Before this I had an all black TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) case. It was ok, but the back looked very plain and boring. So I was looking for something little better, but didn’t want to get one with some wired pattern. Then I came across this.
I didn’t much like the metallic bezel of the SGS, and this case covers it pretty nicely. The best thing about it is the semi transparent back. As you can see from the photos below, I inserted a small piece of paper which I printed off a normal color printer having the Google logo and Android robot; IMO it gives a nice touch. Basically you can put just about anything you like. Overall I think it’s a pretty good case, it doesn’t add much bulk and it is very discreet.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, the buttons are harder to press though.. Thats the only gripe I have against it.
Finally here are some of my photos, Enjoy :

thanks for review and photo tip nice idea... and looks very good
could You tell something about 'the grip' ? is phone still slippy ?
doublepost_sorry
does the case absorbes any impact at all?
seems very fragile compared to the mesh type case
Been using this case since I got my phone. The semi-transparent back is hard plastic while the sides are soft. The grip is definitely better than without a case, but I wouldn't say it's great since the back is somewhat smooth. Not sure about drops though.
The only thing I don't like about it is that the sides buttons are kinda hard to press, but I'm guessing thats the same with all SGS cases.

The grip is ok but not as good as with a silicon or a full TPU case (I had before) because back is made out of a hard plastic like material with a grainy textured feel to it.

Bezel (the dark black area) still has a flexible rubbery feel to it (much like TPU/Silicon based cases), so I think it can absorb some shock, maybe not as much as other 100% silicon based cases. Transparent back is harder than the black frame, but still flexible (for example when the phone is inserted and taken out you have to bend it , and it doesn't seem to me that it would break easily, you can think of the material as somewhat similar to what regular microwave safe plastic containers are made out of, hard but flexible as well). I guess if the phone falls flat on it's back maybe a full silicon based case might do a slightly better job, but then again none of the cases out there can't guarantee to protect your phone from a fall. I think they are better at keeping the phone scratch free more than protecting from drops.

Yes, buttons are hard to press. But I had the same problem with the case I had before, and I even tried out a softer casing before that , same issue.
Nice review, good looking case, but I prefere flip cases. And got a good one of thoes
---
OT To me cases are basicly just for the looks.
Since I dont intend to be throwing or dropping my phone.
It´s an expensive thing so ofc one uses care when handling it
i prefer my case, ill post a pic later
To add to the OP review, this is one nice case.
I just receive this case from my ebay purchase, installed on my SGS and really liked the case.
Seems like it protects the phone really well.
I also picked up some gel case from ebay. The gel case doesn't cover the bezel very well. This Momax case covers the entire bezel really well, and doesn't add bulk to the phone at all.
really nice case. i like my case mate tough case but it's made the phone a bit too bulky for my liking. this might be a nice compromise between tough case and no case at all.
may try this one out.
Can anyone compare this to a Case-mate barely there case?
They would seem to be on the same "class" of case.
From what I am seeing, the Barely there case would be thinner, but cover less, and also cost more.
From what I see on the casmate website its only for T-Mobile Vibrant..
hi all,
my case came today and i really like it. i have a casemate tough case and while it certainly is tough, it made the phone bulkier than i was happy with.
the momax seems to be just enough coverage to make you feel pretty comfortable with drops but slim enough not to add too much bulk. of course, some bulk is to be expected and i still find the phone more comfortable to hold with the momax case than without any case. without a case i kept thinking i was going to drop the darn thing.
very happy with this case, i will be selling my tough case.
cheers
FYI, it is a really good case and i really liked it. But not really recommend this case if you always need to take your case off.
I got a white one few months ago. Recently i found the hard part scratch the silver front edge...and i have no any method to remove those mark now. So i don't use this case anymore now until i find the best case.
Moreover, the white color seems turning pearl yellow. I think it is because the sweat of my hands.
Anybody have same experience?
Bought this Case - my take
I got this case for 12 dollars off ebay and am glad i paid the premium over the cheap gel cases!
I do not like the gel cases as they are very hard to get into and out of your pockets (especially jeans) so when i saw this case with the hard back i thought id give it a try.
The case does slide out of your pocket easier then a full gell case and seems to protect the phone well. it also hides the silver bezel which is nice since it provides some protection from a fall on a flat surface(providing theres no pebels)
its still not as easy to slide out as the phone without a case but acceptable and the protection is nice!
I have managed to put a few small scratches in the back but its prob from my keys that tend to be in the same pocket of my phone on occasion.
only downside is dust collects along the edges but a quick wipe with a cloth gets rid of it.
I think this is way better than the silicon cases. They tend to stretch and slip off when you take the phone out of the pocket
Here's another option,
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pro-Tec-PGSGSFCL-Glacier-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B0043GW8JI
Got one in my local Vodafone shop for €12, fits great way better than those regular silicon cases, doesn't come off the phone, not discolouring either, gives a millimetre or two of clearance for the camera lens when you put it down flat.
If this is the CaseMate Barely There mentioned earlier http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pro-Tec-PGSGSFCL-Glacier-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B0043GW8JI then it does fit the GT I9000. They had one in my local O2 shop that was for a Vibrant, (even though you can't get Vibrant's here), so I figured I'd try it. It fits beautifully, and doesn't bulk up the phone like all the other cases. I'm seriously considering one to replace the Pro-Tec, but it's €20, and wont have the clearance for the camera. Looks great on the phone though

