Tab S 8.4 Cases - Galaxy Tab S Accessories

I wanted to mention that B&H Photo Video has the Samsung Booklet Case for $43 where it retails elsewhere for $59 and Samsung's simple case is $24 that retails for $39.

Belkin trifold case
I picked up the Belkin trifold case. Not my favorite by any stretch but there are not many choices out there. Here is my review.

I bought the one made by Samsung for the 8.4 and it is by far the best case I have ever had for a tablet. Barely increases the thickness compared to other cases, extremely light and very easy to use for propping up and installing. Granted it is more expensive than the others but I think it is worth it.

I too bought the same case and pretty much confirming this exact same review.
I've never experienced a case of this high quality before. Really impressed by Samsung here. :good:

It gives it a very professional and polished look. My co-workers are very jealous... hehe.

Get the Book Cover. I was torn at first. I liked the idea of the case as a stand but was afraid it would be too bulky. It is not. It is very thin and light and I see no use in getting the Simple Cover. To each his own however.

The Samsung covers looked great but I think they don't provide the protection I would want for a device that does a lot of traveling. I have decided to buy two generic cases. I chose styles that I have used in the past and have found the quality to be good and the prices are right
1) A generic fake leather cover for rough travel.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L6MGAH8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
2) A slim style for around the house. I like these because they consist of a plastic shell that completely protects the body of the tablet and it's easy to remove (Unlike the Samsung case)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L6M1UNW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Now I just need a tempered glass screen protector and I will be all set.

I looked at both of those. I got a Samsung cover for my Note 10.1 long ago and it was wonderful, so I got the book cover for the 8.4, despite the hefty price. I thought the flap might be a nuisance, but it's not been a problem. This is the all around best case for fit, weight, protection. Handy to have the screen cut off when you cover it.

I received a free Samsung case when I bought the Tab S. I really think it looks great but what I didn't like was how stiff it was to attach and separate. I also felt that the case seemed flimsy unless the cover is latched around the front. If you dropped the tablet, when attached to the Samsung case, and it's not securely closed the cover would open and the table would be exposed. The cheap cases I ordered may not be as classy but they completely protect the tablet body (within reason). I I'll just keep the Samsung case for when I eventually sell (or give to a relative) this tablet. For under $20 I was able to buy both cases and when they wear out or get dirty I'll spend another 20 to buy two more.

I agree with the comments on the book cover case. Too expensive and not enough protection.

I picked up the book cover and it seems like it will work well. I may return it and go without a cover. I honestly do not have much use for a cover. DirecTV accidental damage protection covers my tablet with a $50 deductible. Cheaper then a Samsung case in the fist place.

Just picked up the titanium book cover. I haven't like Samsung covers in the past but this is a very nice case. I agree it's way too expensive, but I had a 50% off from Samsung from my note 3. It's very slim and fairly light(though definitely adds weight). The magnets are super strong, and the folding positions are nice. Yes it's hard to unsnap, but I found if you stick a finger in the middle and sludge left or right it comes out ok. No issues snapping in.
my only gripe is the flap when closed actually isn't tight across the screen and if you squeeze the edges it opens a bit. Not a big deal.

Top Case
Fits perfectly! Far better "Book case" than the ones for the other Samsung Tablets!

I ordered it over the weekend in white after eye balling it for a week. I like minimalistic cases like tpu and silicone but wanted something more durable since the note will be traveling with me on vacation, this seems to be the perfect compromise of size and toughness. It reminds me of the Casemate Tough Case I have for my S2. If no one already posts it ill put up some pictures when I receive it.

I considered that case, however, it is only available in black, and since the Note 8.0 is my first dance with a white device, I wanted a case that accented it nicely. The one I posted looks sharp with the black rubber around the white plastic. My tracking number shows it is in NY. Hope to get it by Saturday.

