Does anybody know if the alcatel 5020a can flash roms marked 5020e or 5020x?? As far as i know the only difference is that the 5020x is dual sim, whilst both the 5020a and 5020e are single sim (i think).

Try going into settings and find Region and Language settings change it to English.
Don't think Rooting will work to change the language.
Well its in English. But there's random Chinese apps.

I successfully rooted my phicomm phone using Motofail. Works without problems at the second try. The first one wasn't succcessfully. Gingerbreak doesn't work because the exploits its using are not available using Android 2.3.7 which is the base of the phicomm ROM.
I'm trying to purchase this phone somewhere online and can't find it anywhere other than the phicomm website. It doesn't have a price listed. Where did you purchase yours? And are you using it on Tmobile 3g, 4g HSPA? Also, were you able to root it to remove the Asian stuff? Thanks.
Motofail == does the job

Try to flash the roms first...
If you find any bugs then just report it to the rom dev...
Corect me if I'm wrong, but every custom rom has its own plus n minus due to its system by itself..
If you don't want to had any bugs then you shouldn't flash any...

I'm wondering what is the benefit to using a custom ROM on the Atrix 2? I've been eyeballing the dirty unicorn ROM, but honestly the stock ROM seems to work well enough. With my kindle fire it was an obvious choice as I hated the stock ROM, but other than a few missing features the Atrix 2 seems just fine. What's you guys thoughts?

more options, less bloatware, runs faster, and more stable, actual suupport that you dont get from motorola.
along with a cleaner look, but thats all opinion.
Basically the same reason for all devices. Stock just sucks.

If you like stock ICS, but are considering a custom ROM then you should try NUMA.
It's still ICS, but it's a huge upgrade from the Motorola ICS, and because it is stock based it's the only custom ROM that has all the hardware features working. That said, since the breakthrough with Kexec, I have flashed every JB ROM here and they're all great in their own respects. My advice to you would be to try them all. You're sure to find one that suits your needs.

Couple of more questions, first up: what's Kexec? Next: if I flash a custom is it possible to go back stock? Last up: does flashing a ROM effect your unlock status? I would hate to lose that.

My knowledge of Kexec is limited but my understanding is that it is a way to load a custom kernel on top of the stock kernel. This is needed because the locked bootloader prevents us from simply overwriting the stock kernel.
Yes you can flash the FXZ via RSD lite to return to stock. You'll need to find the FXZ that is specific to you're phone ESPECIALLY if it is an AT&T branded phone. Just make sure you know your phone's model number and firmware version so you can find the correct FXZ.
No, flashing a ROM will not have any effect on your carrier unlock, and neither will flashing an FXZ.

Just did some looking at numa. Looks good on paper, I like Ics so I don't think I'll upgrade to jellybean anytime soon. So numa it is when I decide to flash. But it looks like I need to do my homework on flashing the Atrix 2. that locked bootloader seems to be a pain. I don't need a bricked device.
Sent from my MB865 using xda app-developers app
Honestly if you follow flashing instructions in the op of rom threads, chances are very slim that you will brick. Soft brick, maybe, but those are easy to recover from. My rule of thumb, titanium backup everything before flashing a rom,

Just flashed numa and I'm very happy with it so far. It seems to be really stable so far, and allot of the extras are nice. Like the toggles in the notification bar. Thank you everyone for taking the time to answer my questions, it really helped.

If you can not answer these types of questions on your own then you have no business flashing anything as you will most likely get yourself in trouble. What you need to do is read, read, read, read, and read and learn the answers to these questions for yourself. All the information you need is readily available and easy to find you just have to look for it. Step by step instructions are listed in the op of every ROM so there is no need to repost them all here. The only short cuts with this phone almost always lead directly to bricked phones. Also, "best ROM" inquiries not allowed because the answers are subject to user experience and therefore varies from user to user. What is good for me may not be good for you.

You probably flashed the ROM which had to be flashed only via BMM. Do an fxz and flash ROM using BMM.
Btw which ROM did you flash?

You can only flash GB ROMs if your stock firmware is GB. If your stock firmware is ICS, you can flash any ICS or jb ROM. That's probably what your issue is. Just reflash your FXZ, root, install Boot Menu Manager and try one of the ICS or JB ROMs. Make sure you read the instructions thoroughly this time to avoid any more problems.

Is boot menu manager compatible with GB stock ROM..... I saw a video tutorial they said its only for ICS or JB

I doubt it. If you're on GB then you probably need this instead:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606257
And if you are on GB, then you can only flash the ROMs that are meant for GB. They are kind of old, though, and no longer supported.

General curiosity, thanks anyways

Hey guys, especially the devs out there!
I am just curious if it is possible to flash a rom with this format:
For example, I have a Huawei Honor 3c that has the stock rom; (V100R001C900B127)..... And I want to flash another stock rom which is purposely for another phone model like Huawei Ascend, Samsung Galaxy S5, etc...
Is it possible to flash a stock rom which is purposely for another device into my device?
I'm just curious... Thanks in advance [emoji1] [emoji1]

Yes it is.
But before you flash another rom to your device. First we have to make both of them friends.
Before flashing any rom for another chipset. You have to port that rom to your chipset and then flash it.
Many guids are there on this topic and all of them are reliable if you follow them carefulley. And they works also
