Does anyone else have issues with the google keyboard not responding to input? It works fine, then all of a sudden it doesn't "freeze", but won't take any input - I.e I can see the button being pressed, but text doesn't appear on screen.
It seems to only happen after receiving a SMS. I have tried hangouts, chompsms, and aosp message app and they all do this. I have also tried different keyboards (aosp, google, Swiftkey) but they all freeze up to.
I'm on a totally stock setup, but had issue on purity and PA as well in past. Seems to come and go, but lately it's happening very frequently. To get the keyboard working again I have to kill the SMS app then restart.
Any ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Have you tried clearing the keyboard and messaging app caches? Maybe even wipe cache and dalvik next. Seems to help with a lot of issues like this.

Anyone else having a problem getting OK Google to launch gone now? It worked fine when I first bought the phone then stopped after a couple days. Then I rooted the phone and it started working again but then stopped after a couple days. I'm running stock rooted. I even cleared the data on the search app and it still didn't work.

It only works on US English but as the OP said, it did work before and he hasn't changed language so we can assume he is using US English.
It's an issue that I've seen crop up around XDA and Reddit and one I've had myself, so don't worry too much because I assume it'll be fixed in later builds. All that works for me is a reboot, then Google Now will detect 'OK Google' again. Try that.
"Ok Google" may disappear but feature is working
that's what is happening with me. I wiped the Launcher data twice to get back the "Ok Google" on the search bar
but it disappeared again and When I say okay google it works
A reboot definitely doesn't help. The only other time it came back was when I unlocked the bootloader and it wiped the device.

If the microphone on the "Google" search bar of the home screen is filled in, it is listening. If it is hollow (an outline of a microphone) then it's not listening.
Reasons it may not be listening:
A. An app has requested audio access (games, music, videos, camera, even if they're in the background). This is especially common with games that insist on running even when no longer visible. Swipe away the app(s) and the microphone will activate itself again.
B. Not set to US English.
C. Google Now isn't configured.
D. Hotword in Google Search settings is turned off.
Any of those reasons are common and considered normal functionality. If you can eliminate all of them then you're looking at something more in depth like ROM issues, broken hardware, etc.
The microphone is hollow.
A. It isn't a game or app because it doesn't fix with a reboot.
B it is set to us English
C gone now is configured
D hotword is turned on
I haven't changed any of the settings but I have double checked that the settings are correct. I read on Android police that other people are having problems with now but none of the problems are the same as mine.

Not sure if it'll work for you, but changing the language, back to home press the microphone and then changing it back to US seems to work for me.

On my Note II i had it working fine!
The first picture is from clearing the cache and uninstalling all app updates. The second picture is the first page after activating Google now.

Have you tried turning Google Now off and then back on?
So opt-out and then back in?
Hey guys,
For about two days now, ever since I updated my Nexus 5 (running on T-Mobile) to 4.4.3 using the OTA, Google Hangouts is failing to send texts in phases. For one hour or so it'll fail every other text until I resend it, then after that it works for a few hours again perfectly fine, then back to failing some.
I'm going to try using Evolve SMS for a bit to see if it happens there, but something tells me this isn't Hangouts' fault.
I am rooted and have a custom recovery, but it's been that way for months (Before 4.4.3 update) and I doubt would affect it.
Thanks,
David
Try cheating the cache in hangouts. If that doesn't work uninstall it, reboot, and then reinstall it from play store

I'll do that, I just cleared my cache/dalvik too. Unfortunately Hangouts is hardwired into stock so I can only uninstall updates, but if it acts up again I'll try that.

I do, although I'll use that as a last resort at the moment haha. Still think it's a more widespread-than hangouts problem.
Update: Switched to Evolve SMS, still happening x.x
I was also having this issue using Chompsms. Reverted back to 4.4.2 and the issue is gone. Also on T-Mobile

I think it was with T-Mo in my area. My friend was on Nexus 5 stock 4.4.2 and having the problem, it's since gone.
Tldr: Issue resolved itself, was likely T-Mobile's side
recently I notice that my camera wouldn't focus and I think it started happening after the latest update.
everything was working great before and never had an issue. any ideas?
The latest camera update our android update? Try clearing data and cache for the camera app. If that doesn't work try another camera app.
Edit: Typo

I meant I am using all the latest software.... All updates were installed.
I tried clearing the cache... Downgrading the camera app, installed various camera apps and same result.
I also did a factory reset.

...and the glass covering the lens is not smudged?
Glass is clean, very clean actually, never used the device without a case and the glass usually wouldn't touched any surfaces directly.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
You could try downgrading to another version of android by flashing the stock image. If that doesn't work I think there may be a hardware issue.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Free mobile app
I tried going back to 4.4.2 when I know it worked but it didn't work with the downgrade.
I called Google and they will send another device... Factory refurbished... I'm skeptical about that thou, should I be?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Download another camera app and see if you have the same issue. If you don't, then it's just the software and not a problem with the camera itself.
Hel already mentioned that he tried many camera apps all with the same result.
@op No, I think the new device will be just fine. Don't worry about it.

I get this issue ALL THE TIME when I'm trying to use Snapchat, but I'm assuming that's just an issue with the app and it's compatibility with my device, ROM, kernal, etc. I haven't noticed it happening with the Camera Next app (Cyanogen stock camera), but I also haven't tried using it much.

That's a well-known Cyanogenmod issue which I frankly hoped would not occur on this CM-powered phone. I did have it happen too on some occasions regardless of which app triggered the camera.
The good old "Restart Camera" APK seems to do the trick even though it takes a lot of time to reinitialize the camera afterwards. See here for the APK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/themes-apps/17-fixed-camera-app-lib-cm-aosp-roms-t2505973
Yeah same here with Snapchat

Not sure whether it would be worth flash a different ROM just because of this issue. Shame though because I really do like this ROM.

I just downloaded the Camera Reset apk that someone previously mentioned and I'm hoping when Snapchat loses connection to the camera, using the reset app will fix it. Better than restarting the phone.

clear z cache... or maybe you have to much contacts..
For me it opens slowly from the lockscreen (left-to-right swipe), otherwise its pretty fast (from a homescreen shortcut)...
Yeh I have the same thjng, let's see if wiping the cache will help.
I have the same problem, it drives me nuts... thinking about going back to 4.4.4.
Seeing the same thing on N5 Lollipop. I'm also using Google Voice for all calls--maybe related to that?
The phone dialer indeed starts slower on Lollipop (in comparison with KitKat)..
