OPO screen seems to be so sensitive and would unlock my phone in my pocket. The phone will then try to call some one unexpectedly.
Is there anything in CM to protect this. Previous experience in Sony or MIUI phones, the ambient sesnor is checked so that the screen don't get unlocked. Does CM have this feature?
It is probably due to offscreen gestures. If you are not using it, disable them.

they updated them to use the proximity sensor. they announced it today. itll show up in the next update.
Can you link me to where you learned that?

I'm not sure we are talking about the same issue. I turned off the gestures already.

Just got my Note 10.1 32G Wifi (N8013) a week ago. I just noticed a minor issue while using it last night, and now that I know about it, it bugs me.
While using the stock Internet browser or gReader, for example (or really anything, it doesn't matter), when I use my finger to slowly scroll the page up or down, I see something strange. The screen doesn't always track 1:1 with my finger. It's hard to explain. When I move my finger slowly across the screen, every inch or so, the screen will lag behind my finger just ever so slightly, and when I move my finger just a bit more, the tracking will catch up to where it's supposed to be. And then if I move my finger about another inch, the same thing happens again, repeat. You really only notice it if you're moving your finger on the screen slowly.
The interesting thing is, I don't see this issue with the S-Pen. The S-Pen always tracks 1:1, even when moving it very slowly across the screen.
I downloaded the Multitouch Test app from Google Play, and you can really notice it with that app as well. The direction isn't just up and down, it's also side to side.
I don't have the charger plugged in (I read about that issue). I'm on the rooted/deodexed 4.1.2 ROM with only the Unlimite MultiWindow Apps mod.
Anybody else seeing this?
Yep. Noticed that too. Maybe your hands are very dry. Try to use more pressure. Works for me.

Works perfectly for me too. No difference finger or spen, fast or slow, 100% 1:1 tracking.
Been using stock JB 4.1.2 and multi window apk on my N8000 since release mid December and 4.1.1 since early November.

I think you're on the right track. My fingers are very dry and pushing harder on the screen definitely helps. Thanks.
I have just broken my phone screen, please feel my pain.
Is there a way to over-ride the 'Touch screen disabled' prompt? I've already missed two calls fumbling for buttons.
Regards.

Hi Mostar088,
I am in the UK. I am sure you didn't mean to rub salt into the wound of my 3 month 20 day (when the screen broke) old phone [emoji22] .
I had left the original screen protector on, just as well as this is now holding the screen together.
Choice I have now is to buy a replacement screen, and fit it myself, or stump £150 for someone else to repair. The taredowns I've seen make me think that the Mate 9 is more fiddly than a Nexus 5, which I have replaced a screen on.
My assumption here is Huawei will be the slowest and most expensive option. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
To answer my original question, should anyone else be asking the same, go to Setting > Smart Assistance > Touch-disabled mode.
I didn't think I had set this previously, and this 'feature' only appeared when the screen cracked. The bulk of the screen damage is just under the speaker grill and over the proximity sensor. The damage must now be confusing the sensor.

Just got my pixel 2 today. Not 100% impressed. So much I did with the Moto that I cant on the pixel. Like I cannot figure out how to turn off the screen with the fingerprint scanner. Is this not an option? Anyone figure out how to do this? Thanks.

No it's not an option. Your pixel will take damm better pictures than your Moto though!

It's not a feature unfortunately. But I did see that you can turn on a feature to swipe away notifications by swiping down on the fingerprint scanner.

Yeah, I didn't think so. Thanks for the confirmation. Also no double tap for the screen off (can set an on gesture, but it interferes with the fingerprint then) unless you use Nova launcher or such to fake it.
After playing with it for a few hours, it's going back. It doesn't play nice with Nova launcher shortcuts. The fingerprint button feature sucks... I really hate using the power button. The Google launchers at a glance feature is somewhere between gimped and flat out busted. (AND you can't even remove it).
I guess I just miss all of the features I got with the g5+. I can't mimic what I had with any complete success. The camera is subpar, yeah. But I'll find something closer to my taste eventually. I might wait for the LG g7, which will at least have double tap for the screen. Also likely an OLED display. I do my own stock Nova thing to any photos i get anyway.

