[Q] Wifi does not work in many custom rom - HTC Desire S

Hello guys,
I have tried many custom roms and wifi just worked on few of them like "ICE DS v 8.0 FINAL", "Balele v2.1 | ICS 4.0.4 | CM9" and etc . My phone is S-On and HTCDev unlocked . I want to use roms like "PACMan" and "Fallout" if I could
I have read "How to fix wifi error" and I should say :
I'm sure about flashing appropriate boot.img after installing.
I use "4EXT_Recovery_v2.2.7_RC5" and there is no "SmartFlash" in its options.
Apps like "WiFix" didn't work.
So Radio, Kernel and HBOOT remain.
Could you help me ?

Are you flashing the boot.img from the rom in fastboot?

Are you s-on or s-off? What is your mid ( fastboot get var all ) ? Does WiFi work on your stock ROM? If so what ROM version is it, if its a ruu can you link to it please.

I didn't get your point (mid ?) If you meant the version of ADT , I use "adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20140321".

Yes, WIFI works on stock ROM, This is the stock rom and It is a RUU :
http://dl4.htc.com/RomCode/Source_and_Binaries/RUU_SAGA_ICS_35_S_HTC_EU_14.01.401.2_20.76.30.0835_3831.19.00.110_275068.zip
WIFI Also works on custom ROMs that are based on this RUU . Like this ROM :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1567715
Also it works on CM9 custom ROMs like this :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2037680

Did you flash a different kernel after rom installation? If so, you have to flash the boot.img from the kernel you installed

Your mid is a device identifier that denotes region specific devices. Some phones are released under the same name but have slight hardware differences based on their intended market. Its possible that your device has a different WiFi card, and needs a different driver. If you perform the Fastboot command I stated above it will give you a lot of info including your mid.
Have you tried to gain s-off up until now? It would rule out any issues with Fastboot flashing the boot.img of roms.

It get stuck.

I installed another ROM and WIFI works .
cm-10-20121116-EXPERIMENTAL-saga-NK111
Android Version = 4.1.2 .
I haven't found the reason of my problem yet . I guess the problem would be related to the kernel versions.
I realized ROMs in CM7, CM9, CM10 and "ICE DS v 8.0 FINAL" don't have problem,
Also ROMs in CM10.1 CM10.2, CM11, Ported ROMs and other ROMs based on ICS official like Fallout have problem.
Thank you all

hmm, this could be why my Wifi also gets stuck at connecting.
it can see the wifi signal, but as soon as i click connect, signal falls and nothing happens.
was working (mostly) on stock rom 2.3.5 Sense 3, did not work on CM11 r2 (devil-kin), or on Mokee open source [both 4.4]
still does not work on 4.2 based aokp redefined v3.
it seems i might have to try one of the roms u mentioned here or go back to stock.
@ktks.m, @teadrinker, @heavy_metal_man
is it possible to flash a working kernel on the current rom i am using ?
i am s-on too, and would need to downgrade my hboot if i want to s-off.
thanks

I couldnt get my wifi working,
but this reverse tethering windows tool helped me.

those who can live with updating while connected to USB, can try this.

I am now using PAC v23 rom and surprisingly, my Wifi started working in this rom !!

Sensation XE RUU flash doesn't work

Hi everybody
I got a HTC Sensation XE from a friend of mine on which were some Custom ROM'S (InsertCoin, CM9, AOKP, AOKP by Frankinstine) flashed and now I want to flash the original HTC ROM because of warranty issues. Phone was unbranded before I got root.
I downloaded the RUU but if I double click it nothing happens.
I tried to flash InsertCoin or another ROM but now I'm hangin' on the bootscreen.
I got the following information:
fastboot getvar -all is showing me this:

Thats a bad download - easy to tell with RUU's because they are exe files so if its a bad download it just doesnt run, try this one:
http://icxperia.com/jonny/RUU/HTC Sensation XE 3.33.401.153/
I'll try it
is there anything else I have to do, to get back the factory-state?
don't work
I downloaded the RUU but same problem as before. RUU don't starts?
what could be the problem?

maybe your not waiting long enough, the RUU doesnt start immediately, its in the background copying all the temporary files to temp folder.
How long?
how long should I wait?
also there is no process running in background.
At least Task-Manager shows any process.

Odexed is fully stock but you cant flash any addons/mods/themes because they wont work with odexed ROMs, only deodexed
odexed is the right
so I can flash odexed. I just want Stock rom, unroot and s-on and then I will send it back to HTC.
is this right?

you cant S-ON with an unsigned hboot (juopunut or revolutionary hboots) as they will cause brick
what now?
I flashed the odexed Stock ROM and it is running.
for warranty issues I have to do s-on, unroot, stock recovery and Stock ROM, haven't I?
what should I do now?
just downgrade the base version, install ginger bread rom and then try flashing stock ruu. worked for me.
how?
and how does this work. do you get some links to downloads and guides for me?

