Hey guys,
So a few days ago I flashed the flashable version of Google's Android L OS and it's great! Today I stretched my love by purchasing a Google Chromecast (from a Australian retailer due to living in Australia!) And a major selling point was the fact that I could now mirror my device! But this function doesn't seem to work as demonstrated at the I/O or anywhere else! Is this function still in development for Android L or am I missing something?
Keep in mind streaming YouTube has no issue, just mirror!
Thanks in advance!

As far as I know that's still being developed on L. The Chromecast however is a wonderful device. I have 2 of them myself congrats on your purchase. L is a nice OS but it does have plenty of bugs. The basic Android functions work well but rooted apps caused a bootloop and half of the apps crash. I HIGHLY recommend not using it as a primary driver, and instead install MultiROM if you haven't already.
Seeing a stupid comment on Google Play about an app you love and marking it as "spam". You've done it too.
Thanks for the reply. I am using as daily driver Haha and no problems so far I'm currently using 1 rooted app (adaway) and everything seems fine
Very happy with results and will check out multiROM now

Hey Guys,
i'd like to introduce the first and only indie mediaplayer for android - dreamZMP3!
dreamZMP3 was first released in February 2012 and has been improved since permanently. The current version (1.2.7) is almost bugfree but still gets improved updates weekly.
The basic idea of dreamzMP3 is that user can co-decide on the further development process and can contribute their ideas.
For this purpose there will soon be the forum back online (i got some problems with my subdomainhoster, deleting my last forum, so there will be a "real" domain hosted) where users can discuss and suggest features.
At this time there is just the Facebook-Page online where this can be done.
Further more there will also be the Dev-Blog back online on Tumblr this time, where i'll document the development process.
If you'd like to support me in developing apps for android (i've plenty of game ideas ) i would be delighted if you have a look on dreamZMP3 (the Beta Version is FREE).

Found this through the Facebook page: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00771I11A
As much as I wanted to try the app out, UI is incredibly important to me and this app definitely needs an overhaul in the UI department (assuming the screenshots from that amazon link is the app in current form).
Here are all relevant links:

The UI has been improved permanently (yes earlyer versions looked more bad ).
Currently i do the graphics using Photoshop but sooner or later i want to implement a real 3D OGL Interface.
Was lagging and force closed several times on SGSIII running JB. Plus it needs to read folders.

Hmm, sounds strange... If you can tell me where it force closes i'll have a look at the code. Normally it should not lag on a SGSIII because the SGSIII CPU should handle dreamZMP3 with no problems (the weakest test device i use is a Xperia X8 with 600 Mhz). I'm still working on a Folder Browser and probably implement a "alpha folder browser" (a simple file browser) in one of the next updates (would be complicated implementing a Folder Browser in the existing MediaBrowser).

Hi All
I am new here so please bare with me.
I have a Samsung Note 10.1 Model GT-N8010 running Android 4.1.2
I was under the impression that the new update (4.1.2) would allow the ability to setup a 2nd user profile.
I can not seem to find the setup process.
If someone can help I would be grateful.
Many Thanks
I think you need to wait for 4.2.1 for multi-user.

No Waiting Buddy, be Happy.
you can use SwitchMe ( Root Required)
available on Google Play Store
Jb 4.2 isn't available from Samsung yet. Even if it was, i wouldn't touch it. The latest update to JB 4.2 still hasn't fixed the bluetooth issue that Google introduced with 4.2. Breaking bluetooth was a pretty bad coding glitch and releasing it to the public just plain sloppy. At times, Google looks as bad as MS.
I think your right, thanks for the help.

I have owned various android products but never rooted one. The idea of a 400.00 pound brick frightens me lol!
Thanks

My name is Stijn I'm from Holland and this is my second Android phone. Before i bought my s4 I had a HTC desire. I had the desire for three years after it started to act up when getting hot. Found out this was a hardware defect and decided to buy the s4. I havev the i9505 with the snapdragon soc.
First of I was a bit disappointed about the smoothness of the phone. Animations where not all that smooth and I experienced lag using the phone in general. I was surprised however about the possibilities It presented out of the box. The video player for example has the option to play content on your smart tv . This worked great for me. I like the keyboard, the toggles in the drop down notification panel, and was not as bothered with touch wiz as I expected to be coming from CM on my desire. Also the watchon app that can act as a remote for your tv is cool.
So when opting for a custom rom I chose a stock based rom. Omega v3 was the one I went for.
It simple enough to flash when you follow instructions, but a bit of a hassle as you have to flash a stock firmware first. Lots to download!
Strait after flashing i noticed a big difference. Almost all lag was gone. Then I desided to flash a custom kernel. I went for fauxes as I used his kernel on my n7 and liked it.
After this I had the phone I wanted all along performance wise. No lag and blazing fast. Both the rom and kernel allow you a lot of tweak lots of stuff to make it act the way you want to. Worth mentioning is the app omega files that comes with the rom. It was updated yesterday and it gives you lots of freedom to change anything in the rom, from themes and mods to actual kernels that are compatible with the rom. Great stuff!
I also installed the 3 minit framework mod found in the android dev section. Man this app is great. It let's you change a lot of ui components on the fly with a well designed app that comes with the mod. Things like statusbar color, icons and many more are now under my control. And the dev is expanding the mod as we speak. You can make feature requests in the corresponding thread and they are implemented really quickly. Keep it UP Gharrington!
Also installed an app from the market wich allows for every app to be runned in multi Window mode. Nice.
I also bought the samsung mhl cable . It works great but the fact by our can't turn the screen of the phone of while it's displaying your android on the TV is annoying. Of course there is a root app that gives you this possibility. Yey to root.
Things I would like to test are miracast or allshare wireless screen mirroring and the dock with hdmi and usb ports.
Let me know what your experience is with your custom or stock rom and what you do with your phone.