I had a rough time getting good snaps as I took them on my cell phone in a rather dark room. oh well. I tried to show all the ports and things that were in the case.
This thing makes my Note 8.0 feel 100% better in the hand. It's a very sharp case, and adds great character to the tablet. I'm glad I chose this one.
so, the tablet goes inside the rubber first, then the hard shell goes over it?
is the rubber nice and snug, or is it kinda loose?
looks nice!:good:

It's one piece. It's a bit flexible without the tablet in it, but you cannot bend it much past flexing the corners. The plastic back adds the rigidity. You just snap the tablet into the entire piece.
I will state that it doesn't afford hardly ANY top protection to the device. If you laid it on it's face on a table, there is approximately 3/32" of rubber between the tablet and the table. But the rest of the device seems very secure.
It truly is one of the nicest cases I have ever seen for any electronic device. It really changes the appearance and the way you handle the Note 8.0.

Glad to hear it's working out. Mine shows processed in NY 7/7/2013 so hopefully I'll get it soon but I'm a little worried because of no updates. Do you have a screen protector on your note? I have the SGP Ultra Clear and hope that the rubber lip will not interfere with it.

I don't use screen protectors. Especially on a device with an S-pen
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 on ATT LTE
I've had the case for a few days now and have been loving it. The First Class does fit super snug around the edges of the screen, so much so that my screen protector started to come up in a few areas. I had to massage those areas that were being raised and the SGP protector slipped under the case. The extra rubber on the ends helps when holding in landscape mode, it gives a nice gripping area that keeps you from accidentally hitting the capacitive buttons. It's very easy to pop off and on but I really don't see myself taking it out much, I like the Note better with the case on.

It's a REALLY nice case. It compliments the Note well. I have already had a number of people ask what it is and how cool it looks.
I ordered one of these on Monday. Although since they are coming from South Korea, it will take weeks before it arrives. I cant wait just hope my note 8.0 doesn't get beat up too much while i wait. In the meantime I'm gonna dive into some rom development.

Mine showed up in about 2 weeks.
Just got mine. Ordered it on the 7th arrived today on the 24th. Initial impressions are good.I like the raised volume and power keys. The other cut outs are deep. There is no slot of sim card, which might be a problem for people who swap sims out. The case adds a good amount of extra bezel to the device. This comes in a form of hard rubber. It makes it really reassuring that the phone is safe. Only problem is if the phone falls flat on its face there isn't that much rubber to protect it.
Overall best case I could find for the device. Highly recommended but be prepared for the long shipping time.

Nice review. To condense it:

Early impressions were that people didn't like the snap method of affixing the case but I didn't have any issue with it and I like it.
My major criticism is with the edges of the case which have a raw, unfinished feel to them. If the cases were leather I would expect those edges to soften up with time but with this poly material, I don't know.
A major plus is that the cover doesn't add much bulk.
I had a difficult time finding a cover in my city. The one (the only one) a local Best Buy was carrying wasn't even in the Samsung section. The Samsung employees couldn't find it. I found it -- It was laying flat on a generic shelf labeled "tablet essentials".
Go figure.
I'm waiting on mine from Samsung. com. Is it heavy? Thanks.

My accessories came today including this case and I'll be stalling it tonight after I put on my screen protectors. I love the size and texture of the case, the closure is very strong. It's definitely worth getting over the 3rd party cases.

Not sure what you're asking about magnets. The magnets are strong and once you get used to the folding schemes it easy to switch.
As far as long term wear my only concern is with the snaps. Only time will tell. This is by far the nicest case Samsung has ever made. I have their case for the note 8 and the note 2, never used either one for long. I don't think I'll even look at other cases for this, unless I want one with keyboard.

I was pertaining to the other half of the rear flap that does not attach it's to the rear of the tablet. Doesn't it flop around when holding with one hand since it doesn't have any magnets? I e been looking at reviews of this case (not that much) and everyone is saying it's a really nice cade, pro ably the first case made by Samsung with that high praise. I usually just buy the generic ones from Amazon that have screen on and off function for 8 dollars lol