[Q] Stuck at HTC logo after failed stock update

Heyy, so i was wondering if yous could help me. I have a stock HTC Sensation EU, t-mobile version, which I had updated to the latest version (4.0.3 I think). During the upgrade-process something went wrong and now it doesn't go past the HTC logo. S-ON. When in Hboot it shows no found something.img. What is the way to fix this?
If possible I'd like to root it as well and use the Cyanogenmod.

So it worked, but it didn't. I managed to install a custom rom, but after 10 seconds (if it even was that much), the system crashes and reboots, only to do the same thing again.
I used a RUU as well but I got a signing error (132) when using the RUU. I then tried installing the RUU through fastboot and I got further. I did however got the error saying the CID wasn't matching. In the .txt file from the zip I had added my CID, So I thought it had to work.
There is no official rom for my cid (T-MOB003) unfortunately.
This is starting to give me a headache

all: Done!
Since my cidnum is not in the RUU, (and there isn't a RUU for my cid) I'll have to add it according to the guide. I'll get to that later. hboot version to install and version-main are both higher than currently installed, so that shouldn't be an issue.
My phone is S-ON, but unlocked so I'll have to relock it again. Followed instructions and device is *** RELOCKED ***. Displays, however, a security warning. I'll now proceed with the installation by executing the exe. If I'm right I should see an error.
Error: Customer ID incorrect, as expected. I'll now try to install manually.
Since my CID is different I'll change it in the .zip. 7z didn't allow me to change it in the archive itself so I've extracted the archive, changed android-info.txt to:
Code:
modelid: PG5813000
cidnum: HTC__001
cidnum: HTC__E11
cidnum: HTC__N34
cidnum: HTC__203
cidnum: HTC__102
cidnum: HTC__405
cidnum: HTC__Y13
cidnum: HTC__A07
cidnum: HTC__304
cidnum: HTC__032
cidnum: HTC__016
cidnum: T-MOB003
mainver: 3.32.401.5
hbootpreupdate:12
DelCache:1
Note: When pasting this my CID was placed on the same line as mainver. Inserted an enter and repasted in android-info.txt.
What I did as well was unlock the bootloader again, changed recovery to the file inside the rom.zip, and relocked the bootloader. I read this was a fix for the problem.

Nope. I gave up fot the day because I couldn't het the PG58IMG flashed. It didn't have an effect in hboot so I tried using fastboot but i got an unknown error. The tries installing ViperS 2.0, which succeeded. On boot, however, the system crashed and rebooted automatically, just like the other rom's i've tried.

Flashed it using Cwm, first did a full wipe and it installed fine. It then booted en got to a black screen and rebooted. Wiping Dalvik cache + /cache didn't work as a solution.
Same thing as any other .zip I've installed through recovery.

[Resolved] Problems updating X920d Android 4.3 version 3.15.707.4 from 2.33.707.3

Resolved!
Apparently it was due to the fact that I installed Xposed Framework that causes the update process to fail.
I try to manually update the OTA.zip via stock recovery and found out that the process stopped at
"assert failed apply_patch_check( /system/bin/app_process."
Click to collapse
Further checks showed that Xposed replaced the app_process file and causes it to fail checksum. I then copied /system/bin/app_process.orig back to /system/bin/app_process.
After that, the update was a breeze. The recovery used was from 3.15.707.4 (extracted from OTA.zip).
I've also S-OFF and Super-CID during my testing process.
If your update process stops after 25%, usually some checksum error has happened. Use manual update to determine the error message.

I'm having a problem updating my Butterfly to Android 4.3 from 4.2.2
My current firmware is 2.33.707.3 and the upgrade version is 3.15.707.4.
On my current phone, I have unlock my bootloader, flash recovery to TWRP 2.6.3.0 as well as rooted it. Due to inexperience, I did not backup my original recovery.
As per gleamed from this forum, I've tried to flash recovery from other stock ROM to proceed with the OTA update.
Steps taken:
Clicked Install now on the OTA message
Phone reboots to recovery
Phone icon with Green exclamation mark appears
Bottom part blue progress bar appears
Upon 30 to 40% progress, the screen changes to Red exclamation mark and update is stopped.
Edit: Did a Factory reset, problem remains.
I've tried the following recovery from other stock ROM without success.
Recovery from 3.15.707.4 (extracted OTA zip in phone's Download folder)
Recovery from 1.19.707.1 (extracted from DLXB1_U_JB_45_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.19.707.1_V0.0)
Recovery from 2.28.709.2 (extracted from OTA_DLXB1_U_JB_50_S_hTC_Asia_TW_2.28.709.2-1.18.709.3)
Recovery from 1.12.707.1
Recovery from 2.33 (from @Bassie39's OTA collection)
Recovery from 2.28.709.3
I've searched high and low for stock Recovery from 2.33.707.3 but unable to locate it.
Any tips or suggestion apart from S-OFF and update firmware, PL99img.zip update via bootloader, look in the OTA collection?

