Hello,
After a year of optimizing my G Flex 2(which i love so much...) and trying all the tweaks around the xda... I found that the only solution that will almost save your phone from overheating is the simpliest! (other solutions are good too but with this i got the best results)
First of all you need ROOT! So after rooting your phone:
1. You should get the custom thermal config from XDA (crucial step). Improves CPU performance and unlocks the brightness
2. Install Kernel Adiutor from Play store
3.In the Kernel Adiutor go to the thermal tab and disable core control and any other switch is on!
4.After switching thermals go to the CPU tab and on the big cores disable Cores 2 and 3 (your phone becomes hexacore, if they reopen their selfs try other combination of disabling)
5.Then set the Maximum big core frequency down to 1536Mhz
6.Enable on boot
And thats all you are ready to roll cool 'n' smooth
***IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER TWEAK LIKE THE ONES FOR EX KERNEL MANAGER OR THE init.qcom.post_boot DISABLE THEM BECAUSE THEY CHANGE THE CPU FREQUENCIES AND RESTART THE CORES
I really hope that i helped you! Hit the thanks button!
*soon i will post Antutu and Geekbench benchmarks

Also applying a thermal gel whould be pretty cool (Oneplus 2 have)... Also i thought of getting one of these waterproof sprey coatings and every time its overheating put it under water!

The GPU has been overclocked to 200 MHZ result from stock 25 fps to 36.5...
The desire(+-27FPS neocore) has the AMD Z430 GPU wich is also on the acer Liquid running at much higher 34,6 FPS @ the same resolution 800x480 but UC cpu768 MHZ although it still preforms much higher on neocore !
I'm sure that some of you developers with the knowledge are prepared figuring this out to get the desire GPU preforming better !..

The Snapdragon Processor holds the CPU and GPU in one chip... i dont know if youre able to do that...
EDIT: maybe changing some clocking and voltage values in kernel???
More performance can somehow be squeezed out of it tho. Its just not good enough with the power it holds

looks like only some parameters and 2 functions (pc_clk_enable and pc_clk_disable) were changed.
I don't have much experience with kernel developing, I'm just a stupid java dev. lol
But I'd like to see this added to the 2.6.32.9 kernels, and since we would be able to
change the clock frequency somewhere in /sys/module/clock/, something like a "SetGPU" would be a nice project to do.

I use mine @1.8ghz no stability problem, no fc, i use Cygic Aura ( 3d gps) and no issue..
But this frequency is very high, use @ your risk !
Usualy a 1.4Ghz is a good mix between performance & security

Little tips : remove the cap of the battery BEFORE your tests ;-) in case the phone crash it's to easy for pull down the battery & reboot ;-)
1.4-1.5ghz is the max if you dont want to damage your processor
anything above 1.5ghz is very risky & gives hardly any performance boost
but mostly 1.2ghz is more than enough

I agree with that, anything over around 1.4 wrecks the CPU. The higher MHz are for Development testing and need not be used day to day.

There is an antenna in that "cap" as you call it, and there appears to be an issue with battery movement and the eMMC chip, you shouldn't remove the cap at all with the phone on to help prevent this.

Depending on which governor you choose. Scary seems to really keep tabs on it well. I'm at 1900/245 and when I run Scary the battery doesn't run down at all. I'm not a fan of the performance though, as it is too slow to react sometimes. Still working on the others, so no solid opinions yet.

I don't see why you would underclock your phone that slow... 245 is way too slow for a phone made to run default at 1ghz. You'll have screen wake issues and uber response problems... duh.. I don't see why ppl turn their smartphones into expensive paperweights just so they can extend battery life. I'd rather have a phone that computes efficiently than one that doesn't even want to process. 600 MHz min is just fine.
Sent from my Triumph using Tapatalk
245 would be the minimum clock speed, not the maximum My guess is that when your phone is asleep, it would use as little resources as possible.

I've taken the liberty to root my GS4 and have some time spent on tweaking kernel parameters.
For these settings you need to be rooted and have downloaded a kernel tweaking app, such as Trickster Mod.
I believe these settings should make some pretty significant changes to your experience.
Follow the screenshots for the configurations:

Still testing. I am charging the device now and I'll report later but i'm guessing hardly anything noticeable.
Thanks for the post!
I am however curious about the use of ZRAM as this phone should easily have enough built in RAM to where that is not needed..
ZRAM generally gets used when a system is RAM deficient.. ZRAM will also be noticeably slower than using the built in RAM as well...
Looking forward to you reporting back..

I think you may be confused about ZRAM.
ZRAM is used for swapspace instead of placing the swap on the "disk" it is placed in RAM for a performance boost.

Why does your say you have power savings enabled? Why not turn power savings completely off? I still run my galaxy for like 2 days with Music playing like an 8 hour day.
