More aggressive network buffering, please. - MX Player

I enjoy watching videos that are hosted on my PC though Windows File Staring. MX Player plays them fine but does not buffer enough video to prevent hiccups in playback. This is especially true with very complex scenes in 1080p. Copying the same video to my device will play uninterrupted, leading me to believe this is an inadequate buffering issue. Pressing pause will not pre-buffer any large amount of video as the user might expect.

It's a well known issue. Since it's already listed in priority list hopefully the developer will improve it in next major version mx player v2.0

Version 2.0 huh. I was hoping this would be something that finds its way into [perhaps] the next minor update. Change some integer value from 50 to 300 and call it good.

Hello, Do not know if this is the thread for my question or not!? I want to know one thing; when reproduced before a live network link, entering places where (playing from network) and the link was there. Now not find it. And is there the last link I've attached. Me question is: I need to change something in the settings to locate? Or should I do?
Thank you friends for your attention.

Hello mrsdan1940: I don't understand your question. So let me gather some information to see if I can help you. Is your primary language English? Are you using the program MX Player for Android? It's a video audio media player for your mobile or tablet device.

THIS is the Chromecast solution I feel I have been waiting an eternity for. Best of luck with ongoing development...
Well, Miracast accomplishes a similar result, but as it's live transcoding of your entire screen, it would only have decent video playback on higher-end devices. That and Miracast means you can't do a 2nd task on the phone when the video plays.
From my understanding of Chromecast support right now, Google is slowly rolling out support for different formats and file containers. Not sure how long this will take. MX Player transcoding should mean that anything would be playable, assuming your device can handle live transcoding.

Where is the proof or where did you find that
ALSo. I wanted to ask.
Could you please not do one step at a time?
E.g add Chromecast support but for NORMAL. E.g. Basic support. For normal formats which work. Like avia media player.
Thank you
Supported formats: https://developers.google.com/cast/docs/media
As to your question about adding Chromecast support, that would be a question for the developer to answer. @bleu8888
Hopefully we will see this happening any time soon.
Thank you in advance, because we all know MX is the best out there.

Ok, so what exactly does this mean? Is the developer working on Chromecast support? Any ETA for when it should be expected?
Yes he is working on it; no an ETA has not yet been indicated. Thing is, the developer wants ALL videos to work on Chromcast; this means MX Player must do live transcode on any format that Chromecast doesn't support.

What I don't understand is WHY don't you do 1 step at a time?
Why cant you simply right now, add the NORMAL chrome cast features, just MP4 files first.
and then later work on every single file format and transcoding?
Im sure many people would like this option?
Is it possible for a modern quad-core ARM phone/tablet to transcode video formats on the fly? I love MX because it literally plays anything I throw at it, but I don't know if this is the same as transcoding these different formats for casting.

@Krisshp Don't know; it was the developer's decision.
@CAL7 well, for 10-bit I would assume it can't handle it, considering only the more recent phones were able to decode it. For 8-bit, it might be possible if the bitrate isn't too high.

Cant you give this suggestion (which many ACTUALLY want) to the developer? and take it 1 step at a time?...
Thanks
there are many different options out there to use at the moment if you want to stream to chromecast. I agree with the developer having his standards of exactly what he wants his app to be able to do before releasing it... Kudos to him! :good:
I echo the same sentiment of playya.
I agree with you guys, no need to rush, it must come out when ready... But it would be very nice to be updated about the progress, just to know if we can expect it this month or in december 2015

...... Or just leave us in the dark, alone, crying about our insecurities, struggling to overcome our fear of the unknown, but in the end doomed to the abysses of hell. That's cool too.
Glad to see that there is a possibility of seeing a Chromecast compatible MX Player in the future. Kudos to the devs for wanting to keep the standards up. If you need a beta tester count me in. I have helped with other apps in development. Do love MX Player the best I 've found. Just updated to pro to hopefully help with Chromecast development.

[Feature request][Resolved] Adjustable playback speed

This app has set the standard and it's only 2nd to plex player because they undercut you on their price for their app (you get what you pay for, right?) but I'd like to make a suggestion for a feature that I think, and maybe many others along with me, should've been in mx player all along. Playback speed control! The only player that I've seen with playback speed control is VLC player but it's in beta and playback orientation is always a hassle or issue with it so PLEASE OH PLEASE implement playback speed control. You ARE my go to video player 99% of the time!

2-Actually every modern player supports this feature, for example: BS Player, Dice Player, XBMC...etc
3-You'll have to wait too long, but it's coming at the end.
4-A little off-topic but, next time try to make the title a brief description of your problem/issue/feature request.