@bluheart, How do I go from S-OFF to update my OTA? Is Rumrunner better?
Any help or advice would be very appreciated.
Sent from my HTC Butterfly using Tapatalk
Firewater or Rumrunner are equally effective.
I liked Firewater as its very simple to use.
What's the next step after having S-Off?

Super cid
Sent from my HTC Butterfly s using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
After supercid flash the TW (Taiwan) firmware not the WWE (World Wide Edition) so that you get faster updates as this is a Taiwanese company. WWE gets updates a lot later (2-4 months later) so think about that.

Yes, This means I have to change the CID to HTC__621? But would this affect my Carrier settings?

No, I have done this with my old Butterfly without any bad effects or signal problems.

Firewater didn't work. Instead I used Rumrunner.
Hope things worked out, and also I hope you took my advice and switched to Taiwan RUU.
You don't have to change CID if you are supercid which is 11111 something like that, you can install any RUU.

I'm trying to find a way to install the Taiwanese RUU on my phone. Looking around this forum but some of the instructions are contradictory.
Any help or useful links to share?

[Q] SIM Unlock Code Not Working

Hi, I got the SIM unlock code from my carrier for my HTC One S but it doesn't appear to work. It's also a lot shorter than the code I used on my Xperia Z1 (same carrier) but they say that it's supposed to be valid.
My HTC One S has the bootloader unlocked and CyanogenMod 10.2 installed on it. Could not having a locked bootloader and stock ROM be the reason the unlock code doesn't work?
Thanks!

You probably need the non modified stock firmware installed.
BTW you can also unlock it for FREE
Well, I did get the code for free
Yeah, I've been trying to restore everything to stock to find out but I'm having problems with that also. Perhaps I'll try the link you posted to verify the code. Maybe it's slightly different. Thanks!
Well, the code is the same, guess it just won't unlock without being stock ROM or something and I can't get it back to stock

Why can't you get it back to stock?
Any of the guides I follow don't seem to work. I relock the bootloader but then I can't seem to apply the matching RUU for the phone. What looks like the matching one (hboot and radio) is a ZIP file (OTA_Ville_U_JB_45_S_TELUS_WWE_3.16.661.4_1.13.50.05.31_10.30.50.08L_release_307532nohrvy5j6i2o2i8i.zip) and I'm not sure how to apply it. The exe RUU versions don't work either because, I'm assuming, they don't match my hboot and radio. I feel like a pretty competent guy when it comes to rooting and imaging Android devices but this just isn't working for me Thanks for your help.

Flash Viper 2.2 as sense base stock rom.
Use rumrunner to gain S-OFF
Flash any RUU you like
Thanks! I'll give that a try. I read you need SuperCID for S-OFF, does rumrunner do that for you?

Rumrunner will get you S-OFF. Then you can change the CID.
Perhaps you know, I'm getting this when I try to image that Viper ROM.

Try to first flash the included boot.img before flashing Viper 2.1.0
or try try Viper 3
You need any sense based rom to get S-OFF
Ok, so, I guess I missed the part of installing Viper where it says to have TWRP and not ClockworkMod recovery >_<
Got TWRP on there, was able to flash Viper 2.1 EASILY. And it unlocked like a charm. THANKS!! Didn't have to get S-OFF for the unlock. What ROM is the best for the One S in your humble opinion? Should I still get S-OFF?

S-OFF means you can flash any stock RUU e.g unbranded and flash any radio version e.g. 1.20 and the kernel (boot.img) get flashed with the rom via recovery and has not to be flashed by fastboot command.
I actually use Candy 5 v1.5.0 but I can't say what fits your needs best
Does Candy have decent battery life? What is your general experience with it? I really want to put Lollipop on this phone
Also, do you have a good tutorial to remove the red Dev warning on boot?

Battery performance is very good for me with Candy 5. I use my phone mainy for messaging and making calls (Its a phone lol). I can't say how long last the battery when you play games or surf the web heavily. For me the battery easy lasts two days.
For getting rid of the red warning you can flash a modded HBoot which can be found HERE. Make sure you use the same version number that is actually installed on your phone but "modded"

Hmmm. I have 2.15 but I seem to be getting an error during the flash: FAILED (remote: 41 model id check fail)
Is that the variance in model that you mentioned earlier?

Seems so And I don't know how to solve it for PJ4011000. May be you can ask or look in the thread if somebody has successfully done it for your model. You probably can edit the flashable file, but I you should NOT try it, if you not exactly know how.
