T-Mobile Revvl OTA captured - Android General

I managed to capture an OTA update for the T-Mobile Revvl. It contains the boot image, preloader, and a bunch of other system stuff. If we can mod this for root or custom recoveries, that would be great.
Here's a mdeiafire link to the OTA update.

The OTA contains the special key needed for SP flash tools to work, and even when trying that it fails.

Have you tried dirtycow? Also you don't need the keys it's direct flash. Have you tried Advanced Mode and used the Write memory Function? Only use this if you know how.

You must have missed the memo, Dirt Cow was patched out in 7.0.1. This phone released with 7.0.1. Meaning Dirty Cow will NEVER work

Dirtycow uses kernel so you need to check what security
version kernel you have it doesn't go by Android version. Or try Rowhammer.

Tried Dirtycow anyway, the stock Revvl is not vilnerable.
Why don't you spit out all of the root exploit tools you know of and quit wasting my time?

I am willing to jump on the bandwagon and help developers to gain root access for this phone and the plus version. Fairly tech savvy with adb and fairly comfortable to be able to redirect if something went wrong let me know what's needed!!!

Would love to see this happen! Have one if you need someone to beta test

The bootloader is not unlockable!??!?!
there are instructions for all the roms in their posts.
It's not as unlock, because I do not say anything when I use the automatic method, you could tell me how to do it again, I have downloaded the APK Cheesecake.

Sorry, I don't really understand this. Are you trying to check cheesecake? If so that is not a bootloader unlock. It just checks motorola development servers to hopefully find an update that has an unlocked bootloader or ICS. He have basically given up on finding a booltoader unlock with it, but we are still trying to pull ICS.
Do not use my auto cheesecake, as stated in the post it does not really work yet. Use the original cheesecake app and hit the first button once. Then choose the first server with the second. check for an update. if it finds one, download it right away, BUT DO NOT INSTALL IT. upload it somewhere and share it here so we can see what it has. If it says up to date, the server was up, but there was no update. if it gives a wifi error, the server was down, which is normal.
Oh I understand, good to me and came out a version downloaded and installed, so I guess it may not do anything now: (

Rooting Pixel, any drawbacks or missing features since its still 'new/beta'

So I just finally received my phone and of course want to root it and switch over from my htc one m7.
are there any features of rooting that still are in the process of being worked out?
main concern does titanium backup work fully

Titanium Backup works fine. Any apps that use SafetyNet(Android Pay, Snapchat, etc) won't work once you unlock your bootloader/root.

Snapchat, and most banking apps. Except simple and chase that I know of.
There are still tons of warnings of permanent bad things happening if you relock the bootloader without stock software installed. I know no details but I recommend you research that first before starting anything.
What if you just root to modify the hosts file, then into it and lock? Seems like that should be fine
I know one workaround for Snapchat used to be unlocking the bootloader, installing the app and logging in, then rooting. Any word on if that still applies? I'm using a 2014 Moto X still on Lollipop, so I'm afraid I'm a touch out of the loop.

Test and find out if you still get yellow warning at boot. If no warning... Maybe you won't be potentially bricked by red lockout if you lock.
If you you see yellow warning, certainly that is not fine.
Sent from my sailfish using XDA Labs
Apparently, as I've been informed, to lock the BL again, you will have to do a wipe, so no good.
Just flash a custom kernel, they bypass the bootloader unlock check for safetynet. Doesnt' help you with root though
Yeah, I might end up doing that. So SafetyNet detects systemless root now?

Firmware controls hardware... it can damage and destroy it. This is the highest risk level endeavor you can engage in with an Android for multiple reasons.
Limited usage means limited testing and peer review. No reviews mean...
The phase wantonly reckless comes to mind.

Download KB2005_11.C16 ?

Hi,
I currently have the version KB2005_11_C.11 on my 8T.
Via OTA I am offered the new version KB2005_11.C16_1160_202204222257. But this breaks again and again at 22% with Installationproblems.
The OxygenUpdater also brings me nothing because it constantly offers me the already existing version KB2005_11_C.11.
Where can I download the latest (full) version KB2005_11.C16?
Or other.....kann the evtl. someone times upload ?

That's why your update won't work. C16 is an incremental update and expects the stock boot image to be in place.
Next question. Do you have a directory named something like /data/magisk_backup_c64948c228b8c5e1aee9c14fbed837abb5aa50de
The numbers will be different as mine are for C.16

Unlocked bootloader, now remains root.

Phone is oppo f7. I know f7 doesn't have any roots or threads. However, i've found an option to unlock the bootloader from developer settings and unlocked it. It gave me a protection warning so that assures the bootloader has been unlocked.
Now remains rooting, what do i do? i would prefer to use rooting apps like supersu or king root but king root has malware in addition to rooting device.

Magisk is the best root solution, hands down.
I'm not familiar with OPPO devices, but generally, this is what you'd want to do:
Install Magisk on your device
Download the official firmware for your device and extract boot.img
Transfer boot.img to your phone and patch in Magisk
Transfer the patched boot.img to your PC, reboot your phone to bootloader
Use ADB Platform Tools to flash the patched boot image to your /boot partition
Reboot device

Good luck. After reading other threads on this forum with Oppo devices, it seems that they did not properly implement ADB or fastboot on their devices, so the "standard" way may not work. While it seems Kingo Root is very popular with that device, it's also malware and we do not recommend it.
