HELP - General Questions and Answers

Hi I accidentally deleted my GT-s5300 backup for CWM I need that some would create it to me. I don't need your data or anything if you like you can format data and then do the backup (before do a backup of your data) and then send it to me somehow (we will figure that out), but if you don't know what I'm talking about here and if you have gt-s5300 don't be like "I don't know I'm coming home" I'll teacht you how to do it

Just download a ROM for your device. Boot it into recovery, then adb push the zom.zip to your phone. Wipe the data and flash ROM.

[Q] Phone doesn't boot

Yesterday i preformed a hot reboot because my phone was not installing apps correctly. I used the app Hot Reboot. When i looked at my phone again this morning it was still booting! I took the battery out and back again and pressed the power button. But how i try it keeps booting all the time! I can get into all boot modes but i don't want to flash a whole new rom 'cause i haven't backup all my stuff... What can I do? Will this be solved with flashing for example a new kernel or anything wich doen't reset my phone? I'd really appreciatie help!
Try clearing the cache and the dalvik cache in recovery, if that doesn't work tho you will most likley have to do a full wipe and re-install your rom.

Tnx but my phone still keeps on booting after wiping cache. Is there maybe a way to backup all my system 'n data files using adb or something?
It also happened to me this morning...u may again flash your device with the stock roms (froyo or gingerbread) again by using Odin Multi downloader...first power off the phone..then hold volume down+home+power on
To bring into download mode
Then flash the roms...it should restart....at least worked for me

Go into recovery mode and then go to backup and restore and then select backup. It usually takes a little while backing up the system so be patient.

I don't have clockworkmod recovery. Can I just flash the latest version of g3mod (wich involves cwmrecovery)? Doesn't it reset my phone if I flash that?
But are there no possibilities using adb? Because i run one of the first g3mod kernels...

Just flash the latest G3MOD kernel and use the CWM from that. It won't wipe any data whatsoever but if you get force closes it is recommended that you wipe the data from CWM. I don't really know how to use ADB but i think rudolf895 has a tutorial on youtube. Google 'rudolf895' and find his video that is called how to make your own custom ROM.

I would recommend that you flash a new rom and then wipe everything including sd card and sd ext if you get any more troubles

Recovery verified failed ??

Hello A510 owners,
After playing with patching google store using lucky patcher, my tablet start to bootloop...I was on Piccolo Rom,so I just flashed the rom again (wiped everything that could be wiped), but didn't worked, still bootloop...So I said to myself, let's make a fresh and clean install and get back to stock. I've download a stock rom, put it on my external SD Card and flashed it in CWN. I got a warning like I won't have recovery anymore after flashing but accept anyway, and start to flash...Tablet reboot and this is what I get :
Code:
erasing cache before sd update
SD update cmd : recovery
--update_package=SDCARD : update.zip
booting recovery kernel image
[COLOR="Red"]Recovery verified failed[/COLOR]
Then, I tried many stock rom I could find on the internet, still same error. I even tried with removing first line of the updater-script, nothing work...and I can't use adb anymore to push cwn again.
Any idea ? I really need help here ! :crying:
I guess u might flash the stock n still kept the cwm, so u can't enter the cwm anymore 'coz the bootloader was locked back.
Maybe u can try to unlock first, or u can consider to rewrite the recovery partition.
Rename update.zip to something different, CMW may not accept "command line" flashing.
Anyway if you can boot CMW (rename update.zip first!)
a) wipe dalvik-cache (under Advanced) and try to boot
b)if this fails- wipe data/cache (factory reset)
THX guys, I don't know how but I just format everything and reinstall cwn+rom, and it worked... I just lose all my datas on sdcard:'(

[Q] Recovering data after a wipe

I've unlocked the bootloader on a HTC Desire 510. This triggered a wipe. Afterwards, I wiped the system using the recovery. I had some photos on the internal SD card that I need to recover ASAP. Currently, the phone doesn't have any ROM, and I can only access it through fastboot and adb (adb in Phillz recovery). I've tried pulling the images from /sdcard/DCIM, but it doesn't pull anything, saying that no files are there.
I'm thinking of running photorec on the phone, but since it's the internal SD card, I can't mount it to the PC from the recovery. I thought of putting a ROM .zip on an sdcard and flash it, but I'm afraid that a flash would make recovery impossible. Is there a way I can dump the internal sdcard image just through fastboot and adb? Any ideas would also be most welcome.

flashing a new ROM.zip will only delete everything for sure.
I'm sory to say it, but by my knowledge there's only one way to recover them, and that's by recovering a backup on recovery mode.
I hope you did make a backup before unlocking your bootloader. If you didn't, I think there's not very much you can do :s
anyway, please remember to ALWAYS make a recovery backup before doing anything in recovery.

What kind of backup??
For a nadroid backup you need a custom recovery, and to flash a custom recovery you need a unlocked bootloader...

Yes, AFTER I unlocked the bootloader. There were all in all two wipes, although the second one was only /data and /cache.
I did a backup using adb, but to my knowledge, that's only a backup of the apps and their data.
When you unlock a bootloader phone, you lose everything, including photos, musics, etc.
Do you have a backup of your files?
Sorry bad english
If I were you, I would restore the backup with adb and see if you have your photo's back.
Otherwise I have no idea for how you can restore them sory...

Why does nobody read my OP? I said the phone doesn't currently have a ROM on it. I can't restore that backup.
I'm going to flash busybox, a 300kb zip file that probably won't overwrite too much data, and use dd to get what I need.
If you have an adb backup of your files in the pc, you can extract it and get your photos back

Ive tried that 4 times till now. It has been in a bootloop thrice. And I flashed stock. I currently am using stock firmware but want to flash the custom rom. The recovery is failing to wipe data because it is failing to mount data.

Try this
1. Reboot to recovery (TWRP)
2. Select wipe.
3. Select advanced wipe.
4. Check system.
5. Repair or change file system.
6. Select change file system.
7. Select format type.
8. Swipe to change.
9. Select repair.
there is one problem with stock rom. its encrypts the data partition right after installing stock rom, therefore twrp can't access data partition. i had similar problem earlier. this is how i managed to fix.
solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67980158&postcount=7
i suggest you to stick with stock rom, because right now whatever roms or recoveries are made for this phone are blindly ported (just copy paste roms). i have tried about 3-4 roms for this phone, all had major bugs especially battery related. there is only one developer who made a stable rom so far is beingtejas, search his thread. if you really want to use a custom rom, try THIS rom made by gaurav kesarwani with help of beingtejas that is why i am suggesting it you otherwise it didn't worked for me atleast.

TWRP question

Hi,
Does installing TWRP wipe the personal data after it get installed on the device for the first time ?
Many Thanks to all of you
It shouldn't delete personal data. TWRP is recovery partition, it doesn't deal with the userdata partition. However, some tools used for flashing the TWRP might have an option to completely re-format your phone, so make sure that setting is unchecked. If anything, make a backup of your phone prior to doing this.

Many thanks for you help. actually I can not backup any thing, that is all my actual problem. I can not access to the android OS, but can access the recovery and download mode. Someone suggested to backup all the data from twrp before trying wipping all the phone ... what do you think about that ? Is it a good workarround so I can recover a functionning phone with all my data ?
Many thanks
Edit: I plan to use heimdall to flash the twrp recovery mode on the phone.

It depends on the phone. If it is Samsung, just flash the same firmware on top of the device using odin and make sure the re-partition is not checked. Or if you can access recovery mode, try hooking it up to the computer and use adb shell to locate your files and pull them off the device.
