Ultimate Shield - Brilliant tempered glass - Xperia Z1 Compact Accessories

Sits a little proud (on top of the Sony pre-installed protector) but it at last makes my phone feel premium. It feels just like the Gorilla glass on my Nexus 4 used to, there is no loss of sensitivity and the oleophobic coating works as well as the Nexus S. I have the full (side and rear) protection and have ditched my official bumper. The phone is so much nicer to look at and to hold, but is probably a little more vulnerable.
The buttons are properly usable again and it feels smaller and lighter in hand.
No regrets, I haven't properly dropped it yet but I love the phone again, it's not just another phone in a bumper case.

Exspect Desire HD silicone case review

I bought myself the Exspect Desire HD case, installed the screen protector and took some pictures. Here is a little "review" of the case.
First of all, the screen protector. I have to say, this is one of the best screen protectors I have tested, and I have had a few for different devices. Like most screen protectors, it is very clear, you do not even notice that it is there. It is easy to apply, and if something goes wrong (like I had some dust under it), you can just peel it off and try again. The best thing about it is that it is not sticky. For example ZAGG screen protectors feel sticky, and you cannot slide your finger that easily on them. This screen protector actually makes the screen more slippery!
Then to the case. The first thing I noticed is that it has quite bad design for the camera. Normally in DHD the camera protrudes quite a bit, but this one makes it even worse. The silicone has a cheapo -looking texture, and the protruding bit is very flimsy. I actually cut it down with scissors, and finished the cutting with some sand paper.
The case itself is not bad, it fits around the DHD very well. It does not make the device bulkier, so it is ideal for users who want to keep their phone slim. The rubbery silicone gathers quite much dust, and it is not very easy to clean. It is sticky, which makes the phone harder to pull out of a pocket. I think that this applies to most cases, so it is not really Exspect specific problem. The quality of the silicone is very good.
All in all I like the case, and I will start using it daily instead of my PO 520 leather case (at least for a while). I also bought the Otterbox case, and if this review gets feedback, I will probably post another review about it when I get it.
Cheers for this.
I'm certainly interested in the Otterbox review if you do it.
That Exspect does have a lot of dust yeah. That would put me off I think, but I'd like to see one anyway.

i agree with everything apart from this section:
- i like how it extends further than the lens, when i put it on a desk, i protects the lens
- the silicone is actually very high quality and i think it is very good, obviously you;ve never gotten a cheap unbranded silicone case from ebay
Yeah, and I have to say, my standards tend to be quite high
The silicone itself is very nice, but the block texture puts me off.
Would be interesting to see how well the screen protector performs. I managed to get a couple of different makes for a couple of iPhone users - noticed they showed finger prints quite badly
The screen protector does show finger prints, but I would take the additional slipperyness over naked screen any day.

I have the expect housing. It does collect dust nothing to worry about really. The case for the price is excellent.
Personally I don't like using screen protectors. I think they show up all sorts of scratches and marks. I've not used one since release day and there's not a mark in my screen. I had my Hero for 15 months with no screen protector and not a mark on it when I sold it.

Thanks for the review. I have one on order, it should be here this week. I am currently using case mate silicon case which looks exactly the same as the exspect without the textured design. I ordered yhe exspect because it looks like its going to protect the camera because of the protruding surround which you didnt like. Well see how I get on when it arrives. Im also interested with otterbox but it looks bulky.
Hi, I also own one of these cases and i'm very happy with it. The screen protector is excellent, it picks up prints same as any other SP, but it's the best one i've had in terms of screen response and usability.
All in all, it's one of the better phone cases i've ever used and the screen protector that comes with it is excellent. Would recommend.
I got mine today and I am very disappointed with this case. It seems like the manufacturers focused on presentation and packaging but the actual product is crap. First its a bit loose, second the front of the case, the bit that goes around the screen does not grip properly because it barely goes around the screen not like the casemate silicon case. The only thing I like is the camera surround protetcs the camera well. I cant comment on the screen protector as I havent used it yet. Don't buy this product.
Edit:
Also forgot to say the buttons are not aligned properly and are difficult to press.
Edit 2:
I find this case easy to slip in and out of my pocket compared to the casemate safe skin:
http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/ph...essories/buy/CASEMATE-DESIRE-HD-SAFE-SKIN-BLA
Mine fits well, but it is not exactly tight. The buttons in my case are properly aligned, and it is easy to operate the phone. I think that the case comes off the phone a bit too easily, though.

