
I would recommend this case for anyone who's on a budget <25 dollars and wants something that's going to be basically waterproof.
Otherwise, go find something else - bfree? Obex? Or wait for the real lifeproof to come out.

[4G] 3.5mm Headphone jack issues (Audio skipping/Disconnect)

I got my Moto G a few days ago and I've noticed that when playing audio (regardless of player) the Audio stutters and plays back through the speaker. This only happens when I'm moving/walking around though, not when the player is still (on a desk).
It's nothing to do with the case, and it's not even to do with the sound buffer/app. The reason it keeps quitting playback is because the headphone disconnects for a slight second possibly because of the jack placement and curve in the case. I've tried different headphones and cables and nothing seems to help it.
Anyone else have this issue? I've already rooted, so my Warranty would be void with Motorola directly.
EDIT: Changed my back cover back to the original from the flip cover and I've not noticed it pop out today, It may just be that it wasn't installed properly but I'll post back if I have the problem.
Flip case is the problem.
Alright, I've checked it out a bit more and it's definitely an issues I only experience with the official flip case. I put the flip case back on earlier properly and popped out to the shops with a different set of headphones. The audio stopped about once a minute if the phone was in my pocket.
The two cases are very different from each other (I've attached a crappy image) with the plastic at the top near the headphone jack is much more thicker and is a different width on the flip cover..
The tabs that lock the case in place are also different, and the Flip case has more tabs & thicker tabs while the 4G case has thicker tabs on the edge. The cushion beside the speaker is also bigger on the flip case.
I'm really disappointed in this case, and I certainly won't be buying another, lucky enough I got the case very cheap, so I'm thinking about trying to remove one of the tabs at the top and seeing if it makes any difference.
I've been in contact with Motorola, and I'll need to contact the accessory team, however they suggested the same thing. After sanding down the two tabs at the top the disconnects are much less frequent from my first try. I've removed the tabs a bit more and I'll keep trying it over the next few days and see if I can compare the original Moto G to the 4G.
Any other Moto G 4G/LTE owners experiencing this problem? I've heard there's two different versions of the cases on the market, an older model with the black logo (one I have) and a Silver Motorola logo.

Poetic Revolution Case Tab S 8.4 Review!

So I just received my Poetic Revolution case for the Tab S 8.4 and it's nice!
Unfortunately the pics won't re size when posting to XDA like some other forums, so this is the link to my pics:

I got the white/gray version to match my white tablet, and this thing is a nice heavy duty case that's not TOO bulky, but it's not that thin, either. It seems like it could definitely handle a drop. Although I really haven't ever dropped this tablet in the 1.5 years i've had it, there's always a chance for something happening when I throw it in my bookbag or something and head out.
The case feels very durable, which is awesome. My Tab S had that issue where the ugly gold fake metal sides would squeek and make creaking noises horribly when touched in a certain area, which was just some crappy build quality in the pre-metal days of Samsung back in 2014. It's really annoying, but luckily this case is so nice and tight that pushing in those spots no longer causes the creak, so that's great!
The case has a built in screen protector which isn't too bad. Some reviews I've seen said that it messes with touch sensitivity, but I have my sensitivity set to stock and it seems just fine. Don't know if I'll keep the protector on there since I use a basic one on the screen itself, but if this plastic protector helps guard against fingerprints, then I'll def keep it on there.
The white color looks nice, but I'll have to report back in the long run to see if it stays the same sharp white color or if it yellows out or fades.
There's ports for everything (speakers, IR Blaster, Charger, Headphone jack, micro SD slot) and the cool thing is that they're protected on here with a little flap for each (not the speakers) and the IR blaster has a clear plastic protector over it. Pretty good for durability!
Only negative I have is that the power/volume rockers are a bit hard to push, but then again I don't see how they could get around this since the actual buttons are pretty far recessed inside the case. Overall though, I won't be accidentally hitting volume or power anymore which is good.
Overall, it's an awesome case if you're looking for something to keep your Tab S in good shape, while adding a bit of bulk to the super thin design!
i have both the black on black, and the white...the rockers soften up after some time..it is very durable, and might i suggest getting somthing called lazy hands from amazon ..youll like them,it allows for single hand holding, and you wont drop it
nice! I like it. I actually cut out the built in protector bc i wasn't enjoying it much.. i wouldn't suggest anyone do it, bc it kind of takes away the rigidity of the case a little bit... but it's still nice.
