You have this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2686235 ROM, right?
The Kernels for it are included in the installer, when you first flash the zip. You can just reflash it and select a kernel this time.

Wifi works fine. It's definitely user error
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda premium
So, you get some FC's and WiFi doesn't work... ok.
1. Have you tried flashing the boot.img (the correct one, extracted from the ROM zip) with fastboot? Well, try it again! "adb fastboot flash boot boot.img" and make sure that you have the boot.img in the folder where you run the command. This way you will reflash the kernel and at least the WiFi problem should go away.
VERY IMPORTANT after you run the flash boot command in fastboot, it is recommended to do a "fastboot erase cache" before booting.
2. Now, if this doesn't fix your issues, try wiping everything from your phone (do a Titanium bkp for your apps, not your system settings) and go with a full wipe (Dalvik included). Flash the ROM once again and after that is complete, don't boot the phone. Do a data and cache wipe again, and reboot to bootloader. Get in fastboot usb mode and repeat the first step.

Thank You very very much!!!
The problem was the Kernel (boot.img).
After i upgraded to the last 4.1.2 the kernel stopped working.
I tried to wipe all data and cache with no good results.
This night i tried to flash again for the third time the boot.img by Toolkit 1.2 and it started working again!!!
So i wiped all data and cache again. Installed the 4.1.2 again, the gapps and started to setup all the stuff again
Thank you for your answers and @mikeyinid too!!

Now i tried to wipe all data and cache but the phone don't want to boot!

The best practice for now is flashing the boot.img (containing the kernel) via fastboot. Try that, because the custom recoveries cannot flash the boot.img, not until we get s-off-ed.
Good Luck!

It's great that you managed to fix it. And when you discover the fix yourself, it's even more rewarding
I can recommend TrickDroid, it's close to stock, actually very close to stock, with just some great tweaks added, and it has no bugs. You can rely on this rom as a daily driver.
Cheers!

Well, first thing, the quick settings in the notification bar. I can't use the phone without them . Take a look at the trickdroid thread for your device (the 8.1.0 if you have S4) and see what fits you.

I'm trying all setting wiping every time and installing again the ROM.
I can wipe and reinstall the ROM without problem with the kernel. I don't need to fastboot the kernel everytime. Just install the ROM by recovery...
Thank you very much buddy for talking me about this rom.

After installing, do this then you're all set:
1. Click "Full Driver Installation Guide - Automatic + Manual" then follow the instructions carefully.
2. In step 2, choose and click "PdaNet Drivers"
3. Follow all instructions, then click "Full Driver Test", you'll see a success message if you did everything right.
4. Go back to main program window, then click "Unlock". Make sure to backup your device because this will wipe everything in it.
5. Tick the "Custom Recovery" box under Root menu then click "Root".
6. Done. Stand up and shout "YEAAAA!!!"

If you're gonna stick to Stock 4.1.2 ROM, i recommend using either of these two:
_thalamus kernel: LINK (Reuploaded because thalamus removed it)
FloHimself Stock kernel: LINK (This has a few more features but still closer to stock. Can be activated via NSTools)

tried both of them same result. wasnt able to install crespo kernel but was able to install the other one. i also tried to install matr1x.v24 but no use. also i wasnt able to install cm9 and cm7 earlier when everything was fine. dont know why
should i try and unroot the phone with wug toolkit using the soft bricked option. maybe that might help, and then install the kernels.:fingers-crossed:

If you can still boot to recovery you can easily fix this.
Download any ROM
Reboot to recovery
In mount:
-format system
-format data
-format cache
-mount usb
Copy your ROM to your phone.
Safely dismount USB on your computer
Unmount USB
Flash the ROM you downloaded
Reboot
Enjoy.
Edit: actually, you need a kernel with support for stock, which i provide in my marmite thread.

Hi mate, did you solve it?
Don't worry, as long as you have recovery mode and download mode you have good chances for happy-end
Maybe you're too far from stock now with all your kernels etc, so something is not compatible.
Best you can do IMO is to flash via Odin3_v1.87 any stock ROM for your region (there are many tutorials for using Odin if you never did it) if after unzipping only one single big file appears, choose it under PDA (don't check re-partition), set you Tab into download mode and flash it. If several files are there, each belongs under its section. (in that case if you are not sure how, just quote my post and ask again, I will answer you)
After that you can root the stock ROM, install CWM recovery and flash whatever you wish

Mate, I'm bit short ov experience with the Tab as it didn't make me yet so many problems like my phone did. If you can't revive it, just send it to Samsung service.
It isn't at all especially increddible idea but it won't cost too much and should definitely help.....

[Q] Where to get the phantom kernel 4.2.2 update to start?

What do you mean by 'upgrading to a higher version'??
the latest version for jb is v7 and all those after that are for kitkat only.
Also you can flash a kitkat kernel and flash a kitkat rom WITHOUT installing JB first. It means that you can install r15 along with any kitkat rom without going through the installation of v7.
Hope this helps.

Installing modules flashing the kernel zip using recovery.
Follow these steps
Extract boot.img from the zip file.
Flash it using fastboot (I assume you know how to flash). After that your kernel will be installed. Then power on the phone and let it boot completely. Then copy the kernel zip that you downloaded and from which to you extracted boot.img to your internal storage.
Reboot your device and enter recovery. Flash the kernel zip (This step is called installing modules)
Done. Restart
Hope it helps
Hit thanks if it does