My first post at XDA, for my new simple camera app called PicPac Camera.
This app packs your live shots into one picture for easy sharing.
Share more with multiple shots. More interesting, more content.
Share less with only one picture. Less upload, less time to view.
See picpac.me for more details.
Sorry for no links and no big images. New user cannot use those.
---------------------------------- How I develop PicPac Camera -------------------------------------------------
Since this forum is for developers, I will first share how I built this app so far.
PhD student - I am a last-year PhD student, and this is probably my last work before finding a job.
40 hours - This app takes a few weekends to finish, about 40 hours.
Free and ad included - It is a utility app and it is free, so I put an ad at the share screen which may give me a few cents a week:fingers-crossed:
Two modes - It has two modes, TRIO and PLUS. Trio takes 3 shots, and Plus takes 1 to 9 shots.
App name - PicPac Camera ~ pac your pics
Domain name - picpac.me Cost me $9.99 a year.
Website - picpac.me . Hosted on strikingly.com for FREE! And just let Godaddy forward picpac.me to strinkingly (for now). Setting up the website only takes me 1 - 2 hours, including preparing the images for the website. Super easy for fast release.
----------------------------------- Why I develop PicPac Camera ------------------------------------------------
TRIO was inspired by Triptychs of Strangers by Adde Adesokan at Flickr. These photos are really cool.
See the last attached image
Then I extended it to support up-to-9 shots (PLUS mode) in case people want to share more.
----------------------------------- PicPac Camera Screenshots ------------------------------------------------
See the attached images.
----------------------------------- Please help me to test it and share it ------------------------------------------------

Sorry to hear that, and thanks for the heads up.
I have already got NOT-WORKING feedback from users of Droid DNA, PantechP8010, and Note 2.
This is bad but it is good for a first-time developer like me to realize how important it is to test on more devices...
I tested it on Nexus 4, and a very old HTC Desire.
Can anyone give me some suggestions on this? Any online services you can recommend?
Thank you all!

I found a stupid and fatal mistake. I added "mCamera.enableShutterSound(true); " (for API 17 or above, i.e. OS 4.2+) in my last revision, and the eclipse/Lint did not give me warning or errors. MY MISTAKE.
Have updated the apk and attach it here (the google play store takes hours to update...)
Can anyone help me to further test it. I think there may still be some out-of-memory error for some devices, but fingers crossed fingers-crossed:

Hey there everyone! Chromecast app was recently updated to give certain Android devices the ability to mirror your mobile device screen to your Chromecast device. M7 is supported in the official list but not the M8. The app is beta and available here for download http://gappsearly.com/google-apps/chromecast/summary/33-chromecast/124-chromecast.html
If you have a backup of your current Chromecast app and want to test it out please post feedback. I'm on vacation and won't be able to test it out for a few weeks but curious if it works with M8. Thanks in advance to anybody brave enough to give it a try.
Note also the article indicates GPE and you should restart your Chromecast device for it to work as intended. Sense users take note and please post the ROM you are trying this with.

I installed the 1.7.4 ver on gpe and it didn't work.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
It doesn't work with the M8 yet which is why it's not in the list of supported devices.
Thanks for testing it out. I have one of these http://airtame.com/ on the way once it's ready. Looks pretty sweet, won a few awards at CES in Vegas this year. A bit more expensive than Chromecast but appears to be more versatile.
You can enable the M8 for this here:

Just FYI #mirrorEnabler is working well for me on Venom 1.8.0. So GPE is not a requirement.

Hi Matt,
I suggest you try this new screen casting device available as a software download at Zoapi Hub.
Have to install the Hub software on Intel NUC box and connect it to TV. It supports simultaneous connections from different networks, like Wifi, Wifi-Ap, Ethernet, etc.,
Also has duel screen support with different windows on different TVs. It's also integrated to Logitech Tap device.
