I was wondering if anyone knew what the default thermal throttle threshold for nexus 5 is.. Also how far is it safe to push?

its either 100 or 105C(I believe 105C). how safe? I've hit it hundreds of times, on purpose.

Are you sure its not in the 60s? Coz in stock my cpu benches were lower than nexus 4.once i flashed a custom kernel with 70degrees threshold my cpu bench went up there with the note 3..

ah, I misunderstood your question. I gave you the thermal shutdown temp. default is 65C, when it starts throttling.

Thanks 65 is the digit i was seeking.
btw what kernel were you using when you were trying to hit the thermal "shutdown" temp?

We use Trinity and usually have thermal throttle off

right
and there's no trying, its fairly easy to hit the shutdown temp(especially with 90F+ temps in my area currently).

Harder if you keep thermal throttle on, which most people do :silly:
Silly northern hemisphere, it's Winter here in Australia My CPU temp goes down to 20C without artificial cooling lol.

Recently, I have seen the undervolted kernel for Nexus One which makes the battery spell longer.
Can anyone modify it for G1?

Look on the app market, dude. There are like 5 apps\widgets to do that EXACT same thing. Nothing has to be ported.

They actually don't do the exact same thing... My kernel is undervolted, not underclocked. Theres a difference. Undervolted uses less power at the same speeds, underclocked just drops the clockspeed.
interesting
This is interesting... I'd like to see this happen
EDIT: Forget it...

The one he linked for the Nexus is the one I made.
I don't think its possible for the G1/MT3g/CLIQ unfortunately.

In other words all 72XX lack this ability correct?
But the new Armv7 should be capable like the Droid, legend, devour, etc.
You can lower the vdd for 528MHz, but the next jump down makes it so low that the phone would immediately crash.

So we can lower it but not up it for the overclock?
Also, can we lower it at the lower speeds? (I have mine set up to underclock when the battery is low, when the screen is off, etc. so a lower VDD (if stable) would be great.

How feasible is it to underclock the phone even further than the 128 MHz?
personaly , i dont see a huge advantage to underclocking past what we got now, undervolting.... nah,
@ sleep mine atleast has virtualy no background processes.
and even on a heavy use day, cell standby shows up as my largest drain.
you want much better battery life, id say look into hacking the radio on it.
Hi,
Could you advise, if my phone has good temperature please ? I have installed software called: CPU Team i see very often about 75-80 degrees Celsius, if phone is not used value is about 40 degrees C
Battery has 35 degrees - so i am quite sure this is normal.
I am a bit confused and i do not know what i can do to improve CPU Temp.
Thank you very much.

Hi,
Yes, i have Empire, but phone reached this value when i have opened e.g facebook .
Today is about 24° in my room.
thx
What are your CPU ASV values?
Check there: /sys/kernel/debug/asv_summary
Reach 80° during gaming is ok.
But using an app as FB it's strange, but I don't use FB...

I cannot open this file. should i root device ??
Yes, device must be rooted.
So you are probably on a stock "bloated" rom.
That's probably why it run hot as there is too many process running.
You should have a try to a stock modded rom

Anyway - i will try follow your advise ( i have to care of my warranty) - I have operator ROM so can it be problem ? If so, i will send phone to service with request to put unbranded ROM
thanks a lot for your help.

Hello,
After a year of optimizing my G Flex 2(which i love so much...) and trying all the tweaks around the xda... I found that the only solution that will almost save your phone from overheating is the simpliest! (other solutions are good too but with this i got the best results)
First of all you need ROOT! So after rooting your phone:
1. You should get the custom thermal config from XDA (crucial step). Improves CPU performance and unlocks the brightness
2. Install Kernel Adiutor from Play store
3.In the Kernel Adiutor go to the thermal tab and disable core control and any other switch is on!
4.After switching thermals go to the CPU tab and on the big cores disable Cores 2 and 3 (your phone becomes hexacore, if they reopen their selfs try other combination of disabling)
5.Then set the Maximum big core frequency down to 1536Mhz
6.Enable on boot
And thats all you are ready to roll cool 'n' smooth
***IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER TWEAK LIKE THE ONES FOR EX KERNEL MANAGER OR THE init.qcom.post_boot DISABLE THEM BECAUSE THEY CHANGE THE CPU FREQUENCIES AND RESTART THE CORES
I really hope that i helped you! Hit the thanks button!
*soon i will post Antutu and Geekbench benchmarks

Also applying a thermal gel whould be pretty cool (Oneplus 2 have)... Also i thought of getting one of these waterproof sprey coatings and every time its overheating put it under water!

Hey!
Does the performance mode on S7 keep the cpu and gpu at max freq. Or does it just boost the clock more?
(This can be seen by installing trepn profiler and then selecting "performance graph")

Dont have S7.
But i would like to know what it does.
Just curious....I checked the CPU states of my phone using Better Battery Stats and notice that it never goes above 1.8ghz. As I understand it, the Mate 9 is 4x2.4 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4x1.8 GHz Cortex-A53. Perhaps with my usage the Mate 9 never is required to go above 1.8 but I am curious if others have seen their CPU hit 2.4?
Yup. Is better battery displaying both big and little cores?