Very glad to see that the speed control is already on your top priority list.
May it be moved towards the top of this very list! :fingers-crossed:
Thank you so much for your efforts at developping such a stable and well designed application. :good:
"Set for all files" checkbox on the playback speed adjustment interface
One thing I noticed on players featuring playback speed control is that they tend to reset the playback speed each time they start playing a file. For example, when a video has been split into numbered parts, no matter which speed you have set for the part that is playing, the player will reset it to normal speed when it starts playing the next part. Some of them also tend to reset the playback speed when your phone switches to screen-saver mode. As you can imagin, having to readjust playback speed all the time can quickly become annoying.
My suggestion would therefore be to add a checkbox on the playbak speed adjustment interface, by which the user can set wether she or he wishes to keep the new playback speed permanently or only for the file being played.
In advance, thanks a lot!
Any closer ?
Are we any closer to implementing this feature along with frame by frame advance?
It's been on priority for quite some time now and I'm hoping this will happen soon.
Otherwise this is pretty much the best player out there.

My sentiments exactly. I've had to use "more primitive" android video players that offer the playback speed control function that I've been lead to believe was in development for well over a year now.
In fact, I'm easily willing to pay more for this feature (as well as the pop-out ability) if necessary.
Just as louiscar mentioned, this player would - hands down - be the best player available if these features were (finally) added to MX Player Pro.
There is a translation about Playback speed in crowdin. May be developer is willing to release this feature soon.
Latest Beta v1.8.1 works on my Galaxy S5 w/4.4.2 Kitkat

still no playback speed support for mx player pro? :"(
would be the absolute best hands down if it does, but until then, i still need vlc for high speed video playback

No, it might be a device specific issue. AFAIK MX Player Pro has issues only on Android N (7.0) developer preview due to the new restrictions implemented in it. It's default version for Marshmallow devices. For pre marshmallow it's not yet released to public.
You can download the latest nightly version from the official beta webpage ( https://sites.google.com/site/mxvpen/translation/test-build )

[Bug Report] MXPlayer hangs on online tv playing

Hi,
I have Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 with latest Android and I guess the latest MXPlayer update (just updated today). My internet connection is 50Mb/s. I use several online tv apps who use the MXPlayer. And frankly speaking it's a pain watching all of them. I contacted few of the developers and they said it's a player issue. Basically, shortly after I start any of them the player either hangs or stutter, or shows black screen. I tried all three types of decoding (SW, HW, HW+) but that doesn't help - they all have their own bad behavior and the end result is unwatchable stream. It seems the problem is mainly with content streaming over internet. One of the things I'm trying to watch is Waza Tv.
I'm not an expert on this. Just trying to get maybe hints on what I can set in the player to make it work better in these kind of situations. Can I change how much it buffers before it start playing live streams?
Thanks
You should post a log so that developer can find the reason of problem.

And unfortunately, network stream buffering is a known issue that the developer is working on.

Is MX Player subject to today's new subtitle parsing vulnerability?

http://blog.checkpoint.com/2017/05/23/hacked-in-translation/
Seeing as how VLC, Kodi and Popcorn Time are vulnerable I figured that they are probably using the same libraries and there was a fair chance that MX Player is similarly affected. Please let us know and if so the expected timeline for a fix.

Video Players | Security breach report
Hi guys,
I don't want to alarm anyone and I'm new on this forum.
I'm not a developer of any kind but I've recently came across an article that's affecting many of the video players used in android.
Is MX player at risk and are there any measures taken to address this situation?
Thanks in advance for your assistance
Give the details of the report.
I am assuming that you're talking about the one with able to remote access victim's computer with specially prepared movie subtitles? Is that the one?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply since it's my first thread ,I cannot quote any external sources to provide more information.
The one that you're describing is exactly the one.
Thank you
Unfortunately, it was not disclosed publicly hot to exploit the issue is but I don't believe there was any indication of an Android app being affected (it requires VNC server so presumably not).
MX Player developers will need to address this one, I imagine once there are more details
My bad, actually it's already covered in https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/mx-player/mx-player-subject-to-todays-subtitle-t3611258/ - MX Player is safe
Thanks for the ref post that confirm the issue covered

Video lags/buffers/stutters while streaming from online app

No matter which size, format or online url I use, the video eventually starts lagging. I have switched between HW+, HW and SW decorders as well but to no avail. I’m not allowed to either attach a file or a url as of now in this thread. I have even reduced the cpu cores to just two. I’m also using the codecs on this site for 1.9.18.2.
I’ve installed MX Player on my Sanyo Android TV running Oreo. The specs of the TV, video and player should be available from the logs. Please help me either force the player to keep caching the entire video until it’s done (if that’s the problem) or find a way to get the best possible configuration for decoding the videos. Thanks, I’m advance.

Hey Yohu,
Thanks for reaching out. Generally, this may happen due to inadequate bandwidth. If your bandwidth is good enough, the server might be throttling itself. Several online streaming apps make use of the cloud storages as an alternative to CDNs. If it is the case with you, it might be due to the bandwidth limitation on the cloud storage side.
We will be able to assist you if you can provide us with more information. Could you please collect a bug report from the app immediately after noticing the issue and contact us at [email protected] along with the details about the app used for streaming? It will help us to assist you better.

I agree. My bandwidth is a 50Mbps broadband line. I downloaded a 1080p video and played it via MS Player offline. It didn’t lag/stutter even once! Then I changed the online source from where I was streaming videos and voila! The stuttering and lagging were permanently fixed. Thank you for the quick response. This thread/issue is resolved/closed.