I didn't even really look at the Pixel launcher. Went straight to Nova Launcher as I have for every phone for a couple years. There is little that you can't do with it, including Google Now (which I didn't particularly like). That plus an app drawer manager which gives me a lot more folder management than plain Oreo does (Jina App Drawers).
This for me has been one of the best phones I've ever touched. Fast, smooth good display, easy to use and comfortable.
BTW, I don't use tap for turning the screen on, I looked at it, but have never used it before.
Yeah, the lack of customize-able features on the Pixel is what makes me hesitant to upgrade from my Honor 8. It's the first phone I've been able to use without rooting due to all the stock customization that is built in. I'm not sure these mostly under the hood android updates and slightly better camera are enough to overcome the daily disappointment of bone stock android.
I didn't like not being able to knock off for screen off either, so I downloaded an app called custom navbar buttons. with this app, i'm able to swap the back button to the right (where it should be, damnit!) and then put a small power button on the right next to it that can shut the screen off anywhere. love it.

Fingerprint Swipes lets you set swipe actions including lockscreen. I can't post the link, but it is in the Play Store by that name.

Is there any way to fix these? The phones were not used for months and suddenly these appeared.
To that does not look like burn in at all I would recommend you try test code *#0*#(will not work on Verizon) and check the color tests to see what it looks like in rgb. Also are you with in warranty on that phone?
Screen looks like it's broken. Definitely not a burn-in. A dead pixel would be clearly visible, but you seem to have a long line of them.
Seems that line in your screen doesn't work anymore.

Have you dropped your phone recently?
So we get the screen - protector pre-installed, and this is my 1st ever fingerprint ( under the skin ) phone
I cannot make it work perfectly as well
it takes for it to recognize it for registration
I even followed the tip where I make 2 fingerprints of the same thumb
I look at videos where ppl are touching it gently
I have to press hard if it works but most times, it doesnt recognize and I have to sorta try few angles beofe I do this
Is it because of screen protector?
Any help, tips please and if anyone can show me how their works coz I swear I am having issues
this is my 3rd sammy with the screen scanner...they work so so with the factory screen protector (this one has been the best out of s10 plus, note 10 plus) but they work way better if you remove it.
of course then your screen is vulnerable but that's the choice pretty much.
im using my note 9 today and much prefer the scanner on the back still lol
Finger print is a hit or miss for me and I don't have a screen protector ??*

It works very well for me. Not ideal but really well with the built-in screen protector.
There is one hack to make biometrics work faster - go to Optimise Battery Usage permissions and untick the com.samsung.android.biometrics entry. This will allow biometrics service to always work and will improve biometrics response time greatly.
It works, like on n10 before it. Not as good and fast as one on one plus 8 pro which I had before but it works. Best advice is to buy gearfit 2 pro or some from active watches and make it as a trusted device

Didn't feel a difference from this.
UK, Sim free handset, already tried the register the same finger twice and wasn't helping. Now got one finger four times but still the same issue. It fails so often that sometimes it goes over the 5 allowable attempts, or is just very slow, and also needs a harder press that my previous Notes.
It still has factory screen protector on.
Any suggestions?
And how do you find the "Optimise Battery Usage permissions and untick the com.samsung.android.biometrics"
Thanks.
Try to learn to use face unlock (I'm on same path jow)...fp on S and N samsung devices is terrable! I had one plus 8 pro one month and after optical reader, this ultrasonic is disaster [emoji849]

Working great on S20U and N20U here
Register same fingerprint 2-3 times
Disable Battery optimisation for Biometrics
Disable Unlock Animation
Enable Increase Touch Sensitivity
Both phones unlock with FP with hardly even a touch
Mby if you work in office and have perfect hands (fingers). For people that works at a construction yard this is a no go (have s20 and n20 ultra 5g right now with me)!

Well yea, if your fingerprints are a mess then a fingerprint reader isn't going to read them very well, kinda obvious?