PURPOSE
Good day, everyone! This is BlackLineAndroidHD here and if you're wondering about what decision you need to make in terms of case buying for your Galaxy S4, you came to the right place. Here I will talk about my impressions and thoughts about Neo Hibrid Case from Spigen. You will be able to quit this thread with a strong opinion about what you should do: BUY THE CASE or GO AND SEARCH ANOTHER ONE.
MAIN THOUGHTS
First thing you will ask yourself before buying a case is : Is it gonna be worth the money? Well, I must admit I recieved this case as a gift for my birthday and I searched the internet to find out what the price actually was. It costs ~35 $ in Romania, 40 with shipping.
After I used it more than 4 months now, I have come with a couple of PROS AND CONS.
PROS
1) The Design and look of the case
---- Here I must say, hands down for the look of this case. It looks terrific, the writing on the back with "13MP", the logo and other minor details caught my eyes.
2) The overall quality and feeling
---- Quality is a must in this "case". I have to admit it feels great in hands. The back is made of some sort of Polycarbonate which gives you a good feeling of security while holding the phone.
3) Comes with Jelly Bean Home Button
---- Now the home button is to be pressed more easily without a miss thanks to the Jelly Bean Home Button which comes with the case.
CONS
1) MAJOR THING TO BE AWARE OF - HEADPHONE JACK
---- There is a major problem with the side part of the case, I mean the colored one which keeps the case stable. In the top left corned there's the 3,5mm jack input for headphones or whatsoever. The fact is that not all headphones can be connected with this case to the device and that's because of the fact that the case itself doesn't let the jack get into position. I explained that into my review down here. Make sure you watch it so there won't be any problems understanding the situation.
2) Back plastic cover
---- Another problem of this case is the back plastic case. It has an advantage of being such secured and gives a great feeling in hand BUT let me tell you something I found out by myself after using this case for a while. I live in Romania, and during summertime temperatures can get over to 40 degrees Celsius. If you keep your phone in pocket, and if you live in a hot area then you will definitely occur my problem. The back plastic case will kind of melt and I advise you to watch my video down here to see what I mean.
3) Power button is suffering from pressing
---- Another disadvantage is the powerbutton of this case which overrides the stock button of the device. After several hundreds pressings or so it gets "used". I don't know if it is Samsung's fault or Spigen's but the fact is that it exists.
Conclusion
I invite you to watch my detailed YouTube Review of this case just to make sure you are ready to build your own opinion about this case. In my opinion this case is good, not excellent but good enough for its price.

I was obsessed with this case in the beginning, until I also began to suffer from the same plastic backing lifting up from the heat/everyday use. It affected the camera when using flash, since the flash would reflect off the inside of the case back into the lens so there would be a flash glare at the bottom of the picture(s). I threw it back into it's packaging and switched to the Spigen slim armor. The slim armor has not let me down yet after a year or so. It's my everyday case.
Good review though. This is a decent case for all around protection with a slim iPhone-looking design. But the material they use for the rubber backing needs another quality control check. I'm sure Spigen is aware of this problem. In fact, I believe they made a newer version of the same case that changed the charging port around, and the TPU material so it doesn't cause the same problems. Have a look here:

The Galaxy S4 Neo Hybrid Series™ is an assembly-type case with a TPU back cover and a polycarbonate frame. The Neo Hybrid is form-fitted to effectively protect your device from external impact. The Galaxy neo Hybrid is designed to highlight the curves of the Galaxy S4. It fits precisely onto the phone for a natural and sleek look. The Galaxy S4 Neo Hybrid is a 2 part case that can be dissembled into a TPU back cover and a polycarbonate frame. The Neo Hybrid uses premium TPU material for extra durability. The TPU back cover will not sag or expand due to heat from the device.

the thin piece of plastic at the power connector is a worry, it breaks very easily rendering the case useless
brian117 said:

Yeah, you are definitely right, but as I said in this review, that's not the only problem that occurs with this case. Summing up it a great case for it's price, but Spigen has a lot more to take in mind or they will start losing their customers.

The cutout is too small for microUSB port. I have HTC and BlackBerry USB cables and none of them would fit without removing the case. As Dan mentioned, the piece of plastic did break on me a few months ago. I am looking to get a new case, but with the TPU warping and the flimsy plastic bumper, I don't know if it deserves a second purchase.

[REVIEW] Rugged Armor Case - Love Mei: Powerful

I arrived at work this morning and I'd received a new case for my Galaxy Note 4 to review! Happy days!
I'm currently dissecting it now and will update this thread later today, but first impressions.... this thing is BIG!
I've personally never seen anything with such heavy duty protection for the Note series, that's not to say they're aren't others, it's just a new one on me.
If you're scared of damaging your device, then this robust looking thing may be right up your street.
More to follow shortly while I put this thing thru it's paces.

