This app has set the standard and it's only 2nd to plex player because they undercut you on their price for their app (you get what you pay for, right?) but I'd like to make a suggestion for a feature that I think, and maybe many others along with me, should've been in mx player all along. Playback speed control! The only player that I've seen with playback speed control is VLC player but it's in beta and playback orientation is always a hassle or issue with it so PLEASE OH PLEASE implement playback speed control. You ARE my go to video player 99% of the time!

@bluevmax92 this. I've edited your title to something more useful.
And yes, it's exactly as almousawi has pointed out; it's already on the list.

Very glad to see that the speed control is already on your top priority list.
May it be moved towards the top of this very list! :fingers-crossed:
Thank you so much for your efforts at developping such a stable and well designed application. :good:
"Set for all files" checkbox on the playback speed adjustment interface
One thing I noticed on players featuring playback speed control is that they tend to reset the playback speed each time they start playing a file. For example, when a video has been split into numbered parts, no matter which speed you have set for the part that is playing, the player will reset it to normal speed when it starts playing the next part. Some of them also tend to reset the playback speed when your phone switches to screen-saver mode. As you can imagin, having to readjust playback speed all the time can quickly become annoying.
My suggestion would therefore be to add a checkbox on the playbak speed adjustment interface, by which the user can set wether she or he wishes to keep the new playback speed permanently or only for the file being played.
In advance, thanks a lot!
Any closer ?
Are we any closer to implementing this feature along with frame by frame advance?
It's been on priority for quite some time now and I'm hoping this will happen soon.
Otherwise this is pretty much the best player out there.

My sentiments exactly. I've had to use "more primitive" android video players that offer the playback speed control function that I've been lead to believe was in development for well over a year now.
In fact, I'm easily willing to pay more for this feature (as well as the pop-out ability) if necessary.
Just as louiscar mentioned, this player would - hands down - be the best player available if these features were (finally) added to MX Player Pro.
There is a translation about Playback speed in crowdin. May be developer is willing to release this feature soon.
Latest Beta v1.8.1 works on my Galaxy S5 w/4.4.2 Kitkat

No, it might be a device specific issue. AFAIK MX Player Pro has issues only on Android N (7.0) developer preview due to the new restrictions implemented in it. It's default version for Marshmallow devices. For pre marshmallow it's not yet released to public.
You can download the latest nightly version from the official beta webpage ( https://sites.google.com/site/mxvpen/translation/test-build )

Pan on Note 10.1

Hello, thanks for this great app.
I wanted to request something I think is a great feature, but then I was happy to see it already in the high priority list.
Popup Player: https://groups.google.com/d/topic/mx-videoplayer/ws_voRX-MVc/discussion
But then I looked at the original thread and it dates back 2 years. Is there any word on development of this?
I see so many video apps successfully implement this and it seems to work wonderfully well for playing local files as well as streaming. For stress testing I even tried out large video files and heavy streams while loading up heavy apps and games and I never noticed lag or stutter, on my first generation nexus 7.
MX Player has always been my favorite android player since my nexus one, 4 years ago until today. And I would love to keep supporting it but I'm now downloading other players when I need floating video.
So I hope for some good news on development of this great feature, thanks!

auto resume on startup
Hi
This player is awesome.
Here a feature needed for android car radio. Android car player are more and more popular, a nice feature would be an option when we start the player, the last played file start automatically on resume, like a normal car cd player do. (no need to start the application automatically, there is already an application for that).
Because each time the car is turned off, all applications are stopped by the android system. of course, if you use the integrated player it resume automatically, but it does not play all format and the interface is not good enough.
Thanks!
Cedric
@AlbertAS and @xenyz please make a new forum thread for your feature requests, then link that thread here, so that it can be added to the list. With a thread for your specific request, it is easier to keep track of each item.

This is a great video player indeed, but as a car stereo app it's not ideal I'd say.. cause that's not its main purpose.
In my car I've been using PowerAmp for over 4 years now, it works great with everything you need from auto resuming to lockscreen controls etc. PowerAmp was one of the first apps to integrate all these things and still does it best imo. Although many other players have adopted the same functions.

THIS is the Chromecast solution I feel I have been waiting an eternity for. Best of luck with ongoing development...
Well, Miracast accomplishes a similar result, but as it's live transcoding of your entire screen, it would only have decent video playback on higher-end devices. That and Miracast means you can't do a 2nd task on the phone when the video plays.
From my understanding of Chromecast support right now, Google is slowly rolling out support for different formats and file containers. Not sure how long this will take. MX Player transcoding should mean that anything would be playable, assuming your device can handle live transcoding.

