Installing galaxy s5 software on s3 - General Questions and Answers

Hey
i just joined xda..i'm a noob so please don't hate.
I was wondering if i could install the all new s5 software on my s3.
I currently have cm 11 installed (the latest one), and my friend installed s5 software on his note 2 and it was just great!!
Any link to a site or any response will be appreciated.
Tnx.

You can't install a software from another device/model on yours. It'll brick it. I think your friend is lying as well? My apologies if its legitimate but I just checked and found no software for s5 working on the note 2

5S rom

Its beside that possible to install a look a like rom
For note 2 see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dU6g2UfjVx8
For S3 See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-blekota-s5-lite-beta-4-5-1-t2752331
This Called searching

If you find an individual APK to install, you might not brick your phone. I've been trying to find the S5 camera app for my S2. It didn't work, but it didn't brick it.

@jorandobnl
I did. I searched for many look a like roms but i wanted the same thing..not just a theme or a really close one..
Thanks for the help anyways

Apparently Kitkat OTAs for the Galaxy S3 include the S5 theme
You just need to edit your device name in the build.prop file

Need help for getting ics

Hey guys
My friend has a galaxy fit and she wants to install ics on her phone and she asked me to do it. I am a galaxy r user and familiar with rooting and stuff. I checked out the forum but i am not sure what works best here.
So i request you if someone could direct me to the best working ICS rom here? And also to a thread that guides ms to install custom recovery on this device.
THANKS

There's no stable ics for galaxy fit yet..

AOKP 4 is currently the smoothest one. wait for few days for aokp 5
Follow this guide for everything you need for your(her) fit..

[REQUEST] Stock Galaxy S3 Camera.apk running on Jellybean

I love the features of the Galaxy S3 Camera app, but the rom is full of bloatware and lacking features.
I upgraded to ParanoidAndroid 2+, and love it.
Request to put the STOCK Galaxy S3 Camera App onto a JellyBean mod (like ParanoidAndroid or CM).

Attempts have been made @ this thread but there were no conclusive results.

Its not possible because the stock camera relies heavily on the stock samsung framework.

OOPS I was meant to quote the OP not you but you answered for him ... reason for my Question is because he is asking for a system app of a Different device
i think the camera app should be interchangable Not sure tho...I just find it odd as there is PLENTY more I9300 users with what you would be looking for and its no guessing game that way caues you KNOW it will work. Its better to be safe then sorry. And yes they are similar devices but they are not the same which is why we have 2 different development forums for them.
And if you want to try the camera app is in ausdim deodexed/zialigned XXALI5 rom , its in this thread somewhere just extract it out of there but your rom has to be deodexed aswell.

Goodbye everyone

Hello everyone,
It is time that i upgraded to a new device. So today i went to the local tech shop and bought myself a brand new Galaxy S3. I've had some good time around here in the S7500 community and I will visit the forum section from time to time. Cheers!

& that's the same reason I turn to Galaxy Grand before last few months.. gave my acep to little brother
really feeling sick by waiting for official release.
so the better way is this only, if we don't get an update, there is no way to wait for nothing.

If I had an LG device like yours , I would leave ace plus
Rather than keeping a phone like Ace Plus , you have chosen a better way , buying an SIII , great Daniel I wish you better developments , and keep us updated from your ROMs , or anything else .You made a great touch on our community , thanks
I wish I had enough money to buy an SII
thanks everyone ^_^
i wish the best for the ace plus and for the entire community. you have been great people

my ace plus is also a gift from my sisters and thats the reason i have to keep this phone forever
i too have a kindle fire and a tab 2 but my daily driver is ace plus :good:
I had an Ace than decided to give to my sister .
Then one night my dad said to look into Ace Plus specs ,before looking into I said it is worthless ,and told that I do not need a device .But then he told me that he already bought one .This was a reason why I hate before asking to me though.
It made me happy ,but time passed and I became tired of this phone . :/

I thought i'd have a better flashing experience on the i9300, but i have to say......i didn't... the /efs partition can be easily broken, newer basebands dont work with wifi on any kernel other than stock and no roms except touchwiz-based support the SDcard....that's just horrible. the i9300 is pure crap when it comes to customizing screw samsung and their /efs dependencies and screw their exFAT sdcard format

Rumors have it that the update to Samsung will bring a crappy security system called KNOX, which is like the number of custom images we have on samsung devices, but KNOX cant be removed in any way. It is permanent

Update Firmware without Kies?

Morning all.
I recently bought the Samsung Galaxy S2 (i727) off Amazon and want to update the firmware BUT Kies is not working on my computer. The problem is that Kies will not load and gives me the "send problem to microsoft" screen. When I purchased my first Galaxy Tab early this year, Kies worked but now it wont.
My laptop is an old Dell model so not sure if that is the problem.
I do not know how to root a device or install this rom or that file, so where does one go, who is a total newbie when it comes to updating a device.
Thanks all.