PACKAGING:
The packaging is pretty decent to be fair, and definitely has a premium feel to it.
THE CASE:
Straight out of the packaging, this is what you get, they've included an Alan Key, to actually get into the thing which I think is good of them.
I've had "screw in" cases before, where you end up having to search around in the spider invested drawers of your garage just to get a key or screwdriver small enough to fit these things, so definitely a positive on that front.
Open up the case here is what you get inside:
Two Lanyards
An alcohol wipe
Cloth
Spare screws
And a second Alan Key
It's simply a case of unscrewing the screws and dropping your phone in
The inside part where the phone sits is rubber, with parts of it made into a honeycomb mesh, I'd say there's about 1CM of the stuff that separates the phone from the outside world once fitted.
The other materials used are aluminum for the front and back plate and it also has it's own glass protector which states to be Gorilla Glass, I can't confirm or disprove this but it's definitely glass.
The glass itself is clear and does not impair viewing and because the glass is attached to the case and not adhered to the screen, you do not get the "halo effect" associated with the current tempered glass protectors currently on the market.
Once installed get ready to start weight lifting, the whole thing together is "HEAVY", most definitely not something you'd want to stick in the top pocket of your shirt.
The only part not covered by this case is the rear camera, but is protected to a degree, as it's set back from the surface of the case.
Because the whole phone is enclosed, you have some raised capacitive buttons, to use instead of touching the phone itself, they work really well as does the responsiveness of the screen and the S-Pen on that screen, the S-Pen doesn't work with the capacitive buttons though, not a big deal but it's something to be aware of.
The ports for the Pen, USB and headphone socket are all covered by a cap of some description, the case states to be "Weather Proof" and I think it most definitely is, everything seems to lock together well, but it's not raining here (for once) so can't test this right now.
On a side note, I'm happy to report that all the cutouts for the ports and sensors are precise, everything I can see so far makes me have a feeling they've took care in creating this case.
The back of the case has a raised rubber backing, giving it some friction to stop it sliding around.
It's not as "grippy" to my bare fingertips though.
CONCLUSION:
This case in my opinion is great for those who do a lot of outdoor activities, or work in outdoor conditions and want to protect their device the best they can, this really does feel rugged and up to the challenge, in stopping rain and dust getting to your Note 4.
I personally would use, but only when I'm going to the beach or out camping/walking in the countryside with the family, not as my daily protection, for the adventurers out there, this is thing will be a great investment.
For the average person like myself, it's just two heavy and adds a substantial amount girth to the size of the Note 4 to use full time.
My everyday protection comes in the form of a Spigen Neo Hybrid, which in itself isn't exactly slender, but providing Love Mei don't ask for it back
I'll use the Powerful when I know I'm going to be going somewhere that phones are "allergic to" as this thing feels bomb proof.
Cheapest place I could find to get this was direct from them http://www.lovemeicases.com/love-mei-powerful-bumper-for-galaxy-note-4/ at $49.99
I like he case, but the branding on the front is the big turn off for me.
Wow that bulk! Guess you'll be happy it's safe I guess

I know, mental ain't it! you need to have big hands to handle this with one hand, I'm 6.1" have sizeable hands and can just manage to handle it.
These cases were originally copied from a company called Lunatik.
Lunatik really dropped the ball making anything outside of the iPhone only cases.
That Note 4 version sure looks huge. Makes the Defender look slim.
A kickstand would have been nice. If it had a holster I'd buy it. I particularly like the glass protection screen considering there isn't a glass protector that fits properly w/o a halo available and I like the water resistant feature. Did you test it making calls and know your voice doesn't sound muffled?
From a bulk standpoint it doesn't look any bulkier than any other highly protective case like the Defender for example.
I see where others are talking about seeing the case, but I don't see any pictures that are posted. Were they taken down?

I'll check on that today, reception wise, I didn't see any changes but didn't check GPS etc, so I'll check that too.
All the rugged cases look ugly.
Why isn't there a more girly one, that doesn't look like a fat robot?