Where is the proof or where did you find that
ALSo. I wanted to ask.
Could you please not do one step at a time?
E.g add Chromecast support but for NORMAL. E.g. Basic support. For normal formats which work. Like avia media player.
Thank you
Supported formats: https://developers.google.com/cast/docs/media
As to your question about adding Chromecast support, that would be a question for the developer to answer. @bleu8888
Hopefully we will see this happening any time soon.
Thank you in advance, because we all know MX is the best out there.

Ok, so what exactly does this mean? Is the developer working on Chromecast support? Any ETA for when it should be expected?
Yes he is working on it; no an ETA has not yet been indicated. Thing is, the developer wants ALL videos to work on Chromcast; this means MX Player must do live transcode on any format that Chromecast doesn't support.

What I don't understand is WHY don't you do 1 step at a time?
Why cant you simply right now, add the NORMAL chrome cast features, just MP4 files first.
and then later work on every single file format and transcoding?
Im sure many people would like this option?
Is it possible for a modern quad-core ARM phone/tablet to transcode video formats on the fly? I love MX because it literally plays anything I throw at it, but I don't know if this is the same as transcoding these different formats for casting.

@Krisshp Don't know; it was the developer's decision.
@CAL7 well, for 10-bit I would assume it can't handle it, considering only the more recent phones were able to decode it. For 8-bit, it might be possible if the bitrate isn't too high.

Cant you give this suggestion (which many ACTUALLY want) to the developer? and take it 1 step at a time?...
Thanks
there are many different options out there to use at the moment if you want to stream to chromecast. I agree with the developer having his standards of exactly what he wants his app to be able to do before releasing it... Kudos to him! :good:
I echo the same sentiment of playya.
I agree with you guys, no need to rush, it must come out when ready... But it would be very nice to be updated about the progress, just to know if we can expect it this month or in december 2015

Glad to see that there is a possibility of seeing a Chromecast compatible MX Player in the future. Kudos to the devs for wanting to keep the standards up. If you need a beta tester count me in. I have helped with other apps in development. Do love MX Player the best I 've found. Just updated to pro to hopefully help with Chromecast development.
I enjoy watching videos that are hosted on my PC though Windows File Staring. MX Player plays them fine but does not buffer enough video to prevent hiccups in playback. This is especially true with very complex scenes in 1080p. Copying the same video to my device will play uninterrupted, leading me to believe this is an inadequate buffering issue. Pressing pause will not pre-buffer any large amount of video as the user might expect.

Why is there no native Chromecast support for this app...the best video player app for Android.
Many other video player apps have it, but I cant stand to use them.
So you can cast with the built in Screen Cast/Mirroring on the phone, but that is not good for video at all, as it is laggy and of poor quality.
Edit: "DLNA/Casting/Chromecast - IN PROGRESS"

This is my #1 most requested feature for MX Player. I really hope it is implemented as I keep checking this forum and general updates every day. I have tried VLC player and it works very well with PiP but find MX Player better in every other aspect.
Could a dev let us know if this is actively being worked on and if so, is it anywhere near release?
Thank you very much

All video players have either pip or floating window mode except mx player.. the devs have been promising this essential functionality for too long.. mx is great but watching in split window of nougat isn't practical as it takes a large part of the screen and disappears when the keyboard is open.. and many apps don't support being put in split screen

But, It may need lot works as MX Player is very complicated in nature when compared to others. So, we can't provide any timelines about the availability.

Development of new features are slow as snail, with new VLC 3 I'm dumping MX Player completely, used it since it's inception. Time to move on.
I Have vlc 3 and it's much more polished than before. You just press home for the pip instead of navigating your way to so it. I HAVE no idea what mx hasn't added it. I know that they are capable. It's got to be one of the most featured requests. Android P dev preview will be out first though ha.
I hope they will add it soon.
It's been some eight months since we started asking about PIP. Still no road map?
Have others started moving away from Mxplayer and to VLC?
Vlc wastes 5 times the amount of battery MX player does. Probably the complexity the dev was talking about. It's not an option for me. I'll manage MX till PiP is supported

Well, another month goes by and the latest update still doesn't have PiP feature...
I really want to stick with this player but it's falling behind with pip.

Because of lack of PIP I tried moving to VLC several times, but i have so much of videos and there is no video folder view like in MX, VLC just shows every videos in its home or useless storage view where its shows every folder in device.
So eventually i come back to MX. But PIP is too usefull. I may need to try some other video players.