Skinomi TechSkin Review [Pics]

I got my TechSkin in the mail today, and just installed it.
My first impressions:
Design/Fit:
---------------------------
This Skinomi was designed for the Nexus 4, and it fits *perfectly*. The cutouts for the proximity sensor, front camera and earpiece are 100% accurate. The only thing that I would note is that the screen protector is about 0.3mm short on both the left side and the bottom, but that's too insignificant to have any affect on usability. Other than that, there aren't any major problems with the design.
Feel:
----------------------------
This thing sure is plasticy. It's nowhere near as smooth as glass, but that's to be expected of screen protectors. However, this screen protector is quite grippy when dry. This might prove to be a problem for gamers. I'll try playing Modern Combat 4 later, and I'll update the review accordingly depending on how my fingers feel. The Skinomi is definitely smooth enough for normal use, but it still can't compare with the super-smooth Gorilla Glass that it's designed to protect.
Look:
----------------------------
No Orange Peel! This protector is great. This has barely any orange peel effect at all, unlike the Zagg InvisibleShield protectors which I have for my Galaxy Nexus and my iPad.The screen protector is smooth and conforms to the curved edges of the screen very well. A word of warning for potential buyers: Getting the screen protector to stick properly onto the curved glass requires you to press and hold it down to the curve for at least 2 minutes, until the solution dries and it sticks. But once it's stuck, it's stuck for good.
If you have any questions, please ask! If you want more pictures I'll be more than happy to post them.

Update: Back Protector
Design/Fit
---------------
Again, the fit is spot-on. All the cutouts match with the correct spots on the device, and the cutout for the camera is just the right size.
No complaints here.
Feel:
------------------
Same grippyness as the front. I think that this is actually a good thing for the back: The Nexus 4 is a very slippery phone, and having a grippier plastic back should make it harder for the phone to slide off a table or out of my hand.
Installation:
------------------------
WORD OF WARNING: Be careful when installing the back. It's too easy for water from the installation to seep into the speaker hole, and who knows what kind of damage that can cause. I had some water go into the speaker (Not a lot, less than a drop), but still, better safe than sorry.
Update: Pics.
Link to images of the back: http://imgur.com/zUIoC,VLqHA,ScypJ,xfabx
UPDATE: Now that I've started to use the phone with the screen protector, the grippyness of the front screen protector doesn't seem to affect normal usage of the phone. In fact, it feels quite smooth compared to Zagg screen protectors, and I am quite satisfied with the Skinomi overall.
If you are looking for a screen protector for your Nexus 4, I'd recommend the Skinomi TechSkin.
I have had this for a week now. It really takes a few days to completely smooth out and it gets clearer. I don't notice any yellow tint at all. I'm liking it more and more everyday.
I have the carbon fibre tech skin waiting to be installed, normally I hate screen protectors and I'm concerned I will get a load of dust under it, did you guys manage to install it clean? No bubbles?

Did mine in the bathroom with the shower ruining on full hot. The moisture takes the dust out of the air.
Works every time for me. Good luck
I kind of like the grippy feel of it.
The phone felt really slippery before and i've had it slide off tables that were slightly angled but with this on it completely stays in place.
Carbon parts installed fine, I like the back plate but not overly keen with the side pieces, the screen protector.... I need another one I think, it is straight but has loads of streaks in it, going to leave it for a few days as skinomi suggest and see if it clears up...

To add onto the OP's post, I did not have to press down on the front curved glass for the screen protector to stick.
There is a slight orange peel on mine, no biggie.
The fit is really accurate indeed.
I had small bubbles for an entire week before it completely disappeared.
Overall, I recommend this skin to anyone who prefers wet applications.

HISPANICO
Nice setup!
I got a krusell Ekerö wallet for my Z5C yesterday.
Fits perfectly and the quality of the leather is great!
There are slots for the speakers and microphone, which enables you to talk on the phone without having it open and flapping all over your face.
Only wish that it was possible to answer the phone with a physical button, eg. the volume rocker, instead of having to open the case and answer using the screen...
However, I am not a big fan of the placement of the magnetic lock, which consists of two parts one on the top and one on the bottom.
It blocks the power button and makes it kind of akward to operate the powerbutton.
This tempered glass is also perfect fit (identical cutouts as per of OP's suggestion.)

Both items came delivered in 1 and 2 days respectively
this might be off topic, but what good is this tempered glass? In most cases (and I mean like 90%) people break their screens when the device lands on a corner (or the devices edges). So this thick peace of glass on the screen wont help at all, only if your device falls flat on its screen or there is something like stones on the ground and it lands on them (but mostly flat, again).
I just happen to see all this hammering and cutting tests with the glass, which are completely irrelevant for the real world scenarios and I don't understand why people actually use it.

How is the grip on the orzly flexislim case, compared to naked z5c? improved or approx. the same?

It protects against scratches
I just need a tempered glass with the form of a "ring" (empty in the middle). Just to paste it around the camera and lift it from the desk.
Unfortunately it doesn't exist. [emoji24]

It is still very slippery, unfortunately. Probably more grippy material but smoother edges make the overall grippyness a wash.

I dropped my Z3C with the edge first on the metal feet of my office desk , this caused the tempered glass to shatter.
But it took all the impact force leaving the screen with not a mark.
It was just to peel off the pieces of the screen protector and then reapply a new one.