We only get the black and glacier in the UK. It's a bit of pain to order from the US because I always end up paying custom fees and the case itself is pricey already. And then I don't want to buy from a reseller because I am not aware of any reputable ones. You never know whether it will be genuine. I bought one for my S4 and it was a really bad clone. Oh well!

It wouldn't maintain it's looks if you worked on a building site and dropped it on concrete [emoji12]
I always put a rugged case on my new phones for a couple of months. By then I have my eye on something new. Then I take off the bulky case and enjoy the phone for a while before I sell it.
Thanks for the detail review, firstly I'm hanging on between love mei case and lunatik takkit, now I will go for love mei to have my N4 under extreme protection....
This case seems solid on protection,no other cases will have a better performance on guard...

S10 Pitaka Aramid/Kevlar Thin & Minimalist Case [Pre-Order Discount]

Probably the best case ever, for me i have to get it whenever i get any new devices, i got it for my pixel 2 xl, s8, s9+, Note 8, iPhone 7 plus, iPhone X & iPhone Xs Max.
and i have never change to any other brands. Right now it's a good time to get the case because of the pre-order discount as it's on the pricey side. Definitely must have for thin case lovers, one of the thinnest out there but build with quality.

The case edge is cut out around the buttons.
I have one on my Note 8 and the vent car mount with Qi charging. Really the best setup I've ever had. The case isnt drop rated, but is SUPER thin and light, and not slick at all. WELL worth the $$

it should be like my s9+/note8 case cutouts for volume button but top and bottom wrapped.
Pitaka has a known problem with not covering the sides very well and also leaving the screen fully exposed. Many other manufacturers are at least providing raised lips on their cases at less than half the cost of Pitaka. They really need to start doing that. You won't be losing any thinness or aesthetics, but you'll gain face down screen protection, and enhanced protection from short distance falls/drops.
Other than that the design, look, feel, durability seems to be great.
True ..it’s mainly for like us who loves the thin profile and the flushed corners and sides.. not too particular about drop protection to be honest

I'm not 100% sure of the known issue you're mentioning. As far as the screen being fully exposed, personally I wouldn't want any of it "Not exposed". These cases aren't at all designed for drop protection, and frankly even if they did provide raised lips, the case material itself gives no drop protection at all, it's all very thin carbon fiber.
I think one of the challenges some of the case mfg's are faced with is these phones with the curved edges and the use of screen protectors. Seems like a design nightmare
I've had this case on my N8 from day 1 and as far as I'm concerned is one of the better cases I've ever owned and honestly is one of the main reasons I didn't get a N9 (they didn't make the case for it)

The goal isn't really drop protection as much as it is gaining the ability to put the phone face down on a surface and not worry about it getting scratched. If they were to increase the vertical coverage of the corners, topside, and bottomside of the case just enough so that it was raised 1mm an upper/lower lip, then the phone' glass wouldn't make contact with a flat surface like a table. If you were to take a naked phone and place it on a table face down and move it around a bit, you'd likely end up with a ton of scratches.
No worries, I'm working on my own 3D printed Galaxy S10 case that should resolve these shortcomings.
I actually contacted Pitaka 6 months ago asking them why they weren't already doing it on the iPhone X, and they mentioned that it would be much much harder for the user to apply the case to the phone. I asked them why Spigen was doing it for less than half the price, and then I was shunned away.
By far my favorite case I ever used. Have had one in my s9+ since the day pitaka became available
Agree, with the low profile and button cutouts it's awesome! Cheers
Looks great except the price. Have to use dbrand alone.

For those looking super thin cases. This is the thinnest in the market.
I got that before for my pixel 2xl, texture of the case feels like cheap plastic but true that it’s the thinnest around.
the pre-order discount would end any time soon.. save as much as possible!

It's fine if you don't drop your phone because it's junk if you want any type of real protection. I've had one in my hands and a piece of cardboard taped to the phone would offer the same protection.
My standard setup for every phone is Pitaka + Whitestone Dome screen protector. This adds roughly $90 to the cost of obtaining a new phone but for me, it's worth it.
