+++ 2013.09.24: Reduce 66% of memory usage, added camera shutter sound. V1.02.
+++ 2013.09.24. Found the bug report from Developer concole! Fix more bugs, V1.03.
Please install it and test it on your device. If it still crashes, please use the feedback button in the Settings to notify me. I will be grateful for you help.
****** If the system ask you to send the crash report, please do so to help me fix bugs. THANK YOU ******
VERY SORRY for the inconvenience, and forgive me as a first-time developer.
*************** END WARNING **************
My first post at XDA, for my new simple camera app called PicPac Camera.
This app packs your live shots into one picture for easy sharing.
Share more with multiple shots. More interesting, more content.
Share less with only one picture. Less upload, less time to view.
See picpac.me for more details.
Sorry for no links and no big images. New user cannot use those.
---------------------------------- How I develop PicPac Camera -------------------------------------------------
Since this forum is for developers, I will first share how I built this app so far.
PhD student - I am a last-year PhD student, and this is probably my last work before finding a job.
40 hours - This app takes a few weekends to finish, about 40 hours.
Free and ad included - It is a utility app and it is free, so I put an ad at the share screen which may give me a few cents a week:fingers-crossed:
Two modes - It has two modes, TRIO and PLUS. Trio takes 3 shots, and Plus takes 1 to 9 shots.
App name - PicPac Camera ~ pac your pics
Domain name - picpac.me Cost me $9.99 a year.
Website - picpac.me . Hosted on strikingly.com for FREE! And just let Godaddy forward picpac.me to strinkingly (for now). Setting up the website only takes me 1 - 2 hours, including preparing the images for the website. Super easy for fast release.
----------------------------------- Why I develop PicPac Camera ------------------------------------------------
TRIO was inspired by Triptychs of Strangers by Adde Adesokan at Flickr. These photos are really cool.
See the last attached image
Then I extended it to support up-to-9 shots (PLUS mode) in case people want to share more.
----------------------------------- PicPac Camera Screenshots ------------------------------------------------
See the attached images.
----------------------------------- Please help me to test it and share it ------------------------------------------------

It is actually on the play store (have modified the original post). But I am a new user so the system does not allow me to put links outside XDA

The apk is for people who live in regions without Play Store access. Haha. It is also a requirement for app review at XDA.

Sorry to hear that, and thanks for the heads up.
I have already got NOT-WORKING feedback from users of Droid DNA, PantechP8010, and Note 2.
This is bad but it is good for a first-time developer like me to realize how important it is to test on more devices...
I tested it on Nexus 4, and a very old HTC Desire.
Can anyone give me some suggestions on this? Any online services you can recommend?
Thank you all!

I found a stupid and fatal mistake. I added "mCamera.enableShutterSound(true); " (for API 17 or above, i.e. OS 4.2+) in my last revision, and the eclipse/Lint did not give me warning or errors. MY MISTAKE.
Have updated the apk and attach it here (the google play store takes hours to update...)
Can anyone help me to further test it. I think there may still be some out-of-memory error for some devices, but fingers crossed fingers-crossed:

[V1.2 available now]HiddenEye - Awesome app to catch your phone snoopers red handed !

New Version 1.2 now available...
What's in this version:
* Improved photo capture method.
* Larger images
* Bug fixes
* Performance improvements
* Reduced file size (now only 570KB)
Ever wanted to know who has tried snooping into your phone while you were away. Your friends or family member might have tried to unlock your phone while you are away. HiddenEye is a simple app with no frills that will photograph the person when they try to unlock your phone. You can set it to sound alarm when a user tries to unlock your phone without your knowledge.
Now you can see who is trying to use your phone while you are away. Once you unlock your phone, you will be shown the photographs of the people who tried unlocking your phone in your absence. Sounds interesting ! Try it and let us know if you have any suggestion to improve it further.
Worried that your phone does not have front camera. With HiddenEye, now you can know the someone has tried to snoop into your phone. You can also set alarm if someone is trying to unlock your phone with wrong password. If you have a front camera, then you can see who tried unlocking your phone.
Download this FREE now from Google Play

Some feedback from my GT-N7000 Galaxy Note on ICS + Speedmod kernal,
Sometimes when imputed a correct pattern after an incorrect one quickly enough, the pic will appear black.
Pictures appear sideways on my phone, it went 90 degrees clockwise.
Deleting photos still show them. (some cache?)
Well, quite minor, the app is featherweight and does its job without glitz.
Will love to know where is the output of photos taken (maybe I can set up a sync to Dropbox via Dropsync).
Thanks for this amazing app.

Thank you Markuzy for your feedback. There is newer version (v1.01) that has this picture issue fixed. It should not show without 90 rotate. Let me know if it happens again after the update.
About the delete issue, thanks for pointing it out. Let me check and fix it.
The pictures are not stored on the file system, its in the app database, hence you cannot view it directly from any other viewer. Intention was to keep the images secure. About dropbox, i can add that sync option in one of the next releases. Thank you for your opinion.

