nonoononono if you overclock you snapdragon 835 you will not surpass the 845 and you will kill you cpu life because this cpu doesnt have a cooler
but yes its posible i had already try it but do not do it

hahahahaha... i love your reaction.. but anyways, you are saying XZP got no thermal pipes or any heat shrinking mechanism for the SoC?

this is a video which I found in YouTube there you can see there is not a nice cooler for the CPU so if you do something like overclock you can kill you smartphone , I use ADB for 4k screen and my phone is hot Everytime and if I do overclock I will have a bomb in my house (irony)

this is the thing mate.. im not running my phone full4K all the time. i dont need that , all i need is more power out of the cpu and gpu. so OCing with the stock 1080p config wont harm ( at least thats what i assume given the fact that current temps are healthy af).
If there is anyone to guide me with this process , i would love to give this a try ( take one for the team)

I use mine @1.8ghz no stability problem, no fc, i use Cygic Aura ( 3d gps) and no issue..
But this frequency is very high, use @ your risk !
Usualy a 1.4Ghz is a good mix between performance & security
do you notice a lot more battery drainage ?

Otherwise i make 2days with few calls, sms and 2G data connection for weather and news reading.

Little tips : remove the cap of the battery BEFORE your tests ;-) in case the phone crash it's to easy for pull down the battery & reboot ;-)
1.4-1.5ghz is the max if you dont want to damage your processor
anything above 1.5ghz is very risky & gives hardly any performance boost
but mostly 1.2ghz is more than enough

Some feel that doing that (removing the battery when the phone crashes) will brick the phone

I agree with that, anything over around 1.4 wrecks the CPU. The higher MHz are for Development testing and need not be used day to day.

There is an antenna in that "cap" as you call it, and there appears to be an issue with battery movement and the eMMC chip, you shouldn't remove the cap at all with the phone on to help prevent this.
Sorry to sort of ride a bit off topic here, but what do I need (programs) and what would I need to do to be able to overclock?
If it's S-OFF or Rooting, I can go find the guides

first s-off then root the device then install a custom kernel that supports overclocking the use setcpu(from the market) or a similar program
you can control the frequency from setcpu
you can refer this guide
@alain.duchateau try running the device at 1.3ghz i have never had even one crash on this frequency

CPU Overclock

Hi. I wonder if anyone managed to overclock the CPU of our phones already.
It would be really cool if someone did that, because at the default frequency there is sometimes not enough power for some more demanding apps. Maybe these additional 100-200 Mhz could just about make it better perhaps?
Either a custom kernel or kernel modules are needed
But its seems no one knows to do that
We need to wait until someone with compiling skills buy this phone
It seem's that you can't overlock it,but you can shut down several cores manually......

CPU never reaches 2.4ghz?

Just curious....I checked the CPU states of my phone using Better Battery Stats and notice that it never goes above 1.8ghz. As I understand it, the Mate 9 is 4x2.4 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4x1.8 GHz Cortex-A53. Perhaps with my usage the Mate 9 never is required to go above 1.8 but I am curious if others have seen their CPU hit 2.4?

Hi guys! After long searching, I found best settings for balance performance/ battery.
1) Install Oreo firmware 10.3.1.0. I installed over Pie fw after Rom installed.
2) Install IceCold Kernel v.3.5 Oreo. This Kernel have a underclock frequency (300Mhz) and overclock frequencies (1.8 and 2.2). You'll save battery and get best performance when play games.
3) Set darkutil governors for little and big CPU in your Kernel Manager. Set conservative if you don't play games.
4) Turn off ZRAM if you want save more battery.
5) Enjoy.
pS.: Sorry my bad english.
My rom is Evolution X 2.1
Appreciate your effort dude.

Doesnt 300mhz use same voltage as 600mhz? In that case it doesnt save any battery, just makes device more sluggish.

I dont argue about that. But that maybe because of other things you did. We shouldnt promote things that dont help, so just saying that people shouldnt be using 300mhz, it doesnt help
That's very useful tip bro... thanks...
But this trick won't workout for pie firmware based custom ROM I think
Yes. I reinstalled Oreo fw and run Pie Rom. This tip dont work in Pie fw.

No. Oreo fw is more battery friendly than Pie fw. 300mhz underclock is a plus only. This frequency dont work properly in Pie fw.

Its not about firmware.. Its about cpu architecture and voltage table used in kernels. SOC was designed to run at 600mhz minimum because its most efficient frequency. If you lower voltage at lowest frequency, it starts crashing and can be unstable. And since you cant lower voltage anymore, there is no point using 300mhz frequency, because minimum required voltage is the same as 600mhz, so you only loose speed..

I never said it doesnt run stable at 300mhz. I said it doesnt run stable if you lower the voltage. So now you are using 300mhz with same voltage as 600mhz uses, meaning that you use same amount of power, but completing task takes longer...

Question Poco X3 Pro Kernel

Hi,
Gpu overclock is my reason to root poco.
I'm new to this I want to ask if KonaBess works with Poco X3 Pro ?
I know that works with 855/855+ and anybody tested this ?
Is there Kernel for Poco X3 Pro that increase Gpu Freq to 700-800 Mhz for gaming ?
Overclocking to 700Mhz is useless for me, because GPU from SD860 has 675Mhz as max. frequency.
And yes - messing with KonaBess cause reboot under heavy load.

But to 750-765 or 800 Mhz is worth it ,but someone tell me that snapdragon 860 is first chip with " seems like frequency tables for 860 is locked . TZ locked "
So i don't know about this staff is that possible that 860 can't be overclock with konabess or kernel ?
That is why I want root.

NOM_L1. I was curious how much we can get from stock voltage. And the answer is: 690 Mhz.
Can we increase voltage on Poco X3 Pro to OC like 750 Mhz ? How is possible that someone is overcloking 865 to 905Mhz ?

You need to know that how much hardware using voltage on some level, "it's not only gpu that you measure". Example cpu will use more voltage if it's freq is maxed, and your TFT/IPS screen Will use some voltage to if brightness maxed.
So if you use NOM_L3 on GPU, please calculate other hardware to successfully measure "hardware used resources voltage" for overclocking.
You need to install some battery measurements like accubattery or something to get value of current MaH used by devices and do overclock step by step to migrate NOM_L3
Mine works if cpu is downgraded from 2.4ghz to 2.2ghz, and with lowest screen brightness to do 850mhz on snapdragon 855
I think that gpu is tzlocked at 692mhz. Sadly so this is max freq from 855+/860 which we can get.
Maybe modifying kernel will unlock this.

There's a kernel in the Telegram group.
• Performance improvements (No, it's not a gaming kernel)
And a probably related ROM
Also read what never00miss said in the reply, might even work on stock kernel.
Well, from my experience, that kernel definitely does not overclock, however, it makes the phone run really smooth, especially on custom roms. You can try doing it yourself (oc), or wait for gaming kernel. However, i dont see the need in overclocking this phone, really.

I don't need OC either.
Smooth, issue-less, and good battery backup longevity is enough.
Hi,
Yup tested on mi 9 miui 12.5. Works perfectly fine. In a few days I'll try undervolting a little bit.
Yeh but Mi 9 happy has 855 not 855+/860 so Gpu can be overclock up to even 850 MHz with no problem.