me too! thanks for the review
Well i've had the case for 2 weeks now so I feel I can give you guys an honest review of the case.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSCkAmij7P0
Construction.
The case is two parts, as i'm sure you've already read, however I want to draw your attention to both parts with regards to manufacturing, and design.
The internal hard case is a two part snap fit,
it features a lens protector which is substantial, and seems fit for purpose, there isn't any distortion i can see, and the plastic seems solid. The screen protector built into this case seems of high quality, but does cause colour refraction of the screen (the effects of a oily screen) this isn't terrible and I suffered the same using a Invisishield screen protector, but it's worth noting. I don't like the fact that the buttons on the front of the phone are cut out, the amount of lint and hair i get through the holes is unbearable to myself, and this leads to the next problem.
There are 6 snap fit clips around the body which on first fit are ridiciously tight. this is good and bad. If you never take the case off then it is sure to survive any impact, however if your like me and the dirt annoys you under the screen protector you'll be taking it off all the time. Now once you break that virgin seal the clips never hold as tight, this isn't to say it no longer grips, just it's not tight so now the two part plastic creaks and squeeks if squeezed together, the movement isn't huge but again I like things to be solid, and this case isn't.
Now the Silicon case goes on the outside, unlike the Case Mate - Tough.
I see this as a better idea than the hardcase on the outside, however Otterbox have slipped up a little in my opinion. There is a raised lip on the outside edge which the silicon case slips over to secure it. they've made one on the top, two long ones each side, and to hooks on the bottom. But not on the corners, this is where it's needed most because of the lack of lip you'll find that when you catch the rubber on your clothes hand, an object it will pull away from the plastic part. I'm constantly having to push the rubber back into the lip and massage the corners so they meet the body better.
Impact protection.
Purely by chance the other week my desire went down an iron staircase on a building site. Not good but a perfect test for the case.
Well tbh my phone picked up a bit of speed and dented a plasterboard wall on stopping. I was pretty sure I was in for a new phone, but to my honest surprise the case did it's job. The phone is in perfect nick, the case itself is ok too.
Conclusion.
Well the case is big and bulky, it makes the phone slightly larger than a iPhone 3GS with case attached, which by todays standards is a brick, it's not asthetically pleasing to those with an eye for detail because of the squeeks, the loose outer rubber cover, and the screen proctector creating colour reflex, and obvious holes (the mk2 doesn't have the holes i'm told) it's not really a looker. But thats not what this case is about, if you need a case to protect your phone on busy building sites, or even if you a cluts dropping it all the time then this is the case of choice. I think if Otterbox revisit this case, perhaps add the lip all the way round to hook the rubber over, use a clearer screen protector, perhaps using a snap fit lip upposed to 6 clips then this would appeal to the people looking for a stylish protection solution. I believe this case is the best solution for protection, but looses alot of ground based on looks.

