I, ve bought a note pro from an importer (didn't realise at the time), it is regionalised for china. I have changed the keyboard settings to english but sometimes in certain apps the keyboard opens up in Chinese. I mostly use swiftkey but would liks to sort this issue out. The device is rooted so can i replace the keyboard with a western version or change the region some how?
Grateful for any advice here. Ive never rooted a device before so dont know what the possibilities are now.

This might be something that jockyw2001 understands. I have a Kaiser that was originally traditional chinese. I updated it to the latest WM6.1 WWE English ROM, but I'm finding some strange behavior.
For example, I want to install CEStar Chinese Input and Display. The problem I ran into is an error message on install that says CEStar is already installed and that I should remove it before re-installing it. While I need to use mainly english, I still get Chinese email, SMS and even use Papago in traditional chinese.
Not sure what is going on here. I definitely cannot display Chinese characters (they all show up as blocks on my phone) but I can't instlal CEStar either. If someone kneows what is going on, please let me know.

hi mikelim i have bought a kaiser that was originally a simplified chinese n ive changed it to english version n it seem have no problem at all but when i have istall the CEStar Chinese Input and Display it sometimes hang n i must soft reset it n not just that sometimes using keyboard it have a lag (freeze for 2 or 3 second) but maybe you have to try to install a ROM RUU_Kaiser_HK_WWE_1.82.721.1_radio_sign_22.51.88.13_1.27.15.32R2_Ship that work fine on me but still the CEstar won't work very smooth ...
Hi, I would like to ask if anyone knows if it is possible to update the transformer firmware manually with the files of a different region?
The reason I am asking is that I got my Transformer in Japan, and the update to honeycomb 3.1 is not released here yet. (its still 3.0)
Can I use the US, or WW firmware file to update without any problems?
I'm a little worried about losing functionality with the dock keyboard, since the layout for the Japanese model is a little different (different key-mapping).
Has anyone tried to do this?

yeah I really need to know this too. I love this tablet but the browser crashes alot and the keyboard is laggy plus the video is horrible and staggered both on youtube and from the memory so I'm hoping the update will fix this but for some reason Japan hasn't gotten the update which is driving me crazy

You can try PRIME 1.5 version, It's more optimized than the stocks firmware. But other firmware should works fine.

I don't know anything about custom roms. I read the post that you linked to. But, I don't 100% understand what the point of this rom is..? Why use it instead of the stock?
Also, am I likely to have issues with the keyboard layout if I install this? And what happens to the pre-installed apps (like polaris office etc)?
You can read the change logs at there. With PRIME 1.5, you will have root access, which allow you access/modify/remove stocks apps you don't wan't, and system files etc..and not limited as the stocks firmware.
Keyboard layout should works fine, you can always change keyboard layout in the settings.
All pre-installed apps are still there.
Hi guys! I've got the same problem: my EEE Pad is from Deutschland (Build number: HRI66.DE_epad-8.2.3.13-20110511) and THE ONLY language is Deutcsh (no other languages are available in the menu). MoreLocale doesn't really help.
Cause I don't know Deutsch at all I wonder if it's possible to change firmware for US/WW/CN or anything else that would have several languages to choose from.
And what I have to do for that.
Installing a foreign SKU will void your warranty, that's for sure.

I just got this tablet from newegg, now i do have some questions and hopefully someone can help me...I read somewhere that this tablet does not bring the market and someone just replied with it comes rooted...
is this tablet rooted already. and if so what roms could i run in it..
also about the market , can anyone verify this and if so, how would i go about getting the market ....

This is nothing but a rebranded momo9. I followed the 1 hour youtube video, by TabletRepublic and now i have a fully unlocked ICS 4.0.3 tablet with full market. Note this tablet has other names, Skytek Skypad alpha2, you can find a lot of accessories on amazon under this name, like the carrying case. Pay attention to the camera resolution (.3MP, 1.3MP, 2.0MP) since there are different roms. I purchased mine at Fry's and has the 1.3mp camera.
When the reboot comes up the characters will be in chinese! Don't worry navigate to the setting menu and just under security (has the lock symbol) is input and language, choose english and the tablet will switch to english, suggest downloading the ICS keyboard. Also disable or remove the native chinese apps. Other then that you have a fully functioning ICS table. Thank you tablet republic and Ameridan's.

whenever i try typing there is the annoying chinese langiuage input.,
i go to settings - language and inputs but the "baidu" is grayed out and i cant uninstall it

You need to install another keyboard or input method before you can remove Baidu input method.
Under normal circumstances Android keyboard should be built in, so you can always revert to it.
But it seems that you're not the case.
is there no app for facebook that thismodelcan take?
Hi. My Mate 9 finally arrived yesterday! I bought the Chinese version. Even though I have chosen English as the devices language, there are several apps that still use Chinese characters, regardless of the set language, like the one for internet and the Dialler. While my long term plan is to use an International rom I probably won't try that till I get the bootloader unlocked, which may be a few weeks. Can any of the apps that use Chinese characters be set to use English? If not is it possible to replace, for example, the internet app with one from the international phone. Perhaps it would default to the language the device is set to. Of course the obvious thing to do is get an app from play store but I thought it interesting to try to get as much of the phone working in English. Thanks!
