If you have a custom recovery, you can via adb

It worked for a while on N5 but no longer I believe. Not the ideal solution for a Nexus. Too easy for noobs to root without bothering to learn stuff

Custom recovery afaik isn't possible without unlocked bootloader no?
I'm unlocked/rooted by manual and right-way method for my nexus 5. But my brother is paranoid as ****. He just get's totally afraid abt hearing the word root/unlock. So I thought of giving towelroot a try for him without telling him and it worked. Phone is rooted and m using supersu aswell. All works well for now. Why would it stop ?

[Q] Root Problems (Solved)

Hi,
I'm having issues with my OPO root. After unlocking Bootloader, flashing TWRP recovery and installing SuperSu, I installed some root Apps. The first one worked (gave permission), but the second App said I have no root installed, and the first one said the same. When I restart my phone sometimes it works but only for some seconds.
Hope someone can help.

Glad I could help and take it easy!

I have messed up real nasty.

I flashed userdata, and it wiped everything as expected.
But I didn't have a ROM installed. So I'm OSless and there is no OS on the internal SD card anymore.
What do I do in this situation?

That's because you've not got adb/fastboot in your System Path. You'll need to extract the image to your fastboot folder and then run the flash-all.bat file again

Why bother? The OPO has an easily unlockable bootloader, so you can root, install a custom recovery and ROMs if you so desire.

Fair enough, you could try it and if it works install titanium backup and backup your apps. Then it would be slightly less hassle to unlock the bootloader. I'm not so sure of the outcome if it doesn't work properly or go wrong, but worse case scenario you may need to wipe to sort your phone out anyway.
I know man, I know
I was simply hoping to find anyone who had already used to get some feedback: I really have no time to restart from zero on the phone, in case anything goes wrong with titanium, helium or anything else.
In addition, my phone works like a charm, have no issues at all: I'd rather not touch it

What about using fastboot to root? You dont need to unlock and wipe, see the below posts and thread for info. Safer than using an 'exploit'.

Edit: Sorry just read through an looks like subsequent updates closed the option of rooting with locked bootloader.

King doesn't work. The only way to root is by unlocking the bootloader. It's best to research a phone when you're buying it, then you'd just unlock the bootloader before committing data to the device.

T-Mobile Revvl OTA captured

I managed to capture an OTA update for the T-Mobile Revvl. It contains the boot image, preloader, and a bunch of other system stuff. If we can mod this for root or custom recoveries, that would be great.

Dirtycow uses kernel so you need to check what security
version kernel you have it doesn't go by Android version. Or try Rowhammer.

Tried Dirtycow anyway, the stock Revvl is not vilnerable.
Why don't you spit out all of the root exploit tools you know of and quit wasting my time?
I am willing to jump on the bandwagon and help developers to gain root access for this phone and the plus version. Fairly tech savvy with adb and fairly comfortable to be able to redirect if something went wrong let me know what's needed!!!
Would love to see this happen! Have one if you need someone to beta test

Grandstream - GXV3370 - How to root

Hello guys,
Grandstream released their new android desk phone, the 3370.
I'm not able to root it the way I was doing it on the GXV3275.
Motochopper worked on earlier version of 3275, then I was using KingRoot.
I tried these method on the new 3370, without success.
I tried KingoRoot and One Click Root.
The Windows version of KingoRoot and Kingroot does not work using ADB wifi, so I don't know if it could eventually work.
Do you guys know a way?

Have you tried the Magisk method? Find the Magisk rooting thread here, read it thoroughly there are details about your device that you will need to research to determine exactly how to apply Magisk to your specific device. Details such as whether your device is an A/B partitioned device or if you need to patch the boot.img or recovery.img, etc... Be careful and make sure you understand the details properly.