Your welcome mate
Thanks for the review, after viewing it i think maybe i just gonna buy the commuter..not defender, i love the "sexy" looks on my desire..
Great review mate..
thanks man,
new review up
nice reviews man you happen to be able to make a comparison between the otterbox commuter and the case-mate tough case?
I would but unfortunately I don't own that case, if I fall out with my tough case, i may buy one and review it thoug
i owned a commuter case till yesterday. returned it today and bought a case-mate tough case based on your review
hope you like it
Nice review! Thanks man!
Thanks for the review, detailed feedback is v. helpful.
I have had the defender since day one when released. I removed the protective screen it came with and use a zagg protective screen instead. Like the original poster stated the rubber does come off all the time on the edges and I find myself consistently pushing it back into place. Not a big deal. Also I have noticed my rubber piece for. The earphone Jack is starting to rip off. Good case overall in my opinion.
I like it very much.
Thanks for this great review!!!!!!!!
other problem
not sure if its just my otterbox, and not sure if it was already mentioned in the review.
in the upper left corner of the case is a hole that shows a very small portion of the screen. this is for the sensor inside that knows when the phone is up to your face when on a call. when you put the phone down, the screen comes back on. however, like mentioned in the review, with all the holes in this case, dirt and dust collect very easily, and block that sensor from seeing your face, therefore, when you take the phone away from your face, the phone's screen remains locked out. button pressing wont bring it back on. you actually have to wait for some hole to shine through to that sensor, or take the otter box apart so the screen will come back on. very, very annoying.
I arrived at work this morning and I'd received a new case for my Galaxy Note 4 to review! Happy days!
I'm currently dissecting it now and will update this thread later today, but first impressions.... this thing is BIG!
I've personally never seen anything with such heavy duty protection for the Note series, that's not to say they're aren't others, it's just a new one on me.
If you're scared of damaging your device, then this robust looking thing may be right up your street.
More to follow shortly while I put this thing thru it's paces.

PACKAGING:
The packaging is pretty decent to be fair, and definitely has a premium feel to it.
THE CASE:
Straight out of the packaging, this is what you get, they've included an Alan Key, to actually get into the thing which I think is good of them.
I've had "screw in" cases before, where you end up having to search around in the spider invested drawers of your garage just to get a key or screwdriver small enough to fit these things, so definitely a positive on that front.
Open up the case here is what you get inside:
Two Lanyards
An alcohol wipe
Cloth
Spare screws
And a second Alan Key
It's simply a case of unscrewing the screws and dropping your phone in
The inside part where the phone sits is rubber, with parts of it made into a honeycomb mesh, I'd say there's about 1CM of the stuff that separates the phone from the outside world once fitted.
The other materials used are aluminum for the front and back plate and it also has it's own glass protector which states to be Gorilla Glass, I can't confirm or disprove this but it's definitely glass.
The glass itself is clear and does not impair viewing and because the glass is attached to the case and not adhered to the screen, you do not get the "halo effect" associated with the current tempered glass protectors currently on the market.
Once installed get ready to start weight lifting, the whole thing together is "HEAVY", most definitely not something you'd want to stick in the top pocket of your shirt.
The only part not covered by this case is the rear camera, but is protected to a degree, as it's set back from the surface of the case.
Because the whole phone is enclosed, you have some raised capacitive buttons, to use instead of touching the phone itself, they work really well as does the responsiveness of the screen and the S-Pen on that screen, the S-Pen doesn't work with the capacitive buttons though, not a big deal but it's something to be aware of.
The ports for the Pen, USB and headphone socket are all covered by a cap of some description, the case states to be "Weather Proof" and I think it most definitely is, everything seems to lock together well, but it's not raining here (for once) so can't test this right now.
On a side note, I'm happy to report that all the cutouts for the ports and sensors are precise, everything I can see so far makes me have a feeling they've took care in creating this case.
The back of the case has a raised rubber backing, giving it some friction to stop it sliding around.
It's not as "grippy" to my bare fingertips though.
CONCLUSION:
This case in my opinion is great for those who do a lot of outdoor activities, or work in outdoor conditions and want to protect their device the best they can, this really does feel rugged and up to the challenge, in stopping rain and dust getting to your Note 4.
I personally would use, but only when I'm going to the beach or out camping/walking in the countryside with the family, not as my daily protection, for the adventurers out there, this is thing will be a great investment.
For the average person like myself, it's just two heavy and adds a substantial amount girth to the size of the Note 4 to use full time.
My everyday protection comes in the form of a Spigen Neo Hybrid, which in itself isn't exactly slender, but providing Love Mei don't ask for it back
I'll use the Powerful when I know I'm going to be going somewhere that phones are "allergic to" as this thing feels bomb proof.
Cheapest place I could find to get this was direct from them http://www.lovemeicases.com/love-mei-powerful-bumper-for-galaxy-note-4/ at $49.99
I like he case, but the branding on the front is the big turn off for me.