[APP] Google Now Alternative - Maluuba

I'm currently running the latest JB MiUi which I thought would have a working Google Now app, negative. Today I came across this baby, Maluuba which is an alternative to just that!
Direct Link - Maluuba v.1.0.3 (thanks frenzyboi)
I've tried it out for myself and love it!
It's even better than Google Now in my opinion.
Have fun, hit thanks

Hey, glad you found our app! You're right, that would sketch me out too, we definitely don't share your google contacts with anyone ! Here's a post that explain what we actually do with all the permissions, but i'll look at getting our privacy policy updated asap to reflect that!
Just started playing with this today. Very nice work. And thank you. Not sure it's a replacement for for my g-now, but it is certainly a nice addition to it. Thanks again.
Very nice.....
I like this app byw Google now...

[APP][2.3+] dreamZMP3 - the first and only indie mediaplayer for android

Hey Guys,
i'd like to introduce the first and only indie mediaplayer for android - dreamZMP3!
dreamZMP3 was first released in February 2012 and has been improved since permanently. The current version (1.2.7) is almost bugfree but still gets improved updates weekly.
The basic idea of dreamzMP3 is that user can co-decide on the further development process and can contribute their ideas.
For this purpose there will soon be the forum back online (i got some problems with my subdomainhoster, deleting my last forum, so there will be a "real" domain hosted) where users can discuss and suggest features.
At this time there is just the Facebook-Page online where this can be done.
Further more there will also be the Dev-Blog back online on Tumblr this time, where i'll document the development process.
If you'd like to support me in developing apps for android (i've plenty of game ideas ) i would be delighted if you have a look on dreamZMP3 (the Beta Version is FREE).

Hmm, sounds strange... If you can tell me where it force closes i'll have a look at the code. Normally it should not lag on a SGSIII because the SGSIII CPU should handle dreamZMP3 with no problems (the weakest test device i use is a Xperia X8 with 600 Mhz). I'm still working on a Folder Browser and probably implement a "alpha folder browser" (a simple file browser) in one of the next updates (would be complicated implementing a Folder Browser in the existing MediaBrowser).
so long MiKe

[APP] CineDroid Pro Video Camera

I've just made an app that exposes more pro like functions for use of the Camera API for video. I currently have it on the play store but it seems to crash on entry with Samsung devices. This was developed and tested on a One S T-Mobile US phone. I've personally tried the app on a buddies Note II and have one crash logcat on the developer console for a Samsung SIII although I've reordered the code at the stated line number. I will rename the app to Beta since these issues are present. If anyone with another 4.0.4+ device besides the One S can test this app to generate a crash or even reply to this post with a logcat it would be greatly appreciated.

Not very promising, maybe take it off Google Play Store until it's confirmed to work and on which devices also suggest u get people with different devices to test it and report back to u cuz ur not going to get good feedback until u do this properly (just saying)
HTC One S/HaloBlackBaked 1.4
Yea, I would definately pull it from the Store, so you won't get a bunch of bad reviews...post the app here, and in some Samsung forums also, so that we (the development community) can help. The Store is a bad place to post Beta stuff, because a ton of n00bs are gonna do nothing but bash your app.

I took the advice and unpublished for now. I've included the last apk I've uploaded. I have a feeling some custom camera parameters are coming up null when checking for them. A camera.parameters text file should be generated in a custom sdcard folder named CineDroid on start. Please post if you get that far in using the app. Thanks.

Interesting. I see a few missing custom parameters and the S3 camera driver seems to limit the frame rates more conservatively. Definitely a cause to the crash with my current code. Thanks Shug69 for the file!

[ROM][MIUI/PA][HALO][4.2.2] Crystallized ROM [UPDATE 6/28]

Hello. May I present to you the single most amazing ROM present on XDA. A combination of the two most customizable ROMs existent. And it wasn't even built from source. I must give credit where credit is due by thanking jb2kred for PA for tate and the MIUI team for their great customizations... Screenshots in next post. ToDo and Bugs in third post.
I used the MiHome application from the MIUI team for the launcher and included the AppDrawer for MIUI application from the Google Play Store for your convenience. Also thanks to apooonet (here at XDA) for the ported MIUI Notes app.
And here is the link to download.
The update on 6/28 includes a better MIUI theme and added HALO.
After you flash, apply the theme in settings to get the same experince pictured in the screenshots.
I added the "Pro7o Toolbox" app (I made it )to assist with audio issues. Just open Pro7o Toolbox and hit "Quick Reboot". Audio problems solved!
Note: For GApps, just use PA GApps.

You are welcome.
Indeed, at your age you took the same path as me, let's hope you can get much further than I did though!!
I'll flash it over the weekend as I have a wedding to go to, but will let you know any oddities (if any) I find using it. (T)

Okay. Thanks for letting me know! I'll try to fix up an update by the end of tomorrow. Eliminating large update files will turn out being fun.
How I plan on doing it:
For those who installed the ROM already, each update you will need to download a small (few mb) update that you will flash over the ROM and it would minimize the time needed to update.
For those without, just download ROM and update, flash in that order.
EDIT: Disregard this post. TWRP is serving me errors on a plate. I will have to resort the standard method of updating ROMs.

I'm not positive, but I believe it has something to do with the microphone only partially working.

Sorry if this is a noobish question, only ever used miui once very briefly a while back. So you'll get all the PA customizations and then what other customizations? Sorry, been quite a while since I used miui

You get the PA Pie Menu, along with statusbar and navigationbar coloring per-app, changing the dpi per-app, and allowing the lockscreen and homescreen to be themed with ".mtz" files. Hope I helped
