[Q] i5s replica can i remove stock launcher? - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys i recently bought an i5s replica phone mtk6572, but the default launcher they have put is kinda laggy, so i did install iLauncher which segnificantly improved the performance. My question is - is it possible to delete the default launcher they installed and also if not how can i make the notification bar transperent when using iLauncher. When im using the default launcher the notification bar is transperent, but when i use iLauncher it's not. The jpeg from homescreen is with iLauncher (not transperent noty bar). The jpeg from app manager is for the default launcher!

You can disable the default laucher in the app properties (2nd image) if you don't like/use it . If your phone is rooted then you can delete the launcher from system and also can use xposed modules to make the status bar transparent.

I don't have the option to disable it (its gray), but i can force stop it. Does this going to make any difference?

If you are currently using the stock launcher you can't disable it. First install any desired launcher and then disable stock launcher .

I did that - nothing happens. My whole point is to make that gray status bar transperent, because it really annoys me, but i guess that would not be possible without rooting my phone and installing a custom rom right?

Yes you must root your device to make status bar transparent or to install any custom rom .

You can easily delete default launcher
but you will need two things
1] rooted phone
2] replacement launcher
first root your phone, than install another launcher , whatever you want i will suggest solo launcher.
Then install an app Root App Delete.
Now delete the stock launcher , but before that set the new launcher as default.
: hope you dont brick your phone , though this is tested.

3D Drawer Settings

Hi Guys.
I just rooted my Nexus S and installed CyanogenMod 7 (Stable). Everything is working fine but I have one possibly stupid question to ask.
Before when I had stock Android the app drawer had a 3D effect which is now gone. I have looked through both the Cyanogenmod settings and the ADW Launcher settings and I cant seem to find a way to enable it.
If someone could point me in the right direction I would be thankful.
Menu -> Settings -> ADW Launcher -> (I use ADW EX so it might appear different) UI Settings -> Drawer Settings -> App Drawer style
The ADW Launcher in CM7 is different from ADW EX and ADW Free on the market.
also launcher pro has the 3d app drawer effect, and its now working perfect on cyan 7. but to answer your question, cyan 7 comes wtih ADW lanucher, not the stock launcher. so ADW prob has to turn on that setting and it will work...or use launcher pro. or push the stock launcher back to your phone.
Thanks. I downloaded ADW Launcher EX from the Marketplace since that feature wasn't available in the Cyanogenmod version.

How would you go about pushing the stock launcher? As I also am running cm7 but want the stock launcher.
Thanks in advance.

get launcher2.apk and put it in /data/app or /system/app/ via adb / file manager
or find frank707's mod that removes adw and puts stock launcher, but you lose a lot of customization

remove icon labels/names?

Is there an App or widget that would allow me to remove icon labels/names?
Haven't rooted yet so just running a stock Rom.
you can use desktop visualizer and keep shortcuts of your desired apps on the homescreen and you can remove the labels/names .....
In 3rd party launchers like ADW and Launcher Pro the option to hide app labels is there.
But if you really want to keep stock launcher I guess you could use Desktop. Visualizer to add a shortcut to the app and clear the label then use the icon from that app but it comes out a bit stretched out, unless you have custom icons in a higher resolution.

Bettercut will do that for you too.
GO Launcher EX has this option as well.

Thanks for the replies.
Go Launcher works perfectly.

How to change icons on Nexus S?

Hello,
I rooted my nexus s and was wondering how do I change the Icons on them? Do I have to download a ROM for a custom theme? Also I downloaded a icon package which I really like, was wondering if its possible to use them?
adw ex launcher lets you change your icons
or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389071
Use a launcher that allows you to change the icons. If you're on ICS, use Nova Launcher. If not, ADW, Launcher Pro and GO Launcher all let you customize icons.
Keep in mind though, that for apps the icons are only changed in the homescreen, but not in the drawer.
That is true for all except GO!Launcher. It changes app icons in App Drawer. Otherwise you're right those are all great options. You can however change the icon in a system folder somehow... I've seen a tutorial on the forums somewhere, but it takes work.

Notification count on icons ?

I have OPO Indian with stock ROM, can anyone please let me if we can have notification count on the icons when the icons have something to notify.
Ex:- in Samsung devices, when we have any Whatsapp message unread, the whatsapp icon says "1" or "2" on the top of icon. I know it is possible with Nova Launcher, but I need to stick to default stock launcher, So if anyone have any idea how to achieve this ?
Thanks a lot everyone for being in OPO family...
You usually need to have a custom launcher for this feature. Nova has it, but I believe it's the paid version.

I use smart launcher pro and works well. Only issue is sometimes after a reboot the colour OS launcher kicks in as default.

Make sure you go into app management and default apps and select your preffered launcher as default. IMO, it's actually a better way to do it than other phones where you just start the launcher and wait for the OS to ask which one is to be default.
I also use Smart Launcher Pro on both my phones, and my wife's. I regularly try different launchers but always come back to SL Pro. It's elegantly simple but hiding some pretty good customisation tweaks and that app drawer is the best I've ever seen.

I installed Ubuntu theme as that is how to get the nicer icons in the app drawer tabs.

In my Find 7 I also have the MIUI Icon pack applied to homescreen and app grid.

For a nice clock I have Digital Clock Widget Xperia.

Set a nice wallpaper (I have a bright Lollipop one).
The phone looks stylish and well integrated with theming, like it came that way from Oppo.
If you must use the ColorOS launcher, you can install an app drawer app from Google Play instead of having to sort through pages of homescreens with a bunch of icons and folders.
I have this one in my oppo Find 7 for the rare times when I use the ColorOS launcher.

Simple, small and has barebones permission needs.