I know, mental ain't it! you need to have big hands to handle this with one hand, I'm 6.1" have sizeable hands and can just manage to handle it.
These cases were originally copied from a company called Lunatik.
Lunatik really dropped the ball making anything outside of the iPhone only cases.
That Note 4 version sure looks huge. Makes the Defender look slim.
A kickstand would have been nice. If it had a holster I'd buy it. I particularly like the glass protection screen considering there isn't a glass protector that fits properly w/o a halo available and I like the water resistant feature. Did you test it making calls and know your voice doesn't sound muffled?
From a bulk standpoint it doesn't look any bulkier than any other highly protective case like the Defender for example.
I see where others are talking about seeing the case, but I don't see any pictures that are posted. Were they taken down?

We only get the black and glacier in the UK. It's a bit of pain to order from the US because I always end up paying custom fees and the case itself is pricey already. And then I don't want to buy from a reseller because I am not aware of any reputable ones. You never know whether it will be genuine. I bought one for my S4 and it was a really bad clone. Oh well!

I always put a rugged case on my new phones for a couple of months. By then I have my eye on something new. Then I take off the bulky case and enjoy the phone for a while before I sell it.
Thanks for the detail review, firstly I'm hanging on between love mei case and lunatik takkit, now I will go for love mei to have my N4 under extreme protection....
This case seems solid on protection,no other cases will have a better performance on guard...
I've ordered 3 cases, received 2 so far. Both are just ok. Nothing looks as good as the naked phone. What caseems (if any) is everyone using? Those who don't use a case, do you worrun about scratching the camera or screen when laying it down? Thanks.
I keep my phone in a sunglass bag and in general it's always worked well. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the S6 because one drop can crack the entire back. Plastic may not be "premium" but it is a lot harder to break. That being said I'm not even sure a case would prevent a crack just from shock rather than a direct hit. It'll be interesting to see how many phones get messed up in the next couple of weeks.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk
A lot of reviews seem to indicate that the S6 is rather slippery. That alone would warrant a case for a lot of people, I'm sure. It prompted me to order one.
A case probably won't save the phone from a high drop, unless getting something pretty bulky. I'd rather get something slimmer to protect the edges and back from scratches and chips and just be diligent about not dropping it. The case I got is the gunmetal version of the Spigen Ultra Hybrid. Though I think they sent me the slate one by mistake because the color is nothing like the pics on Amazon...
As painful as it will be, I'd suggest using a case. I went with a case from LUVVITT that has a transparent scratch resistant back. So while I can't see the metal sides of my phone, I can at least see the back of the phone, plus at least I know it's safe
I'm going to put a case on first months because I need to get used to shape and form I'm always clumsy first months now I use my s5 without any protection since September nothing happen but on first months the more I take care the more I hit the phone on surfaces.
i've always used the flygrip on my devices but also always used it on a case , i never ever ever have droped my phone once my fingers are locked into the flygrip. i will however be putting a case on this device.

Agreed. I have the regular S6 and with the glass on the front and back, it can slip right out of a loose pocket. EASILY. I bought the Spigen NeoHybrid case and I have zero complaints on it.

The official Otterbox site says "no" (at least for the Commuter cases), but lots of anecdotal evidence gives a qualified "yes." I suspect Otterbox's flat refusal is so nobody will ask for their money back if the wireless charging doesn't work.
The longest I've ever used a case was maybe two days. I hate cases because they make the phone feel bulky and I prefer to feel the actually phone.
But a couple weeks I dropped my Z3 on tile, cracked the front glass and part of the screen doesn't respond to touch. So, the S6 case is on the way. I'll save money in the long run from having to replace screens.

In the low-budget segment there are, as usual, a large number of cases. I usually use one until I receive my higher quality, pre-ordered cases - like something from Spigen. The QULLOO TPU Softcase differs significantly from the Spigen Liquid Crystal Case. Although this case also comes with a so-called Dottet Buffer surface on the inside, instead of the air cushions in the Spigen Case, it has clear thickening at the corners, and a matt reinforcement in the area of the Edge Sense 2.0 sensors.