Poetic Revolution case review

I have received this case from poetic to review and have used it for almost 2 days so far and here are my thoughts. This case is rather big, bigger than I'm used to, but not overly large. I can honestly say I am not a fan of rugged cases because they cause to much bulk to the phone.
The case comes in two pieces which completely close the phone and cover the headphone jack as well as the charging port. The case also has a carabiner loop for people who want to clip it on to something, eg belt/backpack. The loop does not interfere with putting the phone in your pocket. The case is still very pocketable. I have actually riden my motorcycle around town with it on my backpack, risky I know, but it held up fine.
Finally this comes with a kick stand which is very sturdy! The phone does not shake or fell unsteady with the phone in portrait or landscape.
Now on to the things that I do not like. This case absolutely cannot be used with a TGSP! I had roughly and 1/8" gap between the screen and the front cover. This made using the phone very frustrating because you have to press very hard in order for the screen to register a touch. I have not been able to test this without a screen protector, but this is the biggest downfall of the phone. The other thing is the back cover of the phone is pretty slippery. The sides have a nice grip but the back is slick and can easily fall out of your hand if not careful.
Overall this case is made very well for those interested in a rugged case who DO NOT use a screen protector.
Thank you for your review. If one was to remove the screen protector from the case, would you say the rest of features are recommendable? I have an Otterbox on my S4 that I did that with , because I didn't want to remove the screen protector from it and it worked great. I actually hate the integrated screen covers because they trap dust and scratch pretty easily.

Funny, works fine on mine with a TGSP installed and the built in screen protector removed. it also worked fine with the built in screen protector attached with my TGSP on still, just had to press a bit more forcefully. No gap.

Armadillo case for Note 9. How is it? Questions for who have it.

So I had the similar Artech 21 case for the Note 5 which is the same people that make the Armadillo Tek case for the Note 9.
I liked the Note 5 case and built in screen protector but I was wondering about the built in screen protector on the Note 9 case since it's curved so the material is different.
Also, has anyone removed the built in screen protector and if so does it cause the phone to be loose in the case?
I'm waiting for more reviews on this case before ordering off Amazon but it looks decent.
How is the protection of the case compared to the Samsung rugged cover
interested in feedback as well.

The case is solid. The screen protector left much to be desired. I removed it easily and the phone still stays solidly in place. It is more protective than the Samsung rugged case but not as slim. I'd feel comfortable dropping it in the armadillo case. Here's a video review I did of it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=px2roiwe7UM
I have the case as well, I honestly bought like 4 different cases for the Note 9 before I got it, and one of them being the Spigen ToughArmor case and the Armadillotek. I have to say just for protection overall, the AT is way better than the Spigen case. It protects the phone more while not being that bulky, it is slightly less comfortable to hold because of the weird design and kickstand on the back, but its way better than essentially the toothpick that's on the back of Spigen cases.
The case itself covers the front of the phone a lot better than the Spigen as well (edges are raised slightly higher, the case actually covers some of the exposed glass around the sensors and the chin of the phone). It is slightly more expensive, but I'd recommend it to anyone who's scared of dropping their phone tbh.
I didn't bother with the built in screen protector, I don't like plastic screen protectors because they're too scratch prone, but it was easy to just punch it out, remove the adhesive, and just use your own glass screen protector.
It's near perfect, but if the back didn't feel a little weird, I'd say it's a perfect case
Yea, the built in screen protectors in these cases like the Armadillo, Supcase, Youmaker, etc. don't seem really good due to the curved screen. When the galaxy had a flat screen it was fine because a different material was used.
The only think I don't like at least on the Supcase, others as well as the Artech 21 case was the port covers. Unlike the Otterbox Defender it seems over time they can crack.
Right now I use the Defender mostly due to the extra big lip and better side protection.
I might go on a case binge and order the Supcase and Youmaker though but I will for sure the punch out the screen protector. I keep nothing in my phone pocket and the lips on these cases are enough I don't have to worry about contact with the ground.
The Samsung rugged case is a very well built case though. Except I prefer something with more girth like the Otterbox Defender. The Defender makes it easier to grip and use spen.
I'm enjoying it so far. I can type and swype jus like normal, no aggravating mistypes and dead spots. Jus yesterday I was noticing that my screen had some fine scratches on it, and I might keep this plastic protector on for a while. As far as the case, I have used some similar in the past and it is very protective. I also like how it connects together. I don't have to worry if it will come apart.

Those marks might not be scratches but just from the spen. Just like on a naked screen you will notice the spen leaves marks. All you need to do is just wipe it off.
Either way, the screen protectors suck on these cases. Better off just popping them off and go bare. Just don't put keys in your pocket with the phone.
I ripped off the plastic screen protector and installed an edge-to-edge tempered glass one. It works great on me.
I had to rip the plastic cover off as well.

So the built in screen protector isn't really that good?
It does protect the screen. But the edges don't hug the screen super tight, about 1 centimeter around or over the curve. This slight space causes me to have to press a little harder than I'm used to, and that causes mistypes and unresponsive touch, about 1/10 times when I touch that space.

did you turn on the 'touch sensitivity' ?
yes, I sure did. Like I say, 99% of the time was fine, but the edges of the screen protector, the tiny part over the curved edge, was slightly raised with an air gap. So it caused mistypes.

all screen protector sucks! Only use Whitestone tempered glass screen protector for noW

The screen protector is a piece of **** and they told me up front to rip it off, and also the headphone jack and charger jack covers wont stay closed and they told me tough **** to that one.
Also the charger port is too small to allow the samsung usb on the go port to be inserted