In the test, however, the matt reinforcement was quite a hindrance. If the U12+ recognizes the short squeeze, as well as the squeeze and hold action correctly, there were always problems with the double tap action, because it was not recognized right away.

2) KingShark Transparent TPU Case
Another case in the low-budget segment is the KingShark Transparent TPU Case. It is significantly thinner than the cases of QULLOO, or spigen, but also comes in a so-called dottet buffer surface inside. This prevents, as in the case of the Spigen Liquid Crystal Case, unsightly blistering and/or staining between the smooth surface of the HTC U12+ and the case as such.
Furthermore, it does not possess "Air Cushion Technology"

1) [HTC] Transparent - Hard Case
Review in the works.
2) [MEINUOXU] Slim Rubber Frosted Matte Plastic - Hard Cover
As with TPU cases, there is an almost endless selection in the low-budget segment of hard cases - especially on portals like AliExpress. In order to have an alternative, and thus independent comparison possibility, to the supplied HTC Crystal Clear Hardcase, I also ordered some cases via AliExpress in this case - since each one only cost about 0,80 €. The cases have a decisive disadvantage compared to the HTC hardcase: they lack the necessary cut-outs in the area of the edge sense sensors. Furthermore, the cutouts for the volume buttons and the power button do not match the positions on the frame of the HTC U12+.
A test was not necessary due to the shortcomings mentioned above.
Test result: insufficient (6)
I'm really curious about how much attention case and screen protector companies give the U12+ due to HTC's decreased popularity.
Does anyone know if the screen has a curve to it at all? I'm real worried we will be in another situation that you can't find a decent tempered glass. I guess that's for another thread though.
No official accessories?
No official accessories I know of at least. Well there is one of course: the clear hard case coming in the box! Will add this right away.
Glad there are one or two Spigen TPU cases upcoming, as I really love to have those on my phones.

I will be buying both spigen cases. Let ya'll know what I think when I can. I hope incipio decides to make a 2 or so cases for us.
OP update.
Added first impressions to the cases that I already received. This OP will for sure be a WIP - Work in Progress - until my U12+ has been in use for at least 1 - 2 months.
Greetings

The glass appears to be entirely flat until the edges, until it forms an M9-esque 90 degree bend and goes into the aluminum body. Think as if the entire front portion of the M9 were glass.
At least, that's what I'm getting out of the pictures that have come out so far.

OP update.
Added the first test results. More will follow for sure!
I'm finally going to get this one https://www.amazon.de/Moonmini-Rück...UTF8&qid=1528978613&sr=1-14&keywords=u12+plus
This looks like good protection and somewhat I like its leather style.
I'll get a transparent one on the longer run, once the bigger names start to ship them.

Great choice when it come to design. Looking at the matt black one since a few days. Still didn't order it. Seems a little bit flexible at the sides which would be positive for Edge Sense and double tap I guess.

Not yet. But such a case might be a problem when it comes to Edge Sense and its usability. Thus I went with TPU crystal clear cases, which IMHO did a good job in protecting my U11 and still keep the Edge Sense sensors working.

Original HTC case for U12+ appeared on HTCs HK website. Maybe someone can order and send to EU?

I've got same question man... I don't understand HTC's sales policy sometimes....
I just ordered the Poetic Karbon Shield. Should receive both the case and phone tomorrow. Will update with my thoughts. https://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Karbon-Shield-Absorbing-Texture/dp/B07C6YW9CT/ref=sr_1_1_sspa/145-2051360-8800628?ie=UTF8&qid=1530103836&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=poetic+htc+u12&psc=1
Sorry for the delay. I have been using the Poetic Karbon Shield for 10 days now and I have to say it is great! It does not inhibit Edge Sense from working and does not have any negative impact on the haptic buttons for power and volume. The case does have a nice lip around the entire screen to protect it when face down. There is an ample amount of buffer between the case and camera as well. The texture on the back and sides is not slippery and allows for a nice grip when holding the phone. The cutouts are all perfect. The case most definitely gives me more confidence than then included OEM case. It does not make the phone that much more bulky. I really like this case!
My opinions so far:
Poetic Karbon Shield : 8
Ringke FUSION-X: 9
HTC OEM Case: 4
I see the spilgen case is now in stock the Spilgens own site, so hopefully will be on Amazon uk soon
